An hour after landing on the island, and as she entered the shelter of the immense pine trees, Lila considered hijacking boat and going somewhere else... somewhere warmer. The young woman shivered; glad she at least had pants on, rather than skirt. Unfortunately there was no jacket, as she’s sold that and most of the other thing she owned just to buy a ticker over to this region. Pristine Island was her first stop and she was stuck here until she found a job to pay for a ride over to somewhere a little nicer. Still, her adventurous spirit meant she’d eventually explore this place, so now was a good a time as any. At least it wasn’t snowing yet.
Rubbing her cold arms Lila walked steadily along the path, admiring the towering trees around her. Her footsteps were muffled by a thick layer of pine needles underfoot. This world was a calm still one that Lila rather enjoyed. The town and harbour had been quite a busy frenzied place, it was nice to get into the wild and take in the fresh air.
But it was still cold.

A bundle of jackets known as the trainer Socks waddled his way inland to take a survey of the pokemon population in the inner regions of Pristine Island. The trainer was well-equipped, even slightly over-equipped, with layers upon layers of warm clothes including earmuffs and a scarf. A fairly bulky backpack was carried upon his back and a smaller bag was strapped around his waist for quick access.
A petite piplup rode on Socks's head. Some thin white strips of cloth were wrapped around the Piplup's left foot, creating an effective makeshift soft anatomical cast that firmly secured the pokemon's broken toes together while still allowing a decent range of movement.
"Really, I think my older sister was just getting revenge at me for using her brush to comb my snorlax." Socks said to his piplup, not caring that the pokemon probably would not completely understand him. The trainer trudged on in the cold weather, shivering occasionally and constantly holding up a tissue to his nose to wipe away his leaking nose before the snot froze.
Needless to say, he was not enjoying his expedition on this island too much. But he was devoted to his job and at least the scenery was nice. Socks believed that one should always make the best out of a situation because moping certainly wouldn't help.
"Pip...piplup?"
"Haha, forget it Shadow, I'm just going crazy from this weather. But at least it's not snowing yet."
"Pi!" Shadow agreed, snuggling her face between Socks's silky locks of pale hair and peeping at the scenery from her position high up on the human's head. Although the weather was horrible in the opinion of her human trainer, it was perfect for Shadow whose warm coat of fur did wonders in regulating her body temperature.

At least at the fast pace she was moving Lila was able to keep herself marginally warm... at least above freezing temperature. The path she was moving along was really rather beautiful. What could of job could she possible get on this island? There was bound to be some sort of food shop and she had more than enough experience as a waitress to fit that scene.
But everything she did was to reach her future goal of becoming a Pokemon Ranger. It was the perfect job where she could spend a lot of time outdoors amongst Pokemon, working hard to keep them safe from anyone trying to exploit them.
Lila chuckled. After thirteen years on the road she had finally come up with something she wanted to do for a living. Better late than never. Then again, it wasn’t like she was old. Twenty-three was damn young; it just seemed like she’d been wandering around without a constant paycheck for a very long time. Not that her life on foot hadn’t been absolutely wonderful. She had seen so many things and met so many people. Too bad her stupid brother wasn’t around to enjoy it as well.
The young woman paused at the base of a large pine tree. “Hm?” Absently she tapped the ball at her waist. The Pokeball opened and in a flash of red light a Ditto appeared, smiling up at its trainer with bright eyes.
“Ditto!”
“Hey Momo. I’m going to climb up the tree, you keep a lookout okay?”
“Di!”
Lila patted the squishy creature and then pulled herself into the branches of the pine, intent on seeing what was up there... if anything.

"Lup?" Piplup asked to her trainer, lightly tugging on a few strands of Socks's hair to get his attention.
"Hmm? What is it Shadow?" Socks asked before blowing his nose into his tissue once more.
"Pip! Piplup!" Always used to being nimble, the Piplup jumped off her trainer's head so that she could waddle towards the tree, completely forgetting about her injured toes. Fortunately, Socks' reflexes, probably his only athletic feature, managed to catch the Piplup with his free hand before she fell to the ground and injured her leg even more.
"Geeez, Shadow, don't forget that you still have injuries from that Gyrados attack. "
The piplup gave a look of disappointment, the tone her trainer had just used signaled he wasn't happy and when her trainer wasn't happy, she wasn't happy either. His disappointment was worse than any physical abuse for her.
Noticing the look on Shadow's face, Socks sighed. "Just be more careful next time. "
"Pip!" Shadow replied, cuddling close to Socks's chest. It was much warmer than his head. But, not wanting to forget her discovery, Shadow lightly headbutted Socks and pointed at the tree Momo was watching.
"Huh? A ditto in this island?" Socks asked to himself, changing his course towards the ditto and the tree.
