The arena for this match is a large American city.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:23 pm

City dwellers continued with their lives, working as hard as they can to get by. Such is the life of these Americans, Tao though to himself, pearing down from the top of a sky scraper. A tournament is being held by the 13 court guard squads, issued by the Head Captain herself. Being one of the Court Guard captains, Tao had little reason to decline.

So, he accepted it, if a little begrudgingly. This bout will at least let him stretch his muscles. And, to be honest, he kind of like America. It's a much bigger city than the ones back in Japan. He sat down, his leg handing from the ledge, as he waits for his opponent to arrive.

They could have chosen a better arena.
Haine slowly stepped out into the open area, taking in a breath of air. The stench was sickening. Gazing upward, she tilted her head slowly as she spotted her opponent.
"A-Ashiku-Taichou?"
Just her luck. To fight a Captain.
She wasn't sure of the outcome, but she was almost positive that it wouldn't end well.
Regaining her composture, the lieutenant gave a sigh.
"I presume you're the opponent, Ashiku-Taichou?" She gazed upwards at the man, studying his face. She couldn't tell what he was thinking, and she soon gave up.

Tao glanced down from his perch to find the lieutenant of squad 5 staring up at him. He smiled. "Heh, my good luck. My first opponent is one of the cuties," he thought, before leaping down from the building onto the sidewalk where Haine stood.

"You presume right," he stated, smiling. "And please, you don't have to be formal with me. Call me Tao." He wanted her to be relaxed, at least. She did get stuck with a Captain as her first opponent. "If you'd like, we could talk a bit before we begin."

She looked at him, slightly relaxing at his kind words.
"I'm sorry, but I'd feel disrepectful if I were to call you such things. Please, let me continue with the formalities."
She said, tilting her head slightly to the side as she did so. She wasn't in any rush to fight, of course, but she couldn't help feeling an bit of excitement. She brushed a strand of hair from her face, giving a small smile.
"Talk about what, exactly?

"Well, for starters, what do you think the prize will be for the winner? A trip to the hot springs for the winner's squad...perhaps a weeks funds. Or maybe even a date with someone of our choosing." The last bit was some what of a hope for him. Then again, he always thinks that way. "Doesn't really matter anyway."

He glanced off into the streets, studying the people around him. "Well, if we plan on fighting, we better get to a place less populated, less we spook the locals."

She coudn't help smiling a bit as he listed off what the winner might recieve. She was certain that he was trying to lighten the mood, even if it was a failed attempt.
"I suppose we should. Lead the way, Ashiku-Taichou." She said. gesturing for him to find a place. She didn't want to be here any longer than she had to be. This city was simply too..cluttered. Not to mention smelly.

"Okay, but realize, this city is the designated battle ground," he stated. "The Head Captain indicated that our battles in the real world will mostly be in populated areas like this one, which is why she picked this city most likely." He turned, and lepted upon a perch from the nearby building. "I've surveyed the area, and spotted an abandoned construction sight not too far from here. It's shut down, so no one will be there. We'll have a nice quiet place for our battle." He continued onward, using the rooftops to make for the construction sight.

"Very well." Haine said, following him along the rooftops.
She was still rather reluctant to fight the Captain, seeing as she was but a mere lieutenant. Of course, this didn't mean that she doubted her abilities.
It was just that she hadn't mastered bankai, and she thought that she might need it.
"Are there going to be restraints on our fight, Ashiku-Taichou?" She asked suddenly, catching up to him. she was soon running side-by-side with the Captain, her gaze turned towards him.

"There will be some, but mostly on me," he stated, looking at her. "I won't use bankai since this is a friendly bout." Also, he considered, it would be dangerous for his bankai to be released on an ally. "We'll stick to Zanjitzu and Hakudo for this fight. Any Kido spells might draw unwanted attention."

He smiled. "But don't hold anything back on me with what you've got. I'd like to see how much you've improved since the last I saw you." He lept into the old constructionsight, filled with have worked beams and poles. "They've long since haulted their work on this area, so we should have no problems. However," he chanted a shrouding kido spell to mask their spirit pressure. "Just in case someone get's curious." He turned to face Haine, removing his white robes. "Now then..." He unsheathed one of his Zanpakutos, Meibatzu, holding it casually in his right hand. "Shall we get started?"

"Of course." She answered, stopping as well. She carefully unsheathed her blade, placing bother her hands on the hilt. Though she had excelled in swordsmanship and combat skills, she still wasn't sure about how well he could fight.
Of course, a man of Captain level could easily overwhelm and defeat her, but she wasn't about to give up.
Bakudou wasn't a skill she was good at, but she supposed that it might as well be her only shot at winning.
"I'll try to give you a good fight, Ashiku-Taichou."
She wasn't sure on whether or not she was supposed to move first, but she did anyways. Quickly stepping to the side, she ran forward, aiming an experimental slash at his front.

Tao responded quickly by twisting his wrist to bring his down in a twist to repel her blade away from him. His style was unlike the kendo techniques learn back in the academy. Tao developed his swordsmanship ability from Wu Shu, the chinese form of swordsmanship. It was more flamboyant and not as straight forward as kendo, but it was his preferred style considering his heritage.

Repelling the blade, he stepped forward toward Haine, twisting the blade forward to strike at her with a stab.

Haine quickly stepped back, the attack only missing by an inch. She knew now that she'd have to be quick, and alert, if she wanted any chance at beating him.
She vanished, using shunpo to quickly move behind him, before making a quick slash at his back and leaping back again, not wanting to catch a rebound attack. She wasn't sure of whether or not she'd hit him, but she'd see soon enough.

Haine's shunpo was indeed quick, however Tao was able to trace her steps behind him and swung his zanpakuto from behind to parry, bending backwards in a show of his flexability, and unorthidox style of fighting. He spun quickly, noticing Haine had backed away after her chance.

Very good, he thought. She's not overstepping and taking precautions. She's got a quick mind in battle. He smiled, intending to test just how quick she can be.

He vanished in a flash of shunpo, appearing besider her quickly and striking out with a slash. He shunpoed again, appearing other her other side and striking. He continued this pattern, shunpoing and striking at different angles to see if she has the reflex to dodge, block or counter attack.

Obviously, Haine's excessive training in swordsmanship had paid off, as she blocked every attack, except for one, which had bounced off her blade and struck her in the side. Though it wasn't a deep or fatal wound, it caught her off guard.
Quickly, she used one of his pauses to lash out, hoping that he might get caught. He was certainly skilled, but there was a chance even someone of his level might fall for it. She didn't want to resort to trickery, but she deemed it nessecary.
Of course, all this would be determined once she knew if it had worked or not.
