Origin Myth

Long ago at the beginning of the universe there was only Chaos, a god of destruction who had within himself the ability to create and to destroy. He made many things, but he could never overcome his own destructive impulses long enough to let them thrive. For a long time he occupied his time with his endless cycle, but in due time loneliness stole into his heart and he decided that he would have a wife; and from his wish was born the beautiful Crystal Goddess. She was a vision, her skin white and run through with silver swirls, her hair the color of purest snow, and her eyes lagoon blue.

Together she and Chaos gave birth to the planet of Kadowei, but it was an empty barren place. Chaos sought to destroy it, but the Crystal Goddess convinced her husband that if they were to create things to live on their planet then perhaps he could occupy his self in that way. So she and Chaos created the gods of Earth and Sky, twin boys with the black eyes of their father and the silvery tattoos of their mother; they occupied their parent’s time with many antics.

Still, Kadowei was empty and barren, despite the four gods who watched over it. There needed to be more people, and so the Crystal Goddess once more gave birth, this time to the twins, Sun and Moon, beautiful girls with teal blue eyes who could control light and darkness, fire and water. Kadowei now was home to six gods, but there was no one for them to rule over. The planet was changing, with the additions of new gods, but there was no life yet and so there was very little for them to do.

Sun, like her father, Chaos, was as destructive as she was beautiful, but Moon was gentle and calm, and at her suggestion they had their brother, Earth, and their father create the World Tree. The World Tree was the largest tree that had ever been created by Chaos, and from its branches it bore fruit that contained all the races and animals that would inhabit the planet. Once its purpose was finished, the Tree dissolved into a thousand little seeds that brought forth deep green plant life.

The many different subspecies of humans, the furry and almost catlike Basqirra, the delicate looking and brightly colored Siotacha, the warrior Sanikailliya, the tiny and industrial Ouramiya, and the highly intelligent Saorill were all races born of the World Tree, and they populated the planet with many and there was a great utopia on Kadowei.

Yet Chaos was not satisfied, and he planted in the hearts of the higher races an urge to kill more animals than they needed and to ravage the land. Earth, hurt by his father's mistreatment, retreated deep into the center of a mountain range so that he could escape from the harshness of Chaos's love. For many years Kadowei was ravaged, and even when Chaos pulled his hand from their minds, the people continued on, not knowing that their planet had a voice.

Gentle Moon, so unlike her fiery twin, felt compassion for her brother's plight, and she decided that if no one else would, then she would stop the people. She took from those animals killed the souls of those who felt the strongest kinship, and then she selected from the people those who felt the most compassion. Among the men selected, however, was a man that her mother, the Crystal Goddess, had blessed beyond all others because he was everything that Chaos was not. Moon did not know of her mother's love for this man, she only knew that among those selected he was the most handsome and kind.

She took the souls of the animals and she combined them with those of the people selected, and by this merging she created the Maolna race, a race of shape-shifters who could speak the language of the animals and hear Earth's pleas.

Grateful for her blessings, the man, now known as Wolf, courted gentle Moon, and together they bore many children. Yet the Crystal Goddess was enraged by what her daughter had done, and so in her anger she took the cycle of life, death, and rebirth into her own hands and she killed the Moon. The Crystal Goddess then flung her child's body into Sky's arms so that he could lead her in her funeral procession for all of Kadowei to see; and he did so until the body of gentle Moon was nothing but a shining white skeleton. Struck to her very core with pain, Sun killed herself as well and gave her body over to her brother so she could follow after her twin forever, blazing eternally like a pheonix.

The Crystal Goddess tried to get Wolf to return to her, but he would only cry a song of mourning, and in her anger she forced him into his animal form so that he had to remain there, able to mate with no other, only able to teach his song to others. With only anger and pain left within her heart, the Crystal Goddess took her daughter's souls within her, so that she could release them back into the world at her own leisure at a later time so that they could bring about the end of Kadowei.

Story

User Image

It has been thousands of years since the Maolna race has faded into myth alone, and all the races of Kadowei remember about them is that they are supposed to be shape shifters. In fact, even the story of the Crystal Goddess and her daughters has faded entirely from memory; the only thing the people of Kadowei remember of their mythology is that the World Tree created them.

In the thousand years that have passed cities have grown from the dust and civilizations have fallen, leaving behind only ruins. Many races are highly technologically advanced, while others cling to the old ways or are deeply involved in nature and the spiritual. Many things have changed.

In the last few centuries the animals of Kadowei have begun to become possessed by strange crystalline structures that cause them to grow larger and to become extreamly violent. Because of this a new job occupation has become quite popular: the adventurer. They travel the world helping others reach their destinations, or they wipe out particular monsters who target certain cities, making the world safe for everyone.

Reinvestigating the old temples and ruins has become a thriving business for the adventurer, since those old places are over run with monsters and the people of Kadowei have begun to understand that they are forgetting their pasts, those with skill in the way of fighting are being hired often for such ventures; though they often go on their owns, ruins are often full of old treasures.

Setting

User Image

The continent of Talard is the largest of all the continents of Kadowei, it also has the most diverse population, holding all of the races of Kadowei in one place. It is also the richest in old ruins and treasure. Many of the world's adventurers come for Talard, most notably the country of Rathbhin.

Hikamitsu (Hika-mit-sue):
An island nation, each island with a different climate. They hold a combination of ancient traditions at the same time they're the most technologically advanced of all the countries. They are also have the most diverse of all the populations, many species and different races all living there because of their diverse climate.

Muirmor (Muyr-more):
This country borders the sea and Hikamitsu, as well as Rathbhin, so they have easy access to the islands. The have a mild climate, though because of the fact they live against the coast they tend to have more unpredictable weather. Though technologically advanced they make their buildings aesthetically pleasing to the eye and they are more centered on beauty than anything else.

Rathbhin (Ra-veen):
This country is mostly mountainous and is bordered by the desert, the snowy region, and by Muirmor. Its climate is mild but generally cooler than Muirmor's is due to the fact that most of their country is higher up. Because its further inlaid it has more problems with monsters; because this fact, more adventurers come from Rathbhin than any other country.

Ouramiya (Ew-ya-me-ah):
The name of the desert, named after its native inhabitants, the Ouramiya. It’s very hot and sandy and is almost over run with monsters. There are no permanent cities, but there are ruins that are proof of an ancient civilization who did have permanent settlements here. It is bordered on all sides by mountains, creating an almost bowl-like formation.

Khonsalach (Con-sa-lock):
The name of the ancient country of the Maolna, hidden on the other side of the mountains that border all sides of Ouramiya. The mountains cutting Khonsalach off from the rest of Talard are infested with powerful monsters which, combined with the fact that the mountain range is the tallest in all of Kadowei, has kept the inhabitants of Talard from discovering their ancient neighbors. The Maolna have no advanced technology and they live closely with nature, making homes from carved stone or in trees. Because of how diverse they are each different subspeices of Maolna has it's own capitial city and royal family, the head of each meet in Khonsalach's main capital city each year or whenever needed to discuss business; they are the Maolna Council.

Character Skeleton

Now here's the slightly more difficult part, I'm afraid...

Remember, each race has certain limitations and strengths, so it's impossible to be all powerful.

They come in many sizes, shapes, and colors depending on their location. They can live in any climate and they aren't particularly strong in anything, though they have the ability to grow in magic and strength, they are fast but not that fast.

Muirmorese (Muyr-more-ese):
Tend to have lighter colored hair and more olive toned skin, but more subdued colored eyes (like browns, pale blues, or grays), they have British accents, they also seem more refined in speech and clothing, their country is focused more on knowledge and beauty than on strength. They live along the coast.

Rathbhinish (Ra-veen-ish):
Tend to have darker colored hair and tanned skin, but shockingly colored eyes (like sapphire blues, golden browns, or emerald greens), they have more relaxed speech and manner, but they focus more on strength than on beauty, but knowledge is also important. Their country has more monsters than Muirmor does. They live inland, against the mountains

Deshret (De-sh-ret):
They have darker colored hair, in blacks, dark browns, or sometimes deep reddish brown. Their eyes are browns, blacks, or dark grays, and their skin ranges from golden tanned to a deep milk chocolate. They focus more on the spiritual, since the world they live in is very harsh, but thanks to an alliance with their fellow sand dwellers they've remained very technologically advanced despite their isolation on the other side of the mountains. They have more monsters than even Rathbhin, and their men tend to be rather built while their women are lean of build.

Hikamitsuians (Hika-mit-sue-ian):
There are two kinds of Hikamitsuian. Those with straight black hair, pale skin, slender to lean builds, and tilted brown eyes, and those with dark brown to black hair, tanned skin, lean to medium builds, and almond shaped brown eyes. The former live in moderate to cold climates, and the latter live in moderate to tropical climates. They are the most technologically advanced of all the countries, but they also hold strongest to traditions.

Other Races:

User Image

Basqirra (Bask-ee-ra):
Covered in thin fur, long ears, stripes and spots sometimes, fangs, claws, yellow or green eyes (rarely red), lean but muscular builds, they prefer snowy climates. They are powerful in magic and in strength, but they have set limits, they are also one of the fastest races. They age at a human rate.

Siotacha (Shitaka):
Human in body, but they have the slanted eyes in shocking colors and hair that’s also bright in color, their skin is tinged with odd colors to them and their slender and a bit too tall and skinny, their bodies kind of angular. They have pointed ears and are powerful in magic, but their bodies are relatively weak, though they are extremely fast. They prefer tropical climates. Who knows how they age? They all look young, but many have lived for a couple centuries.

Sanikailliya (Sa- nik- ai-ya):
They almost appear human except for their strangely shaped faces, almost as though they have muzzles. They're darker in skin color and taller and bulkier in build, they have ink black hair and eyes, with tails and ears like canines or felines, their nails are sharp and black like claws, they have paw like feet and they can only walk on their toes, prompting even the males to wear high heels. Despite how barbaric they sound they're very in tune with nature, they have average magic and great strength, their magic having a set limit and their strength having none, they have average speed. They prefer warmer climates. They age at half the rate humans do.

Ouramiya (Ew-ya-me-ah):
Small, compact, sandy brown in skin tone with reddish or brownish tinged hair and large bright golden eyes, their hair never grows beyond their shoulders, and they have large, almost bat like ears for dispersing heat. They're relatively weak strength and magic wise, but they more than make up for it with scientific advancements and the fact that they are the fastest of all races. They prefer desert climates, anywhere else being too cold. They only live for half the time humans do.

Saorill (Sayeryil):
Almost human except for their pointed ears, slanted eyes, and lean to slender body types. Skin color, eye color, and hair color depends on the region they live in. They are like humans as far as unlimited growth goes, though they are faster than humans are. No one knows how slowly they age.

Maolna (Maylna):
They are a race of shape shifters, able to take the forms of certain animals, only they lack the crystals or spikes that mark monster kind and they normally come in sizes even larger than the average monster. They can become possessed by the same crystal structures that turn normal animals into monsters, however, which causes them to grow even larger. They can also turn into almost human forms, but those are marked by what type of shape shifter they are. They are often marked with tattoos, and some species are mistaken for being a cross between a human and Basqirra or Sanikailliya. The royal family has tattoos on their faces. Wolves, bats, birds, and other family oriented or pack minded animals are the type that the Maolna are mixed with. They are stronger and faster than humans, but they have very little magic.

Name: Malcholar Edane D'Vario. Called by Edane (Eh-dane)
Title:
Age: 32 years old.
Occupation: Adventurer/Historian.
Race: Human-Deshret/Muirmorese
Gender: Male
Preferance: Pure heterosexual.
Element: Wind.
Strength: Malcholar is A-Typical to his people. His strength isn't all too great in comparison. He can lift perhaps one-hundred and twenty pounds.
Speed: What Malcholar lacks in arm strength he makes up for in speed. He can run and react 1.4 times faster than the average human, when not assisted by magic.
Magic: Malcholar knows no magic.
Weapon: Malcholar's main weapon changes based on his destination, but he typically carries a shotgun resembling today's riot shotguns. He keeps this for the hallways and small rooms of tombs and ruins. As a secondary weapon he keeps an ornate shortsword strapped to his left side. The sword's blade is about 30 centimeters, and the scabbard is wrapped in black leather. The pommel is fashioned into the head of an unknown bird of prey. One eye is set with a sapphire, the other a ruby. The hilt is made of silver, and the crossguard extends over the wielder's hands, fashioned into wings. Once drawn the blade shimmers, as if the air around it is being distorted.
Personality: Malcholar E. D'Vario is a rather calm, collected man. He speaks in a blunt, matter-of-fact manner. Malcholar has a tendency to give advice even when it's not needed or wanted. He is overly sarcastic, sardonic, and pessimistic. It is because of this that he rarely has a traveling companion for longer than a couple of weeks. Though because he travels a lot, several people have joined up with him on more than one occasion.
While he is pessimistic, Malcholar is also oddly nonchalant. Though e speaks of horrible things that will inevitably happen to him (and his companions) It doesn't seem to phase him. It is almost as if he is immune to excitement. Aside from this, he is very knowledge-able from his travels. He doesn't get along with religious fanatics, and will usually ridicule someone preaching to him.
A final thing of note is that Malcholar does not use vehicles to travel. Rather, he walks to his destination. He enjoys taking things slow, and believe vehicles just rush the scenery, beauty, and experience. This too is an irritation for any traveling companions of his.
Bio: Malcholar's mother was a Muirmorese adventuruer, and his father was a Deshret nomad. Once his mother had retired she fell quickly into the Deshret ways, and by the time Malcholar was seven the only difference he could see between her and a typical desert inhabitant was her looks. As time passed, and Malcholar matured into a teenager it became evident he was not a typical member of his community, the Calathran community. He did not work his muscles half as rigorously as the others youths his age. Also, he constantly questioned things about his people that not even the leaders knew. Not just who they were, by why they were who they were, and how they came to be this way.
It was also evident that Malcholar did not truly follow the Deshret beliefs. These differences all led up to his exile. It was decided by his own father, much to his mothers protest, after Malcholar had punched him. A very serious offense, especially since he was already at odds with most of the community. His father had once more been trying to push the beliefs of the Deshret onto him, and Malcholar finally snapped in irritation.
They gave him one day to gather what he would need to leave the desert. His mother gave him her old sword, and bid him farewell, by the time he was meant to leave she had accepted his exile. His father apologized, but would not go back on his decision. Thus, fifteen years ago Malcholar began adventuring. The first few years he spent wandering aimlessly across the continent, accepting odd jobs and monster-elimination work. It was only once he traveled with a man, Khalad, for several months that he once more found purpose. The two of them raided an old crypt, and inside found a tome hundreds of years old. It was unreadable, both because of decay, and the language it was written in, but it sparked an interest in Malcholar. It sparked a hunger for knowledge he had not known since his exile.
Malcholar began his life as a true adventurer then. Not to protect the weak, not for revenge against monsters, but for the pure quest of knowledge from a long dead time. In his many years of travel he has been to every races land several times. He also carries several books with him that he cannot read, written in the same tongue as the first one he found.
Over the years he has developed a fair amount of skill in firearms, and can hold his own against most monsters. Though, he still prefers to fight in a group, and not by himself. He spends most of his time near the cities of the Muirmorese. He not only prefers the climate, but the people as well. Though his looks stand out greatly among the elegance of his usual surroundings.
He hasn't so much gained renown as he has familiarity. Many towns have had him stay there, and many adventurers have traveled with him. He hasn't traveled in the desert since his exile though, and avoids it out of respect of his community's wishes. One of the few customs he has stuck to.
Description: Malcholar stands 5'10”, and has what would be considered a slender build for a Deshret. He has golden-tan skin, and his eyes are a cloudy light gray. He appears to be blind at first glance. His hair is light-brown in color. On the back of his right hand the word “Dai'n” is branded. It translates into Exile in the Deshret language, and was given to him on the last night as one of them.
On his body Malcholar wears a black vest, but no shirt underneath. On his legs he wears simple dark brown pants, made of some animal, or monster hide. Overtop his vest Malcholar wears a large dark leather jacket that falls to just above his knees, resembling a short trench coat. He wears it because his life in the desert has caused the other climates to chill him. This jacket also hides his short sword, which would instantly grab attention. He keeps his shotgun, or other weapon, slung over his right shoulder.

Name: Enya Wolfsbane
Age: 18
Occupation: Adventurer
Race: Human, though her exact country of origin is difficult to tell, she calls Rathbhin home.
Gender: Female
Preferance: Male
Element: Darkness and water
Strength: She's fairly strong, just over average
Speed: She's faster than average
Magic: She's very proficient in magic
Weapon: A pair of tiger claws
Personality: She’s calm and reserved, not prone to anger or outbursts, and she would rather run than face her problems or reveal her emotions. She’s very secretive and doesn’t often talk, but she’s a very loyal sort and extremely compassionate. She helps if she can, and if she can’t she’ll find someone who can. Unfortunately she keeps all of her problems inside, so if she’s planning anything people never find out until the last second. She likes to keep to herself, but she confides deeply in Fenrir, which is a habit that was started when she still believed he was a mere wolf and couldn't tell anyone else her secrets.
Bio: Found as a baby by the adventurer, Ruarc Wolfsbane, Enya and her twin, Anya, were taken into the Wolfsbane home and never knew they were adopted. Riley, their older adopted brother, took care of them after their mother and father died, but nothing was really the same. They went through the actions of daily life, but they were plotting revenge all the while. Ruarc had either been killed by a monster, or by a Muirmorese, and they went after the monster first. However, when they went after the monster they met the son of Sean, the Muirmorese who had been helping Ruarc during the mission that killed him. Caiden invited them to come with him and his Saoril friend, Niall, and they picked up other tag alongs along the way. They had many adventures with their friends, during which Enya saved Fenrir, who was possesed at the time by a crystal, and afterwards he followed her in the form of a wolf. Thinking he was only a wolf, she told him all her plans, and when he revealed himself when her small group managed to slip into Khonsalach, she decided she cared too much about him to be angry. When they reached the Maolna homeland and she saw that the Maolna could be possessed, she stayed behind with Fenrir to help his people defend themselves. She now helps Fenrir lead his small army who defend their home from the monsters, and since she knows how to free possesed Maolna she's quintesscencal to their plans; she occasionally crosses the border to hunt down possesed Maolna who can break through the monster barrier.
Description: Pale skin and short light brown hair that covers one of her glowing teal blue eyes. Her body is nearly covered with twining swirling black tattoos and smatterings of stars and crescent moon shapes. She wears black pants and thin leather armor under her oversized black clothing, she also has a long black cloak. She's fairly tall and slender, not really curvy, but she is very feminine looking when she doesn't wear her cloak.

Name: Kaledan Gen'bar Deckarison. He now goes by the name Rothmet.
Title:
Age: 26, looks to be around thirty.
Occupation: Former Airship Captain. Currently: Adventurer/Bandit hunter.
Race: Hikamitsuian/Rathbhinish
Gender: Male
Preferance: Doesn't have a homosexual bone in his body.
Element: Water/wind
Strength: He's as strong as the average human. His strength comes from his skill.
Speed: Average.
Magic: He knows a bit of wind-related magic, used to shift course if needed to on his old airship.
Weapon: Kaledan's weapon of choice is a sabre passed down to him by his father. It has a 32” blade, that curves only slight near the middle of the word. The blade is coated in a thind dust, made from crushed emeralds. The very edge of the sword is not touched by the dust, keeping it from taking away any of the sword's sharpness. When it is drawn the dust reflects the sunlight, casting thousands of tiny green beams of light around it. His second weapon appears to be more lethal than the blade though. While the blade is brilliant, the pistol he carries openly in a holster on his hip is the more lethal weapon of the two. Even though it is only a common semi-automatic.
Personality: Even now Kaledan's considered a perfect gentleman. Though, after his father's death he developed a brooding anger that could erupt at any time. On the outside he is considerate, he aknowledges someone for their hard work and service, pays for the meals of whoever's company he's in, he even turns in most of the people that he hunts down to the authorities, instead of killing them. His new name, “Rothmet”, has gained some small fame as a hunter of villains, shrouded in an aura of kindness that rivals his old name.
The kindness he expresses is often forced though. While he was still captain of the civilian transport “Eriadith” (The name of a plant that is said to bring fair weather on a journey) The before-mentioned properties had more meaning. Now however, he is faced with constant frustration, and his bouts of anger grow increasingly common. That, and the number of men that he kills has been increasing the past few months.
When Kaledan has an objective he ruthlessly pursues it. This was true even as captain of the Eriadith. He considers all other objectives that he pursues as a means to an end. That end is finding his father's killers. An elusive group of pirates that boarded his father's ship and killed him, the admiral.
Bio:Kaledan was born and raised literally in the air, flying in between one of the many islands of Hikamitsu. His father was an Admiral even then, doing escort missions for a number of important people over the continent. Kaledan began learning how to control his father's ship at the young age of six. Though, he wasn't able to do so until he turned twenty, which marked him as the youngest captain yet in history. His father taught him strict manners growing up, and this stuck throughout Kaledan's entire life.
Two years into his career life was running smoothly. The 5-minutes of fame that followed his early dubbing of captain had faded the year before. He received the news of his father's death while escorting a group of passengers to Barekain (Bare-eh-cane), a city on the coast of Muirmor. It shocked him almost as much as it shocked his mother, though he didn't let it show to his crew members. Kaledan didn't return home to console her or grieve though, he continued on with his life. Once more he had made the headlines, and he knew he wouldn't be able to hunt down the pirates while even that much fame surrounded him. His movements were probably being watched by them even then.
He lived another two years as captain. His frustration slowly building, along with a steak of anger that had never existed before. He only confided in his first mate and friend Bairn(Bay-urn), who at the end of Kaledan's last two years as captain would assist in “killing” him.
The official story is that pirates had snuck on while the crew was changing shifts and made their way to the captain room. When Kaledan had refused to give them any cargo or the ship the pirates short him, sending him right through his window to the ground almost 10,000 feet below. The pirates escaped after their leader radioed in an emergency and they left with the cargo intact. All of this was caught on film that captain Bairn refuses to release to this day.
In reality Kaledan shot out the window in his cabin and jumped. He used a number of high-priced emeralds that were packed with wind magic to slow his fall to non-lethal speeds. For a short amount of time Kaledan was truly flying, and at peace for the first time in two years.
After his landing Kaledan cut his hair raggedly, grew a short beard. When he reached the first neaby town on foot he died his hair black, and paid the barber into silence about his identity. Since that time he has been hunting down any criminals he can find, knowing that they are the best source of information about the group that killed his father. He has had no leads in two years.
Description: His short, well kept brown hair, and cleanly shaved face has been transformed the past two years. Now Kaledan's hair is black ,and falls to his neck, carrying a ragged appearance. His short black beard looks much the same way as his hair. His light-brown eyes now have an icy-blue color after he bought a pair of contacts to change his eye color. This causes most people to believe him to be a pure Rathbhin, though, because of his pale skin, he stands out. This is usually written off as having a Hikamitsuian somewhere in his blood, which is true. Though, he does not have their slanted eyes.
Typically Kaledan wears simple clothing. He dresses like an every day Rathbhin. He wears a simple faded brown cloak over a green tunic. On his leg is a pair of dark-green leggings, ending right above a pair of dark-brown leather shoes. He walks with the hood of his cloak thrown back, as well as with the cloak open, so that his weapons are always on display. This is the only thing that marks him as an adventurer about his appearance. Surely not a former captain of a well known civilian transport airship.

Name: Tatsuahi "Tatsu" Shiranui
Age: 24, though she appears 18
Occupation: Adventurer and researcher
Race: Hikamitsuian
Gender: Female
Preferance: Bisexual, but leans towars men
Element: Fire
Strength: Less than average
Speed: Above average
Magic: Highly proficient
Weapon: A gun resembaling a small hand-gun with a large ruby embedded in it powered by fire magic, it shoots fire bullets.
Personality: Tatsu is a very curious, tomboyish, woman with a taste for both knowledge and adventure. She can be sarcastic and crude at times, but she's extreamely loyal to people that she cares about. She's stubborn, bull-headed, and very determined, and stops at nothing once she sets a goal. She's very competitve and hot-headed, quick to temper, but also quick to shame over her actions. She never looks before she leaps and almost always rushes in without planning, yet she's utterly brilliant as a strategist and when inventing things.
Bio: Tatsu was born the youngest child of five, all of them boys. She got into many fights with her brothers growing up, and as a result of very little feminine influence she tends to act more masculine than feminine. Her mother, the only close female she ever knew, worked as a priestess, and only ever chastized Tatsu about her behaviour as far as tradition went, otherwise she could get away with anything that she wished. As a result she was practically spoiled, allowed to get away with anything, and she indulged herself with books, fighting, and whatever else her temper drew her way. Her father, an inventor, influenced Tatsu more so than anything else, because it was only while the two were working together that she felt like she really fit in.
At about age 13 her family was attacked by some possessed monsters, and though they were easily defeated by her brothers, Tatsu decided then and there that she would become strong enough to defend herself. Not long afterward she left home, training wherever she could and exploring any ruin she came across. She makes her living selling information and helping travelers.
Description: Tatsu has lightly tanned skin and short black hair that she wears in spikes, her build is slim and slender, a bit lithe, and she's fairly short even when compaired to others of her race. Her eyes are slanted and narrow and are colored jet black, her face is angular in nature, but slightly rounded, making her appear to be younger than she really is. She wears a pair of goggles on her head for when she's working, they're specially treated to block excess light but also to give her the ability to see in the dark. She wears a pair of brown, leather, knee high boots and a loose pair of black capri pants of a durable canvas material with traditional Hikamitsuian fire patterns woven in. She wears a long sleeved white cotton shirt with a hood, over which she wears a form fitting brown leather vest, always closed. She also has several belts to hold her items.

Name: Rhiannon Epona, called Rhia by her friends
Age: She appears to be around 25 years old, but is unsure of her exact age.
Occupation: Ecologist
Race: Saoril and Muirmorese
Gender: Female
Preferance: Male
Element: Water
Strength: Rhia has a high tolerance for pain and can endure for long amounts of time in varying conditions, but isn't stereotypically strong.
Speed: Rhia's speed is above average for a Saoril, but nothing remarkable.
Magic: Her magic mostly consists of healing and simple protective spells, which she finds very useful, but has no ambitions to learn more.
Weapon: Rhia knows some defensive hand-to-hand combat and, if absolutely necessary, carries a gun. However, she doesn't enjoy using it except as a last alternative.
Personality: Rhia is calm and very laid-back. She loves traveling and seeing new places, but enjoys the quieter contemplative moments more than the fleeting excitement many adventurers seek. She is passionate about her job and loves discovering different beasts and animals and often puts herself into dangerous situations to study them. With her upbringing, Rhia was taught to seek beauty in her surroundings and she notices things that often escape the typical observer.
However, she is often lost in her own thoughts and loses touch with reality, which gets her and those with her into trouble. People mistake her calm introversion for snobbishness, and she finds it difficult to make friends. Although Rhia rarely starts conversations she will answer questions and share her thoughts, but she is reserved and unwilling to reveal too much unless she feels that her audience is trustworthy.
Bio: Rhia grew up in a very small town in Muirmor. Her mother was a teacher and always encouraged her thirst for knowledge, but Rhia was closest with her father, who was an artist. Although she appeared to be a smaller version of her mother, her introspective nature and quiet personality was exactly like her father's. She grew up listening and watching the world around her, but found her interest in animals much stronger than her interest in people.
Since she was home-schooled this powerful curiosity was catered to, and although Rhia is very intelligent her knowledge is a bit one-sided. At about twenty years old, Rhia left home and began traveling, mainly in the islands of Hikamitsu, getting hands on experience with researching the seemingly endless varieties of animals around. She keeps her journals with her constantly, and even when she isn't working Rhia will occasionally jot something down, random ideas and theories, some useful.
She is currently interested in the strange transformation many animals go through after being 'possessed' by crystals, and hopes to find what causes the possession and if it can be cured.
Description: Rhia stands at about 5'4" with a slender, boyish frame. Although she's healthy and stays in shape, she isn't muscular by any means. Her skin is a dark olive color from all her time in the sun and her light brown hair is cut short, to about her chin, and often pulled back revealing her pointed ears.
Her eyes are grey and usually unfocused unless she is working, and her wide, thin-lipped mouth is usually relaxed into an easy smile. Rhia usually wears dark, form-fitting leggings and boots with loose, comfortable tunics, simple and travel-stained.

Race: Basqirra
Gender: Female
Preference: Male
Element: Water
Strength: Powerful but looses steam over time
Speed: Incredibly Fast
Magic: Above Average
Weapon: Favors Lances and secondary weapon is a thin short sword
Personality: Shaylee is a care-free individual, but when she is serious or set on something she can not be stopped. She is almost always smiling; it tends to be more of a grin, but a smile none the less. Her emotions rule her and she will follow them more than her head.
Bio: Shaylee ran off from home in the past and by doing this she angered her mother. She had then been traveling around Kadowei training herself to battle. Eventually she went back home to prove herself to her mother, only to find that her mother was killed. She was almost forced to marry the man that had killed her mother, but managed to defeat him and is now queen of her people.

Canaya Shurtaal
Name: Canaya Shurtaal, She prefers just Canaya
Age: She appears to be somewhere around her mid twenties but she's really 204
Occupation: Naturalist
Race: Siotacha
Gender: Female
Preferance: Male
Element: Canaya has a strong affinity with the Earth elements.
Strength: Her strength as brawn goes, she's a little weak there.
Speed: She can weave in and out of danger as she sees fit.
Magic: Her race, the Siotacha, are strong with their magic skills.
Weapon: Canaya doesn't believe in using projectile weapons, instead she uses a long halberd and stows away a small dagger that's strapped with a holster to her thigh.
Personality: Canaya is extremely soft spoken, she hardly speaks out of turn...or at all for that matter. She mainly keeps to herself, and she works very hard at what she does. When nature is disturbed, she gets very....VERY angry so I wouldn't cross her. Canaya is determined to rid the pollutants in the world as well as help the so called 'monsters' in the world, they have their own will too and they should be able to do as they please. Canaya loves animals with all of her heart. She has somewhat of a temper when angered but when you get to know her, she's a rather sweet girl.
Bio: Canaya had grown up with her parents and an older brother. They all cared for her very much, being that she was the only female in the family that had a chance to get married. Her older brother was always very protective of her, in lue of such treatment, she really wasn't allowed to go outside much. Canaya's parents were afraid that she'd get attacked or something gruesome like that. They didn't know that Canaya could take care of herself. When her affinity for the Earth element came forward, her mother couldn't have been happier with her. Her own mother had a strong connection with the Earth as well and she was afraid that Canaya wouldn't have what she had as well. Now that Canaya's element had come through, her mother had helped her hone her craft down to an artform. It was only natural that Canaya grew up to be a naturalist. Canaya likes to explore despite how she grew up. She had visited her home years ago to find it ransacked and left open for anyone to enter of their own will. Canaya didn't know what happened to her parents and every time a traveller would come by, she'd jump at the chance to ask them what happened, so far...nothing though. Canaya misses her brother and parents but the Earth comes first. Now Canaya is self-sufficient and works for herself, it's not odd for her to pass by the traveller every once and awhile and offer them assistance. She loves people.

Name: Tara Lunastra
Title: Crown Princess of Mylnr
Age: 20
Occupation: Adventurer
Race: Saorill
Gender: Female
Preference: Female
Element: Wind
Strength: Average
Speed: Highly Agile
Magic: Adept
Weapon: A pair of long swords. They are the only two remaining things Tara has of her sisters’ to keep their memories close to her. Selene’s has a slight blue tint to the blade, with a length of 33 inches. Chandra’s carries a green tint and is 31 inches long. Tara carries them at her hip, one on each side. She allows no one to touch them.
Personality: Tara keeps her sisters’ request close to heart. To the outside world, she is a light-hearted girl, full of mischief and curiosity. She embraces every chance she gets for new experiences. It is a common occurrence to see her sitting down with three different servings of a single type of dish. Savoring it once for herself and once more for each of her sisters. She loves to tease people, just as her sisters did and feels no shame if she embarrasses the person. However, though they are few and far between, there are times when she is seized by a deep melancholy and will likely sit for hours in one spot, staring into nothing.
Bio: Tara was not born Crown Princess. That title was shared by her twin elder sisters: Chandra and Selene. Seven years older than her, they delighted in having someone to play with and from the time she could walk, they brought her along on their journeys outside of the palace. Tara did not care about the danger, so long as she got to spend time with her beloved sisters. Besides, they did everything they could to ensure no harm befell her. For thirteen years this peaceful existence continued.

Then, the day of the twin’s twentieth birthday arrived. Tara had woken up early in order to be the first to present Chandra and Selene with their birthday presents. Bursting into her sisters’ room, the girl was greeted with a horrific scene. Both sisters lay dyeing, side by side. Blood covered the floor and gashes covered the walls. The king and queen came rushing at Tara’s cry of anguish, finding her slumped between her sisters, cradling their swords.

Whenever twins were born as the eldest to the kingdom of Mylnr, a Geas would be placed upon the two. Upon their twentieth birthday, they would fight until one was dead, the victor would then be announced as the true heir to the throne. In this case, it was decided that both were false and Tara was the one destined to rule the kingdom.

And so, seven years passed. Everyday she was showered with gifts from parents who were never really there. Eventually, suitors came to court her, but were soon thrown out when she saw that they were the same ones who had been courting her sisters. No one would talk about her sisters, no matter how much she tried to get them to. It was like they had never existed. Even their room had been cleaned out.

The day of her confirmation came at last. In the early hours of the morning, a servant delivered a letter to her room. It bore her sisters’ seal. Inside was an apology. An apology for not leaving her alone. They had known what was coming and could not stop it. Reading their last words, Tara resolved to escape and to live her life for all of them. The ceremony came and went. By the time the nobles came forward to offer their congratulations, Tara was outside of the palace, heading for the docks and the ship that would carry her across the sea to her new life.
Description: Standing at 5’4” Tara has a slender, athletic build, typical of the Saorill. She currently wears a brown tank top with matching cargo pants. Over this she wears a beige cloak. On each wrist she wears a charm bracelet; one gold and the other silver. A third one, made of both silver and gold is hidden from sight, worn around her left ankle. Just like her sisters’ swords, she allows no one to touch them. On her upper right arm Tara bears a tattoo denoting her as the Crown Princess of Mylnr, which she currently hides with a swath of bandages.

Name: Fenrir
Title: Crown Prince of the Wolf Maolna
Age: 28
Occupation: Soldier in the Maolna Army
Race: Wolf Maolna
Gender: Male
Preferance: Female
Element: Darkness
Strength: His strength is higher than the averga Maolna
Speed: He's one of the fastest in his homeland
Magic: He doesn't use magic
Weapon: Modified gauntlets with missing palms and claws on the end, as well as matching versions for his feet
Personality: He's rude and violent, very sarcastic and cynical, and a major pessimist. He doesn't really make plans, much perfering to go with instinct or come up wit ideas on the fly. He's the oldest in his family and he's a very angry sort. He has a soft spot for women and children, but over all he's very gruff. He doesn't recognize personal space. He's very competitve. He's often blunt and to the point, and he isn't prone to niceties. He hates feeling like things are being forced upon him, and he much perfers finding his own way. He hates feeling tied down or settled, but he appears to have made an exception with Enya, then again, it could be because she's an adventurer as well.
Bio: As the oldest Fenrir always knew that he would be the next in line to the throne, and he hated it; he hated the thought of having his future planned ahead, given to him on a silver platter. He often beat up his younger brothers in an effort to "put them in their places", aka: prove that he deserved the station his birth had granted him. He hated being told what to do and the feeling of having no choice in life, and so when he was sixteen he left his kingdom to explore the rest of the world. He moved constantly, fought all the time, never allowed himself to settle in once place; he needed to be stronger, needed to find his own way. However, he became possessed by the crystals and spent many years being forced to do their bidding, but he was saved by Enya Wolfsbane. Since then he has sworn to protect her, and has even fallen for her, though he never acknowledges it. He and Enya now lead the Maolna Army. He does, however, suffer from mental trauma from being controlled by the crystals; he dislikes even more now than before the thought of being helpness and unable to control his fate..
Description: Messy spiked black hair that bairly manages to hide a woven silver circulet, golden eyes, and golden tanned skin, with black star tattoos on his temples. He's muscular, though lean, and stands at nearly six and half feet, given him both intimidation through sheer hieght and his nearly constant look of cold disdain. He wears a black tunic shirt with the ties undone over a white leather shirt, and black leather pants. His gauntlets are an etched silver colored metal and nearly reach his elbows, and their companions do the same on his legs. In wolf form he is a horse sized black wolf with silver armor.

Wolf Maolna Prince, Karoku Inugami
User Image (Karoku and Iio, his pet) ((Has wolf ears, tail, and fangs))
Name: Karoku Inugami/Karo
Pet's Name: Iio
Title: Yami (Darkness)
Age: Seventeen years of age
Occupation: Mercenary/Assassin
Race: Wolf Maolna
Gender: Male
Preferance: Female
Element: Darkness/Shadow
Strength: Incredible
Speed: Incredible
Magic: Average
Weapon: Hand-To-Hand and a Nihonto that he rarely uses.
Personality: Despite being hotheaded, Karoku is a chivalrous person and would never hit a woman unless she is a powerful fighter. Karoku is a feisty, rude, somewhat friendly, extremely competetive teen. When he finds people he can truly call friends, he will protect them with his life.
Bio: Karoku is a wolf prince of the Maolna, the younger brother of Fenrir, and second place for the crown, although he doesn't care for this, so he left at a young age. As he lived outside of his home, trying to start from scratch, he found things much harder than anticipated, but he somehow managed, seeing as he wasn't like most of the other princes. He earned his fame and title by his combat abilities. No one has been able to defeat him in battle so far, except for his older brother, Fenrir. That was many years ago though. Karoku is sure that he could stand his ground against Fenrir nowadays. Also, Karoku had gone through much at his age, as friends that he had gained in his pack, died out from battles or disease. This caused his heart to harden slightly, but there is still warmth left in the young Maolna. He has a pack of other wolf maolna that follow his command and roam the land with him. He prefers not to be like the other princes, so he lives his life as a mercenary; killing for money. He has learned how to control his ki, and is able to summon a pack of inugami for a temporary amount of time and some other neat tricks. His transformation changes him into a giant black wolf with a patch of fur on his forehead that is colored into a pattern, looking like a his bloodline mark. He has a tattoo right above his left eye, signifying his birthright. He keeps the tattoo covered by a bandage so his identity is hidden from his pack. Karoku does not want them to treat him any different.

Name: Korsu
Title: Technically King of the Bat Maolna
Age: 17
Occupation: Adventurer
Race: Bat Maolna
Gender: Male
Preferance: Female
Element: Wind
Strength: Extraordinary
Speed: Extraordinary
Magic: He uses no magic
Weapon: A Two-handed sword that he can wield with one hand if he doesn't have the room for weilding it with both. And also a dagger that is a little longer than his hand, he carries it strapped underneath his shirt for easy access if he needs it.
Personality:Korsu is normally a very laid back person. He is carefree and most things don't bother him. It takes a lot to disgust or disturb him. He doesn't care what poeple think of him and is a social person. When he find something that intrigues him he will pursue it. When he has a goal he must complete, he will until it's done. He absolutely despises when he fails at things. He is loyal to his friends and will put his life before theirs just to keep them safe.
Bio: He grew up in Khonsalach for only 7 years of his life with his parents, the king and queen. When he was out playing hide and seek with the other children he grew tired of waiting to be found and wandered back to his home. He found a scene of destruction. Maolna laying on the streets, bleeding to death or already dead. Fearing for the worse, he ran as fast as he could home, but only to find his home in ruins. The king and queen of the Bat Maolna, lieing dead in the living room. It was a scene of a massacre, even though there was so much blood, he couldn't believe that it was their blood only. but know other bodies were to be found. He left his parents and searched the rest of the place. Everyone was dead. He then began the gruesome job of buring the dead and marking their graves. He gave up hope of finding anyone alive in the vicinity. He took his father's weapon and his mother dagger and left his childhood home. He became an adventurer. He has only met a few other bat maolna, but they only talked for a short while before going on their separate ways. He didn't realize it when he left, but he was now the ruler of the Bat Maolna.
Description: Korsu stands at 5' 6", he is lean, well muscled, but not enough to stand out. His black hair is cut so it lies close to his head. His eye's are completely black, even where the whites of his eyes should be. Even though his eye's are like that, his vision is just as good as everyone else's. Along with that, he has the fangs of a bat. He also wears a cloth wrapped around his head, though the top of his head is still showing, hiding his bat ears and dulling the noise slightly, since he has very sensitive hearing. Also, hidden underneath the cloth is a tattoo of a flying bat. His skin is well tanned and from spending most of his time outdoors.
He wears a black sleeveless shirt underneath a black leather vest, reinforced with steel plates for protection and mobility. Though they have no cloth or leather on both sides of his chest, and attaching again around his waist. This is needed because of the membranes attached to the sides of his chest and his arms to his wrist, allowing him to fly if he wants to. He wears nothing on his arms and hands for this reason. On his legs, he wears black leather pants, also reinforced with steel plates. His pants end a little below his knees, where the ends are then tucked into his leather slips that are around his shins. A metal plate was attached to each of the slips, where his shins are. These slips are skin tight for easy mobility. He wears nothing on his feet for there upon them, he has talons. He hangs his sword in it's scabbard and on it's sword belt on his left hip. Both are black (big surprise, huh?). The reason he wears all black is a preference to himself but also because it allows him to move around at night easier.

FAQ

1 ) I have a question about the Maolna. May I make mine like, part-wolf or something?(wolf ears, claws, fangs) I'm not quite sure if that's what they like, so I thought it best to ask you before making my character like that.

The Maolna are seperated, like the humans, into different subspecies. Wolves are among them, in fact, in the Maolna Council the Wolf King holds the most sway. (For every different Maolna species there is a different "capital" and royal family. There's a main capital city and that's where the head of each royal family meets once a year or when ever needed to discuss business.) Wolf Maolna have tails and ears as well as fangs, though no claws. ^^ They have claw mark tattoos often, however, and they are fond of a type of armor/weapon that is like a modified gauntlet with claws on the end.

2 ) Alright, I have a base for my character. To make him though, I need to know one thing. When you say technologically advanced, how so do you mean? Modern day? Future? or late past?

Well, considering this is a weird combination of past and future, it means that guns and laser guns both exist, as well as... shock sticks, I guess you could call them. Cell phones exist, too, as well as electricity and air conditioning. There are hover cars, for sand use, and there are... air ships, for lack of a better word. There are no trains, though... I don't know why... They just didn't want them, I guess. There are also elevators.

3 ) Alright, now, I plan to have him be from the desert nation/race (of Humans). What are their cities/towns like? Also, you mentioned they are spiritual in their traditions and beliefs, I need more details on their traditions and customs.

They're nomadic and move from ruin to ruin, or from tent city to tent city. They believe deeply in the spirit of all things, and the honor the land greatly. They believe everything has a soul and should be treated with respect, and that only through adversity do you gain strength. They don't believe in the easy way out, and they see time past as perferable to time now.

4 ) Is there one common language all races speak? or do they all speak their own?

Well, each species does have an individual langauge, but there is a common language they all speak, which, luckily, happens to be the language of the Maolna, so there are no language barriers there.

5 ) Also, go into more detail about the "Strength, speed, and magic" sections of the profile. I have no idea what to put there.

Strength, speed, and magic refers to the profieceny each race has, so look there for what it says about them. Humans have the greatest range, they can be very strong or very weak, or great in magic or use no magic, or they can be fast or slow. Just look at what your race is good at and describe your individual character's standing on that.

What I was looking for was how I'm suppose to describe them. Such as "Proficiant" or perhaps, "Adept" or something more specific such as "Is strong enough to lift twice his body weight"

However you feel you need to. Sometimes being vauge is good, though, because then you have more wiggle room.

6 ) Next question. I need a range of weaponry.

Depending on how technologically advanced your characters race is, you can have guns or swords, ninja weapons, bow and arrow, lance, spear... Pretty much it can be open ended, just think about what would work in what region. Guns aren't smart for the desert, because of sand, but a "shock stick" (a stick that shoots lightning) is a smart idea.

7 ) Anyway, I plan on making him a captain of one of these airships. I don't have specific questions, but I need a feel for them. How they work, what they look like, what they're made of...

Ranks onboard the ship, are they mostly used for military or civilian purposes? Etc. Etc.

They are used for both military and civilian purposes, and so the ranks vary. The military ones are very strict, think Airforce ranks, but the civilian ones generall have Captain, First Mate, so on, like on a normal ship. They are powered my Hikamitsuian technology in order to bridge the gap between continents more easily, but for our purposes we'll confine the airship solely to Talard; it's a combination of elementally impowered gems to force air under the ship to keep it aloft (certain people are strong enough in magic to lend that magic to objects), and a series of fans that propel them through the air. They can fly fairly high, but unfourtunately can't make it over the mountains that keep the Maolna seperate, and no one's ever returned from Khonsalach who's gone around the outside of contininet. (My spelling is atrocious today, forgive me.) They tend to vary in size and shape according to their function, so you have some free will there.

What about material and looks though? Are they shaped like actual ships? Made of steel?

They're all made of metal and depending on the use they're shaped in different ways. If they're built for speed they tend to be long and thin with smooth edges to cut on wind resistance, however, the "cruise" ones tend to be fat and kind of oblong shapped, deep, and are slightly angular.

8 ) You mention magic-holding gems allow the airship to keep afloat, I assume that means gems store magical energy in the rp better than other objects?

Yes. ^^ Gems retain energy better than other objects, which is why it's unusual for any other object to hold magic. If they want another object to have magic in it, they generally insert a gem into it somewhere.

9 ) I would like to create a Maolna, but I was curious of the different types there are. Because Horses have a pack oriented minds, would they be apart of the Maolna thing? Also, if they were, how would the person appear? Would they be like a centaur, because if they are almost human they would need part of them to be a horse.

Yeah. I guess that wasn't just one question heh.

Basically any animal with a pack, herd, flock, school mentality. Yes, horses can be Maolna, though they wouldn't be centaur like. A horse Maolna would have the ears for definate, as well as the tail. They have to remain human below the waist, however, as they were meant to be able to breed with humans. They might patches of skin colored like the patches of fur on their horse form.

10 ) Do all Maolna's have tattoo's? Or is it just the Royal families? And since theirs are often on their faces, would the other tattoos for other Maolna's, if they had some, be on their faces also?

Not all Maolna have tattoos, it's mostly either an aestic choice, or to show that you have a certain ranking. Only the Royal families tattoo their faces, however, and other Maolna can not.

11 ) What lies beyond the sea? Are there any other continents? And if so, do they have anything unique to add to this roleplay?

Yes, there are other continents, but Hikamitsu is the only country that does any business with other continents, because it lies along the edge of Talard, the continent where this story takes place. Also, it is the only save haven, because ships bound for the side of Talard where Khonsalach is have never come back. Talard is the largest continent on Kadowei and holds the most diverse populations. Other continents are home to different types of humans, but depending on the climate they might have different races of the ones mentioned in the character section on them.

In order to make things simpler, and because the entire story takes place on Talard, I have eliminated travel to other continents. If you want to come from one, you can only be a race other than human, to make things simpler.

History and Politics of Talard

The continent of Talard has an ancient history.

User Image

Hikamitsu (Hika-mit-sue):
User Image

The Hikamitsuian religion is one of the land; the feel that all things are part of the divine and must be respected, that said, they believe that the best way to understand the divine and respect it is to understand it; thus is the reason why they try so hard to advance their knowledge through technology.
Each island has it's own personal ruler, though they all bow to the rule of the main monarch who rules over the largest island. The rulers are chosen not of birth but out of who is most fit to rule according to their knowledge and how they treat others.
They have always been on peaceful relations with the other countries, but perhaps this is because the other countries are afraid of the consequences of attacking them? After all, if they willinging give away techonology to others, they must be keeping something stronger for themselves...
User Image

Muirmor (Muyr-more):
User Image

Seeking knowledge and refinement, beauty in all things, the Murimorese have a tendancy to rub raw their neighbors, the Rathbhin, whom they consider barbaric. They seek to build more beautiful buildings, and they have a strong friendship with Hikamitsu in order to take in more knowledge from them.
They are ruled by an absoulte monarch through which the role is passed by bloodline. The Murimor Royal Family is as old as their country.
There has been a history of war between Rathbhin based on their differences and on land between the two countries. There had been a tentitive friendship up until seven years ago, but that was broken when an adventurer from Rathbhin and a researcher from Muirmor joined forced to investigate the temple of Sorinahi, which lies between the river that seperates the two countries. Ruarc Wolfsbane, the adventurer, was killed during the investigation, and though Sean was proven innocent, Rathbhin declared war. Luckily for Muirmor, Rathbhin has only sent over people to raid their fields and cities thus far.

Rathbhin (Ra-veen):
User Image

Rathbhin has always been devoted to the pursuit of knowledge and power, power mostly because of the dangerous terrain that they inhabit. They don't care what something looks like so long as it works, but they do like to engrave weapons and metal so long as it doesn't affect the effectiveness. Their only real show of vanity goes for their hair, which the tend to wear long.
Each town has an elected ruler, elected based on what they can do for the community, and whenever that ruler steps out of line they can be replaced. Each ruler meets every so often in order to negotiate laws for the whole country.
Because of their nearness to the desert, Rathbhin and Ourmiya have always been in close relation and on friendly terms. Rathbhin has often lended a hand to their neighbors, however, they often get into land conflicts with Muirmor and have been in a small war for seven years with them. Though there is no open conflict, there have been many small raids along the borders and open hostility.
User Image

Ouramiya (Ew-ya-me-ah):
User Image

Ouramiya is home to both the Ouramiya and the Deshret, both of whom are nomadic civilizations. The Deshret are deeply spiritual, having ancestor worship and they believe that everything has a soul and in personal gods and goddesses. The Ouramiya, however, believe in the Earth, Sky, Moon, and Sun, and worship them, and they have certian technologies that work in sand that even the Hikamitsuians haven't invented, though they don't devote their whole lives to techonological pursuits.
Each band of Ouramiya and Deshret is ruled by either a single elder, or a council of elders. The "elders" can be of any age, so long as they rule their people respectully and do what they can to help them.
Living in an area as dangerous as theirs has made the people of Ouramiya a bit reliant on the Rathbhin for things that simply don't grow in the desert, but it's a very good relationship, since they can supply the Rathbhin goverment with minerals found in their homeland. Because of the fact they have many ruins, they also negociate often with Muirmor, in order so that the later country can investigate the ruins of the former.
User Image

Khonsalach (Con-sa-lock):
User Image

The Maolna believe deeply in Earth and Moon, since they can "hear" the whispers of the former and they were created by the latter. They are respectiful of nature and animals, the latter because they're believed to be their cousins, and the former because they know that Earth is harmed when too much damage is done to the land. That said, they do kill animals and cut down trees to build homes, but only the trees needed and only if they can't find stone to build with or if they're building in a tree; they also only eat the animals they need and they also prey for those animals souls to be reborn.
Each species of Maolna is ruled by it's own royal family, and there is an individual capitial for each species, though they tend to live generally everywhere. There is a main capitial where the rulers meet once or a year or whenever needed.
They have been cut off from the rest of Talard since they left the rest of the contininet thousands of years ago, the exact reason is unknown, but it is claimed they moved in order to be closer to where Earth has buried himself. They have no real relationship with the outside world, the nearest contact being with Enya Wolfsbane and her friends, but since they consider Enya to be a child of the Moon like themselves because of her tattoos this hasn't effected them. They are not ready to meet the outside world yet.
The Council is suffering greatly from the loss of the King of the Bats, and as there is no one left of Royal blood to take their place, they've been unable to make solid choices. The bats are beginning to resent the fact that they have no voice in the Council.

The Northern Lands:
User Image

Though considered to be apart of the other countries, the Northern Lands are home to the Basqirra, and many Sanikailliya and Saorill as well, The Queen of the Basqirra rules her people from here, and a Saorill kingdom exists here as well. The Sanikailliya have many communities here as well. These different peoples live in realitive peace due to the fact they don't often come into conflict.
The Basqirra are ruled by a queen, and the crown is always passed to the daughter instead of the son, no matter who is born first. Her rule extends to all Basqirra, no matter where they live.
The Saorill have individual kingdoms each ruled by a king or queen, and they meet in Muirmor once every ten years to make sure all their laws aren't countering each other.
The Sanikailliya each have individual communities led by an elder, who may or may not be old, all communties consider the other ones to be their sister communities, and if they come into conflict on a rule they resolve it carefully and do not change their rules.
Despite the fact they are considered part of many countries, those of the Northern Lands feel they are apart. The rules of humans do not apply to them
User Image

The Southern Lands:
User Image

Though considered to be apart of the other countries, the Southern Lands are home to the Siotacha, and many Sanikailliya and Saorill as well. The High King of the Siotacha rules from here, and three Saorill kingdoms exist here as well. The Sanikailliya have many communities here as well. There is a small bit of conflict that goes on between these peoples due to hunting, but nothing that has not been easily resolved.
The Siotacha are ruled by a High King who is only the second king to rule, but it is said that the position is passed down to who so ever most qualifies. That being said, there are "princes" who are hand picked to rule over the communities of Siotacha in other areas of the world.
The Southern Lands are petitioning to be recoginized as their own individual country.

Monsters and Creatures

User Image

Normal Monsters

User Image

Monster Type: Normal
Name: Crisis Wolf
Rarity: Common
Average Size: Small Pony
Locations: Forest, mountains, outskirts of towns and cities
Magic: None
Strength: Powerful jaws, hard hitting
Speed: Fast and agile
Description: With a tendacy towards moving in pairs or in small packs, these wolves can be devistating on the livliehood of any village or city. Large and tone with long legs and oversized teeth and claws, these wolves are terrifying forms of their smaller, unpossesed, cousins: and the large crystals jutting from their shoulder blades and spines doesn't help that image any.

Monster Type: Normal
Name: Crystal Bat
Rarity: Common
Average Size: Watermelon
Locations: Caves anytime of the day, forests at night.
Magic: Wind magic, weak
Strength: Weak, but they can drain fast quantities of health if they land a good bite
Speed: Super fast
Description: These bats attack in darkness, sometimes moving solo, or in huge groupings that can overwhelm travelers. Their huge, distended mouths with large sharp fangs are perfect for draining blood, and the crystals in rosette shapes jutting from their backs glow in the dark, which is the only way of spotting them in the caves they perfer.

Monster Type: Normal
Name: Crystalized Scorpion
Rarity: Common
Average Size: Human sized
Locations: Desert, mountains, and occasionally in forests near mountains and deserts
Magic: Fire magic, strong
Strength: Powerful pincers and stinger, average
Speed: Average speed
Description: Monstrous even for those possesed by crystals, these scorpions are covered with a thin layer of crystal instead of the normal exoskeleton. It takes a lot of strength to bust through their shields, and they tend to attack in groups of two to five, making them difficult to eradicate.

Monster Type: Normal
Name: Demon Chicken
Rarity: Common
Average Size: A bit larger than a watermelon
Locations: Villages and farmland
Magic: None
Strength: Fairly weak
Speed: Average
Description: These chickens are not exactly the most daunting of foes, though the roosters are more formidable than the hens. They are, however, relentless, but they're good for training. What they lack in strength, however, they more than make up for with sheer scary-ness alone: glowing red eyes, fangs in their beaks, and glowing crystals jutting out randomly from their bodies, these chickens haunt the nightmares of many a young child and older farmer.

Monster Type: Normal
Name: Battle Horse
Rarity: Uncommon
Average Size: Twice as large as a normal horse
Locations: Forest, fields, outskirts of towns and cities
Magic: Wind, weak
Strength: Powerful
Speed: Very fast
Description: Battle Horses move alone or in groups, ravaging the land and stripping it entirely of vegetation; they also eat the flesh of animals. Large with spires of crystal jutting out in armor like formations on their bodies, these horses have razor sharp hooves and fangs just as sharp, as well as blood red eyes and a crazed expression that is just plain terrifying.

Gaurdian Monsters

User Image

Monster Type: Gaurdian
Name: Dragon
Rarity: They protect only the most powerful and treasure of objects
Average Size: As they can shapeshift in size, they range from the size of a flea to the size of a mountain
Locations: Anywhere
Magic: The magic type depends on the dragon and location, but they all have powerful magic and fire
Strength: More than powerful enough to handle a lone adventurer
Speed: The smaller the dragon, the faster, the larger, the slower
Description: Shapeshifters by nature, dragons are the only creature outside of the Maolna who can take on a humanesque form. They are highly intellegent, but horrendously jealous and protective of things they consider their own, which can also include people. They can be possessed by crystals, but it doesn't happen often, as dragons are too much for even the Crystal Goddess to fully control.

Monster Type: Gaurdian
Name: Pheonix
Rarity: Extremely rare
Average Size: Three horses in length, with a wingspan three times as large
Locations: Desert and mountain tombs and old ruins; there is, however, one pheonix who guards a temple between Muirmor and Rathbhin.
Magic: Powerful in fire magic, with average wind magic
Strength: More than average strength
Speed: More than average
Description: Golden red and glowing orange and yellow, these pheonixes are beautiful, and were raised by ancient priests to protect temples and royal tombs from robbers or bandits. Though the priests are long gone, these immortal birds remain behind, continuing on into eternity in their cycles of life, death, and rebirth. They are intellegent, but not nearly on the level of the higher races, and they can be possessed, but they put up a powerful fight.

Monster Type: Gaurdian
Name: Griffin
Rarity: More common than dragons, but still fairly uncommon
Average Size: About the size of two horses
Locations: Mountains, forests, deserts
Magic: Earth and wind magic, average
Strength: Average strength
Speed: Far above average speed
Description: These half lion, half eage creatures are highly intellegent but utterly terrifying. They can be friendly and loyal, loving, creatures, but they guard things they consider their own with a jealous possesiveness that far out does even that of a possessed dragon.

Boss Monsters

User Image

Monster Type: Boss
Name: Possesed Dragon, Mala'kariin
Rarity: There's only one
Average Size: Larger than a temple
Locations: One, and that location is secret
Magic: Fire and earth magic, powerful
Strength: More than enough to handle a band of adventurers
Speed: Very slow, refuses to move
Description: This dragon is the only dragon to be possessed by the Crystal Goddess, but he can not be fully controlled. He jealously guards the young priestess, as he was apparantly in love with her secretly before he was possesed. As she alone knows the location of Earth, she is needed to find the old god; but first you need to get past him. He's huge, with crystal encrusted scales and thick armor plating on his back and tail.
