Sprout stormed away from his family's cave angrily. How dare that... Woman tell him what to do... Never mind that the woman in question was his mother... She still had no right to tell him to go 'wash up' in the river. After all, he was nearly an adult! Much too old to have to be forced to go take a bath... Even if - it was true - he really did need one...
He and Odelle had recently gotten into a sibling-to-sibling squabble in the midst of a mud puddle formed after last night's rain, and the wet earth had since dried into Sprout's fur, causing unsightly clumps among his brown, soil-colored fur.
Of course, that woman - his mother. Bleh. - had totally overreacted when she found out that Sprout and his sister had been fighting again, and had demanded to know what they were fighting about - it had really been nothing. Sprout couldn't even remember what had started the spat. Jacoliia, Sprout's mother, had also made them apologize to each other...
And then she'd forced Sprout off to the river to bathe. Bleh.
Sprout hated being told what to do by... That woman.

Talina was at the river, unsure weather or not to get in or not. It's been a while sence she had been swimming. She poked her head in compleatly and held it there as long as she could. She loved water. And she loved to swim.

Sprout stomped angrily down to the riverbank. He continued stomping as he walked into the water, causing large 'Kersplunk' noises and sending droplets of water flying every which way.
He didn't even notice the female dragon with her head submerged nearby.

She fealt all of the water droplets land on her, getting her partially wet. She jerked her head out to see what had caused the water splash.
"Oh hello, little one. I'm Talina, and you?"

"Oh hello, little one. I'm Talina, and you?"
Sprout whirled around, shocked that he wasn't alone. He cursed himself mentally for that stupid display of immaturity; the needless splashing. Wasn't he trying to prove that he wasn't a child? And yet already this unfamiliar dragon thought of him as a 'little one'.
"Sprout," he answered her with a scowl, "and I'm not a little one!" He glared, looking the female up and down... How dare she patronize him only moments after meeting him!
Huh. She was... Kind of pretty.
Sprout pushed the thought out of his head the moment it emerged. She wasn't pretty. She was old. Nearly his mother's age, he was willing to bet! She was nothing but an old lady. A dinosaur. Sprout would have to be an idiot to actually be attracted to the old lady...
"What are you doing here?" he demanded angrily, "this is my family's territory!"
Technically, it wasn't. Jacoliia and Adair, Sprout's parents, had never staked off any piece of land to claim as their own, and therefore didn't care what wandering dragons passed through... But Sprout was still sore at being inturrupted during his childish tantrum, and so he felt the need to run her out of his part of the forest as soon as possible...

Talina looked at him for a second and tilted her head.
"Oh, i'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you, Sprout. Could you foregive me?" She asked sweetly.
Talina jumped as he shouted. "Oh. Yet again, i'm sorry. I didn't know. Would you be willing to forgive me on both accounts?" She asked sweetly once again, putting one paw up to her chest in sympathy.
She really didn't know this land belonged to someone else... Or else she wouldn't have came.
"And as for what i'm doing, i was about to take a swim. Would you like to join? Or would you rather me leave?"

Sprout squirmed. It seemed... Really bratty to continue to scowl and rant at the female when she was smiling at him so sweetly, so innocently...
"Sure. Sure, I forgive you," Sprout told her grudgingly, though the scowl didn't waver from his face.
"No, I don't want to join you," Sprout snapped... but he didn't want her to leave, either... "You go on that side of the river," Sprout gestured with his tail across the moving water to the opposite riverbank, "and don't bother me." He turned his back on the female, not watching to see if she followed his orders or not.
Because... Honestly... Sprout wouldn't really mind all that much if she stayed on his side of the river.
Sprout's scowl grew. She even talks like my mom, he thought to himself resentfully, so 'polite'... Old lady. Bah.

"Well, if it will make you feel better." Talina backed up far enough to get a good run. After that, she got a running start and jumped all the way to the other side of the river, making sure she landed in the water. A big 'splash' noise arose as she hit the water.
"Okay, i'm off of your side!" She shouted tward him.

Sprout felt several droplets of water shower his back as the adult dragon plunged into the water.
Impressive jump, Sprout thought in admiration before he could help himself. But... doesn't seem like something an old lady would do... maybe she's not so... No. Of course she's an old lady. She's just the worst kind of old lady. The kind who thinks she's young.
"Well, good!" he shouted back grouchily, refusing to turn back in her direction. He frowned and dived beneath the water, submerging himself fully for the first time. He surfaced again a few moments later and - making faces of repulsion all the time - began to scrub at the patches of mud in his fur.

She was told by him to leave him alone, so she did.
As she swam, she began to hum which soon became singing. She back stroked in the water as she sang.
Staring up into the sky, she wondered to herself.
'What could have made him mad? If he was. He certainly seemed it.' She wanted to ask, but kept quiet like he had said to.

Sprout glared at nothing in particular as he tried to scrub a particularly difficult mud patch out of his fur. He barely registered that the old lady had begun to sing.
I should tell her to knock it off, Sprout thought to himself. But he didn't. After a little while, he almost... Enjoyed it.
He continued to scrub away the dried mud, uncovering more and more of his dark brown fur... A short period of time passed, and Sprout began twisting and turning in the water, trying to reach a mudpatch on his back that he couldn't reach, no matter what he tried.

Talina heard the splashing noises from him trying to reach the mud patch on his fur. She paused her singing and looked over.
"I'm sorry to bother you but, do you need help?" She offered kindly with a smile.

"No." Sprout snapped angrily, twisting around to glare at the female. She was old. He didn't want an old lady touching him, working out the clumps in his fur... It'd be weird. No. Sprout definitely didn't want her help...
He twisted around for several more seconds before finally slumping in defeat.
"Maybe..." Sprout began, heat flooding to his face in embarressment, "Maybe... I do need your help after all."

She shrugged and went on her own way with swimming. She would ocassionally look at Sprout to see if he was doning any better.
It shocked her when he said he may need her help. "You sure?" She asked, unsure.
