Caravans come and caravans go, but the heart of the Destari tribe traces their roots across the land and throughout time; their footsteps guided by the wind and songs guided by the stars.

Time, like the wheels of the Destari wagon, is constantly turning; after a harsh winter and a dreary spring, the tribe members have found themselves in need of much – supplies are low in their central camp, bringing morale with it. Tempers are short from cramped winter confinement, making enemies of even the closest of friends. Too, many new tribe members have yet to learn what it means to be of Destari stock – even performed by elders, tales and tunes are a poor substitute for the education of the road; the thrill of sharing songs, glimpses of the future… and occasionally liberating an audience of their goods.

But the Destari have a reputation to keep; the performers' caravan must only take the best and brightest, so as to keep favor with the Syeira. A happy Syeira made for better travels... and looser rules involving friendly liberation of goods.

Now, with freedom just over the horizon, the time has arrived for the performers' to gather a caravan and set forth – What will YOU bring to get the show on the road?

Vadoma sighed, tiredly looking out over the chaos that was the Destari base camp. She was enjoying the warmth of the setting sun from the steps of her wagon. Simionce, her feathered companion, napped on his shaded perch, oblivious to the ruckus everyone was causing. It had been a miserable winter and the young Syeira had been ready to travel for weeks, but heavy spring rains and ankle-deep mud had made that impossible without risk to the horses and smaller wagons. Now that it was finally dry enough to escape the mountains, she was ready to go!

Vadoma could not hear anything over the sounds of her tribe preparing to go on the trails of Elohino, but a sixth sense had her turning suddenly westward and narrowing her eyes in the bright light. A graceful, smoke-marked wolf sauntered out of the trees nearby, approaching the Syeira's wagon. Vadoma watched with a half smile and offered a nod as the wolf settled at the base of her steps to join the people-watching.

"Sastimos, simensa... I take it you are ready to move on as well?

Nahimana had just woken from a day-long, sun-induced doze. She had escaped the camp earlier that morning because the noise of the humans was making her slightly crazed. Now, as the sun was starting to set, she sensed Vadoma would be gathering the tribe together soon for an evening campfire, so she went to rejoin her companion. Situating herself at the base of the stairs, Nahi relaxed with a fangy grin as the girl above her started humming a favored traveling song.

Pali gazed wide-eyed at all the hustle and bustle around the camp. He and his human had been taken in by the Destari after passing out on the trail, falling victim to the horrific winter that had left its mark on the tribe, as well. He'd never seen so much motion - they were apparently going somewhere?

Pali's jaw dropped in a near-laugh; if they were going places, that meant more new people to test his tricks on... many of the Destari were beginning to know them almost better than he did!
Speaking of the Destari... his eyes fell on the smoke-marked wolf sitting near the alpha-human's wagon. Sparkling eyes narrowed and he dropped to the ground, deciding to test his skills yet again.

'I will catch Nahimana unawares, even if it takes me a year!'

Vadoma allowed her song to trail off as she hear Simionce shifting and letting out a soft coo. By the time she had turned though, the blue-grey owl had already resettled himself. Lazy living pillow-stuffing she thought fondly, turning back forward in time to catch her wolf friend's soft sigh. "Is something the matter Nahi?

'Incoming' Simionce had cooed softly. Nahimana simply released a sigh and offered her thanks in a near-whisper of sound. "I saw him Simionce, but thank you. You would think he would give up by now." At the Syeira's question, Nahi shook her head slightly. 'No Vadoma, the new "fox" pup is trying to prank me again.' Pali, the fox-colored wolf pup, simply tried too hard. Because he tried so hard, it was easy to notice him. Nahimana was actually rather entertained by his antics, but would never let him know. Pity Vadoma would not allow his human-child, Jaelle, out of her sight, or Pali might be in a different caravan and no longer Nahimana's responsibility should he annoy someone.

Jaelle stared. Were they going somewhere? She knew the Destari traveled, but the weather had been one roadbump after another - the wagons had remained in one location. She shivered, excitement at the prospect of traveling warring with her fear of new people.
Was there something she was supposed to be doing? She caught Vadoma's eye and headed her way. The Syeira would certainly tell her if she was slacking off in any way...

Pali cringed as he heard the elder wolf's sigh. Had she heard him? It sometimes seemed like she knew his antics before he did them...
He ground his teeth, scuffling in the dirt before he realized that was no way to slip about. He lowered himself to the ground... and waited.

She'd slip off, he knew it! He just had to wait her out...

Vadoma shook her head, bemused with both herself and the unfortunate wolf pup. She still was not quite used to hearing the bell-like tone of the smokey female's voice in her head. Wolves did not sound like bells. But the totem spirits did... or at least the ones that chose to speak directly to her did. As for Pali... well, Nahi would put him in his place if he got out of line. She was very good at finding ways to subdue and control the totems of her tribe. And Vadoma made no mistake about it: while she, as the Syeira, was in charge of the humans... this was just as much Nahimana's tribe. She considered the wolf to be a ruling partner of sorts.

Stretching, Nahimana decided to distract the pup before he started harassing other tribe members. After all, the sooner they finished packing, the sooner they would travel and the sooner the choas woud be reduced to more normal levels. The Destari camps were always chaotic, but this was beyond what any living creature should be made to tolerate! Standing slowly, Nahi looked over her shoulder at her friend 'I am going to go get that ridiculous pup. His human pup approaches and smells of nervousness.'

Twitching her tail in irritation, Nahimana started toward Pali's hiding place, using a passing group as cover to duck into the shadows of the bushes. Her dark colors and swirling markings allowed her to blend easily with the twilight shadows. Very quickly and silently, she was able to circle around behind the pup's hiding place. Moving until she was directly above his tensely-waiting frame, she put her muzzle right next to his ear; but then spoke in a normal voice rather than a whisper. "Who is the unfortunate victim this time, chavo?"

Natsu usually spent his time stalking along the edges of the tribe, never one who enjoyed being around people much, nor the little chieftain she wolf despite what his destiny foretold of their 'relation' with each other. At least he didn't want to spend any more time socializing then was absolutely necessary.

Yawning softly as he made his way closer into camp, the entire place had been a buzz lately, after their recent long stop they would finally be moving again..finally! He loved it when the caravan was on the move, the traveling was one of his favorite things of being with this tribe. Everyone seemed to be busy getting things ready, for after the fireside meeting tonight they would decide their next destination. He hoped it was a large town this time...
Natsu skimmed by a few wagons, slipping off to where he knew the leaders wagon was set up. "Well well..whas this" his grin slowly widening as he watched palis attempt to sneak up on nahimana. He'd always liked that pup more then some of the others, lively and fun, palis never seemed to give up on his tricks heh and it was fun to watch nahi play.

Amitola walked along the outside of the tribes preformers, as of now he has no talent. All he was was a brightly colroed male that most though was a female. Sighing he sat down and watched his fellow Totems, almost wishing someone would help him find who he was.

He saw Pali, a fox colred wolf trying to play a prank on an older totem he called Nahi. Who was with his Syeira Vadoma. Thy were all very nice but he had just come into the pack when he was young and still didn't know many of the others.

Pali yipped at the voice in his ear - 'What the heck?' How did she get so close to him?! He swung himself to the side, turning to face the elder wolf with a reluctant grin on his face.

"Sastimos," he greeted, lowering his head with his ears flattened in frustration. Remembering her question he cringed, "Er... no... no victim, it would appear, beebi," he answered with a bit of a pout in his voice. "Er... oh, there's Jaelle. I'd best check on her!" He began to back away slowly, jaw clenched.

Jaelle approached the Syeira with her head down, scuffling her feet slightly. "Sastimos, Syeira," she murmured. "Is there anything I could be assisting with?"

Natsu broke down into a fit of silent laughter, trying to hide it beneath a paw as he watched the scene unfold. Poor pali, he'd never stood a chance at spooking nahi. Watching with quite a bit of mirth as the little fox colored pup scuttled off, embarrassed at being so easily caught. "You know nahi..you could let him catch you at least once. It might boost his self esteem a bit don't you think?" natsu grinned quietly as he approached her, a small nod of his head being the equivalent to a bow, at least as far as he was concerned.

He had no reason to bow to her, someone he'd known for so long. "So what's going on today eh? Every one seems in such a bustle, were finally getting out of this place it seems.." tail wagging despite his wanting it to, he had to admit he was happy to be leaving overjoyed actually. Patrolling seemed like a fun thing at the moment, knowing it would be the last time they'd see this particular spot for quite some time.

Madonna pulled her scarf tighter around her throat and peered down upon the busy group known as the Destari. Why she'd decided to leave the comfort of the familiarity D'ah and Arianwen provided to the older, lost wolf, was beyond all of them. But she hoped that by following a new tribe, a zest for life would return to her and she'd be able to make the lasting relationships she'd been enving for years.

Slowly, she decended the hill, approaching what was now her tribe.

Alorin left her home, holding her little Anuame in her arms. The bundle squirmed and stirred as he sniffed the air, wanting to be up and about to observe. Alorin, though, had a place to be. She needed to speak to the Syeira as soon as possible. For this cute little creature to have come from the family totem, it was more than what could be understood. So she looked around the area for Vadoma, trying to keep Anuame calm.

"Hush, little love. Everything is fine. I just have to get you to see a new friend." She rubbed along his face, the fur so soft and beautiful. It was going to be an interesting time with him, Alorin knew already.

Watching the departing totemess, even Vadoma never saw Nahimana enter the shadows.
Sneaky creature. Summoning a gentle smile, she turned to the approaching Jaelle.

"Aye chavi, there is plenty you can do! But you know what would be most helpful to me right now?
We need to light the central bonfire for tonight's meeting... do you think you could do that for me, Jaelle?
Then you and Pali can go tell everyone we are gathering at the center of camp soon."

Standing, Vadoma lightly ruffled the girl's hair and looked out past Jaelle's shoulder.
Alorin was approaching the rise and appeared to be cradling something.
Raising her voice slightly, the Syeira called out;

"Alorin, how goes the packing? Are you ready to journey out?"

Calling after the pup as he slithered away to his human, Nahimana settled back on her haunches and rolled her eyes.

"Make yourself useful Pali. The Syeira will call a gathering soon. Help Jaelle round up the tribe."

Managing to keep a fangy grin from surfacing, Nahi arched back lazily,
using the thick fur of Natsu's neck ruff to scratch her cheek.

"The pup can win when he earns it." Nahimana glanced over her shoulder to meet the striped male's amused gaze.
"And he has no shortage of self-esteem or self-confidence," she added in a droll voice.

Assuming Natsu would follow, Nahi began moving off towards the highest point of the rise
the Syeira's wagon sat on to observe the camp. Madonna and Amitola were both skulking
in the shadows around the camp, looking lost. Nahimana did not know them well:
really she knew nothing other than their names, but hers was a tribe that welcomed all with open arms.
They simply had to follow the Kintala of the Destari... and not annoy Nahimana too greatly.

Standing at the top of the rise, Nahi inhaled the fresh spring air and let out a gusty sigh.

"We are breaking camp soon Natsu. You should know this... did you not scent the shift in the wind?

(( yes, yes, I know, I posted from the mule. Just a quick announcement!
If you are going to address multiple people like I just had to,
just bold the names of the character please ^.^ ))
