Were there pups to look after? Was there anything for him to really do here in the Brotherhood without some purpose? His only real reason for keeping with the pack was the chance for his teachings to mold the youth that would eventually build the structure of the intense force of his mighty roost. It was his job, after all, to teach the values of the pack as well as the various skills the young would eventually need. Lately, however, there hadn't been any large groups to care for. It was more to him than simply vomiting out information, oh no, this was his only purpose, and thus the only time he felt any worth in his own life. The rest of the pack certainly didn't treat him with any importance. It was because of his rank that he wasn't even allowed to pull the cloak over his exposed, disgusting ears. Why was that?

Elapse, as he was named here, had no answer to this question and many of the others he pondered upon. Despite being relatively miserable without something to occupy his time with, pride kept him going. He wouldn't deny the sensation of belonging to such a magnificent force. It was empowering! Thrilling! Now if only he could be a part of the many expeditions his pack embarked upon.

His black forepaws shuffled slowly, sauntering as he clawed across large sets of roots the protruded through the ground. The knotted trees that wound up above canopied the sky with dead branches, hiding away most of the sky. A little sigh escaped his maw. This place didn't change much, did it? The only thing that seemed to change wa- something moved. Immediately freezing, the wolf lowered his head, staring intently toward his left. What had caught his attention. Having reacted so swiftly he now wondered what it was that held him still; was it a scent, a sound? His silver eyes snaked through his surroundings.
