So, I'm kinda craving to talk about this series more. idc if it's melee, brawl, or even the 64 original that tickles your fancy, I want to talk about it.

I can also answer any question you have, and if not, I will find you the answer. Just try to stump me!

So, let the smash bros discussion commence. Who's your favourite character? Favourite stage? Items? Do you like items on or off? Favourite mode of play? Need help somewhere in one of the games? Want to get better? Anything. God, please, anything.

» Shiek! ;D
& Lucario is fun too.
But it's been a while I've played it,
because our wii cable something is broke'd,
so no wii.

Like the old melee stage from zelda series,
hate the volcano/lava stage from brawl
(the one where you have to
hide in the stupid cabin for lava waves).
(Hate it cause I never seem to be able to get into cabin.)

!!!!TOON LINK!!!!
There is no defeating me as Toon Link.
...unless you "Like Ike" or play without items...
...then I'm going to have to cheat...
...somehow...

My next favorite characters are Capt. Olimar and Diddy Kong.

Only the small characters fit my style in Brawl.
But, in Melee, mid-size characters are more fitting for best balance against most opponents.

In 64 Kirby was the best character, hands down.

((
For 64 my metaverse was Kirby. There's so much I want to talk about Brawl, but I don't know where to start!))

Marth, then the Ice Climbers. Those are the only two I play. 3nodding

Bourgeois- Sheik is one of my favourite characters in melee. She's totally rad. I didn't like a lot of things that they did to her in brawl, she just feels awkward to play now, but I always respect a good sheik'er in it. smile

Temple is pretty awesome. Norfair is too! I actually used that stage a lot in my counterpick (when I lose a match, I get to pick the next stage in competitive play), since it works well for DK, my main. The giant lava is actually very easy to dodge. You just need to shield, airdodge, or spot dodge it. I think you can even use the ledge's invincibilty to dodge it too. Capsule is usually what I go for to try and share it with someone and then keep hitting them in it, muaaah.

Trisk- lol. Toonlink is pretty boss. His projectiles are just too good. Ike's actually really bad though. <.< uuugh, ike. Imo, ike's among the worst characters.

Olimar and Diddy kong are tooooo good too btw.

Really? Size impacting how you do? Can you elaborate?

Kirby infuuuriates me! He's almost the best, with Pikachu beating him in air priority and making him stay his slow grounded self, but he's damn good otherwise. He can really break shields too. I'm sure timing has to be superb, but you can literally forward smash their shield to break it, and even if their finger left the z button a long time ago, the crazy amount of shield stun will cause you to be forced to get shield broken. Another way is he can just up tilt, that's when you do a grounded non-smash upward a attack, three times and then a forward smash to break your shield. up tilt in general is just too good, since he can uptilt to down air to up tilt to down air and do that as a combo for awhile to just forward smashing or whatever he wants.

Edmond- Both wicked sick characters. Is that in melee or brawl? I'm working on my melee Marth right now, and it's a lot more work that I thought. Ice climbers are really tough too. Do you know any chain grabs?

Ike is far too strong, but he is near impossible to master, for those who can learn to use his technique they can be far too killer. Ike is among the perfect characters for "dual" battles.

I hate dual battles (1-on-1 no item battles).

For my metaverse, size and weight are important only in the phase: "less is more." The majority of my opponents are Kirby, Meta Knight, Pit, & Pikachu. The best way for me to compete is play the same strategy (small rapid smashing).

So that's me, I'm a "Smasher."

But I do not not like heavyweights or superheavyweights. King Dedede, DK, and Wolf are my best heavy-hitters, in that order. Only I like having a sense of utter control. Being large or tall means being an large and visible target; being slow or heavy makes you predictable and gives the counter-attack advantage to your opponent.

That is why I love Toon Link.

Toon Link is the perfect combination of solid simple attacks and projectile weaponry.

Also I'm a "Butterfingered Fighter." Can you guess what that means?

Well, the problem with ike is that he's tremendously slow. He can only rely on his usmash to kill, since that one comes out the quickest, and has the longest hitbox. His other killing methods will be his aerials or tilts, maybe his neutral b or an aether spike or his aerial down a spike. Most other characters have fast ways of attacking, and he is limited to his jabs, which come out on I thiiiink frame 2 (60 frames per second). You can cancel jabs, but usually only into more jabs or grabs. Reason why IKe's jabs are also good, since there are other good jabs like peach's that's fast, is because his prop you up from the first hit, making you take at least a jab combo or a grab, which can lead into a fair at most.

Idk, he's strong, but once you get to higher levels, he's really easy to dodge, making him actually bad in "duel" fights.

I see what you're saying. IT's a cool way of picking characters. What stages do you play on mostly?

No, I don't really know what that means. >_<;

Maybe I should train more against Ike... neutral

It's hard to say which levels I play on mostly, I usually select random, to keep myself from feeling uneasy when it come to playing on certain stages. But I love interactive stages like Luigi's Mansion and I love building my own levels (I made a replica of Saffron City from 64 4laugh ), but my least favorites would have to be the Pikmin level and 25 M because theyare so unbalanced.

I call myself a Smasher and a Butterfingered Fighter because those were the titles I constantly earned in Melee (actually they were Smash King and Butterfingers). I really wish those titles were carried over into Brawl, I miss them.

Smashing is always better than mashing. In Melee I'd have to say, the further those smashes are from your character the better. Brawl seems to to have evened it out a bit.

I love throwing the Home-Run Bat rather than using it because it is so slow. I've gotten so used to throwing items (from 64 and melee) that it's become so natural for me to throw just about anything that I can get my grubby little hands on at my opponents. My metaverse includes only one person who knows how to play "catch the bomb" in SSB, that person is me.

Before Brawl came out I was sure my main characters would be Samus and Snake, oh how far I was from the truth.

I'm not entirely sure who i'm best with in bralw, but i like metaknight, lucario, and sonic.

In the 64 version, pikachu and fox are my best.

All of it is experience, but when you play casually, it's not as serious. two of the worst imo, Lucas and Ike are two of the best in the casual play just because of the differences, where as Metaknight being alright in casual play while being omega destroyer in competitive enough that's starting to maybe ban him from evnets, the fools.

Do you turn off any stages in random? Back when I played casually, I would turn off all stages I hated like Icicle Mountain, Flatzone, and Yoshi's Story because they just sucked to me. Not fun, so little room to run around, etc etc.

Oh, what was the butterfingers one in melee again? Wasn't it a lot of missed grabs? I'm not sure what I often get; I should really take a look.

smashing as opposed to mashing? I'm not sure about the terms you are using.

Throwing the homerun bat has seemingly rewally became the better thing to do haha. In melee it was kinda equal since it was really strong and the melee one got kinda slowed, while in SSB, it didn't do much damage and it was extremely quick to hit someone. That's actually another comparison, the home run bat in melee swing is kinda like Ike when you get to competition. It's kinda slow in casual play, but that kinda slow turns to slow especially with Melee's high speeds. Ike's the same way, with only a few options because of it.

Yeah, haha, my characters in brawl were planned to be marth, kirby, snake, and lucas, and I REALLY strayed away from that, doing loops around the character selection screen to finalize with DK, and Metaknight.

@Shadow_articuno- That's a pretty cool team that I hadn't really seen before. Metaknight is really fun imo, giving you a lot of speed and stage control, while Lucario is your more defensive based character, and sonic being another speed but even better speed cahracter.

Pikachu and fox are actually the two characters I specialize with in 64! Great choice. <3

@Pixe Saylor- Well, there's two problems with that.

One, I just looked because I looked prior, and found nothing, and the closet I could find was a Nintendo Codes thread that was last posted on decemeber on the 4th page.

the other thing is that brawl is no where in the title. It's smash. We use four different words to describe the difference of smash games in the smash community: There's 64 for Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo 64, there's Melee for Super Smash Bros Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube, there's Brawl for Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Nintendo Wii, and finally there is Smash, which encompasses all 3 of the games and does not set up limits to which games will or won't be included. This is a smash thread, thus not just brawl, because that would be a shame considering how amazing Melee and SSB are, just like brawl is. Oui oui? Comprende?

I still main Kirby. Brawl still annoys me because of the "these are not stages, they are floating platforms in front of game related backgrounds" but I still like it more than Melee AND ALWAYS WILL MERCAIN.

but with all the new characters in brawl,
I kinda stopped playing with it.
Toon link is fun too, yes
&& so is Olimar, but I suck with him.

Oh god.... here I go.
Toon Link -> Sheik -> Zerosuit Samus -> Olimar -> Ganondorf -> Jigglypuff w/ sun bonnet -> Peach
In that order. I like to be varied. :3

I refuse to play Jigglypuff if I cannot have the one with the sun bonnet... it's just standards!
The reason I list all of those is because my friends and I play an insane amount of brawl, and that's the list I go through to play EVERY TIME.
USUALLY in that order, too.

I love brawl. <3
My favorite stage is probably the bridge of Eldin? My friends and I really try to balance everything out and play in different stages every round.

SO. On the topic of "casual" vs. "not casual" brawl gaming, all I have to say is that 90% of the time when I'm hearing people talk about it, all I can think is "WOW. THEY SOUND LIKE PRETENTIOUS ASSHOLES. : D I'M GLAD I DON'T TAKE A VIDEOGAME THIS SERIOUSLY."

Oh yeah, i just remembered i liked zero suit samus too, though i'm not the best with her.

On the subject of taking stages off of random, I took off a few stages like the DK jungle one, and smashville.

My favorite stage is probably spear pilar.

Does anyone take any items off or all of them? I took off all the healing items except the team healing item. I also took of th ray gun, and the timer.
