MARKINGS On her left arm is a tattoo of an angelic (mini) wing. On her left arm is a tattoo of a demon (mini) wing. On her back is a black butterfly tattoo that is stretched over her full back from top to bottom.

[+]POS. TRAITS Friendly
Despite all that has happened in her life, Kuu loves making friends and more importantly keeping them. She warms up pretty easily after her initial shyness melts away. She's true to her friends and will do anything to keep them safe and near.

[-]NEG. TRAITS Devious
When no one is looking, Kuu can tend to be quite the vengeful spirit. Always on the prowl to even the score with those that have caused her pain an anguish. If you know you've done no wrong don't fret she won't turn on you...yet.

LIKES Sweets/Food in general & Flirting
Sweets is just one of the things that makes Kuu so loveable. Aside from that food in general keeps a smile on Kuu's face. She loves to pop in and snag her share before others can get their mits on anything. Just the same she'll tend to burn her finger for being so heisty; either way she's always happy with food in her belly. She also has an ifinity for flirting, friend, lover or perfect stranger it doesn't matter. She likes to throw her allure around knowing she's a cutie and flaunting it well makes her a happy girl.

DISLIKES closed places & crowds
Still rather claustrophobic, she can't be left in closed places or in large crowds for fear of losing her breath. These things make her nervous so she deals with friends in quality and not quantity. She also likes to have specious living quarters and may tend to move around a lot after being stuck in one room/area for too long. This may be why she travels a lot...go figure.

HOBBIES Flirting & Honing skills
Okay so its not a healthy hobby but its effective to keeping her a happy girl. She likes to flirt be it out right or subtle she's constantly on the flirty side. Most of the time she doesn't even know she's doing it.

Aside from that she likes to keep her basic maji skills up to par and practices daily. Teleportation and Phasing are her top priority as these abilities come in handy when in a pinch.

HABITS Blood Aurora
There are occassions when Kuu cannot sate the Blood arua within her and it tends to linger just under the surface. As such it has become an increasing habit where the aura would take over and cause a little mischief in her life. Either way she's not in complete control of this darker self so has to reign in all her strength to over come its control.

DREAMS To be normal

FEARS Herself...or more likely what's inside of her. (Aurora Blood)

PERSONALITY
Shy at first but friendly once she's come out of her shell. She's quite the flirt at times but means no harm. Kuu is a lofty girl indifferent by nature but she does have a heart and does care about her friends and the environment around her. Its just at times she doesn't have the energy to show her caring nature as she tends to go through a lot. Kuu puts other's before herself but has quite the selfish streak if need be. She is rather spoiled and has been for some time tending to get what she wants when she wants it...Either way just give in and all will be well.

AURORA BLOOD
An entity created by Kuu's foolishness to be normal. Collecting powerful magic to create sutra's to bind the demonic blood within her, Kuu has been on a quest for normality. In her quest she has only succeeded in strengthening the blood within her creating the entity Aurora Blood who steadily feeds off her lifeforce. With every successful sutra used, Kuu seals her fate as she will eventually lose herself to the growing entity within.

[Beginnings Pt. 1]
Kuu & Enikil

With a gleeful giggle the feline figure was content to spend the night wandering the festively lit streets, laterns strewn about as she gazed in awe at them. In her petite hands was a indigo latern which shown just as brightly as the laterns about her. Spinning she held up the latern as if to greet the others. "Aren't they pretty?" She questioned to no one in particular or perhaps the latern she carried. Most often she talked to herself or the environment around her.

Coming up along a path she noted someone standing off to the side as if listening in on someone. On tiptoes she snuck up behind him sniffing lightly as she peered over to see who else was about. Her tail flickered slightly as she spoke, "What'cha doing?"

===

Being so caught up in thought, he hadn't noticed the girl walk up behind him. Being rather skittish in nature, the red head jumped at the sound of the others voice. HIs green lanturn fell from his hand, only to be caught once more in a rather clumbsy and ungraceful manner. He turned to see who had managed to sneak up on him, green eyes uneasy as he calmed his nerves. " Uh...." He started, trailing off lamely. Chewing his lip softly, his pale complection seemed to glow from the lanturn he held to his chest.

"I'm.... well I was, well I still am but...." He stammered, becomming rather flustered as he stood there. A touch of pnk spread across his cheeks as he just seemed to be making a complete fool of himself; in front of a total stranger no less.

===

Kuu held the shape of an 'o' with her mouth as she watched the stranger start and fumble over his latern. A few times she jumped forward in anticipation of catching the latern should he miss but despite the clumpsiness he managed to keep hold of the latern. With a smile, Kuu straighted and bowed low at the waist. "I'm sorry for startling you like that. It probably wasn't the most polite thing to do. The names Kuu." She offered holding out her free hand, her tail came from behind her to settle about her waist as a belt before unwrapping itself and flittering about excitedly. Her feline eyes focused on the figure in front of her as she smiled a Cheshire like smile.

===

Soft green eyes blinked as he looked at the girl before him, a free hand fiddling with his hat. Watching her bow, he didn't know weather he was supposed to do it in return.

"Oh thats quite alright, no foul or error.." He smiled at her lightly, itching the side of his cheek lightly. Hesitating, he clutched the lanturn as she introduced herself to him with a kind, cat-like grin.

"Its nice to meet you Kuu, I'm Enikil" The red head spoke softly, immitating her bow. When he did that, his hat slipped off his head, free hand scrambling to keep it on. Hidden by his coat, a grey tail clung close to a leg as he stood there nervously. She had animal traits and didn't hide them, but she was clearly more confident with herself then he could ever be. Suddenly he noticed she too ha d alanturn, perhaps she knew a bit about this, but his questions could be alot different then hers.

"You have a lanturn too?" He asked, looking a bit closer at the purple papered lanturn in her hand.

===

Kuu giggled a few times noting Enikil's jitterish nature. It was easily to see and smell that he had various animal features but he did an interesting job of hiding them. Perhaps he was a bit reclusive about it? She cocked her head to the side in thought but quickly shook out of it when he introduced himself.

Looking to her lanturn and then to his she beamed brining it up in front of her, though by this time her tail had snagged the handle and so it left her hands free. "Yes I do." She spoke a frown marring her face in confusion. "Do you know anything about these?" she asked hopefully.

===

"I'm sorry to say that I don't know anything about the lanturns" Enikil sighed softly, rubbing hte back of his neck lightly. "That was part of the reason I came down here for" He added softly, shifting from foot to foot. He had come in search of Hakari, having known her a while back when SMAA was still together.

===

Kuu sighed a little disappointed but she perked up quickly enough. "Oh well I'm sure we can find someone who knows the details." she offered walking past him slightly to peek at where he was looking. Her tail brushed past him of its own accord still the lanturn being held in its grasp. After looking about she noted a few people in conversation but remained out of sight for the most part.

Returning her attion to Enikil she ventured to sit on a large bolder at her side. "Ah much better." She sighed softly. Taking a moment to look Enikil over she ventured to ask, "So why do you hide yourself?"

===

Enikil jumped slightly when the others tail brushed against him, ears twitching under his hat like mad. Silently followed her and stood in front of the bolder, which she sat on. He looked away when she asked on why he hid himself and sighed softly.

"Becuase.... well...I've just always been a bit uncomfortable about it, get picked on alot since I'm a mix breed of an odd kind" he replied softly, fiddling with the rim of his hat slightly.

===

Kuu smiled flicking her tail back and forth as the lanturn she held remained secure in her tail. "Oh.." She said simply at his explaination. "I guess that is a good reason but maybe they tease you because they know they get a reaction from you." She said simply picking at some imaginary lint on her bare leg.

"I suppose your right...." Enikil replied softly, taking his hat off for a moment. He raked a hand through his red locks, white ears flopping around. They were white and very soft and fluffy, they had a cute or almost charming look to them. He then pulled his hat back on and sighed. Looking over at Kuu, he walked over to the bolder she sat on and leaned up against it.

"You think anyone knows about these lanturns?" He asked, turning his green eyes up at her.

===

Kuu beamed at seeing his ears when he took his hat off and had to fight the urge to scritch them. But when he put the hat on it helped to quell those urges as her mind began to take in what he had just asked. "Hmm? I'm not really sure. We might need to go find an expert on the lanturns." She brought her tail in front of her taking the lanturn back in hand and looking at its violet-blue glow. It illuminated her caramel skin to an almost ghost like approach. Looking up her already lavender hair and violet eyes seemed even more so with the hue the lanturn gave off. "We should probably go ask those people over there." she thumbed behind her to the voices. "They seemed to be talking about the lanturns but I wasn't completely sure...you know. Easedropping an all its not very polite."

[Beginnings Pt. 2]
Kuu, Enikil & Xenos

Xenos was trying to figure out what she could do as she held the lanturn gently in her hands. The pinkish glow gave off a soft warmth that calmed her nerves as she looked around for others. "Um is there anyone here that could help me? I received this lanturn and I'm not quite sure how to take care of it." She felt silly for admitting that.

===

Kuu wiggled about nervously on the bolder as Enikil leaned against it, she was at a loss for what to do. Her ears perked up then hearing not too far in the distance someone else in as much distress as they. "Enikil looks like someone else is having trouble with their lanturn too." She pointed out heading over to the place she heard the sound. Sure enough a girl was walking up the path looking just as confused if not more. "Hello." Kuu offered as greeting to warm the girl to the presence of others. "My name's Kuu, this is Enikil." She pointed to the bunny-boy, behind her. "Are you looking for information too?"

===

Xenos smiled with some relief. She was weird that she would find no one, she looked at the girl who spoke,"Um...Hello Kuu, Enikil, I'm Xenos." She bowed slightly with the introduction. "Yes, I was hoping to find people here that could help with this little lanturn I received."

===

Enikil nodded to what the violet haired girl said, chewing on his knuckle lightly. "I knwo someone that may know what we need to know.... but I dont know..." he said softly, looking up skywards still. "I'm not even sure if she's behidn this but I just have a feeling you know?" Enikil smiled, red hair falling away from hsi face. HIs lanturn glowed brightly, as if the soul inside of it was restless and concerned about something. Feeling the lanturn move a bit on its own, the red head lifted it up to h is eye level.

As soon as he was done talking he noticed Kuu was talking to someone else, standing back to watch them tlak. He waved slightly when he was mentioned, holding his lanturn snugly.

===

Kuu shrugged in confusion as well looking behind her at Enikil who has spoken. She watched his lanturn seem to glow and wondered what was going on. "Um..." but before she could finish speaking her lanturn also seemed to glow more moving forward toward Enikil. "O...kay...this is freaky. Are they suppose to do that?"

===

Xenos chuckled, So we all have lanturns and no clue who to talk to about care? She was really surprised but happy at the same time that there were others. "SO shall we wait for look for some one?" Her lanturn seemed to glow brightly.

===

"Very strange..." Enikil mumbled softly, trying his best to keep a hold on the lanturn. It seemed to lurch towards Kuu's lanturn, the spirit inside going crazy. " I can assume either our lanturn lights or spirit things seem to either like each other or are fighting..." he concluded softly.

===

Kuu chuckled rubbing her lanturn in response. "I hope they like each other cause I'm not aware of how to stop a lanturn fight." She said, the rubbing seemed to calm her lanturn which slowed its glowing though the glow seemed to flicker as if it were laughing. "Ticklish are you?" Kuu question slowing her rubbing to find the lanturn keep its steady glow. She rubbed it again giving a little flick of her finger and the light began to glow on and off again. "Ah! Look..its ticklish!" she cried smiling at the aspects.

.R O L E P L A Y.
[Beginnings Pt. 3]
Kuu & Deven

Deven looked down at the piece of "cardboard". Why the hell did he buy the damn thing? The pale blue lantern glowed as he walked, throwing light upon the path before him. What was he going to do with it?? Put it on a shelf in his room? Ha - the spirit inside would really enjoy that, would it"

Pffh. Spirits. Whatever. That was nothing more than B.S. some lame attempt to give them some sort of mystical appeal. Yeah, and an excuse to jack up the price to something unreasonable. The more mysterious and strange, the more the human population loved it.

Blowing a few loose strands of his pink hair out of his face, the rainbow-socked boy trudged his way. Where the hell was he going, anyway? Why wander? There were places to go, people to see, and yet this . . . . this glowing thing . . .

No. No way. "This glowing thing" nothing! He was not being guided by a lamp, he was not being guided by a cardboard sphere. That was ridiculous. The only reason he was walking this way was because he wanted some fresh air. Yeah. That sounded about right. Fresh air.

Kicking up a few stones, he peered down at the glowing lantern. It seemed to pulse, to radiate, and it seemed surprisingly calm. For being an inanimate object, sure. Calm. And that light - that light just didn't seem to have a source. He couldn't find a candle, and even if it were, well. . .. .

Probably rigged. Some sort of cheap battery powered thing. It would die within a few days, he was sure.

"You gonna be worth the money I spent?" The boy had no idea why he started talking to the thing. In fact, he hardly even realized he was doing it. "Where you want - the corner shelf or would you rather sit on top of T.V.?"

The glow seemed to brighten, but Devan was oblivious. He refused to believe there was any soul or spirit or life in the lantern. No matter how detailed a story someone could tell him, no matter how much a person believed, it was nothing to Devan.

The jaded one just didn't care.

"Better keep you away from fire, you think? Afraid of matches? One light and that's it - poof!"

The lantern's glow seemed to dim at the thought as if afraid. But again, Deven was as oblivious as a blind aomeba sitting on a slide with the lights off. It just didn't register with the punk.

Heading down the path, he fell quiet as soon as he heard some voice. Rounding the bend, he paused, finding three others. Oh great. Company. And . . . . no way.

They all had lanterns too!

What. The. Hell.

===

Kuu was busy investigating the effects she could extract from her lanturn. A few times she would spin about until she got dizzy and fell to the ground laughing. The lanturn seemed to dim a bit then brighten for a while only to dim again. She eyed the lanturn hoping it wasn't uspet with her.

After getting her vision back, Kuu wanted to see if the lanturn liked water but didn't want to expose it too much. A puddle from a recent shower was near and she dipped down. "Do you like water?" she asked the lanturn. No response. "Hmm?" Dipping her tail in the water she brought it close to the lanturn and the light seemed to flash quickly the lanturn seeming to move away. "Alright no water for now. Maybe later yes?" The lanturn flickered as if to consider this.

After a few more experiments Kuu was satisfied to find the lanturn responded to her but just barely. It took an expert to learn all teh workings she was sure. An ear perked up at the harsh words sailing to her feline ears. Turning in that direction she followed the path to the glow of yet another lanturn, a light blue one. "Ooh..." she called bouncing over. "You have a lanturn too...that's great." she exclaimed, her own lanturn brightened in response as if in greeting. "Heh, seems my lanturn wishes to say hello."

===

Devan stared at the girl with ears and tails. Great. One of those freaks - one of those weirdo's that lurked the world. Bah. As if he had any right to judge! The man with the electric pink hair, bright rainbow stockings and teenage-mutant-ninja-turtle sandles wasn't exactly Mr. Normal himself.

Still, he didn't understand why people just couldn't be people. Were those ears natural? Or that tail? Part of him doubted it - you could get anything with surgery nowadays.

What bothered him even more was the fact that she indeed was holding a lanturn. A bright red one, that glowed just as brightly as his own, if not more so. Great. No, this was no fate, it was merely conincidence. Just what he needed, to be around a freak with a lanturn whom actually TALKED to it.

This woman didn't really think the lanturn was alive, did she?

This wa getting more and more ludicrous by the passing moment. Lamps didn't talk to each other. Cardboard boxes that glowed and had some ten-cent "story" attached to the price tag DIDN'T MEAN THEY WERE REAL!

"Uh," he started, a bit taken aback by her forwardness to talk AND how she insisted her lanturn was saying 'hello'. "Yeah, sure, maybe." He glanced down at the baby-blue coloured one, who's glow was soft.

On and off. On and off. Bright, than dimmer. Bright, than dimmer. "Mine doesn't communicate much, really. Being a cheap cardboard box that it is." His voice was sarcastic, and the look he flashed the lanturn was laced with distaste.

As if agreeing with Devan, the lanturn dimmed further, as if afraid to glow too bright and recieve further humiliation.

===

Kuu frowned slightly at the harshness of the man in front of her. Taking her lanturn by the tails he placed her hands on her hips glaring. "Why do you sound like your not excited to have a lanturn?" She questioned then shook her head, "Nevermind I don't want to know."

She looked at his lanturn kneeling slightly. "Don't listen to him. He knows nothing...trust me I was skeptical about things like this but when you've been around the world, just about anything is possible." She spoke to the lanturn completely ignoring the owner. After which she stood to her full height shooting sparks of annoyance at the owner.

"So why do you act like that?" she scanned him over looking up and down his form. "Why the hell do you wear those ugly socks is a better question...and pink hair?" Yes, Kuu was very straight forward once she was given the chance. She began walking around him sniffing lightly. "You seem normal enough no animal features." she ventured to say. "So what's your name, where do you come from...?" she began the barrage of questions anew.

===

Devan stared at the girl with the cat ears and that ugly tail. Freak. The word echoed through his mind. As she glared at him, the blue eyed boy glared right back. Who did she think she was, talking to him like that? Little Miss Full of Sunshine and Happiness. Blah. Just because she was perky didn't mean she had to rub it on everyone she encountered.

As the woman spoke his to cardboard box, he all but jerked it away, almost defensely. He hesistated, realizing maybe he too was acting silly over a stupid light. Looking down at the glowing thing, the boy gave a snort. "You're talking to a lamp. A light. An inanimate, personalityless, object." To prove his point, he shook it a little, showing the woman that nothing effected it.

"Why the rainbow socks? Why the pink hair?" Devan's voice was akin to acid. He gave a snort. "Gee - let's think about this one for a minute. Rainbows and pink. Hmmm. Oh, i don't know, maybe I like colour? Or perhaps I'm gay? Gee - maybe I have no fashion sense." He gave a snort, his walls starting to rise higher then ever.

What the hell was this? He'd been fine walking on his own, and suddenly he's attacked by some chick with ears and a tail. "What's with all the insults all of a sudden?? Why am I being attacked? You actually think this thing can hear me!?"

This truly was getting ridiculous. "I don't have to tell you anything, thankyouverymuch!" His words were more of a snarl and he looked upon the woman with irritation. She expected him to talk after insulting his hair and socks? Yeah. Like that was going to happen.

The pale blue light, if a lanturn could seem confused, was. Who did it listen to? What did it do? Unsure, it did the only thing it could - glow, though the light was still dim.

Kuu watched the man indifferently such an attitude for simple questions. Picking at some imaginary lint she gave him a bored look, though inside she was worried for the lanturn still it wasn't her lanturn so there wasn't much she could do.

Her lanturn didn't seem to like the indiffernet nature of its owner flickering at her to do something. Kuu looked down setting her lamp on the ground and kneeling to it. "Sorry but that old grump over there won't let me get near the lanturn." she whispered then stood up as she heard his tyrant fizzle.

"Ya finsihed?" She couldn't help but let out an uncharacteristic snort. "Man I simply ask a question and you go all out. If you really want to know why I'm attacking you...just thought you'd like to know how it feels. Cause that's how you're lanturn is feeling. Attacked." Kuu said this calmly she reached down with her tail to pick her lanturn back up and walked up to this inconsiderate man.

"I do believe they can hear us." She spoke softly. "And I do believe something will come of how we treat the lanturns. I also believe you feel the same, you're just too stuck on yourself to notice. Why the hell would the lanturn's be glowing the way they do for every little thing you do. Think about that you a**?" Kuu spoke up then, sunny character she had at times but when provoked she got more verbal. "God why do I always run into inconsiderate pricks like you?" She glared up at him her hackles rising as her features seemed to grow more wild then usual.

Her lanturn flickered wildly to calm her which worked as she looked down sighing deeply. "Alright I won't hurt him...at least not yet." she gave him another look walking away from him slightly sit on the bolder from before. "a**." she muttered under her breath rubbing her lanturn protectively.

===

Devan couldn't believe it. She was a hypocritical b***h - that was it. "Simply ask a question? Yeah, after insulting me beforehand. Always a fun segue into "simple" converstion." The pink haired boy kicked at the ground, glaring down at the dirt and the path.

Cripes. What the hell was he doing here!? This was not how he planned on spending his evening. Reaching up, he rubbed the bridge of his nose, frustration seething through his system. This. SUCKED.

Pride warred with humility - though Devan's conscience held no real guilt. He didn't do anything wrong! He called his lanturn a CARDBOARD BOX! "You know - how about this. You don't talk to MY light, and I don't talk to you! In fact, let's end this conversation now and I go back on my cheery way. Have fun with your little nightlight and believe all the magical fairy stories you want. That's not my problem OR my concern, girlie."

There. Whatever.

If he stayed he'd think about pulling the stupid ears off her face and goodness knew what else. His eyebrow ticked as he glanced back down at his light. And all over a stupid lanturn. Niiiice.

Deep down, Devan honestly liked the little thing. It was pretty, and it gave out a sort of gentle, reassuring glow. But like hell if he'd admit that. At least not out in front of insane folk like the cat-girl. This was his lanturn, and no matter what she said to it, he could treat it however he wanted.

It wasn't like he was going to rip it pieces or drop it out of a 10 story building. Hell no! He paid good money for it. It would be stupid to let it go to waste. Besides, maybe (if it even was alive) it could make friends with his lavalamp or glow-sticks. They'd all share what they had in common. You know.

"Have fun with your nightlight," he sneered, blowing a few strands out of his face before scuttling the way he came.

The little lantern, in all it's gentle, hazy-blue glowing, seemed desperate. It's glow, still dim, seemed to brighten and soften in no particular pattern. It seemed upset - that wasn't how things were supposed to have happened.

===

Kuu blinked listening to him going on and on... for some reason she couldn't hold it back but she laughed. Point blank and in his face she began to laugh a tinkling sound which came from deep within her. Damn, was he high strung. she though snickering now as her laugh had died down.

Standing to her feet she began walking toward him shaking her head. "Alright so I shouldn't have insulted you. Whatever..." she was hardly going to apologize. "But, you shouldn't get so offensive about it. They're simple words you know. For one that spits just as harsh words out you sure as hell can't take them." She was one to talk, all he had said did hit a cord in her, but she was reclusive when it came to how she felt...how she truly felt. If she were anyone else she'd be crying perhaps, begging him not to treat his lanturn as he did... but she wasn't anyone else so.

"Look my name is Kuu. And laugh if you want to, I didn't have say in my name upon birth." She glared figuring he'd take that as cue to laugh at her expense. "How bout we call a truce and look for someone to explain this stuff about the lanturns. If they don't satisfy you then take off... at least do that." Her lanturn flickered wildly as if happy about this idea. Kuu smiled rubbing it affectionately. She was trying to mend things but that was all she could do, it was up to this guy to actually accept. Fat chance of that.

===

Devan hadn't appreciated being laughed at. In fact, he hadn't appreciated anything the cat-girl had said AND done to him at all! Highstrung? HIGHSTRUNG!? She didn't even begin to see what highstrung meant! She might have a careless life, but that wasn't living. With her stupid fake smiles and overall perkiness. If she wanted to live a life like that then fine. She could be his guest!

Just because Devan wasn't relaxed, wasn't open, and didn't like to have his TOTALLY AWESOME rainbow socks made fun of didn't mean he was a bad guy. He just had issues - like every other leaving creature on the face of the universe.

Glancing over his shoulder, studying her with a cool, emotionless [removed](except for his eye brow tick) the pink hared one gave a soft snort. "Yeah, well, if I'm not supposed to be so sensetive to " simple words", then you shouldn't b***h at me for using "simple words" to my lanturn!" Hypocrite. HYPOCRITE! He all but wanted to scream at her, but held his tongue in check.

He hadn't planned on getting angry. In fact, he had planned on a nice relaxing night - So far that wasn't happening.

Snorting, he glanced away from her, listening her ramble on about her name. Coo? Whatever. At least she seemed to be civalized for once - which was all he'd been! It wasn't as if he'd attacked her but . . . drop it.

He just had to let it go.
He didn't have to win this fight because it was completely stupid, pointless, and there was no sense wasting his breath on a girl like her.

The glow of the lanturn seemed to brighten, ever so gently, as if it agreed. Looking down at the lamp, he decided he'd try this again. One more time. And he'd try extra hard to keep his sarcasm out of it. "Alright -starting over. It would be nice to find someone who could straighten out the reality from the fantasy." No, he wasn't accusing Kuu of being fantasy-based (though the ears and tail made it really hard to argue out of it) but . . .

Lanterns didn't have life.

Funny how he had no idea he wasn't holding a meager "lantern".

Turning to face her fully, he stuck out his hand. See? He could play nice with enough self-control. "Devan. And this here is Lampy." See? HA! A JOKE! As if she'd get it. Whatever. If she wanted to talk to her paper light, he could give his a nickname.

See? He'd try to play nice with the local nutcases. At the very least, Devan could humor this Kuu person. The gentle glow of the light seemed to flicker brightly, but it was hasty and it quickly resumed it's soft glow. As if it didn't want to interrupt things, or upset Devan or Kuu again.

Things seemed better now. Barely. But even that was a start.

[Beginnings Pt. 4]
Kuu & Deven

Strangely enough Kuu had already forgotten the whole incident...yeah right. She just choose not to bring it up so long as he didn't. She could still feel something shimmering under the surface, they probably wouldn't get alone much in the future. Plenty of bickering, Kuu sighed inwardly that wasn't something she was looking forward too. Taking his hand she shook it moderately not trying to be forceful or rude.

As for the joke, she could have gagged herself. "Thanks, lets just look for someone already. I'm eager to learn the details on this." She said, her voice was void of the bouncy lithe it had before, more clipped and quick. Her usual bright attitude was dimenished to a more placid mood.

Turning abruptly, Kuu listened out for the voices she'd heard earlier. Her ears twitched slightly in various directions but the voices had seemed to move away. "Oh that's just great." She grumbled. She turned to look at Devan her features seeming tired. He did look rather funny, cute in a way but still hilarious. She clapped a hand over her mouth to stiffle a few giggles, and reached a hand out in warning. "Please don't take it personal, you just...your just too adorable. Weird yes but adorable just the same. I can't help but laugh. I'm sorry really." she still giggled a bit but eventually got herself under control. "Really lets just see if the lanturns can find the people we're looking for."

===

Devan didn't care that her voice was much more placid and laid-back. Not nearly as bright and shiny as she'd been earlier. At least her head was back down from those clouds of sunshine she'd been riding on earlier.

Looking around, the boy had no idea where to begin to look! Obviously she knew there were others like themself. Somehow. Where would they even go to get answers. That shop?

Maybe. But that was waaaay back - somewhere. The more Devan thought about it, the less he could think about where it had been in town. Somewhere. There were buildings involved, and a few street lamps.

Devan stood silently as the cat's ears twitched. Funny to see a being with such large, misplaced ears. What was she? Some sort of cat-crossbreed? Eh - it didn't matter. She wasn't normal and she wasn't human, no matter what. Looking down at the baby-blue lanturn, he shifted boredly.

Her sudden giggling did break him out of his reverie. Oh dear. Looking up, a twitch of defensiveness suddenly rising, he stared out at the woman. Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait. a. minute. Adorable? "Weird I can take," he admitted, the slightest of smiles tugging on his lips. He tried to fight it - he couldn't smile at her. No no NO! But it failed. "But adroable?" The look that crossed his features was a cross between misery and curiousity.

Nobody ever called him adorable.
Even his parents - ESPECIALLY his parents.

Shaking his head, he gave a little snort, but it wasn't out of spite or hate. He just didn't know how else to respond. "Well, what do you expect us to do? Hold 'em up? See which way the flicker the brightest?"

As if that was going to work. "Guess it couldn't hurt," he lied. Again, he'd entertain her since she truly believed these lights had some sort of soul and personality. It was a ridiculous sort of reason, but if the girl wanted to believe it, he'd let her. It would save him another tongue lashing, at the very least. He'd quickly learned not to argue with the cat. "Lead the way."

===

"Yay!" Kuu exclaimed back on cloud nine as he didn't seem to get too offensive over her calling him adorable. As she lifted her lanturn she began to rub it lightly. "Alright if you can sense the others light up for me yes?" The lanturn light for a brief moment then went dim returning to its normal glow. "See?" she pointed out looking behind her at Devan. "It does understand or it wouldn't glow like that."

She began walking forward down the path nothing really happening from the lanturns, save her's doing its best to interact with Devan's. She watched them for a while, intertained just the same. To give her lanturn a better position to speak (or something like that) she stood next to Devan shooting him a silly smile as she chuckled yet again. Her lanturn glowed brightly in greeting to the other then dimmed back to normal.

"So did you really give your lanturn a name. Or is cardboard box name enough or how about lampy as you said?" Kuu was still mulling over names in her mind. "I think I'm naming mine Tlanextli." She smiled at the prospects always the type to give her possessions strange and exotic names.

===

Devan watched, still unimpressed, as her dark blue lanturn did indeed glow, briefly, when asked. Well, that could be anything, the logical part of his mind argued. A slight guest of wind? A flicker of the wick of the candle inside? Or even a bug, finding its last seconds on earth, caught within the bright candle's light!

It could've been coincidence, but Devan held his tongue. He wasn't going to pick a fight again, not when she seemed to be back on the giddy track.

Walking with her, he kept his lanturn held carefully within his multi-ringed hands. It wasn't necessarily a loving position (unlike Kuu's gentle petting of her own lanturn) but it was firm. And, in his own way, he was protective of the object. Right now, it was because it did cost him money. All he needed to do was drop it in some puddle or mud, and that would be that.

Devan didn't pay his lanturn much heed, or the interraction his blue one was having with the darker one. Softly, the light seemed to brighten every now and then, in an almost nervous, paranoid fashion. If a light could seem happy, it was - in a sporradic, twitchy sort of way.

"Names? Cardboard Box is a pet name, I suppose." His blue eyes drifted down to study the lamp, before he shrugged his shoulders half-heartedly. "I don't really name lamps and lights, or anything that doesn't move on its own free will." His voice wasn't sarcastic or mocking, merely honest. That was all there was to it, really. He wasn't one for names - though Cardboard Box did hold some sort of silly appeal.

"If this thing's really alive," he continued, glancing over at the cat girls and her lamp, "I'll let it tell me its name." That would work - as if that was going to ever happen! Devan was still skeptical, but maybe, with time, and some damn find evidence, he'd start to believe that it wasn't just a rip-off buy from the man at the stall.

"Tlanextli is kind of pretty though. Very . . . different." And he meant that in a good way - he really truly did!

Kuu walked along listening in on Devan's words. She had wanted to strike up some conversation considering things had gotten to a rocky start. Chancing a glance his way she smiled nodding. "Well when it does begin to move on its own, I'm sure it'll be willing to give its name."

Kuu looked down lifting her lanturn. "I wonder if I should just wait to see if it has a name already?" She spoke out loud, the lanturn glowed a bit nothing drastic or noticable. Kuu then just heard Devan complement her on the name, turning curious eyes she looked up at him. "Really? You think its pretty?" That was something she wouldn't have expected him to say. Quickly she bounced up smiling, "Thanks." she turned to her lanturn, "Do you like it?" The lanturn didn't really respond but that didn't mean it didn't like it. Shrugging, she stopped on the path sitting on the ground. "I'm hungry." that was clear out of left feild but truth be told she hadnt eaten much all day. "Know of any food joints in the area?"

[Home Sweet Home]
By Kuuroinochou

Returning home after the latern festival was most tiring. Having T'li in hand, Kuu smiled as the indigo blue glow of the lantern filled the entry way of her home. Listening out for the sound of feet she was greatly rewarded with thus. Two pair of feet came sauntering around the corner at the sound of her entrance. "Kids?" she called, as they came into sight.

"Hey mom..." came the girls voice as she eyed the lantern in her mother's hand. "What's that?"

Kuu chuckled patting Leiko over the head as she walked by. "Something I picked up at a festival."

"Again..." came the snarky voice of her son, Sefu. With him was the smaller form of her adopted child Nailah. She was content to knawing on her brother's shirt as he entered the hall with her on hip. "You always go out to by things and they end up being something we have to watch or take care of. What about this time?" He asked juggling Nailah on his hip and trying without success to rest his soggy shirt from her.

"I know baby, but it was an accident really. I just happened upon a few men arguing over a lamp and well. I bought a few, sadly the other one got ruined in the rain and its light flickered. I could only keep this one safe."

Leiko came around to inspect the lamp. "So its alive...is it like Ramen?"

Kuu chuckled. "Perhaps. We'll just have to see, Ramen is still fermenting and so this little one here is probably waiting to get out too. Will you help me take care of them?"

Leiko smirked. "We don't really have a choice. Ever since Nailah showed up we've been watching all of your pets while you run out to get more."

"They are not pets." Kuu protest child like to her kids. The kids however smirked knowingly to themselves and groaned. "At any rate I should be cooking dinner. Here take the lamp and place it on the desk in my room." She handed the lanturn to Leiko who did as told.

Sefu followed his mother into the kitchen where he set Nailah down in her high chair. "I'm gonna go get cleaned up." He offered waiving a hand over his shoulder as he left.

Kuu chuckled turning to Nailah. "Well you liked the lamp didn't you?"

"Tlanextli..." cooed the cherub infant as she slapped her hand on the surface of her high chair.

"What's that... Tlanextli?" Kuu questioned the strange gibberish smiling to herself. "You want me to give the lanturn a name?"

"laalaala..." Nailah cooed again.

"Alright I will but I'll have to think things over."

"Tlanexti!"

"Yes I heard you sweetie but names are important and we can't just rush into them. I'll ask around see if its a decent name for the lanturn yes?"

"Ko!"

Kuu smiled at Nailah as the kids entered the room. She continued preparing their meal. After which she went to her room noting how it was illuminated by the lanturn alone. "How you doing?" she asked smiling.

The lanturn flickered brightly in response. "I hope you don't mind our eating without you. Its gonna take some time for them to get used to you...oddly I have a habit of picking up strange items. You are rather strange but I'll do my best to make you feel welcomed and keep you cared for." Kuu offered sitting on the edge of her bed as she spoke to the lanturn.

"So, just one thing. My infant daughter Nailah, she sleeps with me in this room. Think you can dim your light somewhat during bed time?" The lanturn dimmed as if to show the level of its abilities. The room grew rather dark save for the hollow light of the lanturn which didn't reach any further than the lanturn itself. "Yes that's good." The lanturn went back to normal in a gesture of agreement.

"Well I'm going to go get everyone settled for bed. So maybe you should get yourself ready too." the laturn flickered in agreement settling into a soft glow. Kuu smiled walking over to the lanturn to caress its outter surface softly. "Good night little light."

[Just Another Day]
By Kuuroinochou

The next day was rather eventful as Kuu ushered the children to school in the morning dropped Nailah off at the painted souls gallery and gave Ramen a little gogo time at his shop. Kuu was left with her new lanturn as he glowed sofly within her grasp.

She decided a day alone with the lanturn was in order. Well she did have to clean the house and this was the best time to do so. As she swept the entry way, she had the lanturn hanging on a clip in the doorway. It shown brightly as if humming a silent tune to itself watching Kuu go about cleaning.

"The day is lovely out don't you think?" Kuu spoke to the lanturn. It flickered and seemed to move on its hook in agreement. Kuu chuckled sweeping the debris she had collected into a dust pan and disposing the garbage in the trash bin. "Well once I get done here we can go out for a nice walk. Would you like to see that nice light blue lanturn again?" she asked.

T'li flickered in excitement and Kuu could only answer in laughter. "Alright, we'll just have to contact Devan, hopefully he isn't still grumpy with me." Kuu however had no idea other things in Devan's life had been changed but she wanted T'li to find a friend and have more company with others.

After cleaning she wrapped up for the wintery weather and gathered T'li in hand. "And we're off." she announced cheerfully heading down the path toward the lanturn shop in hopes of finding other lanturn owners.
