 Acenath and Akinyi had been away from home for so so long. They were tired and somewhat annoyed. Their trip had been so unsuccessful they didn't want to go home in fear of looking shameful.
"Oh Akinyi what are we to do?"
"Why are you asking me? I'm not the princess!" The dog smirked as she spoke back to the lioness. The two of them had grown up together and teased each other constantly.
Acenath chuckled at her and shook her head sighing.
"I will think of something I am sure, could you go scout for food? I am hungry and need to rest." She had a pleading look on her face which she knew would work, it always did. It was something Akinyi always fell for or maybe she did it because of how loyal she was to the lioness, who knew?
Akinyi turned and ran off with a short bark back at her. Acenath smiled and looked around taking in their surroundings. They were quite in the open here but she could see a tree that was giving shade willingly and so she turned and started to head towards the tree. She would rest there until Akinyi came back.

 Zoran knew it was about time for his travels to come to an end. Each time he thoughtabout it though, a slight panic would make his heart flutter. He had finally relented to the fact that he was afraid to go home. He had been traveling at a steady pace that day, but with the sun high in the sky, he was becoming a bit sluggish. It's time for a good rest.He thought to himself. Looking around, Zoran spotted a tree. Unknown to him, it was the same tree that Akinyi was headed for. He didn't see the lioness, as he started towards the welcome source of shade. At least, not untill he looked up from his rust-tipped toes in favor for the image before him. Zoran stilled, then took a step back, ears flattening slightly. It had been,... forever since he had talked to another. He opened his mouth, but no sounds came out. The young lion then cleared his throat, and put on what he thought was a friendly smile, and stepped fowards once more. "Uh, hi there!"

Acenath was looking forward to curling up under the tree and was rather shocked to suddenly look up and see another lion. The best thing about it though was the fact that he looked like sand. He looked as if he belonged in the desert! Oh where was Akinyi when you needed her?
"Hey!" She spoke softly back at him. He seemed a little nervous.
"I am Acenath." She smiled as she introduced herself and wondered whether maybe, possibly he would want to join her pride. Oh she could hope! She really did wish Akinyi was here though the dog always knew how to react in social situations much better then she did. She didn't know what else to say other then to introduce herself, but she was eager to ask...
"Do you live around here?"

Acenath. He mentally repeated.
"My name's Zoran, uh,...I've been traveling so,..no. This is not my home," He shook his head.
She seemed friendly enough..and perhaps he hadn't realized how truely lonely he was, but he was absolutely thrilled to be talking to someone. His ears were perked, and his tail flicked about happily. Certainly a change from his initial bout of 'omg, wut!?' earlier.
"You have a nice name," the then gave a bit of a chuckle, "It's shorter than most of my family. Sure makes it easy to remember. So, uh, what about you? You live here?"

Zoran, was an easy name to remember!
"Oh? I have been travelling too and Zoran is also a short name!" She chuckled a little. He seemed nice enough. In fact he seemed really friendly and instantly likeable. Akinyi would be proud of her!
"I live in a pride quite a way from here, my father is the king and so mother is the queen. We live in the desert and there is this big temple and it's beautiful." She smiled widely as she spoke of her home. She loved it and oh she really missed it.
"Akinyi and I set out to find more members to bring home but we haven't done so well. Akinyi is off looking for food at the moment, she is my bonded wolf." She thought it would be best to mention her now instead of waiting until she came back because that might be a bit harder to explain.

"Ah~! A wondering princess." Zoran gave a mock bow, then straightened up again, "Your home sounds nice. Ever get tired of the desert heat though?"
Zoran could remember when he had crossed the desert near what had been his home. He didn't go too deep, because he had been told of a fierce pride of lions the color of fire. He had wisely chose to fore-go that exploration, but remembered how hot the sands could be.
"Bonded wolf?" The lion slightly tilted his head, then brightened, "Well, I guess it goes to show there can be harmony among different species!"
Once he had been told, by an old grumpy lion, that two so very different beasts could never find peace together. He had dismissed the old coot's words, but has seen enough times the feuds that could ensue between feline and canine.

Acenath would have blushed if she could have when he gave a mock bow. Tired of the desert heat? Hmmm.
"No I don't think so, we have enough places to go to get out the heat if you need to. That and you get use to it." She let out a soft sigh. "I really miss it to be honest, I have been away from home for so long." Well she would go home soon, there was little point in wandering when she seemed to be failing at her mission.
"Yes I have grown up with Akinyi, She was given to me when I was a cub and she is my best friend without a doubt." She was more then happy talking about Akinyi. It was easy to talk about her as they knew everything about each other.
"My sister and father are also bonded with wolves. Jackals are also used in the pride." She smiled. They was a lot of harmony between the pride, other then with the vultures, they would all like to attack those vultures.

"Oh yeah, that has to make it better." His desert experience was just the opposite. There had been nothing but open sand. He wondered. though, just what these 'temples' were like.
"Wow," Zoran remarked. "Well then, I'd like to meet this Akinyi of yours! I've never talked to a wolf before,...obviously!" He laughed.
Zoran was a very open-minded, easy-going lion. He liked harmony, and tried to avoid conflict -- a good ol' lover, not a fighter. When things were peaceful and in order, he was his happiest..even more so when he was making smiles.
That's how it was when at home - goofing off to make his siblings happy,..even when they were all fighting with one another. The memories brought a smweet smile to the gold and rosey-rust colored lion.

Acenath smiled. She wondered if maybe she could get him to go back with her? If so then at least she wouldn't have completely failed!
"Maybe you could come visit the pride? You might like it!" She offered it up as an option but not too pushy. She hoped that this would at least maybe get him to think about it. Oh please let her have found someone!
"Akinyi? Oh I am sure she will be around soon, she can be gone for quite a while though when herd tracking. She is better at it then me so she generally tracks the herds, comes back and then we go hunting." She laughed a little and wondered where Akinyi was. It was odd she was use to be without Akinyi when she went off for this but she wasn't use to talking to others without her near by.

Well, Zoran really didn't have anywhere else to be, or any set destination so..
"Sure," he nodded. "That'd be great."
Ah, tracking and hunting. Deffinately not one of his finer skills. he got most of his meals by sheer luck.
"Whew~ more power to those with that kind of expertise."
Truth be told, Zoran didn't see how some of these more vibrantly colored predators snagged a meal. His mane alone was like a 'HEY YO! LION HERE!' sign..or at least it seemed to work that way for him most of the time.

Acenath was shocked. He just said he would go back with her! She had to try incredibly hard to hide the fact that this was the best news in the world! She just continued to smile but her eyes lit up, she was so happy.
"Oh wow, awesome. I am sure you will like it. It's not all sand." She smiled at him a little wider then she had been and maybe it was just pure luck that a bark of sorts snapped her out of her little glee fit.
"Akinyi!" She called out happily before turning back to the male.
"This is Akinyi. She is the best herd tracker in the world for sure!" Acenath then turned back to see the brown wolf heading in their direction. Between Acenath and Akinyi they were lucky when it came to hunting. In the dry grass Acenath blended in well and in the jungle/forest areas Akinyi blended in well.
Akinyi trotted up to the two lions not overly sure what to make of the fact that Acenath was having a conversation without her, it was strange and unusual. As she reached them she looked at Acenath before trotting over to stand next to her and then stared at the other lion. She cocked her head slightly as if she was looking at him from all angles.
"Akinyi, this is Zoran and he is going to come and visit the pride!" Her excitement was evident in her voice, she couldn't hide it not now Akinyi was around.
"Hello Zoran it's nice to meet you." Akinyi bowed her head at the lion and then sat down and panted a little. She had ran back as the herd she had been tracking was suddenly being hunted by other lions.

"I'm sure I will," Zoran replied, trying to imagine the landscape in his own mind, just as a bark sounded Akinyi's return.
He watched the wolf, having never been so close to one. He gave her a friendly smile as Acenath introduced them. She was smaller than he had thought she'd be. In his mind, though, things were always so much bigger...probably to equal the size of his vast imagination.
"Likewise! Acenath has been singing your praises ever since you were mentioned." Zoran looked to said lioness as he teased.

Acenath couldn't stop smiling. At last everything was going right and it made her so happy. Her ears pricked at her name and then chuckled. She had all the right to sing Akinyi's praises and well she was so happy that they were together. Acenath would have been lost in various ways without her.
"Thats because Acenath is Acenath. Watch it or she will be singing your praises too!" Akinyi spoke directly to the lion. He seemed nice enough in her opinion and as she said to him, she would soon hear a lot about him through Acenath. She had a habit of singing the praises of people even if they were far from nice but Akinyi was use to it.
"Oh shush Akinyi!" Acenath chuckled. She then turned to Zoran again,
"Would you like to go hunting? Or we could start the journey back to my pride?" She was giving him the choice as she really didn't mind and she knew Akinyi wouldn't either, in fact she hadn't even asked Akinyi how the tracking had gone. Oh well Akinyi wouldn't mind, not when they had at last found someone!

"I'll, uh, leave that decision up to you," Zoran said, giving a small laugh. "I'm not much of a hunter..but, y'know, if you're hungry, I'm willing to help!"
Zoran didn't want to hinder their hunt, and he didn't want to seem lazy either. But like Acenath, he didn't know what the results of Akinyi's tracking was.
"Perhaps we should ask your master tracker friend?"

Acenath smiled, oh yes Akinyi!
"Oh Akinyi please tell us what you found!" Acenath looked to the wolf all excited. She loved to listen to her stories of tracking. Acenath envied her but they worked well as a team so she was just grateful to have such an awesome friend.
"Well..." Akinyi spoke looking to Acenath and then Zoran so that she spoke to both of them.
"I found a large herd, you could have had your pick too, zebras, antelope and some wildebeest but i didn't stick around long. There must be a pride near by for there were many lions hunting and I wasn't about to become dinner!" She laughed at the last bit.
"I vote we start heading home. We have been away from the desert for long enough if it is okay with you two?" Akinyi smiled as she spoke. She knew Acenath didn't need to eat as she had eaten yesterday but Akinyi did need to eat but she could go and catch a rabbit or something.
"I shall catch up though, I need to eat something. I shall see you later Acenath, was nice to meet you Zoran!" She bowed her head to him before rushing off. She really was hungry.
Acenath smiled back at Zoran.
"Akinyi tends to run off on small hunting trips, she can't go without food for as long as lions can. So are you okay with heading to the desert? We can always hunt on the way at some point." She smiled widely. In the end she wouldn't bother whether Zoran could hunt well or not, as long as they would be able to catch something.
