[-PART II-]
"Under the Stars"

Walking under the dark sky, Amorette had been wandering around for awhile but she hadn't encountered another soquili in awhile. She hadn't even been home since she had departed from Azzinoth and it's been days. Amorette's not even sure how long it had been.

She had a lot of time to think about things and she finally came to the conclusion that she really should try and get along better with her family. It wasn't that she didn't love them but she really wished that they supported her more. She tried to be a good daughter and a good sister but they made it difficult for her to show that...

Even though her mind was preoccupied, Amorette could still seem to distract herself to keep her sanity... Looking up at the crescent moon, Amorette wondered how the moon kept doing the same thing every single night. Did it get bored? Did it ever wonder what else there was to life? There were just some things that meant to stay a secret.

And then... there was that little encounter that she really couldn't get out of her head. Azzinoth was his name. He had brought up some valid points about her and she couldn't stop thinking about what he said. Was she ever going to see him again or was she destined to visit him in her memories?

Life had been quiet and the stallion had drifted back and forth without any interruption to his usual routine. He wandered here and there, he paused to admire a new sight and then continued about his business. His duty was to ensure his Great-Nephew remained safe, healthy and comfortable. It was through the will of the spirits and great fortune that Azzinoth had discovered that while Esper hadn't been happy to be here, he was settling in admirably given the circumstances. There had been no dramatic events, no moments of explosive emotion and as such he could have argued that he was experiencing a rare moment in his life where serenity was dominant and chaos had been all but vanquished.

Well, in a manner of speaking it had been at least...

However, there were certain things that still plagued him. Though he had willed it more than once he had not encountered the siren from his previous dreams. It was unfortunate but over the course of a few days he had come to terms with the fact that perhaps she had been one of those 'one time things' despite his approval of her. This was typical of course - the moment in which he found a mare he could admire for all the qualities she possessed and she vanished. What she had been replaced with was silence in the evenings (a rarity) and rowdy, over-sexed mares during the afternoons. If he were to be brutally honest he definitely didn't appreciate the attention of these mares but it had helped to remind him of where he was and confirmed in his mind that he had not been sleepwalking (a bad habit of his) and she had definitely been a true figment of the imagination.

Alas, as night had fallen he had fallen into a slumber and no sooner had his eyes slid shut than they creaked open again. The ethereal glow hid the signs of a slumbering beast and no creature nearby would realise that the male was moving on 'autopilot' so to speak. His more uncertain and shy side now silenced, the more presentable male rose from his place within the foliage and rolled his shoulders. Creasing his brow he gazed upwards briefly towards the shimmering moon overhead and then proceeded forwards.

It had been a while since he had last been within the plains and as a consequence he savoured the sensation of the long grasses as they tickled at his stomach. Whether or not he encountered anyone this evening remained to be seen, the slumbering part of him would be content to see none but that which remained awake stayed positive - he would have enjoyed a decent chat!

Amorette enjoyed being by herself but sometimes it was just nice to have some company. There was something about just having... another presence nearby. It made things seem... less lonely. Yawning, Amorette continued to stand there until she decided to move away from the river. That was a disaster waiting to happen because for the last week or so, the mare had been very unlucky... It was strange because bad things just kept happening to her. She didn't believe in bad luck but she was concerned about what the fates were doing to her.

She walked past large trees and moved through the grasses silently. Amorette tripped slightly on a rock and tumbled forward but managed to catch herself before she completely fell to the ground. Regaining her balance, Amorette took a deep breath and tried to relax. Haha... She tried not to let these small things get to her.

Amorette hadn't noticed Azzinoth's dark form in the distance yet and she just kept walking wondering where her hooves would take her. There was something called fate out there comforted her because she knew that things happened for a reason. So, if she ever made a mistake, it was meant to happen.

The thump had been a loud one, loud enough to alert the stallion to the presence of another and his ears swivelled round to receive the sound. As it touched the tips of his ears, he quickly deciphered what had happened and turned his head. Unsurprisingly the mare was partially hidden beneath the long grasses as she stumbled but within moments she had regained her composure and revealed herself. Suffice to say it wasn't long before the smile crept on to the male's lips as he recognised the mare in question; a little more clumsy than what he had previously seen but she was most definitely the one he had met before.

The song bird, right?

After a few moments in which he provided her with the opportunity to regather her composure, he deviated from his path and approached. Ensuring he kept a reasonable distance from the mare he maintained an amiable smile and released a small chuckle in greeting. It had been quite some time since he had last encountered the petite creature but she seemed well despite the stumbling. However, this did not stop him from doing what was customary amongst acquaintances whereby he wouldn't completely ignore the accident.

"It has been a while, M'lady!" He spoke at last and arched a brow, "I trust your fall caused no lasting harm...?"

She had thought about what Azzinoth said about her singing a lot. There was a lot of truth in what he had to say and she wanted to try to put that into good use. Though, Amorette just wanted to start singing every time she thought about the mysterious stallion she met many nights ago.

Amorette had hoped that there wasn't anybody around but she was wrong... Turning her head slightly, she was a little surprised that she saw Azzinoth nearby. "Oh hello! Yes, it's been much too long." She gave him a huge smile and then started laughing sheepishly when he mentioned her slight trip. "Hah... I think I'll be okay. No physical damage this time." Grinning, Amorette didn't mind looking silly around other people as long as it wasn't too embarrassing.

"What have you been up to since the last time we met?" She loved hearing about what others have done because Amorette hardly did anything worth mentioning. She grew up listening to fairy tales and epic stories about heroes and she really didn't mind just listening to others. Sometimes, their stories could give her insight about other things and she had a lust for knowledge.

Evidently she was unharmed, her limbs were intact and save for a slight loss in composure she was fine. The smile made all of this apparent and combined with her hospitality she was certain to prove her point. Reassured he resisted the urge to double check each of her limbs and fixed the smile upon his lips, there was no use in him worrying over such things. Delicate she may be but he had been shown more than once that creatures were occasionally more hardy than they looked - her petite shell could simply be a cover for the strength that lay within. He doubted this of course (as he always did), but he refrained from pointing such a thing out.

"If you are certain then so be it, but if you do detect any slight discomfort to let me know," he advised after a brief pause. "I am a doctor," he added. There were some who would have chuckled at this moment, they would have raised the question of suitability regarding such a statement but he was a doctor. Asleep or not he could attend to her and he would be honourable about it as opposed to taking advantage of her naive nature... No matter how tempting such an idea might appear to be!

Nevertheless as with any good hostess she steered the conversation to safer territory and he followed obediently, raising his eyes heavenwards as he attempted to recall if he had done anything of note in the last few weeks. It was difficult to determine what some would call interesting and what others would regard as rather tedious. Given the nature of his work, his activities from day to day were much the same and he was a creature of routine... So what had he done in the last few weeks? Surely he had done something of note.

Or not.

Opting not to pause for any longer than was absolutely necessary he decided that honesty was the best policy. He led a life of routine and was lucky in the sense that few dramas had interfered with it, the least he could do was inform her of that much. "I would say that I have done nothing out of the ordinary," he began at last, dropping his gaze to fixate on her. His tail coiled around his leg and he popped his limits, "I am very much a creature of routine; I travel from place to place and treat my patients as and when my services are required - otherwise my life is much without drama." He confessed with a small chuckle.

"What of you? Have you graced any other with the delight of your voice since we last met?"

Amorette wasn't the hardiest creature ever and she was bound to get hurt once in awhile. Her clumsiness was like a foal just learning how to use its legs. Smiling uncomfortably at him, the mare attempted to regain her composure still feeling a little embarrassed. "A doctor?" That meant that... he took care of people and could nurse soquili back to health? That was... interesting. She had never met a doctor before.

"Really? I wouldn't have guessed but thanks." At least she knew that if she did get hurt, he could take care of her. Then again, if someone wanted to harm her, Amorette wouldn't know because she was basically unaware of most 'bad' things. Even she had admitted that she would greet the wolf in sheep's clothing with open arms. Trouble just seemed to follow her...

Nodding, Amorette thought about what she had done recently which wasn't much. "Well, I haven't been out much since we last met. My life is generally boring considering that I don't see many soquili. I haven't sung since last time but I haven't forgotten what you said." Pausing, Amorette continued, "So, seeing you tonight has broken my life's monotony." Smiling up at him, she was happy to see him again.

Had he been awake her scarce interest wouldn't have phased him, he would have chalked it down to his otherwise 'boring' manner. However in his more confident and dream like state he couldn't help but smile with amusement at her dismissive behaviour. Oh, he knew it wasn't intentional and she hadn't done it to be rude but the way she had dealt with his declaration was amusing - if it had been another less naive mare he was fairly certain it could have transformed into inappropriate banter. Endearing as her naivity was though, he couldn't resist the opportunity to tease her just a little at how she had responded and tilted his head to the side, his expression morphing into a sheepish one.

"You know most soquili would say a doctor is a very honourable profession!" he pointed out with a chuckle, "Almost heroic even. Saving lives, assisting those in need day to day. Had you been any other mare I would have expected a swoon at the very least," he announced. His tone was low, almost sad and then his equine lips creased into a more prominant smile. His brow creased a little, his eyes squinted as one would in a smile and he paused. Now, if she looked a little embarassed he would be pleased, there was something to be said about a shy mare when she blushed... not that he would do anything indecent when such a response was received of course.

"Ah, but if you had swooned then you really would have required my assistance and that would be terrible of me would it not?" He continued, coiling his tail around his leg and straightening his posture. "To cause a mare to swoon without consideration for the injuries she may endure as she tumbled to the ground, I should be ashamed for wishing it upon one with such a delicate form - I apologise," he trailed off and rolled his tongue a little in his mouth. His Kawani was improving but that didn't make it any less awkward for him to say particular words, there were just some he suspected he would never be able to pronounce properly.

Nevertheless as she drifted back to their former topic he cleared his throat and listened politely to her explanation of the last few weeks. He was mildly disappointed that she hadn't graced another with her voice but at the same time also glad, it made it his little secret so to speak and there was something to be said for that within a dream!

"I am glad to have provided you with some company, I cannot express my disappointment at so few being graced with your presence. Although I must admit that being so nocturnal will do nothing to assist you with such a predicament," he pointed out wisely.

He was interesting, much more then she could say about herself. Amorette observed his body language and expressions carefully; she was making a poor attempt but an attempt nonetheless. She was unaware of the full meaning of certain expressions and even if she understood what he was doing, she didn't completely understand this 'sheepish' expression. "Swoon?" Looking down, Amorette questioned the meaning of this word. To swoon is to fall head over heels? She felt her cheeks turn a rosy pink but she was embarrassed that she couldn't completely grasp the meaning of the word. "I understand what the term means but not completely sure why I would swoon about you being a doctor." Pausing, Amorette laughed uncomfortably but wondering why she couldn't grasp the meaning of a simple word.

"I guess if I really had fallen head over heels that would have hurt a little. So yes, I probably would have required your assistance because knowing me, that would turn out bad... No need to apologize. Your logic makes sense."

Glad that they had returned to a more understandable topic, Amorette smiled as she replied, "This is true. But then I wouldn't have met you? So being nocturnal must not be all too bad." She wasn't even aware that she had suggested something with her last few statements. She really did enjoy his company and even though he thoroughly confused her sometimes, this was a good thing.

'Swoon' wasn't a word? For a brief moment his expression clouded at this revelation, or rather at the uncertainty. He had been fairly certain it was in their vocabulary but perhaps he had fallen into the habit of speaking in a rather 'old fashioned' style as the occasional patient had accused him of. Perhaps that was the reason for her confusion, the word was probably old fashioned and rarely used by the young bucks that should have graced her presence. For some reason this thought made his expression cloud a little more and his brow furrowed for a brief instance. Alright - so clearly he didn't like the idea of this particular mare being the attention of many stallions; especially the randy prats that existed.

Dream or not, it was inappropriate.

Aware that he was becoming terribly antisocial, he banished the thoughts from his mind and discarded the frown with it. His expression shifted, relaxed and his wry smile returned. Returning his gaze to the mare it was only then that he took note of her discomfort and pursed his lips. Evidently he needed to study a little more, the manner in which he spoke was inappropriate and confusing for the locals.

"Well," he cleared his throat to rid himself of the remnants of guilt threatening to rise up into his chest. "I suspect that most mares would swoon moreso over the heroic nature of the profession as opposed to the reality of it," he confessed. His wry smile deepened somewhat at this. she was certainly not the average mare... She was even so naive as to be unaware of the usual stereotypes; it was both endearing and bizarre which was saying something considering what he was!

Nevertheless as the conversation continued and the subject drifted onto more comfortable material he listened politely to what she had to say. It was with a start that he picked up on her remote suggestion even though she may have been naive to it. He released a very soft groan at this and closed his eyes as he gathered his thoughts. It was best that he didn't read too much into this, she had only met him twice and as such her remarks were completely innocent.

"Yes," he murmured softly. "I suppose you speak the truth, our meetings may not have occured if you did not wander in the evening," he continued. His expression shifted and he opened his eyes once more, ever one to maintain his composure, this would be no exception. "But I would still argue that case that your beauty should be experienced -" he halted abruptly at this and shook his head. That was definitely not the word he wished to use! "Your beauty should be admired by others, you are worthy of much more attention than just mine," he pointed out in a low voice.
