Has it ever occured to anyone other than myself that all the true hard core YYH fans are all in their mid 20's? I myself am almost 18 now and it just made me realise that most people i know who watch yyh over and over again are all the people who grew up with it as kids or teens. Anyone else notice this? [[not baised on fact, plz don't shoot me]]

I guess I haven't bothered to pay attention -- but as I'm in my early twenties, myself, you may have a point. It has to do, I think, with when the manga was published and when the series was aired. It's clearly an older series these days, and I have at least one friend who said that if I hadn't gotten him interested, he wouldn't have given it a second look because the animation wasn't what he's used to now from anime.

Mmmm, well, I'm 17, so obviously it's not as if all YYH Hardcore Fans are in their 20's. However, it does make sense that it would be the majority. It was popular during their time, after all.
The Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action movie, if successful, should bring in a younger crowd...I don't know how to feel about that.

*patpat for havishanta* No one's knocking you. ^^ Never feel excluded!
I'm . . . not sure what to think about the live action movie. I have enormous trepidation. I mean, usually I'm laid back and can appreciate movies even when they differ significantly from the source material, and can even shrug off changes that send other fans into frothing rage, but YYH may be the one fandom in which my objectivity fails. I'm afraid of hating the movie, and thus afraid of seeing it. >.>
In any case, it's possible it WILL bring more young fans to the show, depending on how it's pitched and what the overall tone is -- but given that my merciless imagination has already supplied me with a vivid premonition of an enormous influx of 12-year-old, starry-eyed fangirls and their OOC chatspeak pr0n, I think I fear that, too.

^^ Awww, thank you!
I was actually excited for a live action YYH movie just to see what they do with it and what they do with the characters. Though I tend to get really nervous with movie remakes and live action movies because I am one of those people that DOES get annoyed when people change things up. But I do think a YYH has a lot of potential.
However, that does worry me now that borderline_mary brought up the point that more fans isn't exactly good. Think of how many more poorly written fan fics there'll be. How many girls will be screaming about the movie and know NOTHING about the series. I think I would cry...lots of tears of rage. And get my typing fingers ready...for flames. Lot's of 'em.
But on a brighter side, at least I could drag my friends to the movies to see it with me.

It was the same thing when i went to see the DB live action, but it was alright. And yes the movie, if a success, should widen the fan base and popularity in the younger croweds

It's DEFINITELY not younger crowds I'm worried about. That would make me very happy actually. I have few friends who remember the show from way back when it aired, and even then none that'll listen to me rant or have a good-hearted debate with me. v_v;
So I think it'd be great to attract a younger crowd. Wouldn't it be amazing if YYH carried on through the ages? ; D And then when I'M in my late-teens/mid-20s, I could go around and help kids out with THEIR poorly written fan fics. ^^ Ah, what a wonderful cycle.
Though I am worried about the fangirls. borderline_mary has brought shivers down my spine. Chat speak in a story. *shivers* It brings me back to good old quizilla, previous home to Mary-Sues, OOCs, and chat speak. That is before the site was redone and those stories were lost. THANK KOENMA! : DDD

But if the live action movie comes out more and more people will be able to rant with you, the same thing happend when the dragon ball movie came out.

Yeah, but the thing is they won't watch the ACTUAL series, they'll just watch the movie and then think "Oh yippey kai yay! Look at me! I beeth so smart and awesome cuz I watched a movie! Oh look! Debates about Hiei's age! Well, he looked down right 15 to me! Yahooooo! Wait, he's 100! Naw! You ppl are SIIILLLLYYY!"
Okay, sorry for the random chat speak and implied Southern accent. That's just how it turned out. ^^;

No, not the bad fics! Anything but that! PLEASSEEE!!!!
What Havi said was true though--People will think they're all cool because they KNOW the series because they saw the movie. But, there could be a possibility that non-fans won't see it because it doesn't look like something they'd watch. Exhibit A, I had no desire to watch the live-action DBZ movie because I wasn't into it.
Or, on a brighter note, people who see it would want to see the series. To get a better idea and if they liked it. biggrin
Ah, but what if the movie wasn't good? *knocks on the wooden chairs near her* There could be haters. >_>
On another note, what do you think the movie will be on? New enemies to meet up against the boys? Which is what it's probably about. And what about the weapons and what-not?
Hmm....I'm gonna be thinking about the graphics and what-not now. XD

 Yay! Here's your cookie! : DDD (Sorry, inside joke. ^^; ) Well, they could do a super awesome AMAZING job with the movie... But at the SAME time, they could also make people wretch, YYH fan or not. What I'm playing off of is the AMAZING Star Trek movie that came out and Twilight...which by the way I hated. Star Trek material is best case scenario. They had an enticing story line. Great jokes and gimmicks. Held true to the fans. Twilight...was just terrible. It didn't hold any relevance to the book. Fans raved about the movie rather than the BOOK, which although I am not a "Twitard" and actually am NOT a big fan of Twilight, I still thought the book was 1000000000000000000x better than the movie. And yes, I did just keep pressing the zero button until I got bored. I really have no clue how big that number is. Nor do I care. (Ah for the heck of it, 18 zeroes, what does that put us at? Much bigger than 1,000... ) I want the movie to hold true to the series and to have great GRAPHICS and to LOOK like the makers had FUN with it and to have JOKES that only fans could get then jokes that EVERYONE can get. I want it to be amazing! Not like Twilight with screaming fans that rave about the movie and write fan fics based solely on movie knowledge. In the name of all that is good, NO!

I guess havishanta has a point. people do tend to think they know everything after seeing a live action. the same thing happend with death note and a friend of mine... well anyways he thought the he was the biggest fan of DN out there untill i started talking about the manga and he was like what?
anyways i'd really love to see more YYH fans pop up because of the movie and hopefully that will encourage more to watch the anime or read the manga.

Welll... Since the series is like...over 100 epis long, I doubt they could fit the ENTIRE thing into a movie. I mean, DN was only like, what? 30 episodes or so, and they changed the storyline to make it fit into two movie. I guess they could have a movie for each arc... I really don't know actually. What comes to my mind is some sort of spin off, like the current YYH movies. So yes, new enemies. v_v; As for for the technology...hmmm...I'm thinking they'll use a colored carboard box for Yusuke's Spirit Gun...ummm...a rope for Kurama....a lightsaber from Walmart for Kuwabara...and group of highly skilled Chinese dancers in a dragon suit for Hiei. Just kidding! ^^; Nah, digital computer graphics all the way. They'd probably just have Yusuke point his finger, wait for five seconds, then have him movie again during filming. Kuwabara will probably fight using a wooden stick as a prop so they could get the sword shape. Kurama MIGHT use a rope. I think Hiei's will be just like Yusuke's...stand there for five seconds, then move. I'm thinking if they have REALLY good graphics, we could get quite the number of viewers and attention.
