One thing that had not changed about Casia's lifestyle was the lunches. She packed her own, in a tin lunchbox with a picture of the Beatles on the front every day, and this she carefully opened as she sat down at the table, pulling out a white bread sandwich with the crusts neatly trimmed off, a thermos full of juice, a chocolate chip cookie, and apple slices in a ziploc bag. The contents of today's lunch were pretty much the same as every other day, but there was something different all the same. This was a working lunch, to get some progress done on the puppet show she and Nataya had been planning.
The siren poked the bag at her feet with one shoe to make sure it was still there. Inside were some of the puppets she had made as best she could, and she had to flatter herself that they were pretty boss. For a girl with little artistic talent to speak of, her puppets looked like the Beatles they were intended to. That was cherry, but there were less cherry things to be dealt with, such as the fact that she had (Stupidly!) invited Josh to help them out, and this would be the first time she had to talk to him since what she and Jane were tactfully referring to as 'That Incident'.
She bit into her sandwich perhaps a bit too ferociously, chewing as she thought about the situation. She could deal with it. Nataya was her friend, and they were going to make a groovy puppet show, what else mattered? She would make it work out whether Josh was helpful or just annoying.

The girl made her way slowly through the cafeteria, almost passing up Casia's table before realizing it was her friend. "Hey there, Casia." she murmured, offering her friend a faint smile as she took a seat. She sat her brown paper lunch sack on the table and her messenger back on the floor next to her. Her bag looked oddly full compared to most days, having been stuffed with puppets and props and supplies.
To be honest, Nataya looked like she was only half there, and the other half of her was floating off in space. She looked exhausted, as if she hadn't gotten sleep in weeks. "I brought the puppets and stuff..." she said, motioning to her bag before opening her lunch sack. Sugar-coated plums and strawberries, a juice box, and a banana were pulled out, each sat on the table. She fumbled with the juice box a bit, seeming to struggle with the straw before finally puncturing the thin foil. She took a drink, then smiled again.

Joshua was lost in the caferia, looking for either one of his friends. Preferably Nataya, as he and Casia didn't seem to get along very well. He spotted the girl's long purple hair and headed towards her. He took a seat next to her. "Hi Nattie, Casia." He started with a smile, looking to each in turn, and taking his backpack off. "How are you?"
He took out his sack lunch--a turkey sandwich, caprisun and a golden delicious apple. "What have you been up to, Casia? I haven't seen you for a while."

"Hey, Nataya!" Casia said, giving her a friendly wave as she sat down.
As she sat down though, Casia examined her some more and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. Had the fairy always looked that spaced out? The siren honestly couldn't remember, she didn't see her friend that often anymore. "Yeah, I brought mine too." she said absentmindedly, pushing her worries from her mind and getting back to the subject at hand. She flashed the fairy a weak smile in return and looked for something to say. "Oh! Trade you my cookie for some strawberries?" she asked brightly.
As Josh sat down, she gave him a brief nod. "Nothing much." This was true. The most she had gotten up to recently was arranging waltz lessons. Other than that, her life was so routine that it was practically a bummer. "You?"

Nataya smiled a faint smile in Josh's direction. "Hey Josh..." she said, her soft voice barely audible over the general noise of the cafeteria. "'M fine....and you?" She turned the smile towards Casia, waiting a few moment as if her mind needed a second process the siren's suggestion.
"Help yourself." she said, offering up the plastic container that held the fruits, sliding it across the table top to her friend. She then went to nibbling on one of the plums; maybe the sugar would help her perk up a bit? She sure hoped so; being tired wasn't much fun.

Joshua, with his ever growing knowledge of Nataya, was quick to notice something was wrong with the fae. She was usually so much brighter. So ignoring his feeling that Casia was pretty much ignoring him, he looked at his friend. "Are you alright?" He asked, concerned. "You seem...tired. Ginger and Zemel keeping you up all night? If they are, I'll tell them--" But he never finished his sentence. He couldn't say such things in front of their sister.
His brows furrowed, as he looked from Nattie to Casia. "Something's wrong." He muttered to Casia. "I've never seen her like this."

Casia paused mid-strawberry theft. "Mmmf?" she said surprisedly, and then quickly chewed and swallowed. Looking over at Nataya carefully, she frowned. If something was up with the fairy it was really her own business, but as she was an old friend and Josh was probably not going to let it go, Casia investigated. "What's up?" she asked concernedly. "You don't have to answer or anything, but we can do this some other time if you're not feeling too groovy."
Part of Casia was frustrated that Josh had noticed this before her. She had been Nataya's friend first, and she was older, so she should have noticed first. Scolding herself, she looked for some way to justify this lapse on her behalf and decided on solemnly offering the fairy her cookie anyway. Turning to Josh, who had cut off mid sentence, she whispered "Tell them? If you have a plan, don't bogart it all for yourself."

Nataya smiled at Josh and Casia. "I'm fine guys, really. Just peachy keen." she said, trying to use her usual perky tone. She didn't want them to worry!"And no, Ginger and Zemel aren't keeping me up, honest. It's just.... I'm fine, honest." At least, she'd be fine.
"No, no, we can do it today. I'm fine." she said, bending over to get her bag. See? She was getting her stuff out, so she was totally ready! "Thanks." she said softly, taking the cookie after emptying her bag on the table. Puppets, cardboard trees and other unidentifiable pieces of varying materials fell out onto the table in a semi-neat pile.

Josh looked at Casia, and leaned forward to whisper. "I was going to say something mean. I decided not to say it for her benefit." He gestured to Nattie. He couldn't say anything mean if he was trying to impress her, especially not if he was worried about her.
"If Ginger and Zem aren't keeping you up, who is?" The boy asked with his brows furrowed and a tilt of his head. "'Zuba? If she is..." He paused. "I'll have Vinny talk to her."

Casia shot the fairy a worried look, but didn't say anything more. If Nataya said she was copacetic, the siren wasn't going to interfere. Her friend could ask her on her own terms if she needed a hand. She knew about feeling grody, and she knew that there were people in her life she could talk to when she was, and people in her life that she'd rather they didn't know.
"Okay, cool." she said, in an attempt to draw the conversation into the waters Nataya was steering it into. "I brought my stuff too!" Pulling it out and tossing it on the table, she smiled sheepishly. Her puppets were definitely amateur. "See, here's John, Paul, George, and Ringo, and this is a blue meanie." She held it up coincidentally next to Josh's face, wiggling it a bit for effect. "Josh, did you bring anything groovy?"

Joshua was silently glad that he wasn't wearing blue today, so he wouldn't be mistaken for a 'blue meanie'. He pulled his backpack from under the table. "Just some cds." He said lamely. "I know you like Beatles, so.." He took out three or four cds. "Mom says these are old--she almost made me bring the records. You know--the one's she got signed at the concerts.." He rolled his eyes, as if that'd be embarassing.
"Is it bad that I didn't bring any puppets?" He asked, looking concerned. He wanted Casia to like him--he wanted them to be friends.

"Josh, no one's keeping me up." Nataya said, shaking her head at Josh. She then offered Casia a light smile, glad for the change of subject. "Well, here's Oberon, Titania, and Puck. I've got some of the scenery and that made, too. Here's some bushes, a drumset, a stage..." She started laying out random bits and pieces out, naming them and trying to arrange them in an atleast semi-organized fashion.
She smiled slightly, seeming to zone off a bit. "Records are cool." she murmured, pretty much to herself.

Casia shrugged. "They're not gonna be much use here, we don't have anything to play them with." Since her CD player had exploded when she had met Carlisle for the second time, she didn't have anything to play them with, unless Josh brought something. The records comment passed neatly over her head; She had seen Josh's mother and she didn't exactly look like someone who had been kicking around in the Beatles' heyday.
"Well, you didn't know much about the project so I didn't really expect you to." the siren informed him before leaning over to admire what Nataya had done. How could he? He hadn't been around way back when, it had just been her and the fairy. It was she and Nataya who had been there for Antony's story, and Josh was just an onlooker who might be useful.
"So groovy!" she exclaimed, picking up the drumset. "Can I keep some of this stuff after we're done?" She looked hopefully up at her friend, grinning. "This is all super boss."
