Rules 1. Contrary to what Miss Traverse said, this thread is open for all, you don't need my permission. The only condition upon this is that this thread is not a hangout. You may come at any time but only to interact with Ninja Steve or Yamazaki. 2. Pie. 3. If you do Role Play in here, you are expected to follow the rules of good role playing on Gaia. For an example of the don't of good role playing, look to the Anti-Munch Project, something of a legendary thread. 4. Setting. The setting of this thread is Yamazaki's shop in downtown Durem's Commerce Sector. Black Shadow Relics and Arms. Something of a magesmith (As he would modestly say), he generally works for high class merchants and magi making speciality magical items. His shop is usually open, though quiet, with rarely anyone ever being around. (Read next post for information on layout) 5. Keep your OOC comments to yourself. We have the shop thread on the forums for OOC chatter, plus it helps bump the shop. This place is strictly IC posting (Other than these first posts). 6. As always, the "G" in RPG stands for Game, so have fun, no matter if you're playing in here with Steve, meeting Yamazaki, or just lurking around.

Black Shadow Relics and Arms Black Shadow (Something of a redunant name if you ask the people in the street) is Yamazaki's shop, his forge, and his home. A small two story building, the bottom level is windowless, opening to the street with only a single metal door (Looks iron, but since the door doesn't seem that heavy, probably isn't). Runes are etched into the door, spelling out the name of the shop. The runes just happen to glow, shifting colors slowly from red, to white, to blue, to purple, to red, to green, and back to white. Inside is a very small, cramped room, 6 feet by 8 feet, that is dominated by a large glass display case that also serves as a counter, cutting off most of the front from the door to the back, with only a narrow space on the left hand side (Coming in) to go around. The case features some of Yamazaki's work, weapons, relics, and odd items, all of them very well crafted, though obviously intended for display rather than actual use. The backdoor leads to his workshop and forge. This place, is like walking through a disaster zone. Tools, benches, ingots of ore, are scattered all through the place, not to mention to large furnace to the back of the room, and the chute that leads down to the coal storage in the basement, from which he fuels the fires. On the righthand side is the stairs leading up. Upstairs is his home. Very spartan, it consists of three rooms. His bedroom, with a one man bed, a simple feather mattress, and a wool blanket covering it. The bed is seldom made, and is never with any sheets on it. Next to the bed is small nightstand, covered in sheets of paper, along with an inkwell and quill resting on top of it all. The next room is the kitchen, with a small stove, fridge, and a lot of cupboard space, Yamazaki must never use it, because it actually looks clean and pristine, rather than haphazard and dirty as he tends to leave the rest of his quarters apparently. The trashcan in here is usually filled with empty boxes of take out that seem to support the theory of no use. Beyond that is the bathroom, with a small tub, sink, mirror and medicine cabinet, and of course a toilet. Very small, and obviously getting to the point where it really needs to be cleaned it's hard to move around in there without tripping on a discarded towel or newspaper left behind. Wholly unprepared for new life in this infant Steve, Yamazaki's been spending a bit of time in the workshop, working on building a crib for the young one, and spending his spare time trying to clean up the bathroom, between all his regular jobs and the tasks of life in general.

Journal Entry: Autumn 47 I was surrounded by kids, when I visit my friend Rune Traverse for Halloween. Maybe she thought I needed the company, maybe she thought I'd be a good father. Maybe she just wanted to throw my life upside down. Regardless, at the end of the night I found myself carrying home Steve here. For some reason he kept crying unless I carried him in the candy bag I was using. Man this kid is loud... Temporal Ninja my a**, I thought Ninja were supposed to be quiet and sneaky. He's always crying, or laughing, or screaming his head off. Never does he just relax and remain quiet. Other than when he's sleeping, thank the gods. Sadly he only sleeps for 3 hour stretches, barely enough for me to get rested. Getting home it only seemed to get worse. This kid seemed to have some fascination with my workshop. It was more than once I had to yank him and the bag away before he ending up grabbing something sharp or otherwise dangerous. I don't think I have the skills to take care of an injured kid, after all. Probably should hit a library and pick up some midget care books... gotta do that tomorrow. When I got upstairs, I was too tired to order out, or do much of anything. Seemed Steve agreed with me. We both passed out, cuddled together on my bed, not even bothering to tuck in. Of course he woke me up three hours later to change him... and three hours after that to feed him... Neither were very pleasant experiences. I don't think I'll record them here. I'm sure Steve would not appreciate reading about it.

Journal Entry: Autumn 48 Just got back from the Library. Today was the first day you visited other kids, since I got you from the Adoption center Steve. You seemed to have a good time, very energetic and mostly well behaved. Though I did have to give a few gold to a man you boinked in the head with a rubber ball inadvertently. Seems we're going to go off and play with Rune and her children again. You seemed somewhat interested in that winged kid, Angel. Maybe they were right and babies are fascinated by feathers. You're sleeping soundly now, and I just finished reading some of the material. I might not be in as bad a shape as I thought. Seems like this will be easy enough as long as I stay sharp. Already got a door built to close off the stairs. Don't need you trying to crawl down while I sleep. Even got some baby type food ordered. I hope I can hold out til we see Rune again and this shop opens up.

Journal Entry: Autumn 49 According to the book, I just got done babyproofing my house. I can't remember the time I last saw the bathroom floor. Had no idea it was actually tile in there. I had to lock away a lot of stuff in the workshop for now, well, actually almost everything I owned. I could live down there now, if it wasn't for the need to keep Steve out, and to keep an eye on him. I can feel my life, what little I had, draining away. Even Steve seems ill at ease with the changes. But I think that's mostly because of his interesting toys are now gone. For my sanity and his I really need to find something to help keep him occupied while he is awake. Last night I found myself worrying more than I was before, everytime that he cried and woke me up. Those books sadly left out the chapters on muting the babies, but mentioned a lot of things that could make them cry in the night. Food, changing, to sickness. I must have searched him at least a dozen times to make sure he wasn't showing any signs of sickness. Seems he just likes to scream and cry. Also worrying about speech. I did not think much of Steve's lack of verbal skills. I have not heard him utter a single word all while I have had custody of him. But remembering Rune and his children, some seeming just as old, if not just slightly older than Steve, were talking. Not only that but in sentences rather than just broken child talk. Just another thing to think about really. Steve's been fed, changed, and I'm packing him up now. I think I'll go visit Rune today, see if that shop is open, and talk to her about some of these things. Perhaps she can help smooth things over again like she did in the library.

Steve's First Quest!
Wow, Stevie has grown quite a lot in the last few days, and made several friends. He seems to love candy and trying new things, too. Because he likes new things so much, it's time for him to have a quest of his own! And of course, for he and his daddy to bond. xd
Steve's Quest:
Steve must go on an outing to some sort of public place with his father, preferably somewhere they both can enjoy that is new to them both. He must bring back two momentos from this outing to be displayed in his journal.

Journal Entry: Autumn 59 I visited Rune again today. She was up to her ears in paperwork. I really feel sorry for her. Maybe I'll make her a scribe golem, if I can find the right materials. Should help with all the drudgery. I hope she appreciates the efforts. I left Steve with Rin, and the child with the white wings. They seemed really happy to see him. Sounds like they had lots of fun, at least from the amount of girly squeeling that Rin did. Must have been a lot of 'cute' moments. Makes me worry if I should take a more active role in his rearing. Rune suggested that I should go take Steve off somewhere, alone, where the two of us could bond. Sounded like a good idea, so I packed up Steve, and a sandwich, ready to take him off to Crystal Lake. Haven't been there in a while, it's fairly off the beaten track, so I wasn't surprised that there was no one there, especially this time of year with the colder weather. I started teaching Steve how to swim, he was a natural, but I'm not sure if it's because babies float, or if it's because he liked the water. Still he had a lot of fun with that. He had a nice nap, and I got some spare time to reflect and enjoy the scenery. Afterwards I fed him, and we took a walk. I wasn't surprised that Steve wanted to take back a few items. A stick, about four feet long, pretty stout. I fondly remember having something like it when I was a kid myself. Second was a thunder egg, I was a bit surprised to see one there, but Steve wanted it. When we got home he demanded that the stick and egg stay with him at all times. Right now they are arrayed on the bed, and the baby snuggling up tight to them. Really is a cute thing, I suppose. I think this is the first time I really felt like a father.

Journal Entry: Autumn 70 I visited Rune once again today. Steve seems to have grown attached to some of the other children there. Nice to see he's making friends. Is it sad when your own infant is more outgoing than you are? Maybe he just trusts people, and the world in general, more than I do. Anyways. He even gave away half of his thunder egg. I was quite surprised at that. He had been clutching to it like a miser on his last copper. He gave it to that winged baby. I really should learn its name, if Steve is getting to be good enough friends with it to give away something that he obviously treasures. He's been growing older lately, and more mobile. Seems he's about to start walking. Thank the gods that Rune finished up her inventory, or at least part of it, so I could buy a baby cage. I fear what may happen when he's fully mobile. Rune mentioned teleporting, but it seems she made the cage to block their little temporal tricks. I need to go visit with Rune again, I think. See what sort of education I should be giving the little one. I'm not sure that I would want him to follow in my footsteps, unlike most parents. And I really don't know what sort of training school I should send him off to, or how early.

Steve's Quest!
That's right, it's another quest for Ninja Steve! To be specific, a power quest. biggrin Now that he's a toddler, it's time to see what he can do, eh?
The Quest:
Steve must find three items - TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE THREAD - which relate to moving or transportation. These can be given to him by friends, or he can buy them in minishops, or Yamazaki can make them.
