User ImagePoromoko was used to being considered weird. Her markings, after all, were certainly not anything close to those of 'normal' cheetahs. But why did she want to be normal anyway? She didn't, so it didn't matter. Let them all think what they wanted to about her. She knew what she thought, and that was what mattered.

Also rebellious, she had left home a little too early, and lived on her own for a little too long. She was restless and thirsty for adventure and fun. But she had trouble finding it because she had this really annoying habit of being totally rude to anyone she met. She was like a 'teenager', really, though she was most certainly an adult. A young adult, sure, but she wouldn't abide being treated like a kid.

Sighing, she looked up at the sky. She was curled into a tight ball atop a rock, her legs tucked under her lithe frame so that her greenish middle section almost matched the rock she was perched on. For above, she looked like a little speck of sky that had fallen to earth. Lowering her head again, she decided to wait for something cool to happen.

User Image Achal moved across the lands, enjoying the fresh air and cool breezes. He looked like a walking landscape, a small moving mountain. He hummed slightly to himself, not particularly paying any attention to his surroundings. His tail swished and he was in a very good mood.

Achal moved closer to the rock and it seemed a little out of place. Kind of like the grass wrapped around it and the sky and water met at once. Achal was extremely intrigued and headed right for the odd rock. He had the very odd feeling that something interesting was about to happen and he was excited.

He was often looking for just about anything to do since his sisters and daughter had gone off to their own futures. Not that he was old, most certainly not. His mother had died when he was a adolescent leaving behind her lastest litter and not to log after he found an abandoned serval kit, not that he knew his little rainbow was a serval.

So he walked toward the rock intent on investigating.

Poro lifted her head at the sound of someone approaching. Big, heavy foot falls. She looked around, a bit on edge and excited by it. She spotted the moving mountain and blinked.

No way!

Bouncing to her feet, the long legged creature slid from the rock she was perched on and moved fearlessly toward the lion, mouth slightly open, gaping at him. She kept a little distance, circling around him with an incredulous expression on her face.

"You! You're weird like I am!" She said, rather bluntly. She laughed, bouncing up and down, "you look just like me! Well. No. Not just like me. But still! Where do you come from? What are you doing out here? What's your name?"

Poromoko wasn't exactly shy.

Achal blinked as the newcomer came into full view. He was shocked to see the rock had not been simply a rock. He eyed the female carefully as she approached and was simply amazed at the waterfall portrayed on her side. It was remarkable.

He was quite intrigued, but when the word weird met his ears he frowned intensly, even though the female seemed to remedy the statement he was still slightly irritated and found himself for once not entirely enjoying the company of a female.

He looked her over and systematically began to answer the fountain of questions that seemed to pour from her mouth, much like the waterfall she portrayed.

"I am from over the," he said nodding in the direction he come. "I am traveling now that my responsibilities are lessened and my name is Achal."

"I must admit however that I have never met another like yourself. Who are you and more importantly what are you?"

Achal had not the chance to explore in his short life, being saddled with his sisters after his mother died. He never seen a cheetah before and he shelter himself and his family from the world a bit in fear tragedy would befall them yet again. Now that they were all grown he felt he should not shelter them anymore and wished them well on there journeys but hoped they would not stray to far. He himself explored but never went very far, never more than a days journey away from his den.

She nodded at his answers, not really storing them in her memory bank. She'd probably have to ask for his name again later. But that didn't matter right now. She was distracted by his pelt, and she had a bit of a one track mind. When something came into her head, or made itself the object of her attention, that was the only thing she could focus on until it bored her. Or she was done with it.

"What am I?" she looked up at him, making a face that suggested she thought the question, or maybe he himself, was stupid, "I'm a cheetah, of course. My name is Poromoko." She didn't offer him the shorthand of it, simply because she always left it to her friends to give her nicknames.

Or she would, whenever she made some friends.

"So you live under a rock, then, or something? Because I've never seen you before and I would have heard about you if you were popular around here. Others always comment on my fur, so if you were around they'd comment on yours, too, and then I'd hear about this other animal just like me. But that didn't happen."

She tilted her head at him, smiling.

"But you're here now, huh? Look at us! We make quite the landscape, huh?"

Achal smiled, "It is nice to meet you Poromoko. I have met or even seen a cheetah before." He circled her brief, she looked so different, and with such a beautiful coat, just like he had.

Achal laughed at her question about him living under a rock, "I am not at all surprised that you have not heard of me. I've kept to a small territory after my mother died and my twin sister ran off. I was left to raise my younger sisters. So I did not meet many other's. I fear I have shelter them a bit to much, but I wanted to make sure I didn't leave them in the way that mother did. Now that I am able to travel, yes my fur is the topic of most conversation."

Achal smiled again and laugh, "Yes I would say together we make quite a little haven, an oasis in a valley if you will. Imagine if someone were to come along now, surely they would think they were seeing things."

Achal flicked his tail slightly, "Do you have siblings? Other's with you spectacular coat? Or maybe you have heard news of my sister, she looks just like me. Maybe she has passed through here?"

Poro nodded. She, of course, had met many cheetah before but it was probably a bit different for her. She was one, after all, and her whole family had been them, too. So. Yeah, she couldn't really relate to him there. Lions were every where, it seemed, though she hadn't really interacted with one before.

"Whoa, that sounds like a lot of responsibility, growing up like that. I don't think I'd want it, or I'd probably not do very well if it was forced on me. I can barely take care of myself, as my mom always said, so I don't think I could take care of anyone else." She laughed, not trying to trivialize his history, but unable to keep from joking.

"It's so trippy, though, to run into another creature with a pelt like mine. I didn't think there was one, must less a lion! I guess this world is bigger and smaller than I thought!" She laughed at the idea. It was so big she had no idea what was out there, but small enough to run into someone just like her on her first big adventure in the rogue lands.

It was a crazy place!

"I don't have any siblings, though. I've never seen anyone else with fur like this. And you have a sister that looks like you? You said twin. That's ridiculous! But go figure, huh? I'm sorry you haven't seen her. But at least now I know to keep an eye out for her. Wow. This is so cool."

Achal laughed lightly at hearing that Poro could barely take care of himself, "Im sure eventually you'll be able to care for yourself fine and dandy and then one day, be able to care for others as well. I must admit I was terrified at first, but after my sister left I had to just bare down and settle in."

Achal smiled as Poro spoke, the world indeed had been much bigger and smaller than he though as well. He knew his to have a mountain pelt too, but not like his. Achal had his mothers clouds and blue from his grandmother. He and his twin where unique, now he come to find a 'cheetah' who much like him had an extraoridinary pelt.

"This world we live in is really something else. I wonder if we will run into anyone else like us, with pelts straight from nature herself."

Achal saddened a bit by the fact that Poro had not seen his sister, but brighten when he heard she would keep an eye out for his sister.

"Thank you Poro and yes I guess this is pretty neat."

He grinned slighty before continuing on, "So are you traveling as well, exploring new lands untold."

"Well yeah, sure, I'll be able to. I'm just new to this scene, is all. I'm not worried," she smiled. She was glad that her life had unfolded this way. She wasn't over anxious, she had no real responsibilities, and everything was new and exciting. There was no bad in her situation, she thought.

Though, admittedly, she was still a bit young in mind.

"I don't know, but I'm excited to see if it does happen again. Feels like a one in a million shot, but here we are, talking to each other. So it can, and does, happen. Ha!" She swished her long tail, grinning at the friendly lion.

"I am indeed! I haven't seen anything of these lands, really, so I'm taking my freedom and, literally, running with it. I'm going to see as much as I can, for as long as I can, and it's going to be a blast. I'm not going to stress about anything, if I can help it!"

She beamed at him, "I think it'll be a pretty good way to do things."

Achal nodded, "Thats makes sense. I was probably terrified because I was just a adolescent with little hunting experience, but I'm not complaining. I made it work," she said laughing lightly remembering fumbled attempts are hunting and struggling to catch something that was big enough so he'd get to eat as well.

Achal smiled brightly, "I hope there are others like us, but I doubt there are many. My mother use to say I was a prince and my sister a princess. She would say 'How could you be anything less? You're pelts are blessed, they come right from nature.' It was wonderful," Achal said laughing slightly.

"Did you mother ever say anything like that to you?"

Achal nodded at Poro when she talked about her freedom, it seemed to make sense and Achal wondered briefly if he should do the same thing, but quickly decided against it.

"I love the freedom, but I must admit that I miss my family. I'd like to get back to them soon, though I do not know if they are of the same sentiment. I could be a little over protective."

Blessed? That was not something she had ever used to describe her pelt, and nobody had ever said it to her. She was almost jealous that he and his sister had been able to hear it more than once. It seemed like such a nice way of thinking about things. Not that she ever called her pelt a curse, either. It was just a strange stroke of luck, and some weird genes.

Right?

She shook her head, "no, but she was never mean about it. She just treated me like my other siblings, who all look a lot more normal. I can't really remember, though. I'm too busy living on my own to want to think about being back at home!"

She grinned triumphantly.

"Yeah, I know a lot of families are different. It's good to be over protective of yours, if that's how you really feel! I guess I'm not that sentimental. Doesn't worry me, though. I've got running to do." She grinned again.

Achal frowned slightly at her words, not about her being treated as her siblings were but at not thinking about home. "You should think about home. If you do not think about it then how will you remember?"

He shook his head as she spoke. "Of course that how I really feel. I wouldnt not trade my family for anything." He looked at the female uncertain whether she would say the same for hers, but he shruged knowing everyone was different.

"You must really love to run," he commented. He sighed and looked around, "Surely you slow down from time to time to take in the sights. Have you seen a lot. Anything of great interest?"

"I don't need to think about something to remember it, silly!" she pawed at him playfully, getting more and more comfortable with this like-pelted lion. Maybe they could be friends. "I remember how to breathe every day, and I don't think about that. Right? So my family will always be a part of me. I need them like I need breathing."

She smiled. That had come out rather poetically, and she was pretty proud of herself for it.

"I just don't need to... think about them all the time. If I do, I doubt I'll like them very much for very long." She laughed.

She pondered his question. "Well, when I run everything sort of blurs, so I guess I don't look around as much as I should..." she wondered if she had missed anything important while charging around. "Ah well, can't go back now! I'll keep a better eye out the next time I go running. Which should be some time soon! My legs are starting to itch, and I'm sure I must be keeping you from something?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 17, 2009 7:21 pm

Achal smiled and nodded. Poro had a different way of thinking about things, but it made a lot of since. "That makes a lot of since. I don't thing breathing would be very easy if you had to think about it all the time and I guess everyone is different."

Achal nodded again as Poro spoke, "I understand. If you think about something to much you find fault even when your thinking about the good time. That would definitely make you dislike something."

Achal laughed lightly at the speedy cheetah and was about to respond, but his stomach growled rather loudly. He laughed nervously. "I guess that means we both should be on our way. Me to catch a meal and you to run. Make sure to slow down every once in a while to see the sights. You never know. You could maybe meet another like us."

Achal moved to head off in no particular direction hoping to find lunch.

Poro laughed as she heard his stomach grumble.

"I'm glad you don't like the taste of cheetah!" She chirped. Then paused and looked thoughtful. "You don't like the taste of cheetah, right? Okay, I think that's my cue!"

She laughed again, and then bounced over to him, purring and rubbing against his legs just to say bye. She was a bit of a flirt, to say the least, and she had liked his company. So where was the harm in letting him know it? She bounced away, flicking her long tail.

"I'll keep a look out for moving scenery, I promise! See you again sometime, buddy." She called as she started to run, bouncing on her paws lightly. She liked meeting nice boys.

Always put her in a good mood.
