Amelia: C Leon: Are ya the new recruit I just wrote the records for? ... what was yer name again? *sifts through records nervously, he has so many* Amelia: There's no one else in here, is there? (: And it's Amelia. Leon: There's another name.... I guess yer not Aran now, are ya? Amelia: Uh, nope. o.o Leon: 'Melia? My name's Leon... I'm the Lieutenant here...I wonder if ya met Cap'n Dan yet... Amelia: Captain Dan? No, I haven't yet. I sort of just got here. Leon: I see. Hm... yer a General by that armor... yer a strong lady, ain’t ya? Amelia: Yep! (: I don't wear as much as most of them, though, I don't think... I kind of hate the restricted mobility. Leon: ... well, ya look like ya would fit right in if ya know what I mean... *smiles* We ain't 'conventional' amongst Watchmen. But I kinda like it that way for personal reasons. Amelia: Really? Well, that's good to know. I don't know much about you guys, other than that you're to defend the country and such... Leon: Yer gonna learn a lot when ya stay here for a while, 'Melia. And... also... this is between us, but don't get scared of old Chickenwire. He looks at all our recruits with that face. Amelia: Yeah, that... I'm sure he's fine. But he'd better keep that stupid piano wire away from my neck. I mean... I hate to imagine being on the receiving end of that thing... Leon: I know what ya mean. Near scared the livin' daylights outta me when I first saw him disarmed. That's when he uses it, ya know. Amelia: Y-Yeah... I haven't really gotten to know any of the others, though. I guess I've got my chance now, though! Hah... Leon: Well, gettin' to know us all is is parta bein' in our group. Welcome to the Watch, 'Melia. Amelia: Right. It'll be good to get to know you guys. (: Thanks for the welcome. Leon: And give my regards to Lord Rhys. He's the one who I fought them brigands for the ring, right? Amelia: Oh? Of course. And he's not a Lord, remember? Leon: Right, he ain't a Lord... Amelia: Right! (: Just a normal Bishop. Thanks for the help back then, by the way. I hadn't known what you guys had to do, but... yeah, thank you. Haha. Leon: It ain't a problem at all. I was repayin' a debt and protectin' my friend. Now if you'll 'scuse me, I got more records to file. Amelia: Oh. I see. Uh, right. Of course. I'll get out of your way. Leon: *smile* Nice to meet ya again, my newest Constable. 'Member my name now! Amelia: Right, Leon! I better go see about receiving my orders for today. Bye!
B Amelia: Leon? There you are, I've been looking for you. Are you all right? Leon: I be fine.. but... yer injured yerself ya know! We gotta be careful when we face them kinda numbers. Amelia: Trust me, I'm fine. I got healed up right away. No scars, either. Leon: Eh, Magnet might've fixed us up, but it ain't makin' us any more energetic. Exhaustion will finish ya quick. Not that I'm tryin' to scare ya, of course. Amelia: I've rested plenty! I mean, I'm here at work, aren't I? Leon: I suppose I shouldn't be tryin' to baby ya, but I can't help it none! I know yer a darn fine warrior, believe me! It’s just some kinda habit of mine. I'm a leader, 'Melia... I gotta protect my subordinates. Amelia: But that's the thing, I don't NEED protecting! You said yourself I'm a 'darn fine warrior,' so I shouldn't have to be babied at all! Leon: Listen here. The finest of warriors can't do everythin' by themselves. If we could... we wouldn't be needin' followers. Amelia: Yeah, but... Leon: We're human, 'Melia. I ain't worried 'cuz yer a nearly new recruit, or 'cuz yer younger than me. I'm worryin' 'cuz... yer one of us, ya know? Yer irreplaceable. Ya mean a lot to all of us... Amelia: I... I see. ... Thanks, Leon. I never properly thanked you... back at that battle, did I? Leon: .. no problem, really. I'm just doin' my duty as an officer and a friend. … Wait, ya see me as a friend, right? Amelia: Heh. Of course. I don't think you would've gone and kept me from being killed if you weren't my friend, would you? Leon: ... I suppose not. But there's another reason besides that. I hope ya dun' find me selfish... but... ya see... I wanna be Cap'n one day, just like Dan. And... well... I've got a question for ya. Amelia: A question? Go on, I'm listening. Leon: When I become Cap'n... would ya do the honor of bein' my Lieutenant? Amelia: Me? You're serious? Leon: Why don't ya think I'm serious now? I dun' ask things like that if I'm not! Amelia: Just making sure, it's... surprising. Your lieutenant? Leon: Yeah. It’s what I asked. ... ya dun' want to do it, eh? I can understand. Ya wanna stay by Rhys's side and raise a family. Ya ain't married to the job like me I suppose... Amelia: No, that's not it at all. I'm just not sure about... making a decision like that this early on, you know? Who knows what might change. I mean... I thought Dad would get to be there to walk me down the aisle, and... that didn't happen. Leon: ... I know the world be a cruel and uncertain place, 'Melia. ... I won’t go into details, but I ain’t livin’ the same dreams I had when I was younger. But this one... I ain't lettin' go of so easily. ... if I watch yer back an' ya watch mine, we'll live' long enough to reach the top, won't we? Amelia: ...Heh. Yeah, I think so. You take care of yourself. You're too young to look so serious all the time! You've always got that stern frown your face, Leon, you'll get wrinkles. Leon: Wha- wha... wrinkles?! ... I don't look like this all the time... *smiles, holding in a laugh* Amelia: Yes you are! You'll do your rounds or work in that stuffy office of yours on your records and I always see you with that scowly face, like you've just smelt something terrible! Keep that up and you'll look to be Captain Dan's age within the year! Leon: ... uh... what.. the..? *speechless* 'Melia... that does it. You've gotta be my second-in-command. Yer the only one with the guts to tell me that sorta thing! *finally laughs, slightly* Amelia: Hahaha! Fine. At least I got you smiling! Leon: Maybe ya did... I guess that I forget to do that sometimes. ... thanks, 'Melia. Amelia: Hee. You're welcome.

Leena: C Leena: …. *forging, and not looking up to notice anyone* Almost… done… Leon: Hey, Leena! What are ya workin’ on? Leena: Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t see you! H-hello, Leon! Leon: This is another Energy Ring, huh? Ya know ya do a fine job. Leena: Why… thank you. I’ve worked very hard to make these just perfect for my men and women in armor. Leon: Eh? Why are ya always talkin’ about us like we’re some kinda saints? We ain’t anythin’ special, really. Leena: No, Leon, you don’t understand how much you do for all of us! This is just.. my small way of showing gratitude. And… It’s done now, just for you. Look at it! Beautiful, isn’t it? I’ll give you half price as usual. Leon: … *takes it* It’s lovely and all, but, Leena.. Leena: What’s wrong, is it chipped? Is the metal too thin? Leon: Nah, it’s just as great as always, but I just wish ya wouldn’t work on these all day, ya know? Ya need to go outside for goodness sake! Leena: Going outside don’t help you and the others in Dan’s squad one bit! What if there’s more bandits, or nomads? I’d get snatched up and you’d have to come and find me! Terrible things happen outside… and besides, I help you all a lot better staying in here and making my creations. Now… I should get back to work. Leon: … geez, Leena. Would it kill ya to take a breather?
B Leon: Leena, do ya have a minute..? Leena: Ah, yes. Just got finished making this beauty. Look at that… isn’t the diamond just beautiful? Some girl’s gonna get lucky having this on her finger. Leon: Ha ha. I’m sure of that. Now, listen. I brought lunch for us so… Leena: How thoughtful of you! I could have bought it myself of course. Leon: … so, do ya have anything to say? Lunchtime is the best time to spread rumors. Leena: I told you, I don’t gossip! Did you forget? *glares* Leon: Eeek! Sorry, sorry! *pauses, then changes the subject* … Say, Leena, ya never told me the reason why ya have such faith in all of us. Will ya ever say? Leena: Hm? Oh, I guess I can tell the story now that we have time, right? It’s kind of long if you don’t mind. Leon: I dun' mind at all. My reports are probably ten times longer. Leena: *chuckles* We'll see about that. All right, so, it all started on a normal day. My Father was at the forge while mother took the storefront. It was when I was really little, Leon. I was around seven or eight. Leon: … *nods* Leena: Yeah, so it was a normal day, when all of the sudden, two mercenaries armed with swords came in and demanded the raw gems and gold we had in the back. I was sleeping until I heard their voices. Mother told me to stay behind. Although my folks knew how to improvise when they could, these two weren’t ordinary brigands. These were trained mercenaries. They had their own arm bands and everything. Leon: Mercenaries? Attackin’ a shop to steal? That's unheard of! Leena: I didn't know the difference. To me, they were just two thugs with swords. Shortly after they arrived, a third swordsman showed up. He was huge! A living giant, I’d say. He drew an equally giant blade. At first I didn’t understand the big guy, but I think he said something along the lines of “what do you scrawny nancy boys think you’re doing here?” After that, they were so scared, they turned tail and ran, only to be captured outside by a man with wild red hair! I saw the second Mercenary try to run further, but he was held up by the neck by a piano wire. Afterward, that giant gave my parents a greeting in his strange tongue they seemed to understand. Then, I saw his insignia. My father said he was a Watchman, one of "Eyris’s finest." I wanted to thank those two for saving us, but I never got the chance. So now I work hard, in hopes that this is enough. Leon: What're the odds? Cap’n Dan and Chickenwire came to yer rescue? If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t even be speakin’ like this. It's sure somethin'... Leena: They didn't just save me, but my family too. That’s why I dedicate myself to mastering Father’s plans. One day… I’ll be able to make it all for you guys. Leon: And I’ll be there to see ‘em all, I can guarantee. I also owe someone a life debt. I ain't fallin' until I repay it. Leena, ya just keep forgin’. Yer good at it. I’ll take yer magic items with pride. I know ya put yer heart and soul into all of ‘em. Leena: Thank you, Leon… not just for that, but for listening to my story, and also for lunch… hm. I guess taking a break isn’t so bad after all!
A Leon: Leena? What’s with that look on yer face now? Ya look so sad. Leena: I’m… I’m not sad, really. I’m just… remembering. Leon: Remberin’? Who, or what, if ya dun mind my askin’. Leena: Oh… this person… someone I haven’t talked about in quite a while now… Leon: Ya hadn’t talked about ‘em? It sounds like it's none of my business. I should be goin’ if yer not yerself today. Leena: No, Leon, stay! I think… I think right now… I can talk about him. I think he’d want me to remember him… Leon: Well… who is he, Leena? Why dun’ ya talk about him much? … and what business does he got makin’ ya sad? Leena: … it can’t be helped that I’m sad. … he’s gone. That’s the reason why I rarely mention him too, because… whenever I speak of him.. my brother… Alfred… Al… sniff… I… Leon: Losin’ family… must be hard on ya… Leena: Al was a castle guard. He was so proud to be a knight, and so honored to serve Eyris. He loved his country and his city so much. He wanted to protect his family too. ... So that must have been why he chose to fight that day. There was a riot at the castle gates. Alfred fought there, and he was killed in the line of duty. This was before FEF took over, when terrible things like this were part of our daily lives. Leon: He was brave, Leena. Just like yer brave. Ya lost him and ya were able to keep goin’, keep livin’ just like he woulda wanted. I dunno why ya dun' talk about him much though. His story… it’s one of true heroism. He never once thought of leavin’ to save his own life. When I myself know a few who ain’t above that sorta thing. Leena: You… think I’m brave huh? … should I mention him more? … it’s still… so very… sniff… so very hard to mention him without… sniff… Leon: Leena, ya should be proud of him, bein’ as brave as he was... Leena: Leon… sniff… I know I should be proud. I am… but still… I… I miss him terribly. Today was the day… going on about seven years now he’s been gone. It was so hard to know back then… for all of us, me and my parents had to accept that he would never smile, laugh, cry… get angry… never again. Leon: Leena… *hugs her* you've been holdin’ these tears far too long, haven’t ya? Let ‘em out now, every single one of ‘em. Leena: Leon… sniff… sniff… … I wish… you didn’t remind me of him. You’re so… strong… kind… loyal… just like Al… you’d be… another brother to me if fate had permitted. But since you remind me so much of him… so.. much of Al.. I’m scared… you too… you might… Leon: Nah, I won’t. I won’t ever leave ya, I promise. Yer… the only family I got besides my own brothers in the Watch. I’m stickin’ around. I ain’t gonna go dyin’ before my time now. What kinda family would do that knowin’ how much tears they’d bring? Leena: Leon… *shuts eyes, but no tears come out, and she pulls away* Thank you… for always listening, always understanding but, I’d like you not to promise me anything. Leon: Ya dun’ think I'm a man of my word now?! After ya went an’ turned my armor into a handkerchief! Leena: But… if you promise you’d always come back here- Leon: I mean it now. Dun’ tell me that I might get killed, 'cuz I won’t. I ain’t fallin’ to Eyris’s lawless buffoons. My promise stands… I'll never leave ya. Leena: … Leon, take this. It’s the first one I made that has the right magical strength inside… Leon: Eh? A Knight Crest? Ya know I ain’t ready… Leena: If you really plan on keeping your word, you’ll need it. … Leon… just please don’t do anything reckless… Leon: I’ll try not to. And I’ll get strong enough to use this soon. I’ll grow strong enough not to fall in battle so yer not streamin’ tears for me too. Leena: Yes… *shuts eyes and smiles* and I’ll be there to help you, Leon… any way I can.

Isadora: C Isadora: Okay, Leon. Let's start with the basic. Leon: Eh, basics of... what? A sword? Heh. I've held heavier weapons than that, Milady. Isadora: You mean a long sword? Leon: Lances, axes. Isadora: Ah... Leon: Both are easy to handle... Isadora: Well, I wouldn't say it's easy handling a sword. Leon: Eh? What do ya mean? I heard they’re light... it can't be that hard. Isadora: That's true, but- Leon: Let's spar with 'em. I'll show ya how strong I am! Isadora: What? But Leon- Leon: C'mon now, we ain't gettin' any younger! Come at me! Isadora: Leon, I refuse to attack you first. Now, let's just start the- Leon: Eh? I see, yer lettin' me go first since ya think I'm inexperienced? I'll change the way ya think of me. *swings* Isadora: !!! *dodges and swings her wooden sword to smack Leon's bottom* Leon: *flies forward* Wha... what the?! *faceplants* Ooof. Isadora: Leon, are you okay? Leon: Ugh... .... I... I'm never underestimatin' swords again. Isadora:... Leon: Say... that's quite an... arm, if ya bested me so easily. I'd love to learn from ya. Can crew can do that for non-guild members? Isadora: As I was trying to say, swords maybe light, but they are swift weapons to handle. However, I would love to teach you how to use sword... Just as long as you don't rush in. Leon: *gets up, dusting himself off* Believe me, Milady, I ain't makin’ that mistake twice.
B Leon: Lady Isadora? Yer trainin' with a sword again I see... Isadora: Why, yes. I have to keep my strength up. You'll never know when will the battle come. Leon: Hm. I've never learned how to use swords... Isadora: What? Have you forgotten all the basic lesson I taught you earlier? Leon: It's just... well, I haven't used it in real battle! The battlefields... mostly the riots... can’t be compared to the trainin' grounds. Isadora: That is true. In training, you have nothing to worry about. But during battles and riots, it's about whether you are going to live or die. Leon: Not only that. If they're rioters, ya gotta worry about findin' a way to spare ‘em. Isadora: Yes, life can be cruel to us who wield the weapons. When given a weapon, we can't make decision of who will live or die during a fierce battle. Leon: But when we joined the armies or squads of the Watch, we knew about makin' those types of choices. This path was our decision. And that's why I'm gonna protect Learania an' Eyris. 'Cuz here, we're free to make the choice to fight. We ain't forced to do anything. Isadora: Yes. We are given the choice to spare their lives or not. But do you remember the battles with the Learanian Heroes? Leon: ... I remember 'em. We had a hard choice to make... but I... I didn’t want to lose anyone I loved. So I struck the Dread Reaver. I never thought 'Melia would finish him. All I cared about was protectin’ her, because she's part of my family now. She's like the sister I never had. Isadora: Exactly. We each have our own reasons to fight, even if we are forced to kill. I have slain hundred of my enemies before me. All in the protection of my homeland and the people surrounded me. However, it has also sadden my heart to those that I slained. Do they have families and friends that care for them? Do they have futures that they want to achieve their goals? Are they different from us? These enemies we fought.... They are not different from us. We are all human beings, struggle to protect those that we hold so dear. Leon: Yeah, I know that. I knew that we were fightin’ human beings since I took my first knightly oath. I know they ain't like the trainin' dummies, without emotions... But they we’re people too. They knew that when they started fightin'. Isadora: Yes, but these enemies we've fought are either arrogants or being greedy to their own desires. They do not have the compassion like us toward our enemies. They never stop to think of why we battle out. All they care is to gain their goals. Greed. Ambition. Even desire. They are the monsters that loom inside our hearts. A force to driven us into destruction. I do not blame them for not being taught of compassion or merciful to others. We were taught in our page years in order to remember the code of the knights. It is sad to see those that have lived in harsh situation and never learn about compassion. Oh, I'm sorry, Leon. I guess I dabble a bit too much about compassion. Leon: Nah, I understand. It's how ya see things, ain't it? But ya know, I dun' regret fightin' one bit, no matter how true yer words may be. When ya battle, ya risk yer life, no matter who yer facin'. Everyone who fights understands that, no matter where they come from or what they believe. Isadora: That is true. We risk our lives in order to save those that we care. Even if we make sacrifices of ourselves. Someday... I wish we will come to the time where there is peace in the land. No more skirmishes and war to fight against. No more evil to strike fear in our hearts. And no more losing the people we can so deeply. I know that it will be a long day to achieve. However, I pray to Saint Elimine that that day will come. A day where we can all live happily and peacefully. Leon: I dunno if it'll be in our lifetime. But if it is... I'd be happy to see it. I'd fight for it... you’d fight for it too, wouldn't ya Milady? Isadora: Of course. After all, it is our duty to bring peace in our land.

C Leon: … *is filling out paperwork, not paying attention* Hm, I wonder what time it is… Sain: -comes walking in- Captain Leon! Leon: Constable Sain? *looks up, but continues writing* Is there somethin’ to report? Sain: No nothing to report, but it’s almost dusk sir. Leon: Dusk!? *looks outside, to see that it’s getting dark* … No way! Time went by too fast! *straightens his paper stack, then looks Sain in the eyes this time* If there ain’t anything new on our cases, I guess yer free to go. Say hello to the girls at the Hostess club for me. Sain: Oh no, you are coming with me Captain. Leon: Wha’... now, ya know I ain’t got time for that! I’m goin’ straight home and probably asleep. Why don’t ya do the same thing? Sain: Come on, you have to relax a little. It keeps me going knowing that I can have a great time at the Hostess Club. Leon: I know ya just visit for the female company! I can’t be seen doin’ that sort of thing. I mean… I know the Hostess Club ain’t some sorta gentleman’s club… that is to say… … Look, it just looks bad if they see me havin’ drinks and carryin’ on! I’m not a Lieutenant anymore, I can’t do that sorta thing! Sain: You’d be surprised to see who comes and visits. I actually work there as a side job. Aruna loves my charisma and wanted me to work there. I couldn’t say no to an offer like that. Leon: … Ya know, that somehow… works. … *hesitates, then whispers* Ya wouldn’t have a chance on scorin’ me free food or drinks, would ya? I’d just have one. *winks* Sain: I’ll see what I can do, but no guarantees. Leon: Oh, there’ll be a guarantee. *smirks* Gimme one free drink and another free cake, and you’ll have yer name first on the list for promotion! And that’s a promise. Sain: Uh…sure…
