There was no denying it.
Rou was lost. No matter if this portal lead to some other place of the Golden World, or to something else all-together (Master Rou-Dai had, after all, said this was not the Silver World, and it did not even occur to Rou-Shou to contest it)
After having found some berries that tasted quite good and letting his robes dry off, he had wandered in search of anything familiar, in vain. If anything, it only got worse when he finally reached a town.
There was no porcelain to be seen, for sure. No one really looked at him too funny, either, which he did not mind, but these people where not porcelain. These were big funny things in the middle of their face (it did not occur to the boy that they were noses, just like his own, but bigger), not enough eyelids, and some even had tails like cats or wings like birds !
And there was alot of vocal-noisy, but little to none projection-noisy This wasn't normal. Not at all.
The boy wandered, confused, all the way to Barton's fountain, stopping there to let the sound of running water try to calm him down, only it was not quite working. The logical thing would have been to try to stop thinking about all this and wait to attack the problem once he calmed down, but Rou was not logical.
Quite the contrary, as he was projecting rather loudly, mostly to a crowd of deaf ears.
WHERE IS MASTER WHERE AM I ROU WANTS TO GO HOOOOMMMEEEEEE crying
The young one is, indeed, rather upset and cannot stop the tears from falling. Maybe he deserved all this... for not being bold and talented like In...

Porcelain distress. Boyan knows that projection well.
He'd been shopping; preparing for exciting events to come, making last-minute purchases, realizing every time he stepped in a store that there was yet ANOTHER thing he'd forgotten to buy. Aaaah, his allowance, while generous, was hardly enough to cover all these new necessities!
And he knew his mother would ask-- "Necessities? Like those stuffed ducks?"
They were on sale! And chibis could never have enough ducks!
So it is, with a diaper bag PACKED with toys slung over his shoulder, that he encounters the aforementioned Porcelain distress.
Chaoses flying high above the crowd, as if searching for the source, Boyan breaks into a run, muddied projections of "IT'S OKAY, A GROWN-UP IS COMIIIIIIIIIING" flying in all directions as he weaves through people, brushes past them, or, as one very loud "THWACK" followed by a rather colorful exchange of profanity and frantic apologies suggests, running headfirst into them.
Fountain. Fountain. It's coming from the fountain.
With a cry (a battle cry, perhaps?), Boyan bursts from the crowd, sandals squeaking on the cobblestones as he skids to a stop in front of Rou.
gonk ?!?!?!?!?!?!

There was something... a faint... answer ? That seemed to cut the bout of mental wailing short for a moment, as the boy stopped to listen, though the same could not be said for the tears rolling down his dark-skinned cheeks.
He had been just about to think he had imagined it all (and thus become even more upset) when Boyan showed up. And, for a moment, emotion overtook everything else and, not caring that the blonde-haired man was a complete stranger, Rou bolts up and clings to his waist like a little lost child.
...Which is pretty much what he is at the moment.
gonk !!!!!!!!!!

Oof! eek
Boyan stumbles once, twice, three times, struggling to keep his balance. This, perhaps, is the first time he has ever been caught off guard by a surprise hug.
His right arm moves stiffly, trying to keep the diaper bag from swinging forward and striking the boy in the back of the head, but his left instinctively moves to return the hug.
Finally, finally, after seconds of struggling with the bag, he simply lets it fall to the ground as he drops to his knees and throws his arms around the boy.
Boyan doesn't know who he is, where he came from, or even what's wrong, but one thing is for certain. The boy's terrified, and Boyan can, hopefully, soothe him. At least, that is what he believes the boy thinks, seeing as how he'd latched onto Boyan.
"Ahhh... shh, ssh, ssh," Boyan whispers, his projections gentle. Soothing. Fatherly. Ssssssh. It's all right; the boy is safe with Boyan. When he is finished crying, maybe he could tell Boyan what seems to be the trouble?

MASTER IS GONE EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT AHHHHHHHH--
The boy forces himself to stop with his mental wailing. Boyan feels warm and safe, like his father and beloved master, but not quite like it of course. But enough to allow him to calm down. At least he was not the only porcelain in a world full of Wierd Things.
It does take a moment before Rou looks up, eyes still wet with tears, but no longer streaming like waterfalls.
His name is Rou, he projects, and this one has no idea howsoever where he is - only that he had been watching a portal with In, and his Master Rou-Dai had gone to see if other sorcerers knew what it was, but Rou-Shou was knocked out and thinks he was pushed down the portal, but he is not sure, as he only woke at the bottom of a lake later and the portal was gone.
Does Master Boyan (as he belatedly notices the chaos and seems to become rather embarrassed with himself) has any idea how Rou can go home ? Seems like he has quite a few things to ask In... stare

Ahh....
Boyan listens quietly, brow knitted with worry. He's become rather accustomed to talk of portals and finding oneself suddenly in Gaia, but Rou's story seems especially troubling as it brings old memories up from the depths of Boyan's mind, hovering just below the surface before falling back into inky black.
He doesn't know. There are others here like Rou, from this golden-jelly side of the space toast, but Boyan never was one of them. He comes from another place, another time, brought to this Gaia as a child, and he has lived his life as one of the varied, multicolor people that Rou sees all around. So this, he hopes Rou understands, is only slightly less new to Boyan than it is for Rou.
But, perhaps, Rou would like to find a quieter place to discuss this. The middle of Barton Town is a lovely place, but as Rou can see, it can be rather overwhelming. Boyan has a home some distance away, and there are other Porcelain living in the area. Perhaps Rou would rather be there? 3nodding

Golden jelly... space toast ?
...Rou seems rather lost at that point. sweatdrop
So he had been right to think that this was another world ? And he was not the only one ? That is... rather weird, he thinks. And slightly worrying. He would have to tell Master Rou-Dai about this once he finds a way back home. There has to be a way back home, Rou-Shou will just need to look a little harder, perhaps ?
If Master Boyan does not mind such, Rou would be rather glad. Some of those people are odd enough to seem rather scary to the young boy.
....Was that just a man with horse legs ? eek

That may be a more advanced topic, Boyan thinks.
But yes! That man over there has horse legs! Four of them! And those over there with the dark skin have funny pointed ears, and there are talking cats and little dragons and Boyan's granddaughters were born from stone cores which remain embedded in their chests.
They may like Rou a little too much... sweatdrop
But, come come! At this projection, Boyan holds out a hand. It shouldn't be that long of a walk, and Rou must be hungry and tired and thirsty. Boyan has many sweet drinks and foods and candies that Rou may enjoy.

Rou seems rather happy to comply, sliding his hand in Boyan's to follow. It would do no good getting lost...
...again...
...But he does admit the prospect of talking cats seems more interesting than scary. He'd always wondered what the wild dragon-cats around the little crag where he lived with his beloved Master where thinking, and while he'd learned alot of it by just watching them, it wasn't quite the same thing.

Well, there are talking cats and talking dogs and talking dragons and talking birds and just about anything can talk if you listen close enough.
Pitter patter pitter patter, go Boyan's thoughts as they walk. Most of his projections and words are silly, inane little things that make very little sense, but there's something soothing about all of it. As if he's reading a book of nonsense not for understanding, but so that the rhythm of his words will calm the boy even further.

And rather than leave him confused, like it would leave most, the whole seems to have it's intended effect on Rou - who now seems much more like the young man that he actually is, instead of a small wailing child.
That hadn't been a shining moment, and embarrassment would probably settle in later, but for now all was well.
Well, as well as it could be without his beloved Master.

It's quite some time before Boyan's house comes into view-- plain, unadorned, wholly normal.
Now, now, let's see, let's see... if anyone... is home.
He opens the door with a creak. Hellooooooooo? Boyan brought a guest~

Tsubame's morning had been spent catching up on her filing. The kitchen table was covered with stacks of photographs and several open albums. Overall, the arrangement looked significantly more disorganized than it actually was.
She had just decided that it was time to start packing it up when she felt Boyan's presence.
A guest? Tsubame peeked into the living room, wondering if this would become a regular occurrence.

And, much like all the houses he'd seen, rather annoying made of straight edges. That always kind of bothered Rou for some reason, though he keeps those thoughts behind a mental wall. The last thing he wants to do, after all, is to insult Master Boyan.
Rou himself seems rather surprised as another shows herself, and he gives Tsubame a polite bow and a mental greeting, hoping his presence does not bother her.

This graceful, elegant, beautiful, wonderful, talented, intelligent... Boyan continues heaping on piles of praise, his mind seemingly stuck in puppy-like devotion.
...lady is Boyan's wife, Tsubame! 4laugh
And Tsubame, Boyan found this Rou all alone in Barton, lost and scared. Maybe, perhaps, is there anything in the fridge with which to whip up a quick lunch? And juice?
