Lothaenorixius moved away from his family. It was too much for him to handle for the moment. There were so many of them. How could he keep up with everyone. They all talked at once, except one who hardly talked. He was almost afraid that she was like her mother, but he heard a word or two from her, which eased that feeling. He wanted to help Nanu more then anything with her voice, but how could he? He didn't really believe in gods, but in spirits instead. If there was some spirit that would help her, that could help her, he'd go to it.
He slowly moved away father, but hadn't noticed he was being fallowed. At least not yet. He didn't think his pups would ever try to follow him. At least not yet. They were all young and clung to their mother, except for a few who seemed a little rebellious, and more like him then he could possibly imagine. He loved them, and it scared him so much. Since he'd never felt any of these emotions until Nanu had come along. It was all odd for him, and he needed to get away to think.
He figured he'd roam the land alone, and maybe have one or two flings with females here and there, but never.... Never did he expect to have a family. One that he cared for, one he didn't want to be apart from longer then a few hours. One that made him feel like smiling all the time. It was better then the stupid objects he was obsessed with before, well still obsessed with. They were a different type of treasure, and he didn't know how to take it.
He signed and stopped moving after he felt he was far enough away. Yet close enough to hear someone call for him. It wasn't that he didn't want to be with them now, he just couldn't. They were all loud, and it was giving him a small headache. He figured Nanu needed to get away from it all for a few moments too, which was why he watched the little rug rats as she went off to hunt. It was the least he could do for her having ten of his children.
Aesthrondalaurai had been the only one who saw her father escape from the loudness of her siblings. Curiosity made her follow. She looked to her sister she always had with her when she went places, but she seemed to be busy with something else. Letting Laurai slip away unnoticed. It was nice to get away from all her stupid siblings. Only Lyriddel was good enough to hang around. Lyriddel was her second in command. Being a princess, she needed a lady in waiting, and Lyriddel was it. Even though, they both were princesses, but that didn't stop her from thinking that Lyriddel was more the type for a second in command then royalty. She was shy, and quiet, and not as pretty as Laurai.
She watched her father, as she slinked behind him. So easy it was to stalk someone, maybe she was a natural after all. She wondered if she'd be a good hunter when she was older, though why would she hunt? She was a princess, she shouldn't have to do any of the dirty work, they had to do it for her. She was really snotty, and thought she was the best thing that walked the earth. After seeing that vision that suggested she was a princess, cause her mother was when she was in a pride. It made Laurai happy to think about it.
He stopped. It made her stop, and watched him. Though she moved towards him slowly. Letting him know she was there now. She needed to spend time with him alone. She figured he was much better then she had first thought when she saw him. She wanted to be loved by her father more then anything. Though, she didn't want to admit that. She looked up at him with her eyes. Her icy blue selfish eyes. She couldn't help but wonder what was on his mind, but she had a feeling it was about her. Well, everything was about her, wasn't it? If it wasn't, then it just wasn't worth even being mentioned or thought of.

Lothaenorixius still didn't notice the greenish pup. His eyes blinded by the thoughts in which he had been thinking. Everything seemed like a dream. Some good, some bad. If he died right now, would he really die? He signed and shook his thoughts out of his eyes for a moment, which was when he noticed something else was where he was. It was hard to miss Aesthrondalaurai, since the ground had little grass, and seemed like a waste land, but it was his home. He loved it. It was beautiful to him. There were bushes here and there around the land, and blotches of grass here and there too. But mostly rock and dirt was where their home was. Which was common when your home was a cave on the side of a rather sharp hill thing.
He didn't know what to do at first, but stare at the pup. Her icy blue eyes seemed to pierce him as he looked in to them with his black ones. The first thing that came to his mind was how long she had been there. He wanted to know, he didn't want to think she had been there too long. It was almost like her eyes could read him. Read him like a book. Her mother's eyes were the same way. Though, he never noticed it until now. Had that made it easy for her to realize that he was happy? Or did she not know he was happy.
"Aesthrondalaurai, you shouldn't be out here." he spoke finally, he was able to find words from somewhere. He hardly spoke since he had been around Nanu, but since the pups where now there, it felt odd having to speak. Though, they wouldn't understand his body language like Nanu did. They probably knew hers since that was the only way she could communicate with them. "Run back to your mother, it's dangerous out here" He told her. Though, that wasn't entirely true. He was out there, and would risk his neck for her if he had to. Though he rather avoid that.
Though, she didn't seem to move. "What is it that you need?" He asked now with a sigh. He knew he couldn't get her to go back to her mother unless she got something out of him that she wanted. She was a bit of a pain in the butt it seemed. Though, he was much like him in ways, yet more like her mother in others. Though the sweet factor of Nanu missed Laurai completely. He wondered if he was like that before he met Nanu. Everything seemed rather foreign before he had met Nanu. He honestly forgot how he was almost..... Almost. The greed would never leave him, nor some of his bitter attitude.
Aesthrondalaurai listened to the words that came out of his mouth. She stayed quiet until he realized she didn't want to leave and wouldn't until she was satisfied. He had learned fast that she was the one that decided when she was to do things. Though her mother was another story. She would not fight with her. Her mother had a way about telling her she was in trouble with no words coming out of her mouth. Though, daddy seemed like a real sucker so far. "I just want to be out here with you." She said in a sort of whiny voice. "it's too loud in there" She added knowing that he'd agree to that.
She was good at telling lies, at least she thought so. She could live pretty easily in a loud area. As long as everyone worshiped her. Which they would all do eventually. Where her father was greedy for items, she was greedy for attention, and love. She rubbed up on her father and smiled up at him. She hardly knew him, but knew he was her father. She smelled close to him, yet like her mother to. "Mommy said I should spend more time with you anyways. " she said with another smile.
Of course that was probably a lie, she didn't remember if any of the looks Nanu gave her popped out and told her to go hang with him. Though, Loth couldn't really say it was false or not. "Daddy, Will you teach me how to find pretty things like yours?" She asked him. She didn't know weather that was the thing to ask or not. But she wanted her own little batch of pretty things to wear. Not like what her dad had on now. No... those were boy things. She wanted pretty girl things. Like her mother's just better. She had to have the best, and she wanted to be the one to find it.

He sighed. He knew something like this would come as soon as they got a little older. Lothaenorixius left all the tiny pup stuff to Nanu. He was afraid he would squish them if he tried to lick them. But now they were a bit bigger. He was waiting for one to sort of follow his lead, though he was hoping it was to be a son of his, not his daughter. He couldn't expect less of it though. He had a feeling that Laurai would be the first to follow his greedy treasure leads for her own greedy ideas which he knew she was greedy. It was hard not to know. She was selfish, rude, and down right unpleasant when she wanted to be.
Much like his own childhood. He tried to mask it, but it didn't work. "Well, what are you looking to try to find?" He asked her. If anyone was to teach her his ways, it best be him doing it. At least then he'd get more. Since whatever was hers, was his too. He shifted so he could lay down and be about the height she was when she stood up. He couldn't help but feel warm from her affection towards him like any father would when their child showed them love. Well, at least a father who loved his children back. Even if they were meanish.
"You have to have in sight of what you want, instead of wondering around aimlessly" He told her as a tip. If she knew what to look for, she would do well in the life of searching for treasures. At least he was good at something, and that was hoarding, and being greedy. It was, at times, good thing to pass on in his eyes. He wasn't sure how well Nanu would like it. But she didn't have to know that he taught Laurai about it. There were plenty of ways she could have gotten the idea instead of from him, right? The huge pile of crap he collected. Most of it was pretty shiny stuff that hairless crazy things that walked on two legs had dropped now and then.
"Then, you need to know what to do with it when you get it." He said with a nod towards his pile of things. "it's probably not best to keep it like I do." He added with a laugh. "I just got too much stuff to put on myself." He added with a nod. "But, if you can protect it like I can, then it's perfectly fine to do that." He added to make sure he didn't miss any of the basics. He was having fun telling her stuff like this. It was a real father daughter moment.
"Well, I want red rocks." Of course they were not rocks. Aesthrondalaurai just didn't know what they were. Eventually she will learn. Though she wished to learn what they were now. "I think I'd be pretty with red, like mommies blue." She told him. She took in everything that he said about the stuff. She had to make sure she knew it all before going threw with her plans. She hoped he'd help her in looking for stuff. Or give her the ones he's already picked up.
"What if I don't want a huge pile? Just enough to keep on me? " She asked him curiously. Though she was sure she'd end up with more then plenty of stuff. It wasn't the point, she just wanted to get her first goal before trying for anything else. " Red is a real pretty color" She added. There wasn't much she could really say now. She was waiting for more instructions. Perhaps he'd even show her first hand. Which was what she was hoping for completely. She kinda knew it might not happen though. "can you show me... Like find something and tell me if it's good or not?" She asked her father with her icy eyes. They were as cold as they looked.

Lothaenorixius licked his lips as she talked. Rubies was what she wanted? Well, naturally. She'd want one of the hardest stones to find. He didn't know what to say other then he could always have her look for the fake rubies which were more see threw then real ones. He figured she'd realize they were fakes sooner or later. But did that matter? By then she'd be old enough to get them herself if she really desired them.
"Well, that's easy. Those are Rubies." He said with a nod. He was all for lying if it was going to benefit him in a way. This would benefit him more ways then just him not wanting to find them. That way she can find fake ones around close by, rather then having to go far away to try to find the real ones. "There's tons of them." He said with a nod. "Hard to find." He added to make it sound a little harder then it could be. "You'll have to dig for some." He added.
"And, that's the best way to go." He added to her comment about only wanting enough to wear. "Then you don't have to worry about people stealing anything. I'd say to go for that way." He said with a nod. "All you got to do is find stuff with them already made together. It's not easy." He added.
It really wasn't you had to wait for some funny mostly hairless two legger, or talk to a god that he didn't think existed. Rumors of gods filled his ears each day. How ridiculous was that? No matter, he'd not mention any of that to his daughter. "When your older I'll show you. Your still a very small child. "he said even though she'd protest to him saying that. He didn't care. He was more worried about her safety then stupid accessories she wanted.
Loth was most certainly right, Aesthrondalaurai had a problem with him not showing her now. Though, she knew she couldn't convince everyone to do things for her. "Why not?!" She whined at him in the most childish voice she could ever say it in. She wanted to sound upset enough to where he would give in, but she figured it wouldn't work. It was worth a shot, at least. She was standing, her whole face to his nose. He was so huge, and she tiny.
She didn't realize how small she was until just then. Figured it was best to wait, even if she hated waiting. She'd make Lyriddel join her on their own and she'd do it herself with out her father's help. She didn't think of dangers that existed out in this world, No, She only thought of things to do with herself, and getting hurt wasn't one of them. Weather or not she'd ever realize it until she was older would be another story in her life.
"Fine!" she finally said seeing as it was useless trying to ask more on the subject, she figured she'd change it slightly. "What is your favorite type of rock?" She asked him curiously. She wanted to know everything about her father one bit at a time. Her little mind was full of questions. Though, she could only say one at a time. That way she wouldn't over whelm even herself. Questions keep popping in her head, yet she could only ever say one at a time.

Lothaenorixius didn't like the way she had said that, but she was a kid, she was meant to be rebellious right? He didn't let him eye at her for too long before moving to the other question in which she asked. He thought about that, he liked all about the same. He pondered it, since he really hadn't put much thought in to what his favorite was. "I suppose I like them all" He said with a nod. Yes, that was the best answer for it.
"Anything that's really good in my eyes I like equally." It was odd to say, but it was the truth for the most part. He was wondering why she was asking him questions. But he didn't feel like really knowing the real answer. Kids were kids, and they learned with questions, right? As did most adults. He had to add to his thoughts. He shifted more to where he was laying on his die now. Bored, but not really wanting to walk away from his daughter. He figured it wouldn't work anyways, she'd just follow him.
He didn't close his eyes, but he wasn't looking at Aesthrondalaurai. He, in fact, wasn't looking at anything in particular. He made his eyes blurry so he didn't have to look at anything. Though, it probably wasn't really good for his eyes. Yet, he didn't care. He wasn't as young as he use to be. At least he felt ten years older since the cubs had come.
She wasn't satisfied with his answer, but felt that was all she was going to get out of him about that. Her tail flicked back and forth as he laid down. She moved in front of his face again. Sitting down now as she looked at him with a false smile, that looked realish. At least she felt it looked real. "What are your eyes black?" She asked. It was a stupid question, but it seemed like something she needed to know.
Did one have control over their eye color? She wondered if she could change hers red some how. She thought about trying to do that eventually, but she'd have to figure out how to do that. For now she just eyed her father's eyes "Can you change them? "she asked another question. Though it was ok to ask since it was related to the last question. She hated going off topic unless she wanted to. Which was what she was doing. Trying to get him far from the thoughts of what she originally asked him about finding stones.
Of course, he probably wouldn't forget so easy, but she didn't know that. Her attempts were to try to help her be able to look for things like he did without being noticed or stopped. She thumped her tail upon the ground as she watched him curiously. Making it look like she was happy to just ask him the simplest questions she could possibly think. The where ones she wanted to ask, but not the ones she thought were too important.

"what?" He raised a brow, now looking at his daughter. Was she serious? "No.. You can't change your eye color." He told her "And my eyes are black because of my mother." He told her. Though he wasn't exactly sure if that was true, it had been so long since he'd seen his mother's eyes. Though he was sure that's where he got them. At least, that's what he was going to stick too. Not like he could be proven wrong. Both his parents were dead. Oddly enough, he didn't feel sad about it either. "You can't really pick how you look, just what you put on yourself." He added just in case she might have any other strange question.
It made him feel stupid, answering questions a little kid was asking. But what else can he do? He signed. If he ignored her, she'd probably make a huge scene, causing all the others in the cave only a few yards away to come out and see what was the matter. Which he still wanted to be alone.... At least, mostly alone. He could handle one pup at a time. More then that, it seems it'd be a problem. It was part of being a parent, though would be the thing he could never get use to... Questions. He liked silence, and no questions involved... Unless it was him asking them, of course.
She frowned, not pleased again with what he had told her. She'd prove him wrong one day, but how? She'll figure it out if she remembered. She edged closer. "Why can't mommy talk?" She asked. One question she really wanted to know. It would be interesting to have her mother talk when she couldn't. She wondered if there was a way to do that. As well as wondered how annoyed she was making her father. But that was just part of the fun of this whole thing.
"Will she ever be able to talk?" Perhaps he wasn't going to be able to answer most of her questions, but at least she could say them out loud then keep them in. Maybe she'd forget some of the ones she was thinking in her mind. And keep a hold of the ones that really mattered. Though, her mother not speaking mattered a little bit more then most of her other questions, but she was curious to see if he actually had an answer for it.

Will the questions ever stop?! The longer he sat there, the more questions she asked. Each time, they seemed to get harder and harder to answer. He sat up now, letting his eye's fall upon the small greenish blue girl in front of him. How innocent she looked, yet she was anything but. He was now frowning at her question. How was he suppose to answer that? It was starting to get to him. It was one of the questions he wanted to find out himself, but how was he suppose to tell this little pup that he had no idea what was wrong with her? He'd just have to wing it a bit.
"Well, sometimes the gods are cruel to those who are nice and take things from them." He said. It seemed like a good lie to give a young pup such as herself. She believed in gods right? She must, with the mother like hers. "Sometimes it's an eye, or both, a voice, or even parts such as legs and tails." he said with a nod. He remembered seeing some helpless animals missing body parts. Always wondering the story that had lost those parts, but he never had the patience to listen to such stories.
"Then I must be lucky with the gods." She said with a smile. "I'm perfect!" Of course she'd think that. She smiled happy, finally satisfied with at least one thing her father told her. She wonder if that's how it was suppose to be. A ton of disappointments, then once in a while a good thing would come to her ears. She really didn't know much about normal families, and was sure hers was far from normal. Having so many brothers and sisters made things very interesting. At least she always had someone to play with.
Which reminded her. She was probably being looked for by Lyriddel now. Who was lost without her, or at least in Aesthrondalaurai's eyes she was lost without her. Whatever made Laurai feel better about herself. She wondered if she should go look for her and leave her father alone for the time being, or sit here and annoy him more, She knew that's what she was doing more then anything. Oh, it was fun too.

He smiled at her comment about being perfect. She wasn't, no one was, but he wasn't going to say that. He wanted her to have happiness as a cub, and slowly learn the world instead of learning it young like he did. She'd learn things for herself slowly, even if they meant she'd get hurt by them in the future. But that was the great thing with life, things seemed to happen for the better in the end. Right?
"Indeed, all you kids are perfect" He said with finally standing up. It was probably best to head back to the rest of them now. While their disappearance was still unnoticed. That way no one would question their escape, which was what he was hoping to do. "We should get back before we give your mother a heart attack" He said with a smile as he turned and started to walk off towards the den.
Aesthrondalaurai didn't agree with that. She was the only perfect one, no one else was. Of course, she decided not to say anything when he mentioned getting back to the others. At least he was thinking similar to her for the moment. She wanted to get back to her sister and tell her all of what she had found out about treasures and such. They'd go on a treasure hunt sometime in the future... The soon future if Laurai could help it. She smiled smuggly as she followed her father towards the front of the cave.
END.
