"I-I-It was horrible, Cyn! I..."

The lionness' breaths came in short, quick gasps, her heart pounding against her ribs as fear and adrenaline coursed through her veins, calming down seeming such a foreign concept for the petrified young female. Nafsiari trembled on the ground in the grass, trying to press herself as close to her beloved as she possibly could, afraid that if she lost contact, even for a second, she'd lose Cyn forever. And she couldn't bear that. "I...h-he was dark! And...h-he was looking at me, Cyn! Looking right at me, even though I was hidden!"

In all honesty, she didn't know what she'd seen. In reality, Sia had seen nothing, the rustling that had set her off having only been an inquisitive hare. But the deep-rooted fear for males in her mind had twisted the hair into a tall, dark lion with a hunger for the small, scrawny Sia. Her trembling, if anything, increased as she clamped her eyes shut, trying to block out the image, but he stayed there, projected onto her closed eyelids. Another sob broke through her maw as she pressed her face to Cynerubor, in an attempt to satisfy her want to feel safe. Cyn would protect her. No one would hurt her whilst Cyn was here.

Unaware of her surroundings, however, Sia didn't realize that she and her beloved were so close to the lands they'd been searching for. Just outside the borders, in fact.

"Shh...I'm here Sia hush take a deep breath and let it out slowly." She said trying to coax her mate into catching her breath before she went further into a panic attack or just straight passed out. What good would that be if there was a male in fact near them? She licked the other female cheek before slowly raising to her feet.

"Stay here." She ordered her voice was lacing with anger and annoyance but the green eye female knew better then to think it was directed to her. No it was directed to what ever had caused Nafsiari to freak out so much.

The female then began to stalk back toward the watering whole her body become a lethal weapon. Her body was hunched over her claws peeked fully from their protective state of her paws. Her eyes focused on the distance as her lips pulled back showing off her pearly white teeth as she began to growl loudly.

She was just begging for something to come at her now as memories of the last male that had crossed her and Sia's path. Deep down how ever she never truly hated the male though she took his life he had given her Sia's love.

There was too much wind that afternoon; a bad sign, at least in Carnadhiel's mind. It meant something unusual was afoot, and a storm may be approaching. The old superstitions of her past pride still clung to the surface of her memories, never entirely disappearing though she had long since left that pride behind.

Ears flitting sideways as she walked, gently pushing her old memories aside, the black lioness stalked through the edges of the Antianeira. Her white eyes were icy as she scanned her surroundings, never once faltering, and always giving things two looks instead of one. It was her duty, after all.

She was a guard now, and a General in the past.

Mere moments later, the swift wind that tickled Carnadhiel's eyes brought more than ill-boding feelings upon the lioness. The wind brought scents; strong, close scents.

White eyes flashing dangerously, Carnadhiel stood tall and alert, drinking deeply the smells around her.

Two lionesses.

With a lash of her tail, but no cruel wishes in her mind, the guard leapt across the moss-covered rocks near the river and right for the scents. It didn't take long for her to spot the two females just below the rocks. Carnadhiel watched them for a moment, observing their actions curiously, and perhaps waiting for them to notice her.

Stay there? Woa woa woa, Cyn couldn't leave! Thinking rather unrationally, Sia felt her claws unsheath, trying to cling onto her beloved in any way possible. But Cyn was on a mission, and there was nothing Sia could do but tremble as the darker, larger lionness left, taking off back towards the dreaded watering hole from which Sia had just come. Nafsiari certainly wasn't going back there - but what if the male got Cyn? What if Sia had just sent her beloved to her death! And anguished sob broke through just thinking of it.

And then suddenly, the wind changed. The lionness tensed completely as the scent of a lion washed over her, although the muscles were soon trembling again - he was back! He was after her! Turning to face where the scent was coming from, a dark shape met her eyes as Sia made a start to flee, scrambling to her feet with cries of fear. However, the wind blew past again, and she noticed something - something important. Emerald eyes turned back to the lion, and she noticed that it wasn't a male - no, much to the contrary. It was a female.

"W-Who're you?" came the timid, submissive voice from Sia - it was a female, which put her mind at rest, but it didn't mean she wasn't dangerous. It was enough to stop Sia from fleeing straight away, though, instead taking a step forwards out of curiosity.

Cyn too noticed the wind change as she stopped her eyes darting to the female her noise picked up the scent before Sia letting her know there was no immediate danger from a male.

She relaxed a little turning around heading back to Nafsiari as she looked into the forest where the dark female came from. Her lips pressed together as she watched her curiously as she leaned into her mate a moment.

She then began to get a bit to cautions from the female intent stare on them. She had to be protecting or possible guarding something. That's when Cyn's eyes widened as she took a step clothe to the female.

"...Would you happen to know where the Antianeira lands are?" She asked her head tilting one side. She didn't want to cause Sia to get excited only to be shot down with them not actually being near their desired new home.

"We've been traveling for a long time after hearing of the lands." She admitted as she looked to her mate meeting her green eyes a moment before looking back to the dark lioness.

The first female, the brown and blue one, was of a shy and skittish nature. Carnadhiel could see that even without the other female doing anything. It was plain on her face. The other darker female was harder, it seemed; blunt and, perhaps, calculating. But not a threat, no. The two girls had no ill intent, it appeared. Carnadhiel was trained very well for such situations; trained how to read people and get information.

Snapping out of her observing state, the red-masked lioness's ears stood up at the sound of a very familiar word: Antianeira.

The black female's face was stony and blank. She stared down at the two lionesses from her position on the rocks. The meeting had certainly taken an unexpected turn, albeit a rather good one. However, it still left questions unanswered as to the two's characters. No matter how well Carnadhiel could read them in those few moments, much more could be revealed in conversation.

"The Antianeira?" Carnadhiel called down emotionlessly, looking solely at the darker female, no longer focused at all on the brown one; she was completely not a threat, and therefore didn't need to be watched any longer. The darker one, however, was the one who inquired after the guard's home. She needed to be questioned further.

"What are your reasons for searching for the Antianeira?" Carnadhiel asked her, never saying if they were in the lands or not. It was her duty to protect the pride, after all.

Cyn was back, and Sia was glad. She turned, looking up to her beloved with adoration and affection, purring a little as she rubbed her head along Cyn's legs. However, they were tensed, and she soon pulled away, acknowledging the need Cyn had to protect her, and make sure this female was not a threat. But...Antianeira? Nafsiari's emerald eyes widened as she looked first to Cyn, then to the strange lionness, a flutter of hope rising in her chest. All their hard work, their gruelling journey...had they finally reached the place they'd been searching for? Finding new strength inside of her, Sia managed to stand, albeit a little wearily, wobbling a little before she locked her knees, holding her in place.

"We...we want a home." Sia answered the lionness' questions quietly, but loud enough that Carnadhiel should be able to hear. She was looking to the ground, watching the grass sway with the breeze, before she rose her head a little meekly, looking up to the large, dark lionness standing above her and her beloved on a rock.

"...Away from...from..." she began to sentence, but was unable to finish it as a shudder ran through her, claws digging into the hard ground in an attempt to steady herself. "...Away from males."

Cynerubor pressed her body against Sia letting her know she was there and she wasn't going to leave so easily hoping it would help the female in telling the dark lioness why they where searching for a home. She took a deep breath before looking to the masked female.

She was rather interested in wondering if a) they had finally found their home. b) If there home was still male free. c) If there where just going to get completely and utterly no where with this lioness.

"Please...we don't want to cause any trouble we just need somewhere to feel safe." She said finally letting Sia know that she was also scared for them and other male though she never let the small female know. She wanted to come off as strong and stable not weak and unstable to make Sia panic even more.

Hmm...

Interesting.

So these two females sought a haven away from males; some place to feel safe.

Well, they'd certainly come to the right place. But it was not in Carnadhiel's power or rank to accept strangers into the pride. That was the queen's job. It would be the queen that these two females must speak to in order to be accepted in the pride. But that was a relatively easy matter, if the queen saw them fit to join; which, Carnadhiel thought, she would. Then again, there was still much about the queen that the guard had yet to learn. Though a Scout would normally take visitors into the pride to meet the queen, Carnadhiel went in between duties as was asked of her. After all, there was only one scout.

Just then, the wind stopped completely. The jungle went silent as the trees stopped their swaying, and the grasses stood still. Carnadhiel's ears turned to the sides and she blinked, listening.

Before, the wind had been strong; a bad sign. Now, the wind was gone. What did it mean...?

White eyes staring blankly below, Carnadhiel flicked her tail once and clutched the rocks with her claws.

"This is the Antianeira." she said.

Sia's eyes never faltered, a strange bravery shining in them as she watched Carnadhiel. They'd come so far, and been through so much...surely they deserved to know where they were? She didn't speak her thoughts, merely pressing herself back into Cynerubor in response, nodding as her beloved spoke. It was truth - all of it. Surely they couldn't be punished for telling the truth?

Sia noticed the dark lionness' movements as the wind stopped - what did that mean? Did she smell something? Nafsiari began to scent the air herself, before Carnadhiel spoke. Her eyes brightened, ears tensing as she seemed to perk up. Had she just said...this was the Antianeira? They were here!? Emotions flooded through the fragile lionness, ranging from relief and happiness to shock and disbelief. They were really here. ...It had all been worth it. Managing to flash a smile to the stranger, Sia inclined her head a little.

"I...R-Really? Please...we ask permission to join." she spoke gently. She couldn't forget manners, expecially at a time like this. After all, they were here. But now they just had to get in.

"Careful Sia...I don't think she has the right to say we are accepted or not." Cyn said as she watched the other before moving a step closer her tail running over Sia's side letting her know she wasn't going to far.

"I know you must be protecting your lands and we are only seeking them out to make them our lands as well. We are both strong and capable of many things." She stopped growing silent for a long moment before taking a breath and moving even closer to the other lioness bowing her head her ears falling back as she began to speak once more.

"So if you please...Take us into the lands so that we might come by someone to judge us into being accepted or casted aside." She was blunt as she spoke not caring not on treading lightly. She wanted to get this over and done with she was tired and needed rest.

Carnadhiel stared down at the two with an emotionless face, no sign of disturbance flickering in her white eyes in the slightest. She continued giving them the same blank-eyed, uncaring stare. It was impossible to tell what she thought of the two. Did she like them, or dislike them? Did she think them potentially good members, or useless lionesses? But once you got to know Carnadhiel (what little there was to find out), you understood that it didn't matter what she thought of you, because the truth was, she probably didn't think anything of you.

All she cared about was her duty.

Right now, her duty was to bring those two lionesses before the queen. For she served the queen, and the queen alone. When the queen passed on or stepped down, she would serve the next in line. And so on and so forth until she perished. She lived to serve, and perhaps served to live.

So with a lash of her tail, the red-masked lioness nodded to a path in the rocky hill that led to where she was; an easy climb for the two.

"Follow me." she said. Then she turned, and began walking away.

She didn't? Why not!? In her exhaustion and desperation Nafsiari wasn't particularly thinking straight, instead merely looking for the easy answer and assuming it was right. The frightened lionness watched Carnadhiel, almost cowering downwards in fear. But it wasn't just fear - there was something else there. Admiration, perhaps? This female...she was so strong, so calm-headed and emotionless. She really did wish she could be like that sometimes.

The female's face visibly lit up as Carnadhiel agreed to take them, quickly scrambling to her feet, glancing back at her beloved and flashing a sweet smile before taking shaky steps forwards to follow the other female. This was it.

She was home.
