High noon, and all was quiet outside the grey blue hyena's well hidden den. The sun hung silently in the sky , and no birds called out to ruin the peace. Perfect. The day was just Ylva, the sun and a nice quiet day. She had found a spot not to near her den where she could just flop on her belly and relax.
She drowned her thoughts out about the new stranger now taking up residence in her den. After all right now it was just the peace and quiet and sunshine. Nothing like a good day with no one to be bothered by. He wasn't annoying, he just was another being. Ylva hated to be around other beings to long, they just grated her nerves if she was around them. Call it what you will, Ylva had anxiety problems. That was one thing for sure.
But right now was all about her and the the sun. The rays warmed her pelt as she half snoozed out in the open. The worry of being stalked by something was under her. This girl could take care of her self even if a desperate lion or other predator attempted to take advantage of the situation where her guard was clearly down. She'd rip them a new hole if they tried to put her on the menu, then laugh about it.
What happy thoughts, she started to drift off little by little. Each passing second her vision started to blur as she nodded off.

Today, Dole would try to keep out of her own mind.
She knew she was prone to day dreaming. And, more than that, letting her thoughts distract her from the world around her. This ultimately left her vulnerable to falling flat on her face or dropping into pits or running into trees. Yes, she was a clumsy sort of hyena. The kind of creature that never looked completely comfortable on her own four paws.
The smile on her face, however, proved that she didn’t care how clumsy she was- she still enjoyed her life and the others she met in it. Bumping into them was a great way to introduce yourself!
Whoops. She got distracted again.
Before she knew it, she had tripped over something. Someone, actually. Falling with a gasp, she rolled right over the mass to the other side, landing firm on her butt with an expression of pure surprise on her face. Who slept out in the middle of no where? Looking back, she smiled at the other hyena she had accidentally tripped over. “Sorry!” she laughed, “I was thinking and I didn’t see you…. Are you okay?”

Mmmmm, the sunrays warmed the hyenas pelt and her vision had turned black. Dots of color had started to appear in her mind. The beginnings of a dream, but , all of a sudden she felt something hit her. Not hard, but it was enough to have her eyes peel back open in wild astonishment to see what the hell had just hit her.
To her wild amazement it was another hyena. Ylva blinked, trying to figure out what the crap just happened, just staring and listening to what the other had to say. Ylva fought back the urge to be snarky with all her might since the other had cared to ask how she was.
"I'd be better if you hadn't run into me..." Ylva's efforts failed. The hyena shook her head and got up on her own fours peering at the other, "What about you... are .. you alright?" The questioning tone was monotoned and sounded like a forced effort. Even though Ylva was annoyed her nap had been interrupted she knew it wasn't on purpose.
Still, the hyena was annoyed and it showed clearly in her cold blue eyes.

Dole only laughed. It was such a common happenstance for her that it hardly appeared to be any kind of bother. In fact, she almost looked pleased with herself. Really, though, she was just happy to meet another hyena. It had nothing to do with nearly trampling the poor thing. If she had noticed the other was annoyed, she wasn’t saying anything about it.
It was far more likely that Dole simply didn’t know the other was upset by what happened. She smiled, getting to her paws and turning around so she could be face to face with her road block. Sitting down again, her head tilted to one side.
“I’m fine!” she replied merrily, “I always trip. Just not over someone else! I really am sorry about that, you know. I didn’t mean to hurt you or anything. Sometimes I start to lose myself in thought and I just… stop paying attention to the world around me. Silly, I know, but it’s me! Oh, and my name is Dole. What’s yours?”
It was alright- things were great. Neither one had been hurt and now she had someone to talk to. So that meant it was a good thing she’d tripped on the other… right?
Something like that.

Ylva's eyes widened some as the other chuckled. If Ylva had been the one to trip over another then Ylva would not have been all smiles and giggles about it. Infact, she couldn't really think of many that would be smiles and giggles about the whole thing. Ylva's deduction of this new giggling hyena was only one thing. This girl must be insane or have a screw lose..... or just be the rare type of person that was optamistic about everything.
"Well..." Ylva began looking the new comer up and down before she started again, "Dole is it?" Ylva blinked again not sure what to make of this pleasant new comer. Ylva had meet other pleasant hyena before but she wasn't sure if any of them would be smiles and giggles about tripping. The new comer didn't seem like the threatening type so Ylva gave her name.
"Ylva," Her response was quick and short like the name. "It sounds like you need to be more alert , if you don't mind that Im direct. I could have been a not so friendly creature." Though Ylva her self wasn't a friendly creature she'd never hurt some one.
Ylva's eyes softened some taking in the none threatening hyena. She was glad there were others in the world that could be so care free. Even if their optimistic views were annoying. Though the girl could very well be insane too, the female hadn't really fully evaulated her. Ylva was betting on optimistic to a fault though. She gave the stranger a forced smile.
"Im glad your not hurt."
