It was a calm starry night, and the wild life in the jungle began to make themselves known. It is humid here, but it is bearable, and with all of the trees it is easy for the smaller animals to hide from the lager ones. Here high up in the folliage, a flash of gold can be seen, flicking back and forth. But don't be fooled, if a bird or some other animal were to mistake it for something shiny and try to claim it for their own, they would quickly meet with the owner of the shiny. A black female rogue lion, with gold markings and a few scars to boot.
Here in the foliage lies Yaretzi. Her eyes are closed and she's currently listening to the crickets all around her making their evening symphony. She liked it when she finds places like these on her quest to the Demon pride. It's calm here, and easy going, and sometimes, just sometimes, she honestly thinks about staying here. But of course, she knows she can't, as much as she would like to... in the end, it wouldn't be safe for her to live here. No where ever seems to be safe.
She sighed to herself, allowing one of her legs to slip off the branch and hang in the air. She looked up towards the sky for a moment, wondering how far from home she was. It was clear out, not a cloud in the sky. But why should there be a cloud at night when there wasn't even a whisp of one in the day? She closed her eyes again. It was a full moon, and it was rather bright out. Despite the fact that she was deep in a jungle, the leaves were still a little sparse even here. Maybe she wasn't as close to a source of water as she'd originally thought she was... Who knew? At least she knew there was plenty of food around. She smiled at that thought, if she couldn't drink water, she'd drink blood. That might alleviate her Demon that had been pestering her for the past few days....

Alastair strodded through the dark at a more tentative pace. He was still not use to being half blind, though his other eye had sure been hightened ever since. He doubted he'd meet anyone here, so he took his time, and wasn't as tense as usual.
Cricket's chirped below him at his feet, and he enjoyed the feel of the cool grass on his pads. He walked till he saw, what looked to be a shadowed..leg? A small gleam caught his eye, a shiny yellow color. He sat down casually below it, wondering if he should say something, or if this creature was napping.

Yaretzi had heard the male, rather than seen him, his colors made him blend in with the area around him. but what she could see, was his eyes, one a startling aqua-marine, and the other, a milky white. ((just assuming)) When he was closer to her, she could see him a bit more clearly thanks to the night light, she lifted her leg that had been hanging and let out a long and loud cat like yawn, twisting her head and stretching as much as the branch would allow.
She looked down at him a moment longer, her gold eyes gleaming and twitching with thought. "Can I help you?" she asked, not in a sarcastic or rude way, but not in a nice and polite way either, almost in a manner devoid of expression or emotion.

Alastair, a bit startled, only stared up at the lioness. "Well, no, I was passing by." He said with a tiny smile and shrugged. "I just suddenly saw your pelt," Motioning toward her leg, talking mainly about her shiny yellow markings in her fur then the black that blended into the night so well.
"Excuse me, how rude of me," Suddenly slightly appauled with himself "I am Alastair mi'lady, may I ask to know your name?" His words were, a bit rushed as if he had forgotten lines to say.

'Mi'lady'? She heard her demon question in her mind, pfft, what a woose. Yaretzi gave a mental shake of her head, trying to ignore the voice in her head and returned her attention back to the male beneath her. She sighed, standing up on the tree branch and jumping off of it, making a long arch for the ground and landing with a quieted thud on the ground below. She stretched out before him, and then went into a sitting position, an uninterested look on her face.
She wanted to make some snarky remark back to him, sort of like, 'yeah, you CAN ask me what my name is.' but she decided against it. Why make him angry? "Yaretzi." she said plainly. "nice to meet you, Alastair."

Alastair smiled, "Thats a nice name," his guard fell slightly, and he shifted his weight bearing leg. "Are you...from around here? Or traveling?" Wanting to make idle chit chat before he left to find a place to rest for the night, he thought he might as well make a friend? Or at least try to in her case.

Yaretzi felt her tail begin to twitch back and forth as she watched the male. Her guard was always up in unknown places, especially at night. She could literally SEE his guard go down from the way his body relaxed. She watched him shift his leg, thinking that he shouldn't be this comfortable in front of a rogue he'd never met before, and if she were a meaner lioness she'd take advantage of it.
"Thank you." she said finally, her attention being drawn back to Alastair. "No, I'm not from around here. I take it that neither are you?" She didn't admit that she was traveling anywhere, becuase that usually was followed by the question "oh, well where are you going?" and when she answered, people tended to shy away or have an angry confrontation with her about 'her kind'.

"Oh, no I'm not from around here, I'm a rogue, so I wander." He shrugged a little, trying to give her another smile as he saw her tail twitch. He wondered if he was getting on her nerves. "Are you traveling?" He wondered even if this lioness wanted to talk.

Truth be told, Yaretzi wasn't getting irritated, not much about this male got on her nerves. She just doesn't smile, it was nothing to do with Alastair, Yaretzi just wasn't big on emotions. She hadn't been for a long time. She nodded her head, listening to him talk. "Ah, I see." she could tell he was wandering. He had to have been there wasn't a sign of his scent anywhere in the small jungle that they were currently in. "Yes, i am traveling. Although..." she added, looking thoughtful for a moment. "not right now, not technically."

"Ah, I see.." He trailed off, uncertain about what to say. He inclined his head a bit, getting a better look at her, "You must be an excellent huntress of the night," he said casually, changing the subject abruptly.

She let out a short laugh. Yaretzi wasn't certain if it could even technically be considered a true laugh. "Yes." She said casually, wondering if this male talked much to others. Alastair seemed to her, to be a bit, well he seemed social, just that he didn't get the chance to practice that capability. It was odd, and she almost smiled. She'd just met an anti-social social lion. How many of those were there in the jungle? "It's best when there's no moon out, there isn't any moon light to shine off of my stripes. What about you?" she asked cocking her head in question. "You seem to be one to blend in perfectly with both the night and day."

He shrugged, "I don't seem to have much trouble with either now, I've gotten better with my lameness, it is a bit harder at night, but I manage." He felt a tiny knot in his chest, being blind was not what anyone would have wanted in their young adult life, but Alastair had been unlucky. "Guess I got the short end from that stick," he laughed half heartedly.

Yaretzi had avoided looking at his eyes directly, she'd always felt somewhat, uncomfortable and guilty, that they were lacking in something that she took advantage of. She listened to him laugh and her eyes narrowed. "That's a pessimistic way of thinking." She said, walking closer to him, she began to circle him, looking him up or down. "Manage?" She asked a slight sneer on her face. "You should do more than manage, you should train yourself in the areas you find you are lacking. Being blind in one eye should make you hone your other senses. SO you can't see? When it's pitch black neither can I. But you can her can't you? You can smell?" She circled him once or twice, maybe even three times as she stated these things, before in front of him and sitting down again. "Don't think of it as a disability. It's not suiting to the surviving and endearing nature that most lions are gifted with."

Alastair shrugged, "I am not most lions. But yes, I want to train and get stronger. Not for myself, but to defend things I couldn't before. To protect." His shoulders sagged a bit, "But right now, traveling is the only thing I'm doing. "I always try to think optimisticly. Guess sometimes it does strike me once in a while."

"Mmm-hmm..." Yaretzi said looking around herself, paying complete attention to what it was that he was saying but also seemingly looking for something important. "Train eh?" She asked turning back to him, sizing him up and down. "If you ask me, this place here is the best place for that. It's got quite a few little things running around here, you could REALLY hone everything by staying here for a while." She cocked her head to the side and stared at his eye. "How'd that happen, if you don't mind me asking."
