Streets Field
Broken tar and faded yellow lines make up the “street” that runs down the exact center of the battle field. On either side of the road, sidewalks with pieces of concrete here and there are broken off while “building walls”, set with windows of sugar glass and rotating doors are placed on one side of the street. On the other is a broken down building with barred window and a boarded up door. Faint traces of grim and much cover the walls of both “buildings” while trash cans and trash bags decorate the street; some are torn open with their contents spilled out while others are not. A sewer grate nearby continually pours a stream of fog into the air while, on the corner near a crossroad, a phone booth is seen. The phone, hanging off the hook, makes a continuous busy signal. Dying and dead bushes line the building sides while occasional breezes blow the dead leaves onto the sidewalks and road.This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to POISON type attacks.

Since his trainer had given him a free day, Helium decided to partake in his favorite sport: haunting the gym arena. But today was one of the days he particularly enjoyed. Days when his trainer would send in random people to challenge him with his own teammates. Those days were always quite interesting since he could determine his own ranking within his trainer's group even though it was a different trainer handling the pokemon.
The gastly chuckled to himself, waiting for his challenger to appear while carelessly floating between the bars of the railing in the trainer box.

 Alessa took a look at the battle field. She was a bit disappointed; nothing very natural or beautiful (but that was the point). Oh, well. She’s never watched a fight in the streets, that’d be a new sight. And anyway, she hasn’t fought for years; she really needed to get the hang out of this if she wanted to get her own critter. The photographer released the Pokémon she borrowed for this fight. A pretty Dragonair slithered on the sidewalk, not showing much of her disgust. What’s that smell? Is that smoke? She wanted this to be over already so she could take a deserved nap.

((Curiously, what's that thing your trainer sprite is holding? xD ))
"Haaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuunt!" Helium declared, circling around the dragonair with a mischievous. He had never gotten much time to tease his scaly teammate much since socks was always asleep, but this gave him the perfect opportunity.
Not wanting to waste more time waiting for the battle to start, Helium launched a Ice Beam attack from his mouth while he was still circling behind Socks.

((Ice beam is supereffective so if it's a normal hit (I roll a 2-5) you take 150 HP damage since it's 100 base damage for the roll +50 HP supereffective bonus
If it's a critical hit (I roll a 6) you double that to equal 300 HP.
If I roll a 1, you take no damage =P ))

That… was the weirdest Haunter Alessa had ever seen. She assumed the ghost was female and shouted “Socks! Use Dragonbreath on her!”
“Dragonaiiiiir~” replied the blue critter. However, before she could even move or realize where Helium was, she was hit by a white beam that chilled her to the bones. It took her a few seconds to fully recover from the attack, and turned her head to counter-attack. She breathed shiny fumes that she directed in her opponent’s direction.

((Oh! I totally see it now! It's not bad you silly :3
And you do realize Socks is a dragonair and Helium is a haunter? Are their cert images spazzing? Photobucket has really been retarded about showing their evolved forms D: ))
Helium quickly backed away as soon as he saw that the dragonair was poised for attack. But he knew that he may not be able to disappear fast enough with the close distance they were at already so he did the second best thing: he launched an ice beam attack to cut straight through the dragonbreath attack and head straight for his teammate's face.
Unfortunately, the icebeam did not manage to disperse all of the dragon breath attack and the fumes mingled and ate away at Helium's own gases.

((... well, you wrote "Gastly" in your opening post, and since they evolved at the same time, I assumed the wrong thing! I'll edit my previous posts once I'm done with this one. gonk ))
Alessa saw the beams cutting each other. She realized it would make an awesome photo, and took her camera to take a quick picture. It wasn’t until Socks whimpered that she snapped out of it. The woman felt bad for the dragon, and put her device back in her bag. Old habits die hard. “Okay, now, Supersonic!”
Good thing the Pokémon didn’t see what the trainer was doing. She coughed the small ice shards melting in her throat, and hummed quickly a sound that, she hoped, would disturb the mischievous Haunter’s mind. The human didn’t hear much from where she was standing, and she wondered briefly if it had worked.

Helium winced at the loud sound and soon found his vision split into two. Crap, this was bad.
The haunter faded away from sight and reappeared as far away as possible but the damage to his brain was already done. "Haaaauuun!" The pokemon moaned. He glared hard at Socks, sending a confuse ray at the other pokemon so that they could BOTH suffer the same thing.

The photographer perceived a loud vibration at last, a noise that had already overwhelmed the ghost. She suddenly felt a bit light-headed. “Huh, wow.” Watching how Helium basically dissolved small parts of himself with a very awkward Confuse Ray, she realized how Pokémon are much more sensible to these sounds. Or did he? Anyway, he didn’t hit the Dragonair, and…
Oh, right, the battle.
She pointed at the opponent. “Good job! Use… whatever offensive attack you can use from this distance. Stay there.” How more vague could she get? She facepalmed mentally.
Socks was happy to see how this trickster resumed her job, but she was slightly confused by Alessa’s order. Basically, it meant “do whatever you want”, right? The previous attack probably wouldn’t hit that far. So instead, her pearls glowed slightly as she gathered the electricity in the air. She unleashed the Thunder attack right before reaching her limits. Zigzagged patterns quickly crossed the road towards the Haunter. “Naiiiir!”, she said, which meant “Have fun dodging this one!”.
