Dorian was frowning to himself as Marius just watched him go back and forth, to and fro around the house. He was making sure that everything was clean for Ellandra and Verdant to come over, as he'd called the pair earlier this morning to give them directions to his posh apartment so they could go shopping. Deciding that yes, the apartment was clean, Dorian flopped down and picked up a chocolate chip muffin he and Marius had made earlier this morning. He'd been teaching Marius how to cook, after the little proto had checked into the lab to get a summary of Claudia's new digestive system installation. So Claudia was out of the house today, which made the proto vaugely lonely but not too much. He didn't know yet that Dorian had scheduled for new friends to come over and meet the new little Essentic.
Munching on the muffin, he patted the couch for Marius to sit, and the little Essentic quietly floated over and sat down by his master. Taking a muffin himself, he decided sweets were a good thing. He was really observing the world right now and honestly only thought of himself as a 'he' because Dorian had claimed Marius was a male name. So he thought it was appropriate, vaugely. Looking to Dorian, he cocked his head, the green tufts of hair twitching mysteriously.
"Master Dorian, is there anything you need this one to do while you are gone?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle, yet pressing for something constructive to do. Dorian just smiled kindly and patted his head, shaking his own.
"No, no, that's alright Marius. Today is a day for you to meet people. Other Essentics, like you. Just enjoy yourself today. And please dont' call me 'Master Dorian'. I much prefer Dorian, Dori, or 'my leige'." he chuckled, to which Marius nodded an affirmative. Alright. Dorian would now be called 'my leige'. He thought that sounded more interesting. He had to admit, he was interested in meeting others like him though, finding out what they were for and how their respective masters treated them. Dorian treated him like part of the family, always teaching him things and only expecting him to help out around the house and with research. It was good, medium-hard work, and it kept the proto busy and content.

Orpheus watched Verdant walk out of his tiny closet, frown, and walk back inside only to emerge in a different outfit. He's been doing this for a little while now and it was becoming a little redundant for the young Essentic.
"Big Brudder, fun wid udder friends?" Orpheus had heard Verdant say something about a playdate, which he explained was some sort of fun get-together, which he continued to explain was when two or more people met up with each other. He still didn't get it completely, but he had understood fun, so he didn't really care. The nereid finally came out of the closet (Orpheus understood that joke and chirped happily at it) wearing pants that had to have been painted on to his skin, black hiking boots, a blue-grey turtleneck, and a leather jacket. The smile on his face indicated that this was a good outfit for today.
"Yup! You're going to get to play with Rhian and Marius. You remember Rhian, right? The big pretty butterfly?" Verdant put his hands together and made them flutter like a butterfly's wings. A melodic hum meant that Orpheus remembered.
"Honey I know you know what I mean, and that's the one thing that you soon will find." After a few tries, Verdant had found that though Orpheus had a hard time saying words with the th sound, he could sing instead of speaking and convey his thoughts that way with much more ease, though with a bit of deciphering needed to understand him.
"Perfect! Alright, let's get going. Your big brother needs some new corsets." Verdant opened up a large messenger bag he'd bought after Orpheus emerged; it was the only way he could take him places without worrying about him being seen. The little Essentic hummed happily and flew into the bag, taking a copy of Emo Monthly with him. He needed something to keep him busy, right?
A little while later, the two found themselves in front of Dorian's apartment door. Verdant couldn't believe how ritzy his place was; "posh" didn't do it justice. He unclasped the messenger bag and let Orpheus poke his head out. He whistled in awe, reminding Verdant of the cartoons he used to watch at the youth center. "Dis place is pretty, brah."
The nymph nodded in agreement and knocked on the door. "Dori, it's Verdant!"

Dorian jumped happily as Verdant called for him at the door, and came rushing to it like a happy little schoolgirl on crack. Marius quietly floated behind him, reading a book at the same time. Marius quite enjoyed Dorian's library collection. Right now he was reading Interview with a Vampire. A classic, Dorian had told him. It was quite good, although there was a lot of complaining and griping going on on Louis' part. The others' couldn't have been THAT bad. Besides, there was an undercurrent of affection in it that made Marius think of Dorian's attentive affection when he talked about Verdant. Yep. Beggining of an epic relationship, or so the little floating proto thought.
Coming to the door and swinging it open to reveal Verdant and Orpheus, Dorian practically squealed and hugged Verdant tightly, kissing the boy on both cheeks before ushering him into the house. He smiled down at the little dragon-like symphonic creature and scratched its head happily. Marius liked that, so perhaps this little one would too? Glowing with unbridled pleasure, Dorian took Verdant's hand and led him into the opulent and beautiful place he called home. Verdant was right on one thing. Posh was not the word.
Everything was so gorgeous and well-matched it looked like a $500,000 an hour designer had come in and spruced it up. But nope. This was allllllllll Dorian. He just liked things 'just so' and beautiful. Marius looked with keen interest at the little magiker in the bag and offered his muffin to the little creature with a shy smile. "Welcome to our home. My name is Marius, Dorian is 'my leige'. Who are you? Your master is well-loved by mine. My leige talks about Master Verdant aaaaaaalll the time."he smiled, probably giving away more information than intended. He didn't know the difference though, and Dorian wouldn't punish him for it. It would take something REALLY bad to make Dori punish him. He was almost as well loved as Miss Claudia.
"Ah ha ha ha! He's right, he's right. I'm caught. Ah, Ver darling how are you doing?! Oh! It's soooooo good to see you! We just have to wait for Ellie, and we'll be set to go! Don't worry about little Orpheus, Mari will take care of him. Do you want something to eat? I have no problem cooking something up real quick before Ellie comes by!" he giggled, his white hair swishing in its high ponytail.
Today, Marius had had to sit through much the same scene that Orpheus had just a little while before. The great 'Picking of the Outfit' as it had become in Marius's mind. It must be some kind of very important human mating ritual, he supposed, since you could almost see the little hearts radiating off of Dorian as he fawned over Verdant. Although Dorian didn't quite think that way yet, it seemed like it. He was just happy to have a friend so like him, someone younger that he could mold and be comfortable with without the prescedent that they'd have to go back to work together on Monday with sheepish faces and everybody whispering how they'd slept together. Dorian didn't hang out with staff much anymore because of it.
BUT! The great 'Picking of the Outfit' had yielded something that Dorian was quite proud of. A pair of bellbottom jeans graced his slender hips, and there were fashionable tears and splatters of paint and other questionable materials, and if you looked closely in the light, there was a dusting of gold and silver to accentuate him as he moved. Of course he had a pair of high solid nightblack boots on, and his hair was tied up in a ponytail with a matching black ribbon. His shirt was what made him look far less than his age though, and actually quite attractive. Instead of a regular blouse type thing that he'd wear on a 'comfy' day, he'd opted for a very mod, very tight black off-the-shoulder shirt. But that wasn't all. Oh no, this marvelous shirt had corsetting in the back, so every time he turned his back on you and his hair swished out of the way.....BAM! INSTANT SEXY! To accentuate, he had a pair of dangling onyx earings, and a black lace choker with a deep deep red ruby that matched some of the splotches on his jeans.
Ah, he was a feast for the eyes, he was. He grinned happily as he pulled a strand of hair from the ponytail to fall in front of his face, and started twisting it around his finger as he leaned against a wall opening. One of those fancy ones that was like a wall that had a window between rooms, without the glass. Hoisting himself up onto that ledge, he swung his legs happily and laugned with a cheerful tone. Meanwhile, Marius was swaying back and forth in place, content that his master was so happy in the company of another. He didn't see Dorian with many humans, so he figured this was good for him.

Ellandra adjusted the breadbasket she held over one arm, its silk-wrapped contents displeased but patient as she wrestled with the map that was supposed to be leading her to her destination . . . if only she could read it. "Oh, drat, was I supposed to turn left here or right, or not turn at all?" She asked herself, while the contents of the basket tried to remain still and relatively quiet, nevertheless asking,
"How much longer, please?"
Ellandra sighed and glanced down at the rolled-up butterfly and sighed, before turning to her map again. She stared at it for several moments, before folding it up and and placing it in the basket next to her "bread". "I don't know. A while, probably, unless I can figure out where I'm supposed to be going; I'm sorry, flutterby," she said softly, touching the proto gently for a moment before peering around her, hoping to find the right direction just by looking.
Verdant had suggested a playdate between Rhian and Orpheus, with the addition of another Essentic of those given out at the ball.... that doctor who had talked about her in green? Something like that. Well, hopefully she wouldn't be too bothered by nausea on this little playdate - her morning sickness had finally started to show its head, and while it was fortunately rather mild, it was still evident. Rhian would benefit greatly from spending time with other Essentics her age, and it would give Faolan and Ziazan a break from the current baby of the family.
Now if only she could find that building. . .

"Oh!" Verdant blushed quite vividly where Dorian had kissed him as he was cheerfully brought into the doctor's home. He'd almost forgotten how much more charisma Dorian had than even himself. He couldn't remember blushing this hard- well, except that time at the ball, but... well... oh, dear...
Orpheus stared at the muffin, its delicious aroma wafting around his head so enticingly. He looked up at Verdant, then at Marius, then down at the muffin before pecking away half of it and swallowing like a baby bird. He licked his lips(?) and chirped happily at the other young Essentic. "Daink you, little brah! Dat was delicious, brah! Big Brudder, it tastes good! Tweet tweet!"
Verdant looked at Marius with a bit of fascination, then turned to Dorian with a grin. "I'm well-loved by your liege, am I? I'm flattered, Dorian. I'm doing very well, actually; thanks for asking! You're looking pretty damn good yourself, if you don't mind my saying so. Seriously, that choker is beautiful; I'll need to get me one of those sometime. Oh, and I'm quite alright. We ate a little while ago so that the landlady wouldn't make us eat her cooking." Verdant smiled warmly as he took off his jacket and the messenger bag. It was too hot and the sweater made his muscles look even more defined; why hide them when it'd taken lots of work to get them the way they were?
"Oh, I finally managed to get a new demo for you. Little brah, get it for me, will ya?" Orpheus nodded, rummaged through the bag, and flew out with a small CD wrapped in black tissue paper. He gave it to Marius and chirped happily.
"Dat's Big Brudder's singing, little brah! I helped him out wid da screams." Yes, he was quite proud of his screams; they were almost as shrill as Cove Reber's, who happened to be the lead singer of Saosin. Verdant had explained this to him during one of their music lessons.
"So, Ellandra's not here yet? Farstep is pretty far from here. I hope she isn't lost..."

Unfortunately, Ellandra was lost, albeit unknowingly right outside the building that was her destination. Rhian was getting fidgety in her basket, and the brunette couldn't blame her - staying still for so long was hard for the butterfly Proto, and even harder when she had to curl up as much as she did. "I'm sorry, flutterby, I'm sure we'll find the apartment........... soon..... urk....."
Right at the worst possible time, her morning sickness struck and the brunette flailed around for some place that might have a bathroom. She needed one and needed one now! 'Why now, babies? Why now?!?'
Rhian made a concerned noise from the basket. "Oh no, the babies are making you sick? We have to find the playdate-place!"

Dorian nodded with a small pout/frown. He had to agree with Verdant. Not only did he look absolutely gorgeous himself, but he was a little worried about Miss Ellie. Little did he know that she was outside freaking out. And pregnant. Very pregnant. But since he didn't know this he took the cd from Orpheus gracefully and sauntered over to his collection, placeing it gingerly on top of the stack so he'd be sure to listen to it asap. Biting his lip, he wondered where Ellie was. He didn't want her to get lost, or have something bad happen to her.
He looked over to Ver with a small smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. He got antsy when women were missing. It reminded him too much of Marianna just not coming home one evening and then finding out that---no, he wouldn't go there. He could feel the tears welling up already. Blinking them away he pushed some hair behind his ear and sat down, holding his hands in his lap and bobbing his left leg up and down at a thousand miles per hour in a nervous twitch.
"I hope Ellie's alright...." he commented finally, after Marius had drifted over and brought a calming cup of chamomile tea to his master. Dorian smiled nervously at the little companion. He always seemed to know exactly what Dorian needed and when.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~IN TEH LOBBEH~~~~~~~~~
The doorman to Dorian's huge apartment building was watching a woman closely. She seemed really sick, and it was bothering his better concience. Looking towards the manager at the front desk, he got the 'wave' that meant 'go ahead, can't have the riff raff dying on our doorstep', and he rushed outside to help the poor woman. Putting a hand on her back and looking at her worriedly, he leaned over and tried to usher her to the building.
"Mam? Are you okay? Do you need help finding someone on this side of town? You really should come in, there's a good doctor that lives in this building. I can take you to him right now if you need me to," he said in a rushed manner, all the while ushering her inside to the air conditioning and all around nicer surroundings. Waving to the manager, the woman at the desk just raised her eyebrows and nodded. If Mr.Cromwell was in his apartment, he'd have no problem handling a pro bono case that just happened like this. Taking her to the elevator, he pushed the 19th floor button and held tight onto Ellandra as they were zoomed up. It only took a minute and a half, but it felt like way too long.
Coming to Dorian's door, the man banged on it. "Mr. Cromwell! There's a woman out here who looked like she was ready to pass out in front of the building, could you do a quick check on her so we can see if we need an ambulence or not?" he called.
Inside the room, Dorian perked up and ran to his door, gasping in suprise and horror when he saw it was Ellie that the poor woman ready to pass out. Nodding to the doorman, he shooed him off. "Yes, yes, we're fine. I'll take care of her. She's the woman I'm waiting for today anyways. Go on downstairs and if the situation escelates, we'll bring her down and call the hospital." he advised, making sure the man couldn't see inside his house to see the floating Marius looking worriedly at Ellandra and the curious little Orpheus. Glancing down at her bag, he swore he could see the edges of Rhian's wings. The doorman was shooed away quickly and Ellandra was ushered inside and Dorian promptly laid her down on the couch.
Looking to Marius with an all-buisness look he grunted. "I need a lukewarm damp cloth, twelve cc's of saline, a needle, and a bottle of......let's go low dosage fenegren. The smallest amount we have, Marius." he demanded, falling totally into his cold, buisness-like self when he was working. He all but ignored Orpheus and Verdant now and Marius scurried off into the back rooms of the apartment to get what his master wished of him. It was their first big diagnosis together, and he wanted to do well. Taking a flashlight out of a nearby table-drawer he forced Ellandra to open her eyes and examined them, then grumbled as he couldn't find his stethescope and just put his head to her stomach, applying soft pressure to it and hearing how much it was churning. He frowned, looking down at her seriously.
"Ellie.....I need you to tell me what's wrong, and if you're taking any medication so we don't cross things. Marius is getting you some saline solution, it's for severe dehydration. Have you been drinking water lately? Are there any extenuating circumstances or changes in health that could cause such a violent stomach reaction?" he grilled. He didn't know she was pregnant yet, since she wasn't really showing. It was a bump, but not big enough for him to notice in such a rushed state.
Ellandra couldn't tell up from down at the moment; she had been caught in a whirlwind of nausea and panic that was only complicated when she was all but carried inside a building and up to an apartment - which oddly enough turned out to be her destination in the first place. She hadn't even managed to sort out what exactly had happened, let alone gain enough coherency to explain to the doctor that she was fine, it was just the twins letting their presence be known.
"U-um.... I..." she stumbled out, unable to say anything more coherent or useful, for the moment at least. Not with her mind reeling and stomach churning, anyway. Fortunately, she didn't have to say anything, as her giant butterfly of an Essentic quickly unfurled and (as was becoming something of a habit for the developing Proto), exploded out of the basket in a flurry of silken wings.
Fluttering around in circles a few times to stretch her wings out - it was so uncomfortable keeping them furled up and wrapped around her much smaller body - Rhian took stock of her surroundings and, despite wanting to greet her recognized friends and the Essence-pull of this other Essentic that she hadn't yet become acquainted with - flew over to the couch, staying out of Dorian's way while being within her owner-mother's line of sight.
"Changes in health? Do the babies count as that, Ellandra? I think so..." the butterfly said, not bothering to wait for the brunette to try and gather her wits a bit before continuing, "Ellandra was hoping the babies wouldn't make her sick today but I guess they did anyway."
Verdant frowned, not all that noticeably, but Orpheus could tell something was bothering him. After giving Dorian the CD, he flew over to his brother, wrapped himself around Verdant's neck like a scarf and quietly asked what was wrong. He hoped nothing had happened to Ellandra, but he was also concerned with the expression on the other man's face. He had been on the verge of tears; Verdant had told him that crying usually meant that someone was sad or hurt. "Is fancy brah alright? He don't look happy now and neider does Big Brudder..."
"It's nothing, sweetheart. I'll explain later, alright?" Verdant hummed nervously while Marius gave Dorian a cup of tea, chamomile, it seemed. He was going to respond to Dorian's comment when a cacophonous banging on the door made Verdant jump and Orpheus yelp like a wounded puppy. The little color Verdant had drained from his face when he got up and saw that the woman who needed medical attention was none other than Ellandra. He nearly lunged forward to help her in when Dorian began attending her and giving his young Essentic instructions. He stood out of Dorian's way, feeling absolutely useless as he watched the doctor work. He was so focused on Ellandra that he nearly screamed in fright when Rhian burst out of the basket he'd just now noticed his friend had been carrying. Then he heard the bit about the babies making her sick- again. That did it.
With all the grace one would expect from the nereid, Verdant groaned a bit before passing out and falling down hard onto the very comfortable couch behind him. Seriously, it was quite a sight to see a guy like him turn whiter than alabaster and collapse onto the couch like that. Orpheus flitted away as his big brother fainted and worriedly chirped and whimpered. He wanted to say hello to Rhian, but this was probably not the best time. "Big Brudder...?"
Dorian managed a soft smile towards Ellandra since finding out from the ever-happy Rhian that Ellie was pregnant. Pregnant! One of the people he knew! It made him glad he was a doctor, so he could maybe help along the way. He didn't know if Ellie's husband would appreciate the extra help, but he'd try to give it anyways. But for now, he had a pregnant lady on his hands, and then a soft 'thump' hit his ears and he turned to see Verdant completely passed out on his couch.
He groaned and put his palm to his face, running it up his face and through his hair with an exhausted sigh. Two patients now? He shrugged his shoulders though as Marius came back with the saline, damp cloth, needle, tubes, and the small pill bottle of fenegren. Laying things out on the extra white cloth he'd brought, Marius went to hover around Verdant. Blinking with suprise, he went to the kitchen and got a cold spray bottle that Dorian used to mist his bonsai tree, and then squirted Verdant in the face with frigid misty water.
"Verdant sir? Wake up please?" he asked shyly, not used to commanding anyone else. Looking to Orphy, his mysterious ear/hair pieces twitched in anxiety.
Dorian on the other hand, was doing much better with Ellandra. He'd taken the fenegren and taken out two pills and was propping Ellie up with a pillow. Looking to her sternly, he bit his lip.
"Ellie, listen to me, love. I know your stomach is beyond upset right now, but you need to take these. I won't use the saline and the needle right at this moment, because we'll try and get water into you after you take the medication. But you NEED to take it or we're going to have to poke you, use the saline, and then go to the hospital where they will keep you in a bed for at least the rest of the day. I don't think anyone wants that, especially since little Rhian needs a way to get home again, and Ver and I don't want you to experience any complications with the children." he consoled, putting on his 'bedside manner' attitude that was gentle, yet pressing at the same time. It was important that she take it, for the babies sake. She was nauseous and probably a little dehydrated and disoriented, so she needed it.
Verdant came to when Marius kindly squirted the nymph's face with freezing water. He never was a deep sleeper, even when he passed out. He awoke with a small yelp and looked around to find that Ellandra was still being helped by Dorian. He looked down and saw that Marius was still holding the squirt bottle and raised his hands defensively.
"No more! I'm okay now!" He wasn't used to all the things that came with pregnancy; he thought that the babies were sick and in turn making poor Ellandra sick.
Orpheus whistled happily and flicked Marius with his tail affectionately. "You're helpful, little brah! I wanna be helpful too! What can I do, little brah?"
Verdant smiled at Ellandra and nodded his head. "Dorian's right. The best thing you can do right now is just do as Dorian says. He's the doctor here, you know. If what he says can help keep your babies healthy, I'd do what he says."
Ellandra nodded softly, trying to quell her nausea enough to take the pills at least. She honestly thought her stomach would settle down on its own, but if this would help it to do so faster then by all means she'd take the medicine. Hoping she wouldn't just throw the pills right back up, she carefully took them. "I- i'm sorry..." she apologized, both for potentially derailing the shopping trip and for unwillingly becoming something of a burden and a worry to her companions.
Meanwhile, Rhian watched over her wner-mother worriedly, flicking her antennae around. "Can I help somehow? Please?" The butterfly didn't want to be a bother, but she so desperately wanted Ellandra to feel better that she was very torn about what to do.
Dorian shook his head as Ellandra apollogized, stroking her hair fondly and not realizing he was giving her the warm gesture in the slightest. It was something he'd always done with Marianna, when she'd tried to apollogize for things, and he found himself saying the same old mantra he'd always given her.
"You've got nothing to be sorry for, pet. As long as you put a smile on that pretty face of yours, you're forgiven," he smiled, blinking in mild confusion afterwards at himself for saying what he'd used to say so long ago. He'd have to be careful around Ellandra. She was too sweet, too innocent....too much like Marianna. If he slipped up and forgot himself around her, he wouldn't ever forgive himself. Wiping some of the hair away from her face and trying to gain some composure again, Dorian fluffed a pillow behind her neck and smiled up at the little flutterby. Nodding, he stood up and tickled Rhian under her chin with a small chuckle.
"Of course you can, little one. It's going to take a minute or so for Mummy's stomach to settle, but could you go with Marius into the kitchen and knock down something off one of the top shelves for him? He's not quite tall enough yet, even though he can reach the lower shelves. He'll point out what it is, then bring it back and you can give it to her, alright?" he smiled, nodding to Marius, whom softly pet the tip of one of Rhian's wings, and drifted into the kitchen, humming softly as he went. Yes, Marius was going to turn out to be one of the 'sensitive types' Dorian supposed as he watched the little guy go. Ah well. All the better for when Dorian had his mini-breakdowns. Upon thinking that, he nervously checked the desk by the window, making sure the drawer was still securely locked. Didn't want anyone peeking at anything they shouldn't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marius on the other hand, had nodded to Verdant when he'd said it was enough to wake him. Looking to Verdant, he tried to be progressive and find a way for Orpheus to be helpful without being in the way. He was picking up Dorian's slyness at an alarming rate, no matter how naturally sweet and sedate the proto seemed. Thinking a moment, he nodded to Orpheus and pointed at Ellandra.
"Maybe.....big brother could sing or hum for Miss Ellandra until the medicine works? It might also help relax Master Dorian too...I'm sure he was a little worried...." the proto drifted off, catching Dorian's glance to the desk drawer that was locked before stroking Rhian's wing and beckoning her to come follow orders. He hoped that Dorian didn't need what was in that drawer anytime soon. He'd seen the doctor open it in desperation one night, and had subsequently passed out with a bottle of rum in his lap on the couch.
But, he knew what his master wanted him to get anyways. It was the honey and sugar on the top shelf. Meandering into the kitchen and looking up at it ruefully, he sighed. He hoped he was going to grow into something taller eventually. He didn't like being able to get everything for Dorian BUT the things on the very top shelves of the cabinets. If he was correct in his assumptions, Dorian wanted him to make a sugar/honey/milk mixture. Milk wasn't the best thing on a queezy stomach, but it would suprisingly help her feel better, and the sugar would make the medication speed up in her system.

"Oh... it..... would have passed anyway, it usually does," Ellandra said, a blush gracing her face at the attention she was being given - and at having gotten sick. "I - I suppose.... the walk was just a little more than I expected it to be," she added, trying to relax and feeling ashamed.
Rhian nodded, flicking her antennae as she hurried to the kitchen with Marius. "What do I need to get?" She asked, curious and ever-eager to help.
