 Daytime... was boring, according to the dog that was currently stretched out on the ground with her head on her paws. The sun was characterisicly hot on this day, and it was quite high in the sky.
Fortunately, that was abundant. The bored dog pulled herself up, her lack of things to do driving her up the wall. She couldn't stay here! For a moment, she paced, thinking of what to do. Finally, with some thought (but not a lot), she decided to simply walk to find something or someone to alleviate her boredom.
Her pace was slightly fast, but not terribly slow. She was already panting, but she didn't mind that too much. She pindered briefly if she could find a waterhole to swim in. Despite, she kept walking.

 The green splotched jackal padded along as he always did, keeping his tail high and his guard up. Sometimes he liked to think he was in constant danger, just because it made wandering around aimlessly more fun. And he wandered a lot, so it was good to have something to keep him occupied.
So he would slink across long stretches of open terrain, avoiding possible attacks from the sky or the sides. Then leap behind rocks or slip behind trees. He rolled around and successfully escaped all danger because he was just so awesome.
And there was none. But he didn't really think about that. He was a dude on a mission.
He spotted something up ahead and charged toward it, considering it his new 'mark' and wanting to make contact. Sure, he was too old for pretend, but he didn't really care about that.
"Hey, wait up!" He called.

The dog's ear perked up considerably. She paused and listened for whatever the sound was. She swiveled her ears slightly to the noise. Honestly, the day was so boring, she would do anything to make that be gone. Not saying this new comer was boring or anything.
She had long since figured that daylight hours were simply... boring, but she was a creature of habit and she really couldn't force herself to change too much before she reverted back to her original self.
Brown eyes searching, Janja found a moving creature, hard to notice amongst the grass. It blended in well. It was some sort of canine, she figured in attempt to make out a shape. The only thing that really stood out was the sharp blue eyes. However, it certainly wasn't the same as she was, canine or no.

Lazarus ran up to her, wanting to close the distance quickly and only having short legs to assist him in the effort. He padded to a stop, trying not to look out of breath, though he shamefully was.
He really need to work out more, it seemed. He had been too long idle, and now it was kicking his butt.
Shaking it off, he drew a deep breath before speaking, so he could make sure that his voice remained sturdy. The last thing he wanted to do was let his voice crack and totally give away his struggle to not pant.
"Hey there!" he said, voice cracking just like he didn't want it to. He winced, but carried on, breathless, "how are you this fine day, my lady?"

She stared at the smaller dog-like creature. It was... strange. She had never seen anything like it before. Janja tilted her head to the side with a small quirked smile. "Hello," He answered the small doggish creature.
"I suppose I'm fine," She decided to play along. After all, daytime was boring. She pondered for a moment why she was even awake in the dreadful sunlight. It was a time for basking and sleeping!
"What about you, kind sir?"

"Kind sir? I like that! I'm not sure how true it is, but I'll do my best to live up to it," he grinned, taking a moment to play with her greeting before answering her question. He often replied to what he wanted to, when he wanted to, because he felt that words were meant to be fun.
And he liked to play with them.
"I'm doing good though, thanks for asking. Better, now, since I wasn't really... occupied... before now," he tilted his head at her. Sniffing at her, he pretended he could make his observations from that alone.
"Are you sleepy? You smell either bored or sleepy. Or maybe I'm smelling myself."

The fiery dog gave a chuckle of amusement. She deemed the small cancine worth talking to. It would alleviate her boredom and loneliness, and he seemed like the perfect one to do so.
Janja gave a small tilt of her head. "Sleepy a bit, yes, and very bored. It was why I was walking. There was nothing to do back home," She gave a small resolute nod. "And daytime... there isn't much to do. It's boring, usually."

"Not a fan of the daylight, huh?" he hadn't heard that before. Most of the dogs he ran into preferred the light. What with the actually being able to see and all. His ears perked forward in interest, his tail wagging behind him as he looked her up and down.
No, she looked like a regular dog. Nothing about her said she was like a feline.
"I don't know about you," he said, shrugging his small shoulders, "but I can't see in the dark, so I like the day a lot more. Why do you think the day is boring? Unless, I mean, you're a really big fan of sleep and daytime is boring because it keeps you awake." He laughed.
"But that would be a waste."

"Not really. It's too hot, and I'm usually not awake at this time..." She shook her head lightly. The sun always burned her eyes - well, ever since she had stayed up late into the night.
"There's so much more to do at night. It is hard to see, though, but I'm just not used to it anymore." And she wasn't, not since she was still an adolescent.

Lazarus tilted his head.
"I don't really know what there is to do at night that you can't do during the day. I guess hunting would be easier: if all the prey are asleep!" He laughed jovially, shaking his little ears and wagging his tail.
"I'll have to stay up some time and see if I can find the allure of it. I'm sure it must be fun, if it's got the attention of a lovely lady like you," he smiled, teeth glinting.

"The best nights are when the moon hangs full," Janja smiled. "The light is stong enough to easily see." Her eyes sparkled in mischief and she lowered her voice to a whisper, as if telling a secret. "Then you can chase the fireflies and run through the grass scaring away the sleeping creatures."
All fun and games really.
"I suppse hunting could be easier at night sometimes. I never really paid attention to it." She smiled. She gave a small chuckle at the smaller canines words of choice.

Lazarus saw the look in her eyes and he leaned his head forward to listen, watching her closely. His tail wagged slowly behind him, and he couldn't keep a small grin from his face, even as he pretended to listen with rapt attention. He nodded slowly, letting her share her secret with him and silently promising never to tell.
Even though it wasn't really a secret. He laughed, looking up at her brightly. 'Accidentally' bumping her nose with his and 'pretending' not to notice.
"That sounds fun! Better than the practical things like hunting anyway. I don't think I've ever done either of those things, and now they're things I would really like to do. Adding them to my list." He laughed, nodding to confirm this.

"It is fun," She agreeed. It was better then hunting - Janja liked to play games, it helped her keep her mind off of things. A small chuckle erupted from the larger dog as their noses brushed. Her brownish eyes crossed to look at her nose and she wiggled it.
She laughed again, and focused her attentions back on the smaller canine.
"Oh? What list is this?"

Lazarus let out a bark when she went cross eyed, wagging his tail and whining playfully. He bounced away from her when she asked about his list, suddenly exuberant. Finding and scaling a nearby rock, he gained himself some height from which he puffed out his chest and looked at her proudly.
"I like to keep a list of missions for myself," he announced, "things I want or feel like I NEED to do before I get myself killed. Goals, but more important than that. They can be anything from simple promises to myself or big, overarching, life sized missions. Easy or hard. It's easier to go through life when you constantly feel like you're working toward something. No listlessness for this guy."
He grinned.
"So yeah. That list." He nodded.
