I'm big on Stephen King books, I read all of The Dark Tower series, by far my favorite. I'm on Jennifer Government by Max Barry (Nation States) Unrelated note: http://www.nationstates.net/heritic_isle My nation. Jennifer Government is really good so far, I highly recommend it. If you're into a fast paced story filled with murder suspense and even hilarity. Anyone else like to read? If so what are you into?

I've read a few Stephen King. My favoirte being Pet Cemetary or Lisey's Story. I also read 'Salem's Lot but I found the ending to be brief and extremly disapointing. You dont spend most of a book preparing of the final battle and it to be over in 3-4 sentances. That was a huge letdown for me.
Books I've read in the last month: 19th Wife(of Bigham Young the mormon), The Beautiful Side of Evil, Those Who Save Us, My Lobotomy, Wolf at The Table, and I am currently reading a book called Orcs.

Nice, I did enjoy 'Salem's Lot, I agree to the ending as well, but Father Callahan is awesome, and he also makes an appearance in The Dark Tower which I thought was awesome. Insomnia or Dreamcatcher are also pretty good, the former being the better of the two, just slightly. I'm a pretty big horror fan, I need to get into it again, I've been slacking. Haven't read a book since the last Dark Tower was released, not counting Jennifer Government.

I started the Dark Tower series, but 1. it's difficult to find them here in English, so 2. I had to get them in Finnish, which lead to 3. getting them from the library, which took ages to get them, so I haven't read them past volume IV. The latest King I read was Lisey's Story, which was good, and Duma Key before that, which I also enjoyed. My other King favourites are Pet Sematary, Misery and IT, also The Long Walk by his pseudonym Richard Bachman. That was so so so so sad and realistic, omg. I have to re-read it soon.
Currently I'm on Anne Rice's Lestat the Vampire. I got Interview with the Vampire years ago from my granddad, but just a few months ago found Lestat and also Queen of the Damned (and both in English!).

Nice! I'd be interested in Queen of the Damned. I never got around to reading IT, I felt, kinda... like I didn't want to cause I've seen the movie and its such a horrible movie, I know it has no bearing on the book... but still... it discouraged me. Also, about finding them in English, you ever try Amazon.com? I bet they got everyone of them, that is if you're able to order them. I haven't gotten around to checking up on the newer Stephen Kings.
I've read, aside from the one's I've already listed by Stephen King: 1408 Bag of Bones Christine Cujo Desperation Everything's Eventual The Eyes of the Dragon Gerald's Game The Little Sisters of Eluria (Has a short story in it related to The Dark Tower) Needful Things
I'm sure there's more, I don't have the greatest memory. How is Lisey's Story? This topic is the first I've heard of it. Also, if you like any of his movies, I recently watched "The Mist" It's amazing! I need to find the book and read it.

The only books I've read lately are the ones required for my English class. Just finished 1984 by George Orwell and Lord of the Flies by William Golding, now we're reading Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Though the last one is a play in book format. I liked 1984, and I probably would have enjoyed Lord of the Flies if it wasn't for all the related school crap I had to do with it. confused

His favorite being the The Dark Tower series, I attempted to read it but I was never interested. I do reccomend Wolf at The Table. The book is a true life story about a sociopathic father through the son's eyes. Stellar reading.

The War Starter Currently reading Fahrenheit 451 Wasn't bad, but I never really felt very attached to Guy Montag. He's a rather underwhelming protagonist.

Society as a whole, the collective unity of it, I feel was the true story. And I mean, come on, anyone can appreciate the genius it toook to create. The author managed to "create" a seashell device that one plugs into their ears to listen to music. Um earphone decades before earphone ever came out into the market? Brilliant.

I've read quite a bunch of King books and short story collections in both Finnish and English depending on how I've been able to find them (bought/library/someone like my mum's friend or granddad gave them to me).
I've read *grabs random King book from shelf, opens the first page with books listed*
The Shining Pet Sematary (have this in Finnish) Carrie IT (have this in English) The Tommyknockers (have this in Finnish) Cycle of the Werewolf The Stand (have this in English) Skeleton Crew (collection) The Eyes of the Dragon (have this in English) The Dark Tower I-IV Gerald's Game Insomnia (have this in English) Rose Madder Desperation The Green Mile Nightmares and Dreamscapes (collection) The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon (have this in Finnish) Dreamcatcher (have this in Finnish) Cell (have this in Finnish) The Dead Zone (have this in English) Different Seasons (collection, have this in English) The Dark Half (have this in English) Duma Key (have this in English) Lisey's Story (have this in English)
As Richard Bachman: (have this collection in English) Rage The Long Walk Roadwork The Running Man
I guess you could call me a fangirl. redface I've also seen quite a few films made of his novels/short stories, but none of them have been good. The Shining as a miniseries was quite good, at least it was accurate according to the book, unlike Kubrik's weird and famous version of it with Jack Nicholson in it.
Also, The Mist was alright as a movie, but it's made of a short story so they had to add some stuff in it to actually make a full length film. The same goes with 1408 - also a movie made of a short story. I still prefer the actual stories better. Ooh! And The Running Man (with Arnold Schwarzennegger) is on on Thursday. I've only seen it once before and I was err.. maybe 10 at the moment, so I'll have to watch it again to refresh my memory on it. Plus, I've just read the novel last year, so I should be able to compare it to the film.

I'm not that much into reading, but sometimes I can spend hours reading about greek mythology or rome gods on the Internet or a book. I also have "collection" of E.A.Poe's short stories, I like them very much. Thought I read lots of comics but I don't think it really counts.

The author managed to "create" a seashell device that one plugs into their ears to listen to music. Um earphone decades before earphone ever came out into the market? Brilliant. The scientific prescience is certainly notable, not only for the device itself, but also in the way it was described as a means of insulation from the outside world. Anyone who's been out in public and used their headphones to intentionally isolate themselves knows the truth in that.
Characters aside, the theme is pretty good, if a little anachronistic. He was basically expressing his concern over the power of a new medium of communication, television, as alienating and dulling to the mind, thus affecting society at large. This is a nice sentiment, but in historical retrospect, humanity's done a pretty decent job of not destroying itself since the television was invented. It's a good novel, but outclassed in every way by "Brave New World."

I used to read a lot of fantasy novels: David Eddings, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind (before he went insane), Katherine Kurtz, L.E. Modesitt Jr, C.S. Lewis, etc.
Unfortunately, having 3 younger siblings largely broke me of the habit (any other oldest children out there know what I mean).
