Large paws meant a large appetite and what seemed to be an endless supply of energy. This was true of most wolves his age -or any animal for that matter- who was burning through their youth with an exuberance and brilliance only known to the young. Elijah was no different from any other wolf. Except...well, his mind rarely wandered to anything other than his studies where every fiber of his attention had been poured into since he entered the pack as a pup. Long gone were the days of innocent play, of laughter in the sunlight, and when a push of the paw was meant as a gentle gesture. The tall animal was now a nimble legged sub adult whose piercing green eyes held something within them that was never seen as a feisty pup: abhorrence.
Elapse treated him good -as he did all of the pups- and almost seemed to gloat on him the most. Elijah had long suspected this was because he was the pup the older wolf had snatched into the pack, not a product of Loki's devious adventures. Along with what pups had joined him, they were taught day by day the essential rules of the pack along with the skill that would aid them in keeping those laws pristine and true. While morals from his previous life still affected him there was no doubt that Elijah had largely substituted his old ideas for those of this new environment that had slowly become the only home he truly knew. His old home, how he loved it, and yet...yet it was broken. Two fathers with one mother where he only saw his blood father on occasion and while his mother and father kept a friendly relationship; their time spent in each other's company had been steadily growing further and further less. This meant he was seeing his father less and less, something he grew to expect. When he was snatched away from this home it wasn't as much of a shock as he suspected it could have been.
He learned quickly that pining over his lost family served no purpose. Instead of succumbing to the loneliness he embraced the pack and devoted his time otherwise spent bored wandering training, honing his skills to better serve his pack and high alpha. As a matter of fact, he had never met his alpha. He wondered what would occur upon their meeting and how he could find himself at his feet. It was about time he earned his cloak, was it not? Adulthood wasn't too far around the corner and Elijah was ready to prove himself a full blooded member of the Brotherhood.

Danel had heard tell of Elapse stealing a pup but had never actually seen it. He actually found it hard to believe; the nursemaid omega who watched the pups stealing work from the ultimate thief? But stranger things had happened, something he had long learned to accept as alpha. But now the time had come to meet this, Elijah? Yes, Elijah, that was the name. Shrewd as ever, Danel studied the glowing orb around his neck while he summoned Elapse. When the omega came, looking as if he expected a beating, Danel smiled as reassuringly as he was capable of. "Good evening Elapse. I wish for you to bring the one called Elijah before me. The pup you brought into the pack, I understand. Remarkable, truly remarkable. I'm pleased by your performance," he added, dipping his head in acknowledgment. "Once delivered into my presence, you may go. I'll have no further need of you."

When Elapse heard that distinct howl, that haunting yet demanding call, he lifted his head, peering skyward while his ears listened. His tail snuck between his legs. That was Danel calling him, there was no doubt about that, but as he stood there for a second pondering, he wondered what it was that he was being summoned for. He was never called...what prompted it now? As he started for his alpha his mind began to twirl. Being an omega, any number of things he could have done wrong, or he hadn't done anything wrong at all but was the perfect excuse for a scapegoat. His head shrunk low to the ground. The only thing that came to mind was one particular incident -the pup he stole- but that was months prior and having not been punished then, he assumed he had gotten off free. Maybe only now his alpha had enough free time to put Elapse in his rightful place.
As he came upon his tall alpha, he lowered further, hardly meeting his eyes. The smile he received...well, at least he recognized it as a smile; it appeared at first more of a snarl in the eyes of the wolf who was expecting one. But he listened intently, fascinated by the smoothness of his voice in the greeting and further into the statement. Elijah? So it was about the pup. Was he being praised? Or was that mocking? He surely couldn't tell, but as his alpha praised him something struck him inwardly, a certain pride, something he lived to feel on rare occasion in this pack, and the sole reason he stayed. While these moments were far and in between, they were real and meant the world to the smaller wolf. With a humble smile he gave a sturdy nod. "Yes sir, of course," he said, not feeling he had the right to say anything further.
With that he turned off, padding away to search for the orange youth who was as tall as him if not already larger. And he wasn't hard to find. His deep rustic coat was easy enough to see in their monochrome world, and the white swirls were light enough to spot a mile away. His only camouflage was the occasional black points on his body. "Elijah," he called softly, always meek around this pup more than he had been any of the others. Maybe that was because he harbored the guilt of brining him here. There were times he senses hate from Elijah as well, something he suspected he caused; he had the right to, after all. Elapse did not blame him. "Our alpha wishes to see you."
The youth looked the wolf over as he approached, listening to him. 'Already?' he muttered inwardly, 'That's a bit ironic.' "Thank you," he answered the omega, no longer seeing him as his surrogate parental figure, "Where might I find him?" He padded past the cloaked figure, already heading in the direction he had come, but paused to look back at him, waiting for his response. "He's...well, I'll lead you in the right direction."
They walked together in silence for some time, Elapse not even a single step ahead of Elijah; instead they were simultaneous, matching each other’s paws without thought. As soon as their crimson alpha came into sight, Elapse took his leave, slinking off to some god forsaken corner, while Elijah was left to speak with his lead, and maybe find some sort of future here if Danel would so permit it. "You summoned me, Sir?" his head bowed respectfully before raising once more.

Danel quirked an eyebrow at the youngling's question. Of course he had summoned him. But Danel supposed that would be a very undiplomatic way to start off the conversation. Instead, he simply nodded. "I had Elapse bring you here because I wished to meet you. I've heard about you from a few sources and I decided it was time to bring you into the pack...officially, let's say."
"Yes, let's say that. Of course you knew about the new addition to your oh so vaunted pack. You're just making everything official," the Voice sneered, mocking, ever mocking.
The alpha's left eye twitched but he gave no other outward sign of annoyance. That would give the wrong impression as well. "So what exactly is it that you bring to the Brotherhood, Elijah? From there we'll be able to start you down the right path.."

Elijah carried himself lightly, not quite bowing his head, but not fully erect either. It was almost nonchalant, however, his serious eyes told an opposite story than his pose. As his alpha spoke his ears swiveled forward, pointing toward him with upmost importance to every word his said, and as he explained, a spark of relief and pride slowly started to creep through his chest. Was this it? Would he finally become a full-blown member of the pack he had been raised within? Would he join the pride, the elite, and know himself as one of the strong members of the Brotherhood? Now was his chance to prove his worth his young heart so longed to express.
He had not taken notice to the sudden interruption, spotting the slight twitch, but thought nothing of it as he observed the larger male. Now for the questionnaire. He wouldn't lie that standing before the male created an anxiety that all youth certainly felt time to time when confronted by their elders, especially when it pertained to their future. His head lifted slightly as he began, "I offer strength, sir, and a willingness to serve the Brotherhood with every fiber of my being." Would this suffice? What now? Would Danel have him perform some sort of task to test his worthiness? Elijah was at the point of screaming 'Bring it on'.
