It was 9pm yesterday evening when I was awoken by a loud banging on my door, I had fallen asleep on my sofa while watching the tv. I stood up, rubbing my eyes, the knocking had stopped but I proceeded to the door, as I opened it carefully I was stunned to see a small basket with a young infant, no older than a couple of days, with a little light blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes, she looked up at me and I noticed a piece of paper pinned to the blanket surrounding the infant, it read;

Please look after my baby, she is so sweet and innocent and deserves the best that anyone can give her. She is not meant to be with me, but as I walked past you earlier I knew that this was where she truely belongs.
I will love her forever

I looked down again at the infant, picked up the basket and brought her into the house, I live alone with only my chihuahua, Tinks, for company, but I am self sufficient and am at home most of the time, I thought long and hard, I could just take the infant to nursery where it could be adopted by a nice family. I looked down again and decided that for now, the best option was to let the infant rest. I brought her into my bedroom and placed the little basket beside my bed, made sure she was comfortable and warm before settling into my own bed with Tinks by my side.
I woke this morning at my usual time surprised that the infant had not woke me up once during the night, I smiled as I looked into the basket, she looked up at me and giggled, Lorelai I thought, that shall be her name! I smiled as right there and then I realised, I was now a mum!
