She was going to regret this. The whole, lets hang with that male for the night and totally get knocked up. For one, she was oblivious to the whole act of what ever that was, breeding. She never listened to her mothers warnings and teachings about such a thing-sure she sat and listened like her sisters did but-it went in one ear and out the other.
But now she knew she had done it. She was starting to see the rounding of her belly and when her mother asked her, she confirmed it. She was carrying young. She was devistated. She would no doubt bring black cubs into the world and bring them the same fate as she.
She was laying a small creek that ran through the lands. Her belly was submerged in the muck, in her attempt to conceal her growing girth.

A soft blue figure padded down to the river, thirst burning in her throat. Gaze turned inward, she was mostly unaware of the world around her, the only driving force right now that dryness. But then, she kind of always felt dry. She knew no one would believe her, no one liked it when she talked about strange things, but if she could have, Izumi would have lived her life inside water of some kind. She stumbled clumsily as she reached the edge of the water, pausing before plunging into it so it lapped up her sides, soaking her stomach and legs. A rough murr escaped her as she bent to drink, finally focusing on reality as she soothed her parched throat.
Life was so... hard edged. Rough and sharp and unpleasant. It was part of why she so preferred her dreams to the real thing. At least water, even though it was cold, felt pleasant. Named for it, she felt a strong bond to water, a sort of kinship that, again, no one would have cared to hear about.
A darkness down the stream drew her attention and she blinked owlishly at it, frowning as she brought into focus the figure of a lioness sprawled in the water. Curious, she sloshed her way down to the other female, bending over her with a concerned, but disconnected, expression.
"Are you hurt?"

Mawu lifted her head slightly to watch the blue lioness approach and fill her thirst. She did not say a word until she was spoken to, just watched with solemn purple eyes. She felt her stomach give a flip as a cub began to squirm and she was reminded that she was with cub. She felt her heart begin to hurt when the stranger spoke.
She lifted her head from the muck and gave a small, half hearted smile. "No... Do I look like I am in pain?" She asked, though she wasn't sure if she wanted to hear the answer or the truth for that matter. Her grey tufted tail twitched as she shifted, unknowingly revealing her bloated stomach.
"No... I'm not hurt." She said in an almost dream like state

The blue adolescent stared at the black female for a long moment, water rushing around her four paws before she blinked and turned her head away.
"Oh. Good." She said, absentmindedly. The question made her turn back through, begging an answer from her. "Well, um... people don't usually sleep in a stream, you know? At least, I think they don't..." She frowned, suddenly unsure. Izumi never paid much attention to what others were doing, preferring to be day-dreaming. Of course, her visions didn't help her stay real ground either...
"Well, um... enjoy your nap, or whatever it is you're doing, I guess." She said, a little offhandedly, and started to slog towards the shore, pausing there to delicately shake off each paw and her tail to rid them of the clinging wetness. The black lioness was nearly forgotten the moment blue paws hit dry dirt, with so little to hold Izumi's interest. She hardly cared that the other was pregnant, and if she wasn't hurt... well, then it wasn't her duty to give her aid, was it? Who knew why others slept in a rushing stream, in the chill of the shadows? Most didn't understand Izumi either, and she was alright with leaving it like that.

Mawu felt a bit disconnected staring at the pretty blue lioness. She shifted and stood, her large belly hanging below her. She waddled to the side of the bank and shook off her paws too, though her belly still dripped. She was trying to cool down actually and it worked pretty well, and it wasn't good for her babies to get cold. She sat down on the bank and began to groom, still a solumn look on her face.
She lifted her head and saw the lioness start to leave, and she for one would like to talk more. "Who happens to be your mother?" She asked, wanting to keep the conversation going. "I don't think I have met you before." She added. She flicked the grey tuft from her eyes, tail tucking over her paws. She didn't want to be alone.

Izumi had that wide-eyed, blinking look again when the lioness called to her, wondering at someone who would pay more than just passing attention to her. Her head tilted at the question and she stopped to think before she answered.
"Tejasvi'Nila." She said finally, half turning back so she wasn't speaking over her shoulder. "Kianga is my second mother. I've never met you, I'm sure of that. Who is your mother?" The polite questions deserved a return, an exchange of courtesies. She'd told her heritage, now it was the other's turn.
"My name is Izumi." Yes, it was good manners to offer your name to another, and with a mother that was the head of her clan, Izumi knew she needed to pay close attention to the rules. Not that they were all that interesting, really, but it was easier than having someone yell at you all the time. Sure, this female might be only a shikar-i with her black pelt, but Izumi herself was only a Gasht. Politeness never hurt anyone, and would forestall problems.

Mawu never left a chance to make friends. She smiled widely and waddled over so that she was closer to the lovely blue lioness, her purple eyes shown in her joy. She puffed a little, sitting down with her very rounded belly. "My Mother is Koi. She is cousins to queen Usha! I am Mawu... " She said. Her mother had not met the lioness of her life-but only had her father whom she loved none the less.
"Hello Izumi! I am sorry if your first impression was horrible-I am just so miserable!" She said sitting down and putting a paw to her rounded belly. "I just get so hot, being that my pelt is black and I am with cub." She added with a chuckle.

The blue adolescent blinked for a moment at Mawu, then rushed to respond, trying to keep herself in the right frame of mind to talk with someone.
"Don't worry about it. Who am I, to judge you?" She said softly, slanting a glance at the other's stomach where it bulged with cubs. "I see. I suppose that would make anyone hot, really. And laying in the cool water is a very practical solution. Nothing to be sorry for."
It was odd... she so rarely had conversations with anyone, or even said this much to them. It was... actually kinda nice. She wasn't really lonely, but occasional company tended to make everything as a whole nicer.
"So, um... do you do that often?" Izumi really didn't know what to say to her now, what to use to carry the conversation. She just didn't have enough practice at this sort of thing.

Mawu really appreciated that the lioness was standing and talking to her. She needed to talk to someone who was not family, who was unbiased. She sat so that her front legs had to be spread a bit, so that her protruding belly could be comfortable. 'Yeah. It works well.... and it calms down the cubs... they kick something frantically sometimes... especially in the ribs..." She said, giving her side a poke.
She lifted her head. "What... the cub thing or... laying it the water. Actually, the pregnancy is a first... the water thing is-almost a recent thing. I am glad to have found it. My mother Koi, she never would have done something like this, because it would cause her orange pelt to get all dirty... but I am so dark, it doesn't bother me.

Izumi blinked and perked up as Mawu spoke, her interest finally seized.
"The cubs... kick?" She asked, finding such a thing hard to believe. Not that she knew much about cubs or pregnancy... but it seemed unlikely that something inside of you would... move around. Food didn't move around inside of you, and that's all she had to compare it to. "That's silly, how could they kick?"
It took a lot to break her away from her dreaming entirely, but Mawu had managed to do it. This conversation had taken a far more interesting turn than she had expected, and she was almost... enjoying it. She'd never really thought about the whole motherhood thing. That always came after one found one's mate, and then a male to... do whatever it was. She'd had enough trouble just thinking about being with a mate that the actual having of cubs had been more like a myth or story than a reality.
But... well, here Mawu was, displaying her very real belly full of... supposedly... cubs. It raised all sorts of question in Izumi, and she was rather eager to have someone who could answer them without making her feel foolish. After all, one could ask things of a shikar-i that one just didn't ask one's rawal mother.

Mawu giggled. "Of course they kick. They wriggle something horrid too and sometimes I think they kick one another and make each other kick, feels like a bunch of wiggly fish in my womb." She laughed. "They use their legs I suppose. Even though they aren't out in the world their legs work I suppose... though I can't be sure.." She looked down at her rounded belly and sighed.
Mawu was a bit shocked that a lovely blue lioness like this one hadn't ever had cubs. One would think that she was a suitable female to males, all bright and beautiful versus Mawu's black. Mawu had to woo an outsider to impregnate her even, how low. She sighed.
"It's a strange but wonderful thing.. and I never thought i'd experience it being of my rank..." She looked down shyly

The blue lioness shuddered at the thought of having the feeling of something... wriggling inside of her stomach. She made a face before she could stop it, smoothing the expression into one of embarrassment as she shuffled a paw.
"Sorry... it just doesn't sound all that pleasant. I don't know how you can stand it, the way you describe it. I'm not sure I want to have cubs, anyway... so I guess I won't have to worry about it for a while at least." She shrugged loosely, her tail twitching. "Was it... pleasant? Making the cubs? Was the male nice to you, and caring?" Her voice dropped as she asked the questions, her eyes on her toes with a soft, dreamy sort of look. Of course she knew the basics of how cubs were made, she wasn't completely out of it, but the whole relationship between a male and a female was confusing. Being an adult now, she'd had to consider what most thought was her duty to the pride. But... males were a mystery still, and not something she'd ever had to deal with before.
And in her dreams, secretly, she saw a handsome male that wooed her with all his skill, cared for her and loved her with every part of his being, and they were together for all of their lives... Could such a male exist, or was it just like her other dreams.
