The ears annoy me. Ugly horse is ugly.

I love Fjord Horses- ties into my heritage (I'm 5/8 Norwegian, first gen. American on my father's side, he was born in Nigeria, his parents are from Bergen and Oslo) and they're perfectly proportioned for me. And all the ones I've met have super sweet expressions.

I saw a bunch of Marwaris when I was in India Standards of horsemanship there are not what they are in the USA... I'm personally a huge Akhal Teke fan. My trainer took two of her mares to FEI level dressage, they evented their stallion a little before he broke his neck in a trailer accident (and is still alive! 10 years later!), and her sister had several that she used to endurance race on. I apparently have no pictures of our horses... but That looks almost exactly like Boris, only skinnier. Very typical Teke conformation though. Kind of ugly, but VERY efficient. Like a Dream to ride. This is Sengar, our stallion's full brother And the most distinguished representative of the breed, Absent. Current world record holder for most Olympic Dressage medals won by a single horse (6). Under two different riders to boot. Rembrandt tied his record, but no one has beaten it yet. And he's just gorgeous and expressive. smile And out stallion is a direct descendant of his xd .... I may be mildly obsessed. It's more than a little possible.

I'm Norwegian as well and I'm dying to have a few Fjords. I want to drive and ride them. It's a little irritating, because there are a few people that say that they're nasty, mean little horses. My grandparents were from Norway and they had a few when I was a kid and he'd set me on them and they were as good as gold. The few others I've met have all been very good minded, good natured horses.

All of the ones I've met have been worth their weight in gold. I figured they'd be a lot like working with Halflingers, which I don't mind, but they're not my favorite, but they were completely different. Much more... trainable I guess. Not that halflingers are un-trainable, but I think you get what I mean. I can see where, through incorrect handling, they could get nasty though. They're very powerful little horses, and most of the ones I've met are fairly intelligent. If you try to treat them like a pony, then you'll have problems. But if you treat them like a horse and have firm and definite authority, then they're awesome.

I love the marwari's ears, lol. I personally looove furiosos. They're essentially the hungarian sport horse. But they have a really nice TB look to them that I really like. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furioso-North_Star

That's interesting that furiosos had 2 seperate lines - driving/riding. I wonder what the conformation specs were for each. Maybe a heavier build for the drivers? Also, would we be talking about driving to town vs. driving as a plow horse.... hmmm.....

Is there a breed standard for Curlies? I mean, is it like color breeding where you just breed for the shape (color) of the hair folical? What's the point of being hypoalergenic if the horse is boarded out in a barn full of typical horses (hairs, hay, dust, mold, rodent scat, etc)?

There's more information on Curly's at their registery. American Bashkir Curly on google should do the job! Most curly owners*not all though* Will have only curly's so it works out. Some people are just allergic to the horses hair and not the rest of the barn enviroment so.....They have a really interesting way of becoming a breed though!
