The words and numbers on the page had gone fuzzy; she couldn't read them, let alone do anything with them. Ellandra blinked a few times, trying to clear her vision so that she could help Keagan with the accounts like she was supposed to be doing, only she didn't have much luck. In fact, even opening her eyes again was rather difficult. . . It was such a nice, drowsy day, and she was so tired. . . she felt like she could just drift away and doze forever. . .
Her head nodded forward, dropping down and a bit sideways to pillow on the account book (regardless of smudging) against her will as her eyes started to fall closed. She ought to be working, not dozing, but she was too tired to resist the urge to nod off. It would just be fore a few moments, not long at all. . . surely it wouldn't be. . . that bad. . . mmm . . . sleepy. . .
The logical part of her mind that told her to get up, wake up, get back to work, gulp some of that sludge if you have to (never!) was immediately bound, gagged, and locked in a closet by sleep, which continued to tug gently at the brunette, pulling her eyelids closed the rest of the way and dragging her down to blissful unconsciousness.

Keagan lowered his newspaper a little, peering over it at the girl. He quirked an eyebrow at seeing her dozing off. So much for the help. He set the newspaper aside and leaned over the narrow desk, shaking her shoulder.
"Wake up, lass. I think my boy's been keepin' you up too much at night," Keagan said softly.

Ellandra bolted upright with a yelp, blinking up at Keagan through startled and apologetic eyes. "I - oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to doze off, Keagan," she said timidly, feeling rather like the times her Papa had caught her sleeping through his science lectures. She rubbed at her eyes a little and turned back to the books, trying to shake off her fatigue enough to be able to work properly.
In truth, the reasons for her tiredness had nothing to do with Faolan keeping her up, and everything to do with what Ziazan had, of course, been spot on about - the tiny life just beginning to make its presence known to its non bio-rhythm reading Mama. But of course, Keagan knew nothing about it, and thus had leapt to the more obvious conclusion which was-- what again? Ellandra blinked. What had she just been thinking about? Never mind, she had to get back to work.

The old man put a hand on the girl's. "Nay, lass. You go get some rest. You look as though you need it. Tell that boy to leave off and let you sleep sometimes." He made a shooing motion at her. "Haddaway, lass."

The brunette blinked for a moment, then smiled at Keagan. Standing up, she gave her adopted father-in-law a quick hug and a quiet "Thank you," before heading out of his vardo and down the stairs, nearly tripping due to her inability to see straight. The walk back to her and Faolan's vardo seemed to take forever, and twice she had to stop and rest just for a moment, lest she nod off while walking.
Eventually, however, she made her way up to the vardo and spotted Faolan on the steps. She opened her mouth to say a hello to him, but instead broke into a yawn that felt like it might crack her face in two.

Faolan was resting comfortably, sitting in the open doorway of the vardo he shared with Ellandra. His back rested on the door frame, one foot planted on the opposite side of the doorway, the other leg stretched out down the stairs in an easy sprawl. He was taking a sip of ale from a bottle when he spotted his wife shuffling towards him, not yet noticing how tired she looked, and raised the bottle in greeting.
"Assa, wife! Da let you out early?" he called out to her when she got closer.

Ellandra rolled her eyes a bit at the sight of the beer - it wasn't the smartest thing for Faolan to drink, but if Keagan hadn't been able to beat if out of him, she had no hope of talking him out of the stuff. She walked up to the steps and brushed past Faolan a bit, her skirt skimming over his feet as she walked. "He kicked me out, actually," she said, slumping down to sit somewhat beside her half-dressed husband. "I fell asleep on the books," and she gestured to one side of her face, which was smeared slightly with what looked like backwards numbers and words, all in neat (smudgy) rows.

Faolan put an arm around Elle, letting her rest against him. "I'm not keepin' you up too much at night, eh? I know I'm not the most restful sleeper sometimes." He set the bottle down and licked his thumb--somehow managing to make it sexy--and wiped at the ink on her cheek.

"No, you're not," Ellandra said, tilting her head away from his wiping at her cheek. She snuggled close to him and sighed happily. "I'm sleeping at night, I'm just. . . more tired than usual." She blinked up at Faolan as she spoke, hoping he'd understand why - and if not, well, she'd spell it out for him. It wasn't that complicated of a reason, after all.

Faolan made a soft noise somewhere between a sigh and hum, nodding. "I feel like I should be doin' more, Elle. You got the hard job in the baby makin', what with having to carry the little brat around and all." He let his hand rest on her still-flat stomach.

Ellandra smiled at him, just enjoying being close to her husband on this nice, drowsy-warm day. "Silly; you will be doing more - you're going to have to put up with me once I start having mood swings - and - and food cravings, and deal with me comparing myself to one of the elephants when I get all round! I think you have the harder job, really."

"I'll just be cheering you on, wife, while you're creating a whole new person in your belly," Faolan pointed out, rubbing her stomach a little. "Being the pep squad is easy, I'm not gonna have to push out something the size of a watermelon through a lemon-sized hole later. Once our baby's about, I'll be able to help more, but for now . . . I'm just on the sidelines gettin' to watch this miracle going on."

Ellandra wrinkled her nose. "Did you have to word it quite like that?" She asked, frowning a little, and squeaking as he rubbed her stomach. "And. . . . if it makes you feel better, I could be all horrible and mean and demanding to you the whole time, would that help?" She teased lightly, before reaching up and kissing him.

Faolan leaned down, kissing back, soft happy noises escaping his throat. Eventually he pulled back, breaking the kiss, and watched her a moment, golden eyes slightly closed. "Be demandin' all you want, lass, but it's just bound to turn me on rather than chase me away."
