Kezia swallowed hard, her throat felt thick and tight but none the less she moved away from her stack of books. How she wished she could really read the, but for now using the pictures inside to find animals or plants would have to do. Moving through the system of cave caverns she called home Kezia looked to the ceiling above her. From the looks of the light spilling into the cracks that lit her home she assumed it was around dusk. Time to get ready to go out.
Taking a deep breathe she moved to the darkest of caverns of the cave system she called home. Her bedroom, for now there was enough light to barely see. Squinting Kezia moved slowly across the cave to the pile of fabrics she called her bed. The fabrics has all come from Vatican, the vampire lived in the same large hill dotted with caves as her. His cave system was on closer to the bottom of the hill so the light wouldn't bother him. And though the idea of what the stallion was scared her half to death. She would rather live close to him then any where else. He didn't judge her need to learn and when he could he stole books from two leggers for her.
Reaching her bed she rooted through the pile of fabrics squinting harder trying to see what she wanted. It took several minutes and finally ending up moving the piecesof fabric one by one to new place to find what she wanted. It was a large canvas bag with a strap big enough to fit over her head. Slipping it on Kezia moved out of her bedroom back to the cavern that held her books. Glancing through the room she found the book she have been working on. Nipping it gently she turned her head wranggling the book into the bag she wore using her horn to hold the bag open. Adding some freshly picked apples to her bag she moved to the cave entry. Glancing around she stopped for a moment to stare at the dusk colored sky. She could do this it was dusk it was very unlikely she'd run into any others beside Vatican.
Taking a deep breathe she clenched her eyes shut for a moment before starting down the hill towards the forest path she would use to search for the plants and animals in the book she had.

A pale gray dusting had graced the air since Vezian's earlier departure from his new temporary home. The prince was now walking glumly along a forest path, appearance slightly distressed by a day's wandering. His circlet, perhaps his sole remnant of hope in finding his lost kingdom, was tight around his now-messy mane, pressing his bangs into his eyes. Every now and then he had to stop and lean his head against a tree to put it right, receiving curious stares from observing forest creatures. He must've looked insane. The heavy green cape he wore began feeling like unnecessary weight upon his aching back around mid-day yet he refused to take it off. Funnier were the stares he received then.
His ears, striped green on green, perked at the churning of a stream, and his hooves shuffled hurriedly now towards the familiar and welcoming sound. Vezian's fondness for water was known amongst all creatures that came within contact with him. Sadly, these meetings have become scarcer in the past moon or so. The stallion sighed at this fact, but the remorse was short-lived, seeing as a knee-deep river could now be seen through a mangle of tall grasses in a forest clearing ahead. Its waters reflected the still-darkening sky, reflecting some of the first stars. With a lust not unlike that of an unrequited love, Vezian came upon the stream, drinking the sky.
Sensible hearing was always one of his best traits. Vezian's ears soon picked up nervous footing entering the forest. How did he know this creature was only entering? He saw the cliff ahead, the clearing that opened up to a slope. It couldn't have been too far, which would also explain why he heard it so clearly. The creature was equine, most likely. Four hooves with the precise amount of weight that an average-sized mare would carry. The hooves were most likely cloven; the crinkling of few leaves and fresh grass was amplified into eights. A Unicorn mare, then, huh?
Another sound was present, though, a thudding. Now what could that mean? The sound was like leather (a repulsive material Vez had found out about from a different encounter) against an equine coat. This could indicate a human riding upon the back of a horse. A human befriending a Unicorn, though? Not likely. With that clarification, Vezian was satisfied. Finished with his drink, he rose and trotted back towards the path, narrowing his eyes to better his vision in the coming darkness. There was a definite shape coming towards him. A horse, no human. A mare. And so Vezian stood with eager anticipation of this meeting.

Head down eyes darting from side to side on the path as she looked for the next plant she was trying to find from her book, Kezia's ears flickered slightly listening more for the calls of birds than any thing else. The fading sunlight was just perfect at this moment in her eyes. Just enough light to see but at the same almost not enough light. Everything seemed to have a muted glow in this sunlight to Kezia. It was light entering another world. A world she much rather prefered at times, no one to tease her here. Most of the other soq had gone off to get ready to rest or had atleast stopped wandering the forests to stay safe. Kezia knew if things came down to it should could out run any danger she met back to the caves and there she could hid.
Head lifting slightly she glanced through her hair at the sky. In this portion of the path the tree branches above were parted giving more light to the path bellow. Stopping for a moment Kezia nosed her bag open before lipping her book out gently setting it on the path before herself. Using her horn she flipped open the book, Kezia paused for a moment nibbling on her own hair as she thought for a moment about what page she needed to look for.
Shaking her head at herself, the mare started once again to use her horn to move through the book. She would stop every one and while to glane off to the side of the path or to stare down at a picture and think. When suddenly she noted something the sound of something coming up the path. Moving a hoof foward slightly she placed it gently againist the bottom of page to hold the book open.
Squinting Kezia could make out the sight of something large and green moving her way. Blinking Kezia closed her eyes trying think of she could recall any animal that was that large and green. No Eyes flying open filled with a slight horror Kezia froze another soquili was coming down the path at her. This was what she had been trying to avoid. Why was this one out now. Stiffling a whimper Kezia nibbled on her own hair for a moment before swallowing hard. " Hello" She called out hoping the other soquili wasn't a kalona or skinwalker and she wouldn't have to run. Or better yet the other soquili would just ignore her completel and she wouldn't have to interact and there wouldn't be any chance of getting teased at all.

So Vezian stood, analyzing her. She seemed hesitant, as if he'd eat her or something. Hah, what an idea that was! Vez wouldn't hurt a fly - considering it wasn't bothering him. He was more of the protective kind who'd do anything to save a damsel in distress. He chuckled at the thought. Lowly and with an evident tone of hilarity, of course, so as to not scare her off.
With another chuckle and a grin presenting itself, he began his glide towards her. 'If she doesn't come to me, I'll come to her.' She was shy, he could tell. So all he had to do was move slowly, craftily. He'd speak to her in a soothing voice and - no! An accidental snort left his nostrils. He shouldn't coax this mare into his friendship. Not this mare. Not again.
Her voice was quite pretty, the prince noted, as he heard her 'hello'. It was quite low, though she obviously targeted him. Anxiety? Fright? My, this mare appeared sheltered, if anything.
Reassured that he'd keep his chimerical antics to himself, he came upon her, stopping a mere length away. "Hello, miss." He couldn't control the suave, slick tone that he spoke with when encountering beautiful mares. His "forever flaw", he called it. His head dipped into a graceful, respectful bow, eyes never leaving Kezia, "what brings such a beautiful lady as yourself out here to-night?"
His latter question was sincere. Why would a mare, shying from his silhouette wander alone in the moonlit forest? The idea baffled him. Surely she had family, friends, maybe even a mate? The fact that they didn't stop her infuriated him a bit.

Kezia let out a small sound of relief. It wasn't a kalona or a skinwalker. So She could if she really needed to hopefully out run the stallion. Contiuning to nibble on her hair for a moment Kezia pondered over how to answer the stallions question. The truth seemed to be the easiest thing to go with. Kezia had only rarely lied in her life and it was normally to her family and they could read her to easily. They always tended to call her on her lies.....
Well they had when she still went to see them. It had been months since her last run in with her mother, father even longer since she had seen her eldest sister. She ever so often saw Forest the second oldest of her two sisters. But even Forest who had promised to protect her still made comments every now and again. Shaking the thoughts from her mind Kezia dropped her hair from her mouth as she looked over the stallion before her.
"I... I'm out a night because its more likely due to most others fear of darkness or the things that come out at night that I will not run into any one. I am...rather...Well to put it simply I am I guess one could say extremely educated and knowledge driven. Which leads to me having a more vast vocabulary and understanding of things than most are use too. And well it gets most other angry or jealous and that normally leads to comments or insults directed at me. And well I just don't like it. I guess I'm just a scared of things that people will say or think of me...."
Blushing Kezia ducked her head to hid her face behind her mane. Great just great she had just rambled her problem off to some stranger which meant now not only did she seem like a " smart arse" as her mother had called her her ramblings probably made it sound like she was full of herself... others being jealous or angry of her... she really should have thought her words out even further. They sounded unplanned out and worst of all they sounded even as if she might bit insane just blurting her problems out like that.
" Please excuse me I shouldn't have started to ramble like that. I'm sure you really don't want to hear of my problems. Please forget I rambled so."
