Melody had never seen so many flowers in her life.
Actually, that was a lie. She'd seen gardens, flower shops, photos of fields of wildflowers... But this is the first time the flowers have been all for HER.
They're a welcome distraction from the overwhelming soreness, anyway. The aches and pains of her body recovering from delivery is one thing, but the aching in her hand from the IV is something she is NOT prepared for.
And as she holds a quietly alert Eiji in her arms while watching Tsubaki sleeping in her bassinet, she struggles to keep a lid on her discomfort.
Eeeeeeeeeasy, Melody. This is relaxing time. Here she is, alone with the babies, able to just lie back and let the events of the last twenty four hours sink in.
Right? Right.
...
Maybe.

As Melody laid marveling at her flowers, Hitsuga was marveling at other things entirely as he quickly sidestepped, cringing out of the way of a pair of purposefully-moving nurses pushing an empty wheelchair and dragging along an IV. Everyone was in such a hurry here...and yet, unlike other places he'd been in which there were this many humans, it was oddly quiet.
He had no idea if he was going in the right direction or not....it had taken climbing many flights of stairs and several people noticing his aimless wandering and asking if he needed help to get him THIS far (and he guessed, with the increasing number of decorative pictures of infants that adorned the desks and walls he must be, at the least, close)
"Help you find somebody, sir?" a pleasant female voice inquires from behind him, making him jolt and readjust his hold on the small basket he's carrying, turning to see a smiling human woman seated behind a desk, looking in his direction.
"....Melody?" he asks, almost pleadingly. He apologizes, he truly does, if he is getting in the way. He is only checking in on a friend to ensure she has safely had her children... sweatdrop The womans eyes flick to her clipboard, shuffling papers before tapping one.
"Melody with no last name?"
A blank look was her response, though she nonetheless smiled. "Down that way, second door on your right. She might be sleeping, though, if her babies aren't still visiting."
A flutter of deep thanks is projected to her as he heads in the direction indicated, carefully counting the doors and stopping at one that hangs, just slightly, open.
Bracing himself, he knocks politely.
Is Lady Melody awake...?

Melody perks up a bit at the projection (and the knock), but fatigue prevents her from doing much more than that. She does, however, manage to call out to the visitor...
"...Hitsuga?"

Encouraged by the familiar (if weary) voice, he nudges the door open a bit to peek inside, finding that it is, indeed, Melody looking back at him from the bed's direction.
Smiling, his projections those of relief and happiness, he quietly enters and eases the door closed behind him.
He is glad to see that she is all right. How is she? How are the children?

Melody is sore and absolutely exhausted, but ultimately relieved that she's no longer pregnant. Then again, she hears, it only gets more chaotic from this point on...
As for the children, Hitsuga can see for himself. Healthy, with all their fingers and toes. whee A little easily overstimulated, perhaps, but in a place with so many people and in a room with so many things, Melody can see why. sweatdrop
She lifts the golden-eyed baby slightly, to allow Hitsuga a better look. This, she informs him, is Eiji, and the girl in the bassinet is Tsubaki.
It would seem, she thinks, furrowing her brow in thought, Jin's prediction in the silver world was right on the money. Once she's well enough to travel, she'll have to let hir know...

He....well, he would imagine the exhaustion likely goes hand-in-hand with such an ordeal. sweatdrop And, if she should need, he will offer help where he can. Even if its only a friendly ear now and then.
As he says this, he has drawn nearer to set the basket down on the bedside table, as Melody adjusts Eiji to where he can better see and...
and...
.....Melody, Eiji is adorable...! 4laugh

He has his grandfather's eyes, Melody adds, unable to hide her amusement. And hair.
At this, she lifts the knit cap on his head just enough that a fine lock of golden-brown hair is visible.
His sister, on the other hand, looks more like their mommy and daddy.
As she's mentioned, Tsubaki stirs slightly, faint sighs and hazy, indistinguishable projections catching Melody's attention.
Speaking of which, it looks like she's waking up... sweatdrop

Oh my... sweatdrop He gives a small chuckle as the lock of hair springs into view. If he takes after his grandfather further than that, Lady Melody may, indeed, be quite busy in the coming months.
Leaning in a bit, to see beyond Melody to the bassinet where the other infant is, he smiles at Tsubaki, offering the infant a small, quiet projection of greeting before turning his attention back to her mother.
If Melody needs to tend to her family, he will not take up her time...he had only stopped to ensure she was all right, and to bring a gift.

Right now, it's a little too early to tell with Eiji... But at least Melody already has experience looking after her father.
And Melody, actually, is quite happy to see Hitsuga! She'd hoped she didn't worry him TOO much at prom, and--
Oh-- could he hold Eiji for a moment? Melody hasn't QUITE learned how to balance two babies at once yet... sweatdrop

Melody needn't worry about prom. It isn't as if she had control over when or where it might happen and--
erm....
He looks to Eiji and then back to Melody. If....Melody wouldn't mind showing him the proper way, he supposes he can...? Anxiety twinges his projected thoughts a bit, as if worried he might break the infant somehow.

Maybe, Melody thinks, Hitsuga should sit on the edge of the bed, just in case? But the babies have been through a rough journey already, and while even Melody handles them with extreme caution, she knows, in the back of her mind, that they are far more durable than they seem.
But.
Here, Melody gently instructs. Support his head... and that's all he really needs to know. He's been swaddled; Melody doubts he'll be able to flail about like a fish, even if he wants to.

Hitsuga does as he's told, seating himself on the edge of the bed, and allowing Melody to arrange Eiji in his arms, seeming awkward about it all.
When, at last, the infant is resting comfortably against him, blinking up at him with curious eyes as if to ask And you are...? Hitsuga allows the smile to return.
It must be something, he thinks, to be in Melody and Boyue's place right now. Knowing these little lives had not existed before their love had created them.

Melody gently lifts Tsubaki from her bassinet, kissing her forehead before holding her close.
She'd never actually... thought of it that way before. And for an instant, she can almost HEAR the sort of ribald remarks Arc would make in response to Hitsuga's observation. And she can't, for the life of her, keep her face from growing hot, her cheeks from flushing pink, or the escape of half-formed projections, abruptly cut off and sealed behind a wall (Preferably in the lower layers of hell), where they belong.

At the beginnings and abrupt endings of her projections, Hitsuga turns a curious eye on Melody, blinking. Is she all right...? His gaze flicks next to the infant he holds, ensuring Eiji has not magically fallen ill in the few seconds he's looked away.
Is Hitsuga doing something wrong? He's sorry... sweatdrop

No, no! Hitsuga didn't say anything wrong! It's... it's a beautiful sentiment, she assures him. And something she'd contemplated herself-- how two people can come together and create new life and--
Well, Melody has this niece who tends to, er... pervert the statements of others...
