" Yare, yare. So it's finally begun, huh?" Tenkai stood outside of the entrance to his designated ring, dressed in his monk's robes and shade hat with shakujo in hand. He had stopped for a moment, pondering as he stood before the large, imposing wall surrounding the arena. The GTB administrators must have been taking every precaution to make sure nothing the combatants threw eachother would get into the stands and hurt any spectators. Being the Buddhist he was, Tenkai would take extra care to make sure of that. Besides, who knew if he'd have to throw anything at all? He was about to pass the threshold when his memory gave him pause. "Ah, how foolish of me!" he said, "I can't bring my robes and shakujo with me. They aren't registered fighting equipment. Guess I'll have to leave them out here." He promptly thrust his shakujo staff into the ground, making sure it was firmly in place. With his gauntlet-clad right hand, he disconnected one of the links in his rosary necklace and grabbed his robes, pulling them off in one motion as if they were tailored to tear away like that. The leather strap underneath pulled his shoulder armor and swords into place as his rosary beads re-connected across his chest like a bandolier, all in the time it took for the shroud of his robes to pass his body. And with that, he was ready. He slung the robes and shade hat over the head of his shakujo, using it almost like a coat rack. Once that was out of the way, he stepped forward into the flat, sandy-grounded arena, his geta making unique tracks in the ground. "I don't know anything about the person I'm about to fight," thought he, "So I guess I'll have to decide how to play this out once I see him." Regardless of circumstance, the monk hoped both he and his opponent would enjoy themselves.

Joey walked into the ring. His attire was generic; a pair of black and white Muay thai sports with his name embroidered along the elasticized waist band. A pair of off white combat wraps were wound tightly around his thick ankles and the soles of his bare feet. On his torso was a tight fitting white vest with a small black tick logo on the left breast, Over that was a green camo-print hoody, about a size too large for the man, easily noticeable as the baggy hood that hung drearily over his head seemed big enough to envelop it entirely.
A strange oval-ish shape protruded from beneath the sleeves of the hoody, a smooth futuristic shape that ran for what looked to be the length of the mans forearms. His hands, though mostly obscured, were obviously covered in some kind of metal which, when in motion, often caught a ray of sun light and reflected it across the sandy grounds.
crunch, crunch, crunch
Joey stopped walking at the center of what he would of described as an arena. Not unlike those of Roman times, where gladiators would battle against one another to please their rich rulers, and of course, to line their own pockets. A smirk crept across Joeys thin lips as he thought about the glorious connotations that were attached to such fighters, and how much press the martial art tournaments still attracted to this day. People never changed.
Indeed this is what true men sought, worthy opponents and stupendous pay outs.
Snapping out of his deep self-satisfying thoughts, his attention turned to man standing a few metres away - his opponent. He seemed oriental in attire, but then it wasn't uncommon even among westerners to imitate the original masters of the arts. In dress and in fighting.

After a while, Tenkai's opponent had shown up in attire much more normal looking than the monk's. He hoped he had not been too elaborate in simply wearing the same outfit he usually wore. Then again, everyone had their tastes. Tenkai was most definately a westerner by note of his facial features, but he seemed to wear Japanese clothing as a matter of taste rather than imitating old masters.
"Ah...you must be my opponent," said Tenkai with a calm, welcoming smile.
Tenkai took a moment to look his opponent over. He seemed to have the usual Muay Thai motiffs, so it wouldn't be too far off to assume his opponent was a practitioner of the art. At first Tenkai felt it'd be best to simply use his fists, but there was something odd about his opponent. That glint of metal coming from his oddly-shaped sleeves meant that his opponent was obviously concealing something. Though Tenkai didn't draw either of his swords, he wouldn't remove them from his body yet.
With his opponent now a few meters away from him, the monk took a step back with his left foot into a comfortable stance, his right hand held forward with the arm bent at an angle while his left hand staying at his side towards the center. He wasn't about to start clenching his fists just yet. Hands empty and open, the monk kept his eyes on his opponent.
"Tanoshimashite kure yo!" (Let's have some fun!)

Joey smirked back at the man before dropping into a loosely held but perfectly formed Muay thai stance. He lightly bounced up and down on his toes, breathing rhythmically,in perfect time with the bounces. Quote: "Tanoshimashite kure yo!" He hadn't the slightest clue what this meant, but from the tone of the guy's voice it seemed somewhat pleasant. He began to inch forward, his left leading leg moving first followed by the quick glide of the back leg. He always maintained great balance and posture even whilst moving. As the distance between the two combatants began to shrink, a whirring noise, like a small cog mechanism firing up, began to emanate from Joey's being. It wasn't a very loud noise and was pretty hard to notice over the crowds jeering and general a** hattery, but perhaps one with acute hearing would pick up on the subtle sounds.

Tenkai kept his eyes on his opponent as he bounced towards him, assuming a stance Tenkai immediately recognized as Muay Thai. That was one thing confirmed from his analysis. But those arms...
Tenkai wasn't so much trying to listen for things as he was simply trying to make note of what his opponent could be planning. Technology was somewhat difficult to deal with since it wasn't as easy to sense. But he couldn't let that hinder him so much.
Normally, a fighter would respond to the distance closing by shuffling forward themselves. But Tenkai wasn't very much of a shuffle-step type fighter, and staying in the line of attack didn't work for him. So as Joey bounced forward, Tenkai carefully began to step to his left in a sidestep motion, circling the fighter clockwise (from Joey's viewpoint) as he came closer.
Though, the closer Joey came, the louder the whirring noise was. The crowds were loud, but Tenkai's focus enabled him to catch a slight amount of the noise. It didn't change his mind much as he had figured his opponent was using some sort of technology just by its appearance.

Joey mimicked his opponent, circling round him in counter clockwise fashion, keeping about a meter between them but staying focused and in orthodox stance. Tenkai, at this range, could probably see the metal covered digits that you could just about make out under the oversized sleeves of Joey's hoody.
Suddenly, without warning, Joey lunged forward. His feet moved blindingly fast, bending at the toe and pushing his body forwards with great force. With a slight bend at the hip, Joey shot out his left hand in a quick jab to Tenkai's face. As he punched, his back heel swiveled and his leading shoulder jolted forwards, creating the perfect punch and maximizing damage.
As his arm shot forward the hoody pulled back from his fist. Underneath was a strange contraption. A gauntlet of sorts that fully enveloped the fighters forearm and hand. Along this were several odd contraptions and of course several spiky bits. To be more exact there were three stubby razor-like spikes sitting in each of the beds between his knuckles. These were about 2 inches long. A little further up was a piece of elevated metal with three more spikes poking out. These ones however, were about 12 cm long and seemed to have narrower shafts, but wider heads.
All the while Joey's right hand was held just infront of his chin providing ample protection from a counter punch to the face. It wasn't that he was expecting a counter punch, but rather that this kind of guard was common among many martial artists, and arguably the best guard you can do when risking the first attack.

!
Such speed!
Just as Tenkai would expect from Muay Thai. Jabs were usually difficult to deal with when someone was that fast. But this jab came with a powerful lunge, and with that the turn of the shoulder.
Tenkai was moving left, so normally it'd be plausible to keep going so that one could quickly sidestep the incoming punch. But what good would that do? The other hand was guarding the chin, and could easily come in with a right if Tenkai moved into it.
But Tenkai knew better than to move inside the line of attack.
As Joey lunged in, Tenkai's left hand moved in behind his right forearm and upward in a counter-clockwise motion while his right arm dropped downward in the other direction towards Tenkai's midsection. As he did this, he turned his hips counter-clockwise, his body angling slightly out of the way.
It was a simple, quick movement, but definately not weak. The left arm came up from the outside of Joey's arm at an angle, diverting the angle of the punch just enough so that the fist wouldnt be directly on course. With Tenkai's body angled as it was from the turn, he would escape the brunt of the attack.
Well, not without a close call, of course. It was a fast jab, and the sheer speed in addition to those knuckle spikes left a grazing cut on his left cheek. Luckily, parrying the way he did would have him avoiding the spikes on the elevated piece of metal, which would be turned upward thanks to the misdirecting block. Tenkai noticed those spikes in the split second that went by, and simply thought "I sure hope those things don't shoot out or something."
Luckily, with the way that he blocked, the spikes would be aimed away from his body, so a trick like that wouldn't work. With his hand now adhering to the side of Joey's arm where he blocked, Tenkai's follow-up came in almost instantly after.
The right arm he had lowered wasn't simply to complete the circular movement of his arms. He was setting up for a backhand strike towards what would be Joey's now exposed left side of his ribcage thanks to how he jolted his shoulder forwards. His chin may have been protected, but now had to worry about the metal guard-covered back of Tenkai's hand and knuckles driving into his rib cage, no doubt aiming to break a few.
((To note, I'm going with the assumption that the part where you said " A little further up was a piece of elevated metal with three more spikes poking out" means a little further up the forearm. However, if you meant further up the hand, like on the back of the hand, then my attack still stands, albeit without the whole comment on the side of the forearm.
I'm also assuming that by being "exact" about the spiky bits, that you only had those 6 razor spikes on the described spots. If there are others, just note that Tenkai's parrying from the underside of the arm's outside, where I assume its...well...blunt. ._.
Actually, if you could provide a picture of the gauntlet now that you've unveiled it, that'd be awesome. :3))
