There's just something about the excitement in the air that makes Boyan feel like a giddy youth again. The impending arrival of two more sets of tiny feet to go pitter-patter, pitter-patter all up and down the halls. The return of his gracefulelegant wife, the sun he'd never expected to see again.

It's intoxicating. Uplifting. Energizing. All at once. And Boyan can't help but twirl in the halls, hum in the kitchen, add to the bowl of candy placed just outside the portal that hangs, inexplicably, next to the refrigerator.

And tonight... yes, tonight. TONIGHT, he's decided, will be special. The girls have been given a little extra pocket money and a gentle nudge toward downtown Barton. Melody is safe and resting in her new home. And Boyan is immaculately groomed (All by himself, for once), he has in his possession sparkling grape juice (Since alcohol is a major no-no since the incident) and lovely glasses, and this will be a romantic, SPECIAL night.

Especially since he has something very, very important on his mind... ninja

It had been a long day. Tsubame had ended up meeting Riry at, of all places, the Arena. If one were to disregard the absurdity that goes on there, it really was a lovely building. It was a bit of a hike, but they had made a day out of exploring every walkway and staircase, regardless of the missing pieces. It was a bit reminiscent of other places she'd seen, but from the windows you could see all of Barton and beyond.

As she neared home, the excitement in the air was nearly palpable. A heady emotion, but however pleasant, she knew better than to get caught up in-

Oh. That was her beloved husband, wasn't it?

Now what exactly is he up to?

As soon as she was in the door it was evident that the house was strangely quiet. Most curious indeed. stare

If Boyan had a tail, it would be wagging. And though he's in the bedroom (Where better to discuss husband-and-wife things?), that childish, almost dopey excitement can be felt as if he were shouting them directly into Tsubame's ear. Even when he tries to be a mature husband rather than silly-old-Boyan.

Aha~ is that Tsubame Boyan hears in the living room? whee
PostPosted: Mon May 25, 2009 6:51 am

It most certainly is.

It's oddly comforting; even after all this time, Tsubame's husband is still fundamentally the same. No matter how much time passes, he'll still be Boyan. And she'll still be herself. Growing up, growing old, well, maybe not the growing up part.

Perhaps it would be exaggerating to say that she wondered exactly what Boyan would like to discuss with her, but she must admit that this definitely was a step up from the closet.

So much for being suave.

At the mention of the closet, Boyan's laughter can be heard all the way on the other end of the house.

Oh, the memories! The closet... the cardboard box... That was back when they were still in the care of their respective parents, wasn't it? When, even though they were married, they still lived in separate houses, lived separate lives, and could only see each other at Grandpa Tsukiba's? Oh, memories. Oh, the horrible trouble they would get into!

However, Boyan points out, projections taking on a distinct purr, if Tsubame decides to stay and live with Boyan, they will have their own house, their own room, their own lives to live.

And they can be left all alone and take their time. So why doesn't she come back and have some grape juice?

Alone, at least, until the kids came into play. Then there would be an exciting new sort of horrible trouble.

Ah, speaking of which, it might be prudent to lock the door, wouldn't it?

Of course, of course, of course! whee

The very idea-- of Boyan and Tsubame having a home together, of the prospect of alone time as long as the "kids" were properly bribed, just the freedom involved... Boyan is extremely giddy, and it's not just because he's already gotten into the sparkling grape juice. ...Though the bubbles tickling his nose have a lot to do with the actual giggling coming from the bedroom.

Hurry, hurry! He projects. The juice won't last long, and while he and Tsubame may have all the time in the world when compared to their trysts in Grandpa Tsukiba's closet, the girls WILL be coming home eventually tonight. Of course, if Boyan and Tsubame aren't making insane amounts of noise, it won't be a problem, buuuuuuut~ whee

Well, it would certainly good if the kids were sufficiently bribed for a few more hours, although Tsubame isn't entirely sure about whether it would be a good idea to have them out too late. Barton was, as far as she was concerned, relatively safe, but that was purely on a "relative" scale. (She wasn't entirely sure what to make of the "new" children. It did make life interesting, though it was a bit of a surprise.)

Romantic or not, the wisdom of bringing glasses into the bedroom is somewhat iffy. (Tsubame, of course, prefers sparkling cider, although she admits a soft spot for all bubbly drinks that can be served in stemmed glasses.)

Well, here's to hoping the walls are well insulated.

Boyan pours a glass of juice for Tsubame (making a mental note to obtain cider next time) and sets it on the nightstand, brushing a few stray locks of hair out his face. Ack-- he hasn't really paid this much attention to his appearance in a long while. And Boyan doesn't understand how Gaian girls can handle things like eyeliner and mascara on a daily basis; it took him an hour to stop marking his forehead with the things.

But this is a special night, he reminds himself. And he holds out Tsubame's glass, a questioning look on his face. To insulated walls and...

Well. Their children, and Jumi grandchildren, and their grandchildren to come. ...Actually, is it weird to toast family in this situation? sweatdrop Perhaps they should simply toast one another.

Tsubame thinks that Boyan is lucky that he managed to keep it out of his eyes. If he kept getting the make up on his forehead, it must have been a near thing indeed. It did have a lovely effect on his eyes, but she had seen Riry nearly stab herself enough times to remove any desire to try it herself.

She raised her glass. To them would work. Cheers?

Cheers. whee

As Boyan drains his second glass of juice, he idly wonders if the thudding of his heart in his rib cage is as audible to Tsubame as it is to Boyan? His own projections take that same rhythmic quality, excitement, love, and giddiness entangled in one another, surging forward to match the pounding Boyan hears in his own ears.

When was the last time they'd been like this? Their wedding night? Even then, was it ever really just the two of them? Didn't they stay the night at Tsukiba's, and wasn't Boyan's mother sitting at the kitchen table with breakfast the next morning?

Boyan sets his glass aside (along with his nostalgia), and reaches forward, fingertips brushing against Tsubame's cheek. She really is just as beautiful as when she left.
PostPosted: Tue May 26, 2009 3:45 am

By this point, Tsubame is almost purring. She's pleased with herself and with her beloved husband and especially with the fact that they have the house entirely to themselves. It probably is the first time there's no one tiptoeing outside the doorway, out of sight but not out of mind. Definitely a cat in the cream sort of moment.

Tomorrow they could sleep in late and maybe have waffles? She knows she saw one in one of the cabinets. They could top it with the bananas and maybe some whipped cream, and then, perhaps, go back to bed.

Ah, well maybe not in that order.

Breakfast in bed, Boyan thinks, would be the perfect morning to the perfect night to the perfect evening.

Now, he leans in to kiss Tsubame, a bit unsteady and more than a little out of practice, but what he lacks in skill (at the moment), he more than makes up for in feeling.

Does Tsubame know what else would be perfect? As he poses this question, he pulls back just enough to look her directly in the eyes.

...

They should have another baby. 4laugh

Does Boyan know what Tsubame thinks of this?

Tsubame thinks that Boyan wants another baby, he has another think coming.
