Chath was in the park which wasn't unusual as he was taking a break from a long jog he and Keir had been doing together. The black dragon had taken flight a couple of times to work his wings and strengthen them but he tended to land fairly soon and would just run on foot slightly ahead of the newt.
It was..hard running in sandals, but he didn't like wearing running shoes so so sandals it was. It was getting warmer out, everyday as if inched closer to summer, he didn't mind the warmer weather though it did tend to make him over heat and dehydrate faster. So his water bottle was with him at all times the spritzer was a life saver on more than one occasion.
Sitting on the bench he was looking up into the sky watching Keir in mild fantasation as the black flew around in circles stretching his wings. He had flown only a couple of times on the black's back it was an unsettling feeling being air born.

It was one of those days where everything conspired against him and made the idea of being a single parent a very bad idea indeed. His girlfriend was at work and he wouldn't dream of dropping Miranda over at Other's work place and tell the poor girl to watch after his charge while he ran off and played businessman for his clients who insisted on a face-to-face consult. When the man said he'd be bringing his daughter they were less than thrilled and unless he could find a last second compromise the Clients would have to deal with it. His neighbors at the apartment had also been an option to watch his charge, but again none of them were available.
"Damn it," Valeri uttered softly as he limped along with his charge walking patiently at his side. She was wearing sunglasses and wide brimmed had and seemed content with the situation and uttered a small giggle at her Guardian's words.
"S'bad'th to s'thay that Papi," she chided the adult with a wrinkle of her nose.
The purple haired man sighed a bit, "Sorry girlie, but Papi is very frustrated and needs someone to look after you."
Miranda didn't see the point of it as she could watch after herself quite well and she also didn't see why she couldn't come along and so she pouted a bit and gazed around the park they found themselves and soon her eyes caught the tinted view of an odd looking boy on a bench. She pointed toward him, "Wha'th about him? He can watch me!" the rat-girl suggested happily.
Valeri gazed where she pointed and sighed. There was something vaguely familiar about the boy's appearance, but familiar as in the parts of him looked similar to something the man had seen before in the wild somewhere but he couldn't put his finger on it. None-the-less hopefully it wasn't a demon or something similar, he didn't really have the graces of time on his side to fight much longer on it and so, cane in one hand and daughter's hand in the other he limped over to the lad on the bench, "Excuse me, I was wondering if you could do me a favor," Valeri said in a harried tone, "I'll pay you."

Pulled out of his dragon watching Chath sat up suddenly as he was addressed; he wasn't wearing a shirt, and though he certainly looked old enough he gave the man a goofy smile as his strange eyes flickered to the small one beside him.
Cute kid, she had little ears and a long tail...though she was...a bit on the plump side she was still fairly adorable. Must be another D-corp child.
He waved to the stranger who had addressed him spreading his fingers in a little wave showing off his webbed hand.
"Hi." He replied to the man who then requested a favor of him. Tilting his head he looked to the man and the little mouse girl with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Uh...sure? What do you need?" he replied.

Valeri smiled as the lad seemed receptive now that the lines of communication were open between them. Now that he had the boy’s attention he could propose the favor, "I need someone to watch my daughter," he flicked his eyes down to the small rat-girl who was busily staring up at the newt-boy with quite a bit of curiosity and interest. "If you can keep her alive and unharmed for about an hour I'll pay you handsomely," he said at the end of his proposal but there was a faint bit of pleading to his tone that was hard to miss. Despite the promise of payment some might turn him down.
Miranda's shaded eyes looked from the stranger to her guardian and back again. This person did seem like fun! If it helped Papi to stay with this person she would do it, though she was not quite sure about the idea of being separated from her purple haired guardian for any length of time. "Pleeeaaa'th?" She added to her father's plea, her sunglass covered eyes staring at the lad before her intensely as if daring him to try and say no to the proposal.

Chath gave the man before him a rather gawking expression, some stranger wanted him to look after his kid? He...had no formal training as a baby sitter...this was more Geia's fortay. Yet when he was about to protest the little girl spoke.
He turned his gaze to look down at her, and felt his resolve melt.
"Ah...okay...uh..did you want me to just stay in the park?" He asked as suddenly he heard and felt a thud land behind them. The black dragon had his head reared up as he appraised the pair that was speaking to his boy.
Chath..suddenly wondered if this was such a good idea.
"Aha...ha...that's Keir." He stated as he stood up suddenly as if to announce to his dragon he was in control of the situation.

"Yeah, so that way I can find you again, and take her off your hands when I am done with this meeting, sorry it was kind of short notice for everyone involved," Valeri said apologetically, "My name is Valeri Stark, and my daughter is named Miranda," He introduced himself and his daughter in a rushed fashion but as he was about to say his good byes the dragon landed and the man's face faltered a bit. It was easy to see that Valeri was also wondering if this was a good idea.
"O...Oh my...Well...Pleased to meet Keir." Beggars can't be choosers. Please don't let this dragon-thing eat my daughter...
Miranda's eyes had gone wide at the sight of the dragon, a part of her felt slightly intimidated by the pure size of it but also strangely fascinated by it. She chewed at her bottom lip a bit and then looked at her father as if to see if he was really going to leave her with them, not that the newt-boy seemed unfriendly she wished she could say the same about the dragon who looked everything BUT friendly to her.
"I should really get going, as long as she is in one piece and not mentally scarred I'll be happy," Valeri said uneasily for a moment as he gently nudged his daughter over toward the blonde boy.
"Mmm," Miranda uttered softly, the sound came out with a tone of uncertainty from the back of her throat.

Keir rumbeled deep in his throat but Chath shot him a look, they glared at each other a long while before Chath finally moved to stand between Miranda and the black.
"I...will be pleased to look after her." He murmured finally as he turned and smiled at Mr. Stark. "I am sure..." Ah shoot what was the little girls name? "uh...we will have fun." He continued on smoothly.
Kneeling he offered the little girl his hand looking friendly and...sure of what he was doing.
Keir only snorted thinking this was a waste of time.

Valeri gave a short nod to the newt-boy's words, "Thanks so much," he murmured before he turned his face down toward his daughter, his hand reaching to tweak her nose, his torso leaning down a bit in order to reach it. "Miranda, you be good for the young man," he murmured softly before he turned away and hurried off with a hurried limping gait in his step. Again he couldn't help but hope that ... Keir wouldn't end up snacking on his daughter, he'd be more than a little miffed if that happened.
Miranda gave Chath a small uncertain smile. Though he blocked much of the dragon from her sunglass tinted view she still was very much aware that the dark creature was there and was uncertain what to make of it at all, especially at the snort. She looked up at her father said his goodbyes and giggled lightly and rubbed her nose, "Kay~," came her reply though she still would rather have come along with her Papi rather than stay here with the newt-boy and his scary looking dragon.
When her father left she turned her head toward Chath and stared for a long moment, "Can we play?" she asked dubiously as if certain that the older boy had long forgotten how to be 'little'.

Chath shot a glare to Keir as if warning him to behave, the black only rolled his eyes and looked away tossing his head as if unamused This was a waste of time playing babysitter to something that looked like a overweight snack.
Chath sighed as if he could read the dragons thoughts and then turned his attention to the little girl.
"Of course we can play." He replied with a smile and he squatted so he was more eye level to her. "what did you want to do?"

For the most part Miranda was all too happy to just ignore the dragon and look at Chath with shaded eyes. She stared at the boy through the tinted sunglasses thoughtfully for a long moment. The small rat-girl couldn't help but note that she didn't have any of her toys and games here and they were at a park. Her gaze broke away from Chath and looked at their surroundings until she caught sight of a playground nearby.
"I wann'th to play there," Miranda said with a hopeful tone to her voice. "We can clim'th on th' bar'th." More than likely it'd be her climbing and Chath making sure she didn't break her neck.
Pausepausepause, "Wha'th your name again'th?"

Chath chuckeled and nodded his head and went to stand, though he didn't offer the small girl his hand he seemed friendly enough. "It's Chath," He offered his name again to her as he pointed in the direction of the playground.
"ANd of course we can play there." He confirmed their location as he took a step towards it and then looked over his shoulder to see if she was following as well making sure Keir wasn't trying to pull any tricks with her.

"Chath," she repeated back at him as if to try out the name herself. She gave a small nod at Chath as he confirmed they could play at where she had decided they would play at and began to lead the way with a bit of a waddle to her step and a happy hum. She was all too happy to not look at the scary black thing that seemed to eye her in a way she had decided to be 'not nice at all' and also one of those things she decided she didn't want to think about anymore.
Once at the playground she wandered directly toward the jungle gym and stared up at it. It looked so much smaller in the distance, like she'd have no problem with it at all, small hands reached and took up her tail as she began to fidget with it a little, "Th'o tall," she said with a small squeak.

Chath was pretty tall considering his DNA was for a newt. A low tot he ground sort of creature though he didn't let that bother him as he went to help Miranda up onto the jungle gym by lifting her as bast as he could manage from her arm pits. She was heavier than he anticipated but hey that was why he worked out right?
"Grab ahold, I'll make sure you don't fall ok?" He instructed with a smile.
Keir stared as Chath played babysitter finding this all such a waste of time...that small one looked more like a snack than a child and he moved to lay at the edge of the sandbox designating it as his temporary lair as he stretched and sprawled out in the sun catching what warmth from the suns rays he could manage.

It was one of those things, while she was considering her options, she was suddenly lifted up which caused her to startle a bit and drop her tail - instead of thrashing about panicked, luckily for Chath. She stared at the bar quietly unaware of how her weight might affect the much older boy holding her for a long moment as she listened to his instructions; still she hesitated for a moment. Would it really be okay? No, of course she would, plus she wanted to show Chath that she was brave!
She reached out one tiny hand and then the other, thankfully the bars weren't super thick as she clutched onto the bars and eventually she wriggled from the grasp of the one holding onto her and just kind of hung there for a moment. Miranda stared at the bar ahead of her for a long moment. Could she reach it?
Miranda reached forward for it and found her arm length to be just too short; she uttered a soft frustrated grunt. Quietly she worked up the courage to swing a bit, finally it got to where she got within reach of the other bar and tried to grasp onto that along with her other hand. Her weight made this hard as her hands were quickly tiring from having to support her, still she was proud, "Look'th! I made it to th' other bar!" She looked over at Chath and grinned proudly.

Chath never let her go instead allowing his body to move with hers as she swung to the next bar. He was glad she didn't seem frightened about being up so high, but he had a good grip on her so everything would be okay right?
"Your doing a great job," He assured her even if she was heavy it didn't matter he would try holding her up as long as possible. "Try swinging to the next one." He encouraged as he readied himself to move if she decided to keep going.
