So, for the sake of saying I've read them, I'm reading all four of the Twilight books. That's right, ALL FOUR. I read the first one when it first came out and struggled through it. It wasn't as bad as some haters make it out, but don't get me wrong, it is bad. The writing is fan-fiction like and the story itself is pathetic. I feel the need to read the books for the sake of having the weapons/ammo to defend real vampires and tell the little Twilight fan-girls why it sucked so much. So, I'm asking all of you at HorrInc. who know what vampires should be like to wish me luck as I slave away at these horribly written books.

VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE! scream Whoa, you said fanfiction. . . I'm so proud of you. smile The first was, I guess, necessary. After putting it down, I looked at the next three and said, "They don't need these. I should tell someone they ordered books that don't exist."

I actually thought it was kinda of cute- if you think of it like a teen-romance-fantasy. Not great but have you read must teen fantasy books? Better than those. A lot of teen books are poorly written imo. There are certainly some great ones, but a lot of bad.
You know the actor that play Edward- I don't care to look up his name- said that it was a wet dream. I agree with that too.
The only thing is I wish I could do is write a wet dream and make millions biggrin

Original vampire archetypes are that of Dracula and Nosferatu. Most current and modern would be Anne Rice. The most scientific explanation of vampires Ive ever read and a really good book is I am Legend. It is not about zombies don't think of that Hollywood bullshit. And Twilight is to Vampires what Furries are to PETA.

I don't get the Furries-->PETA reference. They're both bad for the animals involved.
Good luck though Lucie. I considered reading Twilight but figured the wiki was just as good, if not better. Dracula was by far the best vampire book I've ever read, I freakin' loved that book. I don't think I've read it since 7th grade though. I need to get my hands on a new copy.

I just got done reading Dracula, so in a way I've got the best vampire novel ever written fresh in my mind to compare to these crappy excuses for fantasy/horror. I've also read the first couple books of the Anne Rice series so that should serve as great comparison also. I'm almost done with the second book but have to break every twenty minutes or so because it hurts. This one is worse than the first. I will admit, her werewolves kind of kick-a**. redface For not having done any research for her books on vampires and whatnot, she's managed to pull of decent werewolves. Kind of in shock over that.
As for Nosferatu, the first time I watched that I was around thirteen I think. I just remember thinking that it was one of the creepier movies I had ever seen. Max Schrek as Count Orlok has always been one of my favourite vampires. That and Gary Oldman as Dracula. Every time I watch the fifth Harry Potter movie I wonder why Harry is talking to Dracula. confused xp

Gary Oldman is great and that movie is one of if not the closest movie to the actual book in terms of accurateness. Back when I used to buy DVDs I had a hard time tracking that one down. Glad you're doing well on your quest! Maybe you should write a list of 'wtf that's not a vampire trait' while you're reading 3nodding
Also, I think she's lying. She doesn't strike me as the 'locked in a box all of my childhood' type of mormon. I'm sure she's seen vampire/werewolf movies at the very least, even if she hasn't read or researched the stuff.

I'd like a book-by-book play from Lucie anyways. This sounds like fun. ^_^ AND with Dracula fresh in your mind. You're evil. I know what you mean, Vanilla. She sounds like she's read what she's wanted to read and then threw the reference aside. She doesn't like horror, but I don't like spiders. And I'll still kill one if I see it. She's a liar and I don't like writers who lie about their references. rawr.

One of the most annoying thing about the Twilight vampires is how they are so WEAK! Oh no! I don't want you to be a vampire because then you'll be dead but I still want to be with you. I can't live without you!
WTF!!!!!
So, Edward doesn't want Bella to become a vampire, yet he can't live without her. He wants her to grow old, too. So I'm guessing he's into the geriatrics. Gross. Edward wants Bella to be his GMILF. Or is it just GILF? It's just wrong in so many ways. At least at the end of the second book when they're in Italy the Italian vampires lure a bunch of tourists into their lair and then drain them dry.
And Bella has to be the weakest character I've ever read. She's really not a Mary Sue. In fact, in my opinion, she's quite the opposite. Stand the f*** up for yourself you stupid moron! Grrrrr.
Vegetarian vampires make me giggle and cry both at the same time. The werewolves would kick their asses.

If you think of it as a romance- its not so bad. If you think of it as a vampire book- it's far too mushy to be any good.

If you think of it as a romance it's still pathetic. She can't do anything for herself and he's always putting her in her place and telling her what's best for her. "No, you can't be a vampire, now go back in the kitchen and finish making my dinner." I don't know about you guys, but my relationship is pretty equal in terms of what we can do and how we take care of each other. If he saves me from a hoarde of angry vampires this week, next week I'll be rescuing his a** from zombies.

I completely agree with Vanilla. Edward is WAY too controlling. He's kind of a sexist pig. And Bella just lets him do it. In a way she let Jacob get away with it too, and he's two years younger than her. As a romance, it kind of sucks. I'm not a big romance person, but I know what romance is supposed to be. Movies like Love Actually and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Yes, in my opinion, Dracula was one of the greater romances. Love that lasts for centuries is quite heartbreaking.
Another thing, the fact that she keeps comparing Edward to Romeo and Bella to Juliet annoys me too. Romeo and Juliet was just as ridiculous as Twilight in my opinion. Stupid people falling in love and then killing themselves before they find out the entire story.
I finished the second book. It sucked harder than the first. On to the third. As for the play by play comparison I don't know if I'll do that, but I may type up a summary of all four books for you Marx.

You go right ahead and like your romance, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, sometimes I wonder if I liked romances maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't be the b***h that I am today.....
Nah.....I'll always like action packed, gore filled, slasher, and spook movies better. I grew up with them so I don't think I'll be able to get it out of my blood.
