((Going strictly off of the description of Sandpainter Canyon in the geography thread.))

Glancing through the sparce trees, Zulimar could see the rock bridge that signaled the center of the Canyon in the distance. Not having any pressing urge to go to see the bridge he saw on a regular basis however, he opted to visit home another time. Turning away from the view of the vast lake in the middle of the Canyon, he scanned the treeline for signs of his familiar, Suko.

'Wonder where she got off to this time...I hope she hasn't angered a chupacabra again...' he thought to himself.

He took a moment to appreciate the area around him. It really was a nice day, and the few trees growing around the sides of the canyon added a nice touch to the scenery.

Buildings carved out of the rock face were visible across the canyon, faintly, and Zulimar wondered idly which species had done the work, and when.

A twig cracked and suddenly Suko was attached to his head, making him tip forward the slightest bit. The tiny monkey chittered at him and offered a sparkly piece of granite proudly. He accepted it with a dry 'thank you', now used to her tendency to pick up anything remotely interesting.

Two female Painters, a young gray Common and a green Aviadracus, walked side by side as they returned from the canyon. It had been a good trip, the fruits of their labor nestled in a bag the Aviadracus wore about her multi-colored neck. The grey female spotted a P’an-lun nearby, and the sight of his familiar reminded her something.

“ Tante Carre’, please wait. It would seem that we’ve lost Vervada.”

The Aviadracus, “Tante” Vieux Carre', came to a halt and looked behind her. Sure enough, her companion’s little familiar was no where to be seen.

“ Al-right suga’, we’ll wait he-yah (here).” She drawled. Looking to her side, she finally noticed the other P’an-lun and the little monkey on his head.

“ Well ain’t that the cutest thang ya’ eva (ever) did see?” Nudging her companion, Carre' sauntered over to the blue P’an-Lun. “ What’s dat little un’s (one’s) name?”

Zulimar whipped his head around to stare at the two painters who had 'sneaked up on him'. (So much for his self-declared 'super senses'...) In so doing, he sent Suko flying off of his head, much to her displeasure.

"Ah, you startled me." he exclaimed, turning back to look for his now missing pet.

Suko came leaping back at him, chittering angrily and retaking her place on his head, this time not being careful to not yank to hard on his hair and ears. (That hurt, you little imp!)

"Eh, her name would be Suko," he introduced, "if she offers you something, take it. It's not worth offending her to not, and you can throw it out later. She won't remember it after five minutes...who might you ladies be?"

Her bright eyes searched the land around her, as one of her Familiars, a happy, dancing Kokopelli played a soft tune. A dire owl soared overhead, letting the wind dance through her feathers, as they sliced the air.

Isis watched. She was usually amused by her familiar's actions. They loved to play and search around, and once in a while she'd join in the fun with them. But today, she only wanted to watch.
"My Lady, there is a trio of other painters this way, if'd you like to follow. I recognize one very well, please come," the dire owl, Anise hooted. Her beak didn't move, but the words were heard clearly. She soared over to one of the many trees, and perched herself neatly among the branches, watching the painters.

Isis didn't ask questions and decided to follow. The Kokopelli ,Tomo moved his feet in rythm beside Isis as he too followed. It wasn't long before Isis came upon the trio. A wide grin spread across her face as she recognized Nasuada. "Sis, it's been a while," she said in a friendly tone, then to the others, "Hello, and who do I have the pleasure of meeting?"

Elizabeth walked lazily amongst the trees that lined the Canyon. It was truly a beautiful view. The vast lake spread out and untouched, looked like a sheet of glass that sparkled no matter which way she moved her head. Her eyes were reflected back, as she stared at herself in the water. Liza was hoping she'd find her familiar, Camilla wasn't one to wonder off for this long.

Camilla stalked a small Chureep, as she hid behind a fallen log along the treelines. It was colored a blue-gray and had a white pattern running along its body. A low inviting purr came from deep inside Camilla's throat, as she watched with curious eyes. She had never seen such a tiny creature, and its hopping around amused her so.

“ A lovely name indeed. But beggin’ ya pardon, I seem ta ‘ave lost my mann'as.” Stretching her wings slightly, she gave a bow as she introduced herself. “ I’m Vieux Carre’ – Carre’ will do – and my companion here is Nasuada.”

Nasuada turned when she heard a familiar voice, wings twitching in excitement when she caught sight of her sister.

“ Isis! It’s good to see you.”

She trotted over to her broodmate’s side. “ I came here with Tante Carre’,” she paused, her tail flicking to indicate the Aviadracus,“ to do some trading. Have you met her? Grendel’s human recently introduced her to us.”

Meanwhile, Nasuada’s Chureep, Vervada, was experiencing a dilemma. A rather friendly purring had attracted her attention, but the source almost gave her a heart attack. She waivered uncertainly, jiggling on her large feet as she tried to determine whether or not the feline was a threat.

"I'm afraid I haven't yet, she sure does seem a fun one though," Isis said as she noticed the vibrant colors that formed what looked like a mask around her eyes, and many beaded necklaces below on her neck. "Trading? Now that must be fun, especially if you get to travel around the lands."

A slight smile spread across her feline face, as she noticed the end of Vervada's tail. Camilla studied the Chureep for another moment, before she playfully whacked at the Chureep's fluffy end of her tail. The little creature was cute as she hopped around on her large feet.

"Oh where could she have gotten to?" Elizabeth grumbled to herself as she wound in and out of the trees along the edge of the lake. She was worrying more now than ever. What if she had enraged a Chubracabra? Or worse, another Painter! The possibilities were worse when she thought constantly about them. Elizabeth was too engrosed in her thinking, she almost walked right into the middle of a conversation, "I'm terribly sorry, that was my fault," she said as she stopped abruptly in between an aviadracus and a male Pan Lun. Both caught her attention, but one got her more than the other. Elizabeth hadn't seen another one of her species in a long time, especially out and about such as this.

Vera flew through the canyon she spotted the party of painters. She smiled and flew over, she loved meeting new painters. She touched down gently on the dusty ground. Sure not to kick up too much dust. She did everything with a lot of thought and care, even how she landed."Don't mind if I join you," she said as more a statement rather than a question.

The dark violet colored Aviadracus sure was a sight to see, especially the contrast she made against the bright blue of the sky. Her body moved with grace and elegance as she circled the skies, looking for anyone to meet. Being a social one, Selenium usually stopped to chat. Her wondering emerald eyes picked up on a group of Painters who looked like they were having a party. They could've been; there was pratcially enough of them. Circling twice more, Selenium landed in a liquid grace only a few feet away. The nearest painter was a chocolatey brown colored female. "Hello, you sure a pretty one," she commented in light tones, with a small friendly smile.

"Hello," said Vera with a smile, "How are you on this fine day?" She was happy to meet a new friend. Vera loved seeing new faces. She admired the blue and purple Aviadracus's beautiful colors. Since it was something that lacked herself. "What is your name?" she said calmly to the newcomer.

Selenium smiled warmly, "I'm wonderful today, thank you for asking. And how are you?" she asked with pure curiousity. She like getting to know others and what they liked, and the such. "How rude of me, I'm Selenium. And may I ask, what is your name?" Selenium looked the female over. She'd never seen one that looked so earthy, and she couldn't but help to feel a bit envious.
Her own colors suggested she was a fun, cheerful gal, or so that was the usual first impression. But Selenium's first impression of the chocolate brown female was she looked wise, kind and warmhearted. The type that got along with everyone. Letting her thoughts trail off, she forgot about her mind ranting and waited patiently for her to answer.

"I'm lovely, I just came back from a flight around the island. Selenium, what a beautiful name, after the element, am I right? My name is Vera. You've probably never seen me before, I tend to hang out close to crater lake, well on the banks of it," she said with a throaty laugh. She had a feeling that she and Selenium would get along very well. "Shall we join the other painters?" she asked politely.

"Oh a flight sounds lovely, I was just doing that myself before spotting everyone here. Thank you, and yes you are right," Selenium nodded, "Vera. I like that name, it's beautiful. I never venture here much, so no I haven't seen you before, but it's nice to finally meet someone such as yourself," she curled her tail around her front feet and sighed. It was good to talk with someone whom wasn't a wild crazy Painter. "Yes we shall," Selenium gave a feiendly smile and moved to go near the others. But she stopped and waited for Vera to come with her, because it was rude to leave a new friend behind.

As she walked over to the group of painters she asked," you said you never ventured here much. Where do you tend to venture?" She was curious but also she wanted to know where she would likely find Selenlium again. She wanted the blue and purple dragon to meet a good friend of hers. As well as share some great experiences. Vera swished her tail as she walked and took bold but not invasive steps.

Selenium nodded and thought for a moment. She really never stayed in one place, she liked to stray about, always looking for new things to be discovered. Then it came to her, there was one place that was as familiar to her than her own wings.
"Scrub forest, it's beautiful in the mornings. You really should come see it sometime. During the sunrise, everything is sprinkled in dew, and the moment the sun hits it, the plants and rocks all light up in colors. It's purely breath taking," she walked beside Vera falling into step with her. "I live among the tree tops, it's just south of here that way," Selenium looked over her shoulder and pointed with her tail, swishing it lazily to the south.

"It sounds wonderful, I've flown over it a few times. I've always wanted to see those beautiful sunrises and sunsets. My friend Floyd spends a lot of time there. You pick a day and we should fly over there sometime." Vera smiled. "Would you come visit me on the banks of cater lake sometime? It's really lovely this time of year and there's plenty of exotic fish to catch."
