I live in a state where colourguard is not big. I only know of two other high schools in my state that have guards and they have joined to become one. We aren't even recognized as a club and the janitors hate us. crying
Are there any other guards without love from their schools?

That is horrible! At my school the guard is part of the band, we are one but are recognized as a guard and independent. The only problem is our football team (which sucks!) thinks they rock and no one ever talks about the band when the football team is around!

Band in my school isn't that big (which is weird because band is huge in my state). It's chancey whether people know who colorguard is.

Well, our guard isn't as big as SOME sports like soccer or stuff, but it's okay. We're considered part of the band. The winterguard just got a page in the yearbook. :]
And, I don't know about the rest of the guard, but the janitors love me. Your not supposed to give students your keys- teachers OR janitors. I go to a janitor and ask to be let in to the band room, he just hands me the thing of like a billion and one keys, tells me which on it is, and says "bring them back when your done." I'm like, O.O.

Same as ours.....we reserve the gym a year in advance and the basketball team needs practice and we get kicked out....sucks for winter season... Were not considered anything..like we don't exist...

We just got a winterguard this year so yeah. We were just part of the band but we're starting to show people what we really are. This is the first year that we have ever had any weapons in our marching show and our winter season is the first time any of us has even touched one. It's really weird bcuz I've been in it for 5 years and then was put on sabre for winter and then rifle for marching season. I still do all my tosses with my hand down for the sabre instead of up for rifle... I hate it... crying

Our guard only has about 5 members, 2 of which are only in winter guard

Our guard is only like but some of the sports.
One of the volleyball players told one of the our guard girls who was at work (sonic) that she wouldn't give her a tip because we had "toke" the gym from them.
Which is wrong cuz we had been in the gym since 1:00pm they don't even get the gym until 4pm. When their practice starts we move to the area above the red bleachers.

the big problem we have is the band getting in our way. when they have to run cause someone was talking they run way too close to us even if we are spining, then we get yelled at if one of the band gets hit in the head.

At my high school the color guard went without love for the longest time. And then we talked to the current principle (who happened to be a band geek in his younger years) and we gained more support and funding.
The guard usually has around twelve members (which is small in Illinois). A normal sized color guard in IL is twenty-five to thirty, so we usually have to stick together at competitions.
Most of the band loves us now that the Guard/Trupet feud is over (took about ten years). I think we only have a slight feud with the drum line. But that's okay, the drum instructer is pretty strict with them, so they can't inslt us. smile

I'm glad we're not the only one that is ignored.
Well, it might look up for us yet. A couple of the girl on our team preformed at a neighbors art show and they loved them. So our neighbor is going to write a letter to our principal praising us!! 8D
We also have 13 people this year!! Opposed the the 8 we had when I posted this. This is a lot for us! And one is a boy!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin
We also have some wicked choreography for competition this year! Hopefully we will get something better than last! XD

At pep rallies, nobody really watches us, same goes for football, unless you're either, a.) a band parent, b.) a friend of the band who's not in band.
