We're asking our Guild to "wear the lilac", (dress in purple and lilac), use the banner below in your posts and or in your signature (recommended but optional for our contest), and design a Tek-Tek of a St. Mungo's Healer to raise awareness and support for those who are affected with Alzeheimer's, or someone they know with it.

Click on the banner in the signature to be taken to the 'Wear the Lilac' thread, which has lots of give-aways and some fun stuff. Remember to dress in lilac to blend in and remember that any Muggles participating in the event have the very magical characteristics of empathy and compassion.
CONTEST!
1. Design a Tek-Tek of a St. Mungo's Healer
2. Name him or her, and post here in this thread. Optional: you can write a paragraph or so on how they came to become a healer.
3. Contest open now until May 30.
4. Prize: Choice of any item in the stores up to 2000g or a wizard's wand, plus a lilac daisy bouquet.
5. Please dress in lilac, Monday May 25th and use the Wear the lilac banner in your signature and posts.

What is Wear the Lilac Day?Wear The Lilac Day was started as a grassroots campaigns by Discworld fans after the series creator, Terry Pratchett, was diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's disease. In his book Nightwatch, the men who fought and died (and in one case, fought, died and kept on fighting) in the Revolution are remembered by the wearing of sprigs of lilac every May 25th. On May 25th, fans of Sir Terry Pratchett's novels "wear the lilac" in honor of the events in the novel Night Watch. Now, they have an even more important reason to do so - supporting Alzheimer's research around the world. What is it doing on Gaia?Well, let's face it, Gaia is one of the biggest forums on the internet. So where better to spread awareness of such a horrible disease? On the 25th May 2009, dress your avatar in purple, and go out and post in the forums. Add a banner to your signature as well so people know what it's all about. And that is it, that is all you need to do.

Name: Paraphernalia_101 House: Ravenclaw Tek/Tek Avi: Anita Patil  Healer at St. Mungo's from 1998-present Anita is cousin to Padma and Parvati Patil. Anita did not go to Hogwarts, instead, Anita's parents Punita and Chapal Patil immigrated to the United States during the first Wizard war. They chose to move somewhere safe, so that their daughter Anita could live as a normal witch. Anita went to Salem's Institute for witches and after the war with Voldemort moved in with her cousins Padma and Parvati in a flat in london. Anita is very intelligent and has always been good at potions and charms. She decided to work at St. Mungo's for the love of helping others. Anita is currently a healer in the potion and plant poisoning ward. Anita is on good terms with her family and friends and is currently dating Blaise Zambini.

Teddy Lupin became a healer so that he would have the opportunity to do research and experiments with the other witches and wizards that dedicate their lives to healing people, believing that their combined knowledge and compassion would one day result in finding a cure for werewolf bites. Teddy doesn’t remember his parents, but he still wants them to be proud of him. When he told his godfather Harry about his career choice and the reason behind it, Harry assured him that Tonks would be proud and Remus would be touched.
In the image below, we see Teddy at work on a typical day, assisting the victim of a magical accident. Healers at St. Mungo’s wear green robes (see Ch. 22 of OotP), so he couldn’t dress for the special occasion in the designated lilac hue. However, Teddy used his metamorphmagus abilities to make his hair purple in order to show his support for the cause. 4laugh

Healer: Nadia Longbottom Nadia Longbottom (named after the slovic word for hope) is the daughter of Neville Longbottom. She became a healer in order to try and find a cure for wizards who were tortured into insanity by the Cruciatus Curse which her grandparents suffered from. I see great things in her future.

Healer: Cayden Harlow Murray ( Some people should know her ;D)
During a time of war and destruction, Cay worked hard in all she did to help people to the best of her ability. When her godparents died from an unknown illness, she decided to become a healer to help those children who needed their parents. She works hard with fellow healer to find the cure for the dreadful disease. Though it was not Alzeheimer's, she still supports raising awareness of it.
Note: This is in dedicated to my Aunt Hester who is on the brink of life and death. She has had Alzeheimer's for the past five years and I miss her very much. I miss when she remembered us. I love her and I hope she will pass on soon so she can be much happier than constantly being sick all the time now. I love you Aunt Hester. <3Suze

Is the name Murray in reference to Madeleine L'engle's A Wrinkle in Time series? I'm sorry for the pain of time lost with your Aunt Hester, and I hope there are breakthroughs in healing this horrible disease soon. May Aunt Hester's remaining days be peaceful and may you have solace in memories of happier times.
