Tenkyuu's hand faintly knocks at Hitsuga's door as she enters, her eyes already slipping to the shelves and eying the ornamentation of the perfumer. The Heavenly Bow is by no means merely content to look, however, and she extends a hand to take one of the bottles before running her fingers along its glassy contours.

The elderly Porcelain does not open the vial, however, like some of Hitsuga's previous customers but allows the scent to shy away from the public sphere.

A projection follows the knock immediately, politely informing the visitor that he will be there in a moment.

The politeness is a work of art in itself on his part as 'polite' does not describe how he's feeling at the moment at all. The last of the broken glass had been swept up, and the scrub brush and soapy water had cleaned away the bulk of the oil on his workroom floor, though the air within still stunk unbearably of fresh cedar.

Watching the spectacle safely from beneath the cupboard where Hitsu could not reach her to eject her from the room, Kan stared at Hitsuga as he cleaned up the mess she'd made only a moment earlier. She, however, was blameless. She had only been investigating the strange army of things that sat on The Pale One's table. It was not her fault that one in particular had wobbled off of the edge... stare

With the broken bottle of cedar oil more or less dealt with, and a final annoyed look in the direction of the cabinet, Hitsuga regained his feet, quickly rearranging himself and expression into something more presentable to greet his visitor.

By the time he reaches the storefront, one would not have guessed he was scowling a moment prior as he greets Tenkyuu with a warm smile and a bow.

How may this one serve Madame?

And immediately upon viewing Hitsuga and his hairstyle, Tenkyuu cannot help but let a smile weave its way along her cheeks.

And then laughter follows, restrained and muffled by a hand, but still carrying the key quality of amusement within it. Once she is finished, Tenkyuu bows her head ever-so-faintly to Hitsuga, a warm feature lining her face.

Tenkyuu apologizes for her outburst. Rather, she found herself reliving delightful memories of her youth--it seems the Master Perfumer is well on his way with a Lady. Tenkyuu offers her congratulations.

Behind her walls, however, Tenkyuu playfully muses that poor Hitsuga knows not what he gets himself into when joining with a woman. And yet there he is, ready to become one and unify, to place himself in another's hands.

... Tenkyuu's heart takes a turn towards melancholy, but she keeps the warm, happy features on her face as she again bows her head to Hitsuga.

Tenkyuu would like to commission a perfume.

His expression, at first, falters into one of confused self-consciousness when she begins to laugh as he takes a quick mental inventory of himself. Was his face a mess? Were his clothes out of order, whatwhatwhat?? gonk

At her explanation, however, he realizes exactly what she finds amusing and his cheeks deepen in color. Oh, that...!

He answers her chuckle with one of his own, offering his thanks as he bows back to her. It was, admittedly, not a turn Hitsuga had been expecting for his life, but...

....but that is neither here nor there. he adds, shooing it away lightly in favor of the matter at hand.

What sort of perfume might Madame Tenkyuu be interested in?

And yet there he is, his hair short and a happy blush on his cheeks. Tenkyuu slips her forefinger along the bottle for a moment more before delicately setting it back in its position. A slight expression of pain crosses the Porcelain's brow before the offending flesh settles at her side.

Tenkyuu would first like to learn more of Master Hitsuga before she divulges her request. He would not mind going to such lengths for a customer, would he? Tenkyuu knows it is a most odd predicament she is asking the Master to place himself in, but she is afraid she cannot commission anything until she is more knowledgeable about the one she wishes to patronize.

Tenkyuu smiles faintly, an aura of apology surrounding her.

His brows raise inquisitively, clearly having not been expecting this sort of answer.

Well, he...

He clears his throat, quickly recollecting his thoughts. No, he doesn't suppose that's an unreasonable request, he offers, folding his hands over one another.

Fragrances can be, after all, very personal things to others. One would want to make sure the person they are asking them of would handle their memories or visions with care, yes? 3nodding

Even as he says so, however, his mental wall lifts itself a bit. He can see the logic in it, yes, but that does nothing for making him feel uncomfortable to be put on the spot by a stranger as he wonders what sort of things she may wish to know of him...

"Tell me about the woman you love?" asks Tenkyuu as she steps forward, her own wall remaining firmly in place.

Tenkyuu wishes to know what sort of wonderful woman could steal the heart of Master Hitsuga. By knowing of such a woman, Tenkyuu will be able to gauge more easily the type of man Master Hitsuga is. Tenkyuu pauses, a finger lingering just below her lip as she nods faintly.

If Master Hitsuga grows uncomfortable during any part of the questioning, Tenkyuu asks that he make it known? She would not like to push such a Master to a place that would bring him pain.

The blush in his cheeks deepens. Though....privately, he doesn't suppose its achingly personal of a question. Not on the level its been asked, at least....

Hitsuga's wife....is someone who has been dear to him for as long as he can recall, he tells Tenkyuu. When they were children, she was the stronger of the pair of them, and went through life two steps ahead as a guide and protector. In those days, he loved her as he would love family.

It was a love he didn't think would mature beyond that, but...the years have proven this one to be wrong.

And Tenkyuu cannot help but smile at the openness displayed by the perfumer. She nods slowly, her fingertips touching lightly at her lips as she seems to consider the situation before her.

Tenkyuu is an extremely private person about a number of things, so she apologizes about being so hesitant, about gauging Master Hitsuga.

Her hands shift to look at her fingers which look more like gnarled claws than digits. Tenkyuu is an old woman who wishes to relive happy moments long gone. Before she revealed what she wanted, however, she had to know an intimate amount about Hitsuga.

Perhaps to make her feel like apprehensive? A gentle laugh floats from her mind as her eyes return to his face.

Hitsuga understands, of course....and he will do his best to accommodate Madame's queries.

Tenkyuu will forgive him, however, if he finds himself unable to answer certain questions, he hopes. sweatdrop Like her, he is somewhat of a closed person.

Though....

Noting a shelf that is slightly out-of-sorts from the light handling the bottles have received from visitors, he steps quickly across the room to tend to it, pale hands fluttering over the perfumes, straightening them, putting them back into meticulous order.

Though the subject of he and Baikou is not one he feels particularly guarded against after all that's happened, he supposes.

It seems Master Hitsuga and his beloved have found true happiness after years of struggle--love in adversity is truly a beautiful thing.

The Heavenly Bow watches him dote and care for the items of his craft, and a smile cannot but remain on her lips. Tenkyuu feels, from what little she has seen of Master Hitsuga, that she can trust him with her feelings in the creation of a scent. The elder pauses before her junior, however, all happy expressions fading away while she watches Hitsuga solemnly.

"What goes on here, you must not tell anyone else," says Tenkyuu firmly, "I have a reputation, and I will not ruin it due to one moment of sentimentality. If you cannot keep secret what takes place, then I ask that you tell me now."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2009 8:23 pm

His expression of cordiality slips into one of worriment at first, and then into one of similar seriousness as he nods once.

Hitsuga assures Madame that he takes great care with his customers on the matter of commissioned perfumes. Most are founded on a dear memory or a vivid dream....some that are hard to talk about. And he does not take such trust placed in him lightly.

In fact...

Dark eyes wander to the propped door and then he steps around Tenkyuu to nudge the stone holding it open aside, letting it close gently to avoid any unwanted third parties wandering in, and then turns to regard her once more, head inclined a bit to wordlessly tell her that he is ready to listen when she is ready to speak.

Tenkyuu smiles and bows her head delicately to Hitsuga in appreciation before inclining her head, her eyes tracing along the bottles lining his shelves.

As Hitsuga has suggested, every scent has a story behind it. Tenkyuu is afraid that what she desires is something that she no longer has. Being an old woman, she tenaciously clings to the past, looking at the bygone good days and wishing for their return.

There is one Tenkyuu wishes to remember. She closes her eyes as if imagining the figure's presence, taking in his long gone but little forgotten scent with a visible inhale.

He smells of the sea. His everyday is spent by the seaside, whether it is with the children or for his own amusement. Salt, no matter the time of year, always seems to partly encrust his hair.

When Tenkyuu opens her eyes, melancholy has appeared within them, one of her rigid hands moving to touch her chest and cease the stirrings within them. Without looking at Hitsuga again, she asks him to capture the scent of the sea so she can linger in those precious days.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:11 pm

...and Hitsuga's own thoughts privately turn to the sea.

The seaside where he had spent his childhood years. The bone-white strip of beach near his home that he and Baikou had walked countless times, looking for shells, and talking over their pressing eight-year-old matters with one another. The sigh of the salty air through an open window at night...

.....and how all of those memories and smells had sickened him to the point of moving further inland, into the mountains to be away from them. How all they reminded him of were sweet memories that had been soured by guilt and panic.

Dragging himself back to the present, he keeps those thoughts carefully hidden, and promises himself that, for the sake of the project and integrity of his work, he will give it an honest effort regardless.

This one is a child of Rinkoku, he tells Tenkyuu at last. So, he is quite familiar with the scents she's described. And he will, of course, do his best to capture the sea in one of his bottles for Madame Tenkyuu.

And Tenkyuu's own thoughts leave those sad, longing thoughts and move to the present, to the male who slips into silence. Her eyes shift up to him, wandering along his features, studying him with the perception required of a Dragon Knight before she proposes a question: Were his memories of the sea so horrible? Tenkyuu lets her words linger in the air for several moments before she bows her head politely.

Tenkyuu apologizes for prying. Many years policing the lands has left Tenkyuu with a heightened ability to discern facial features. Though Tenkyuu asks Hitsuga to open himself more to her, she did not mean for such a request to extend to her mere interest.

However, the Master has not overcome something, it seems? Something still tears at his artist's heart?
