Alrighty then children, the Summertime 2009 Challenge will be a little stranger than past Challenges. I know that people will be travelling this summer and otherwise unavailable, but I also want to get the guild back up and running,
So here's my solution. All three summer months will now fall under one challenge.
Challenge Four: Summer Boogaloo This challenge will end at 12:00 p.m. on August 31st. Between now and then you must comlete any of the folowing 10 prompts: 1 - One work of poetry with rhyme scheme 2 - One free verse poem 3 - One character introspective oneshot 4 - One action driven oneshot (i.e. no characters moping about. Think fight scene.) 5 - Start one original work of fiction 6 - Complete one original work of fiction 7 - Start one fanfic 8 - Complete one fanfic 9 - Write a oneshot series 10 - Write a complete essay on the topic of your choice (does not need to be serious i.e. purple elephants and their negative impact on the economic importance of Poland would apply)
The coolest part about this Summer Challenge, you ask? Why the competition! Previously, these challenges have been entirely personal. Now, you have the opportunity to show your stuff in a real arena. There will be point values attatched to each possible submission, and there in no limit to possible points. (P.S. should you publish a novel over the summer, you win. Automatically.) The Scoring by number 1.) Four points per poem 2.) Three points per poem 3.) Four points per one shot 4.) Five points per oneshot 5.) Five points per chapter 6.) Points per chapter +20. 7.) Five points er chapter 8.) Points per chapter +20 9.) Six points per chapter (since it's unlikely to be completed) 10.) Eight points.
Beyond the basic scoring, it is also possible to win additional points: - Reviews: You get 1 point for each review your story gets, and 2 for every review over the first hundred. So, a story with 60 reviews get 60 pts, and one with 160 yets 220 points. - Member Voting (each member vote is worth 2 points. So if 4 people vote for your piece, you get 8 points whether you win the category or not.) Members may pick up to 3 pieced for each category. Members get to vote for; Best Grammar Best Poem Best Plot Best Villan Best Hero Most In Character fanfic Most OOC franfic Funniest Story Most Moving Story Most Compelling Essay Most Descriptive - If you do one of each prompt it's an automatic +10pts.
The Prizes: The Awards handed out will be called the Pandas, and are unique to this guild. By the time they are awarded, there will be a panda icon for your siggy and your name will be put in the Records hall as a Summer '09 winner. Here are the possible prizes: Member's Choice: Best Grammar Best Poem Best Plot Best Villan Best Hero Most In Character fanfic Most OOC franfic Funniest Story Most Moving Story Most Compelling Essay Most Descriptive Reader's Choice: Won by the writer with the most total reviews/Review points Director's Choice My pick for overall best Best in Show Won by the most decorated piece by shows end The Panda Chosen by Member votes at the end of the competition. All oieces must be submitted specifically to this competition to be considered eligible.
All pieces must be sumitted by Agust 31st, and posted online in some fashion (gaia, Fanfiction, FictionPress), with proof that they were published after June 7th, the start date. If you're using an existing work, start counting points from wherever you are now, on. (i.e., the 200 revies you've got now don't count yet.)
There is NO limit to how many or what of the prompts you do.
Questions? Post em' here. I know it's confusing.

Alright everyone! The Summer Boogaloo will officially end in 1 hour and 23 minutes. Please make sure all of your submissions are in by tomorrow, as that is when I will begin tallying points and put works up for awards.
