[I'm assuming we can post?]

A man ventured into the arena. Silky locks of hair cascaded down his back like a raging waterfall, having no sense of direction as it simply flowed.

A pair of mystic black hues glared into the open domain where fighters gathered as the man approached. Two immense pearl white fangs peered into view from the sides of his aperture while he licked them rather vulgarly. Murky shadows crawled from beneath his feet and unto his back, binding together whilst pouring into the thick, humid air.

What little seepage was left, it too, permeated into a smog that hung above the ground like a curtain of darkness; everlasting as it moved to and fro amid it's concentrated area. The shadows were like a mist, cleansing the atmosphere of it's divinity and once sweet-smelling air as it was depraved with maledict and melancholic presence.

The area encompass was filled with utter cries as the hopeless souls that fell to a constraint by this man had only suffered them more; their desire to be free of hindrance was what kept them by his side. Imploring for their forgiveness condemned them to be silenced forever, serving him loyally now as restless slaves.

Cracking his neck, once, to the right, then again, to his left, the man prepared himself for his first match up. Hopefully, this man he was facing wasn't too hard of a task for him to overcome.

The crowd roared in anticipation.

A Legend Approaches...

Unsheathing the Master Sword from it's womb and adjusting his shield so that it slipped from it's clinch, The Hero of Time armed himself for battle as he made his way into the sand arena. Behind him at the ring side remained his companion, Navi, who left the Kokiri born to fight alone.

Giving his silky-haired opponent a terse nod, Link would raise his shield in sword in preparation for the battle to come.

At the sight of his opponent, Leinhart would half-smile. Alas', his alternate foe had arrived; sword in hand. Taking a few steps back, he distanced himself between his Elven challenge, beginning with the formalities of battle as he would bow his head before the match had begun.

"I bid you luck."

From within his slender sleeve, he produced a kunai in his right, looping it through the ring hole with his pointer while he wrapped his index around the pommel; keeping it heavily concealed.

The ageless Vampire took off bolting towards the man with determined eyes ready to get this one over with. Quickly.

A Battle Commences..

"Hai!" Righting his shield and taking a step back, Link began to back peddle away from Leinhart with quick and deft motions while keeping the Hyrulian Shield between he and the Vampire.

As he back peddled, Link flourished the Blade of Evil's Bane along his left flank with his left hand.

PostPosted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 7:51 pm

Why was he all ready retreating? The battle had nearly commenced.

Hmn, this must of been one of his stratagems. Leinhart was prepared, however, dashing for the man in a zig-zag motion. This way, there was no telling where he was moving next.

There was, no way Leinhart could penetrate through the elf's defense less' he removed that shield from his guard. Launching the projectile from below the shield while still gaining in distance for his foe, Leinhart aimed the kunai for the kid's lower right thigh. Immaculately.

Hoping this went according and slowed his young opponent down, Leinhart barreled in much quicker for the boy, revealing two immense Kama he pulled from his weapons belt, each holstered at one hip. Clenching the rubber gripping of both elongate sickles, he held them firmly upright; one raised higher than the other.

When he reached Link, he swung the Kama he held in his left in an arch, from his own left, then to his right, slashing across the mid-section of his foe if he hadn't manage to evade the blow. But first, when he came within close-quarters of the man, he kicked up some sand towards his face; a decoy. Maybe it'd catch him in the midst of all the confusion and enter his eyes, temporarily blurring his vision.

Synonymously, after the first strike moved in, whether it was a success or failure, Leinhart's second Kama moved in for a swift strike, in the same hand, swinging towards his opponent in another swift, violent motion aiming for his left side (Leinhart's right) moreso his ribcage.

Leinhart wanted to get this match over with quickly.

There might have been a blind spot in Link's defenses if the Hyrulian Knight hadn't back-peddled. As it was, he was keeping the distance between his opponent, and therefore had the privilege and tact to watch Leinhart in entirety. Especially with the vampire slowing himself down with his zig-zag motions. Afterall, was it not a straight line that was quickest to a point? In anycase, it was in this studious gaze that Link caught the Vampire's ranged-attack with his cerulean optics, muscle-memory taking over long before a prerequisite thought. Planting his right foot behind him and throwing his body weight to the left after pushing against said right foot, Link propelled himself to the side and avoided conflict with the Kunai altogether as it darted past his leg.

It was then, when Link landed, that Leinhart was already upon him and kicking sand in the Knight's face. Lifting his right arm on instinct, Link took the brunt of the sand kicked his way on the metal surface of his shield to protect his eyes and thus preserve his vision. When he lowered it once more once finished, it was already too late for a counter-attack. Leinhart's arm was already moving in with his kama, and it was only by luck alone that Link's shield was already in the weapon's path. With a thunk and screeching rap, the fine edge of the kama scrapped against the metal of a Hyrulian Shield, denting the metal and scraping the paint as it went past - leaving Link unharmed but mildly shaken by the close call, he pushing against his forward right foot to jump back and back-peddle away from Leinhart once again on defensive instinct.

Link wasn't about to stand toe-to-toe with Leinhart and his farm-tools designed for excruciatingly close-quarters-combat though. No, Link would use the natural reach and advantage the Master Sword gave him and fight at a distance with the dangerously offensive Vampire before him. In the act of jumping back and back peddling, Link had taken himself out of Leinhart's range, but that in no way meant Leinhart was out of Link's. Swinging his sword from behind him, over his head, and down as he went backwards, Link slashed at the junction between Leinhart's right shoulder and neck with the last few inches of the Master Sword as Leinhart molested nothing but air with his second kama attack, attempting to rent the vampire open from shoulder to hip.

((Action Edit. Accidentally deleted the sand deflection during writing.))

And so both the attacks had missed. But Leinhart would not falter now, no, he was still on his feet, still tracking Link and his movements with those keen Obsidian of his. The first Kama would have crashed into the Shield, damaging it while the other, was thrown off by a long-shot. But nothing would have stopped Leinhart's determination. He was like the Energizer Rabbit, and kept going seemingly never appearing to be tired.

But he wouldn't stop there. No. He would pursue his opponent until he strike him, least' one good time. His perception and heightened vision would capture Link in the act of heaving his Master Blade over his head to obviously, deliver a blow somewhere above his lower body, leaving only his shoulders, head, and neck as options. How was Leinhart aware of this? Easy. It was the manner his opponent brought the weapon in. Overhead.

But the end wasn't here. Not yet. Leinhart would not allow it.

Using the great momentum of his side-slash (the second one) to his advantage, Leinhart would complete a 360° spin with the Kama still in hand, over to his left as the elongate weapon cleaved through the air, slicing at nothing. Instinctively, both feet would plant themselves into the sand as he spun, cognizant of the massive sword his opponent pulled over his head and swung down, devastatingly. Luckily for Leinhart, the spin maneuver he had execute would have tossed him aside and away from the potential danger, leaving the only place for the Master Sword to lodge itself into; the sand. And from such a high measure of kinetic energy, it was beyond doubt that the sword would have now embedded itself deep into the sandy terrain.

Good. Now he only possessed the damaged shield, for now. Halting in his tracks for good, considering even after his spin there would of been some slight unbalance in his step, Leinhart projected the Kama he held in his left hand towards Link as if it were a boomerang, launching it at high-speed at his nearly defenseless body. He didn't care where it struck him from below, whether it was a leg, two, or one of his thighs. Just as long as he either lept into the air, defending himself with the shield, or did nothing, then Leinhart would be satisfied, moving in for his next all ready planned attack.

Only one thing was definite; Leinhart wasn't going to let him retrieve his weapon from the ground, nor even give him ample time to try and even sweep it up. He kept pursuing his opponent, pushing forth, charging, now with only a single Kama left.

Massive? The Master Sword was a traditional one-handed blade, with enough room on the hilt to fit at most only two or three more fingers, which made it a hand-and-a-half sword; and as was common for most hand-and-a-half swords, or b*****d Swords, most had the blade length of a single-handed-blade. The Master Sword was no exception.

As far as kinetics went, Link was back peddling; there could be no weight thrown into a slash save for the weight of the sword. The reason Link chose to do an overhead slash was simply because gravity would make his sword fall swifter.

Gravity and the weight of the Master Sword were nothing compared to the strength of his sword arm, his proficiency with the Master Sword, and the Triforce of Courage which influenced both beyond normal human capacity. As Link saw his slash become a fool's errand, the Hero of Time would twist his wrist mid-slash, bring his hand down, and flick both hand in wrist in suite before pulling his arm back so that he might flourish his weapon and bring it to his side once again.

There was no more need to back peddle, so Link stopped and went on guard as he watched Leinhart toss himself to the side and away. This meant bringing his shield up, cocking his sword arm back, and bending his knees as prerequisites for any quick motions. Then came Leinhart's decision to throw his kama at Link. Dropping his shield arm down, Link would deftly catch the sickle on the metal plate of his defense. Considering the chances of the sickle striking edge or point first, it was highly unlikely that it would impale the shield, but it did so anyway - it now buried deep in the steel and wood and producing a loud thunk.

The Hero of Time shifted, but otherwise displayed no sense of alarm. He instead concentrated while lifting his shield back up in defense, chest rising and falling with the dramatic motions of one who drew in deep and measured breaths before releasing. Leinhart might have been a vampire, but Link was human, and there was a reason he wasn't focusing as much on offense as he was on defense. He was conserving his energy until the opportune moment to take advantage of whatever opening Leinhart might give him, all the while observing the vampire with all the tenacity of a warrior.

He'd wait until Leinhart attacked before making any motions...

The Hero of Time was no slouch. Shifting his stance and crouching lower to the ground, Link watched with sudden anxiety as he saw Leinhart put his remaining kama away and shut his eyes. The Vampire was preparing for something, but Link didn't have any clue as to what. But what Leinhart continuously ignored was the shield that was put in between he and Link. That alone changed the dynamics of everything, but no one could appropriately say if it was for good or ill. With the power of a sledge hammer going fifteen miles an hour, Leinhart's epic force push would slam without resistance into the Heroic Knight's shield, effectively throwing him into a futile back peddle to maintain balance before he fell on his rear in a crash of sand.

By the shield being so viciously pushed inward into his chest so suddenly and at a mildly awkward angle, both the joints of his right wrist and right elbow would bruise painfully and thus weaken his shield arm. Link was lucky that Leinhart decided to not aim his force push lower, saving Link from impalement by the sickle. If the invisible push had driven the kama all the way through, Link would have been stabbed in the abdomen by the blade, and that could have been the end of the fight then and there.

As it was however, the shield on his arm was severely damaged, and both wood and overlaying steel were pushing uncomfortably into Link's right arm. He would have liked to remove the shield right then and there, but he would have had to undo the strap around his forarm and go through great effort to pull the shield was. Begrudgingly, he chose to ignore the discomfort and carry on. Grimacing, but otherwise well enough to do so, Link delved into his pool of mana and proceeded to cast a Reflect Spell. He didn't want another one of whatever it was that struck him hitting him again, so it was only logical that he would go to lengths to protect himself from what he could not see.

Sitting up and dragging his feet beneath him, Link would be quick about the task of rising up. It was then that he would catch sight of the purple orb coming his way, too late to do much of anything save watching the projectile bounce of his ward and head straight back to its proprietor. It was then that Link changed his own tactics. Leinhart was unarmed, staring at Link, and was that blood? With his attack thwarted and bounced back, this was the opportune moment to strike! It was now or never! Cutting loose a battle cry, Link charged Leinhart in a headlong sprint. Whatever happened next, for Link knew little of the properties of the attack he reflected, would be decided once The Hero came within range.

Starting Mana Pool: 12 Points.
Reflect Spell: -5 Points.
Current Mana Pool: 7 Points.

So it was a success! Too bad it didn't finish him completely.

Instead, Link managed to counter the attack, warding it from his vicinity as it somehow reflected back in its creator's direction. Leinhart would have no clue on how the boy could have done such, but had an idea; a spell was his only solution. Now, the only issue the Vampire faced was his own manifestation, the surging energy that courser over to him at an increasingly high-speed.

But wait, there was another problem at hand. Link was now charging recklessly for Leinhart, running at the rear of the concussive orb (I believe he's running from behind the spheroid, right?). So there would now be two tasks he must overcome if he wish to make it to the next round.

Leinhart grounded his front foot, staring intently into the orb, focusing, gathering enough Mind energy for his all ready devised plan. The man was an excellent tactician and strategist when it came to combat, he often perceived fighting as a game of Chess; finding his opponents weak points and using it against them. That's what he was best at doing, but so far, he could not decipher this foe's weakness. He'd discover it sooner than later; that, he made a promise to himself.

Upon microscopic inspection, considering this was the only way people could visualize what was occuring, one would notice the atomic structure of the small, concentrated spheroid splitting itself telekinetically, through the use of Leinhart's mind, causing a disruption or imbalance that would agitate it's natural flow of the particles, igniting the raw energy into a massive display of scorching flames and concussive force. And the worse part; it would detonate in front of Link, while he was dashing forth at Leinhart. The orb would explode with the equivalence of a small atomic bomb, not enough to disintegrate the man into smithereens, but just enough to have him burned, perhaps 3rd degree burns. Not to mention, the concussive force of the explosion may shatter a bone or two at most, the minimal damage maybe temporary deafness.

Being sent flying backwards by massive gusts of wind and a portion of the concussive force, Leinhart was blown away from Link and the explosion, crashing onto his back while he halted into a skid. He suffered minor damages, a half sizzled face and a dislocated arm he'd pop back into place once he stood upright, staggering to a weak, in pain, stance. Blood began rolling from his mouth, and more from his nostrils like before. But he left it there to stain, taking deep, exhausted breathes.

KA-BLOOOM!!!

The Demise of a Hero(?)...

Amidst the raging inferno of flames and the sand which blew every which way to obscure the carnage (perhaps for the best), Link's high-pitched scream could be heard throughout the arena gone silent. Well, as silent as an arena filled with thousands of people could get. There were murmurs of the death's of both Leinhart and Link, until the sand began to settle and thus reveal the standing Vampire in all of his glory. Bursting into a roar of cheers and praise, the crowd would begin to congratulate Leinhart on his victory for the Hero of Time was no where to be seen.

The flames of fire were gone, the sand was falling much slower..but what was this? A green cap? It was burnt considerably, but everyone in the crowd knew who it belonged to - Link! It fell into the sand with a lackluster plop right next to..The Master Sword. It was stabbed into the ground with no owner to it. This elicit more thunderous applause from the crowd, though only one remained silent. Only Navi, who had stayed ringside during the battle. Her altitude lowered in grief, for her companion was assuredly gone.

But..

A Hero Survives!!

"Look there!" Someone in the audience had an eye for detail! He, for it was a burly man, rose up from his seat and pointed at a shifting mound of sand. Though it took a few moments for others to pay mind, soon the crowd would go once again into a deafening drawl of murmurings and gasps. Then, in one fluid gesture, a head of blond hair burst forth followed suite by cerulean eyes, pointed ears, and a severely smudged and reddened face. Link was alive! Buried, but alive! The thunderous applause Leinhart had previously received doubled at the sign of the battle continuing.

Raising his left hand out of the sand and pushing down, Link hefted himself up and out of the ground to slowly rise up and onto his feet. He was..unharmed? No, not unharmed. His clothes were disheveled and smoking, tips of his hair were blackened, and his right arm hung loosely at his side. Whatever had happened during the explosion, it certainly left Link worse for wear. So while Link began undoing the straps of his shield from his limp right arm, audiences turned towards the replay screen.

Flashback:

The Hero of Time was charging headlong into Leinhart after the deflection of the vampires attack. To his credit, the Hero of Time was swift. With his armor and sword coupled with the drag of the sand beneath, he was gaining right behind the purple orb, until he caught sight of his target in concentration. If Leinhart saw his attack fail, knew Link was on his way to get him, but did nothing but stare intently at the orb before Link..well, Link could only feel a cold dread gripping his stomach. Courage was not the absence of fear, but rather the mastery of it; and in that mastery, The Hero knew a steadfast mind and resolve. He delved into his fey magic and cast Nayru's Love. In a glimmer of blue, the shield stayed with Link on his path to battle until..

KA-BLOOM! He was knocked back by the sudden explosion, the flames raging against the shield, until it finally shattered under the stress as Link flew into the ground and beneath a layer of sand. Caught in complete surprise by the shock value of the explosion, The Hero of Time hadn't blacked out, but rather was unable to move for a few moments until the dust settled and his senses came back.

End Flashback.

Thud. The Hylian Shield previously strapped to his arm hit the ground before the Hero flexed his right arm and curled it over his abdomen. Was it broken? No; it was bruised badly. The joint in his elbow was the worst of the injuries he sustained during the explosion, landing all too wrong on his arm after his shield exploded. His entire body ached from all the concussive force, and his hearing was also impaired. His magical shield might have saved him from possible death, but it wasn't perfect. Grimmacing and shutting his right eye, Link stepped forth and grabbed the wire-wrapped hilt of the Master Sword, plucking it out of the ground before advancing upon Leinhart. The Battle wasn't over.

Not Yet.

Final Countdown...

Previous Mana Points: 7 Points
Mana Resurrection: +1 Point
Nayru's Love: -7 Points
Current Mana Points: 1 Point
