User ImageAlright so everyone know I really didn't try to make this picture look like Orihime from Bleach really I didn't when I finished the sketch work I looked at it and went Oh crap it's Orihime... Anywho I want to know how I did, I mean I had my 5 in. Mannequin out to work with.

-: I think you did a good job on it. I really do like the pose that you chose for her! Her pose is coming along quite nicely and makes the image a lot more interesting. A few anatomy problem but they can be easily fix. ;3

Let's start from the head. Her chin is little long but I ended up shortening a bit in the image. The chin should be fine if you rounded the area a little more. Also, the head looks a little flat which maybe from the hair. The hair should be pulled back a bit more and allow room for her brain and forehead.
Her ears have a good start but ends too short. Usually, ears have the length from the eyebrows to the bottom of the nose.

The hips really depends if she's young or older. If she was older then her hips should was wide as her shoulders. However, if she is young then that length is fine.

Now, for her legs. I'm guessing you were drawing at an angle. Drawing like that causes the image to slant a bit. You want her to have something to support herself with, right? You can try to keep the paper as straight as you possibly can and should improve your drawings quite a bit. The pose gives the impression that her leg, furthest way from the viewer, is holding most of the body weight. That leg would be aligned as she were standing and the other leg is free to move on it's own.

Finally, clothing. The clothing, unless are designed to hug the body, should allow some space from the body. [I really have nothing to about clothing. I'm sorry! I'll try to explain the next time I have the chance.]

Picture

I hope this help even the slightest bit. These are just suggestions and you don't have to follow everything. If you don't understand something, feel free to ask me. I, also, want apologize in advance since it's three o'clock right now and I can't think straight. :-

Thanks and I've done some tweaking of my own since I posted, And I was going for the hug feel for clothes. And it is a younger woman about the age of 21.

-: By that age the hips usually are nicely formed. Teens and below are the ones that are underdeveloped. :-

User ImageWell this is what I've done just today I'll get the hips fixed tomorrow. Or the next time I get a chance to sit down and fix the hips. I'm also going to put more meat on the left arm cause it looks a little too thin.

-: That's in the right direction! Everything can be referenced back to the image I done for you. ^^

For the hair, one quick advice for next time. Hair strands go upward then as hair grows goes downward. Judging from the highlight on the right, the other highlight would fall back a bit. So, in the beginning of where the hair splits, there would plain then the highlight appears on top of the curve.

Is that too confusing? I think I confused myself. :-

Here's a redline from me~ You don't have to agree with all of it, these are just some suggestions.

Anyways, main things I noticed:
- the body is slanted and makes it seem as if she is unbalanced
- abit of reshaping of the lower torso/hips
- hands and feet need to be larger, and also be careful with the direction they are facing (her feet look a little uncomfortable)
- the shape of thighs are like, truncated cones (or cylinders that become slimmer towards the knee) rather than ovalish shaped.
- calves and arms are abit thin
- shoulders are slanted, but this could be part of her pose, I dunno.
- arm length is abit short

User Image

The red is the outline of the body without clothes on. I also drew this to more human proportions, so yahh, in anime version it'd probs be a bit more slimmed out?

Hopefully this is of some help! You're definitely on the right track. :3

And sorry for the shoddy redline. I am getting rusty *creaaks* DX

User ImageI doubt this is properly aligned I'll try and straighten it I'm not really trying to scan it straight right now I'm just trying to make sure the picture is right, though after this edit attempt I might just start coloring it, it normally doesn't take me this long to do a picture.

I wasn't to look like she's turning direction while she's walking so I fixed the back leg a bit. I also fixed the gloss in the hair that work better?. I'm going to try and fix the one arm this next time around.

-: The highlights look much better, now. Good job!

The back leg is a little long but I brought it in just a little more. The foot is a little pointy, unless she's wearinf a pointy shoes, so I flatten that out.

User ImageUser ImageI've been meaning to do this a LONG time ago but became a bit of a procrastinator and only felt like doing this now. Mainly because the first one, the one on the left the skin turned out too dark for what I was looking for and the redo I did in GIMP doesn't look any better, one on the right. I'm trying to get a Native American feel to her skin tone and I don't think I'm doing it right.

The scan I tried everything to straighten to paper next to taking out my ironing board and ironing the thing, thus the reason for the second picture.

-: Ah, yes. I see what you mean about the skin. Hmm, maybe try a little bit more yellowish tone? ^^'

The colors really add to native tone you were going for. Good job! :-

User ImageI did some other things to this like make this stick out a bit more as far as the hair was concerned, and blurred the coloring of the shirt, and changed the skin color... So do that look better?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 15, 2009 6:26 pm

-: Well, I think that skin fits her much better, now.

The light areas on the pants kind of throw me off a bit. I never worked in GIMP before so I don't know how difficult it may be to change colors. I'm not saying to change the whole colors, just some of the lighter areas. ^^ :-

I thought it was an interesting effect that I did. I mean I was using the blur just to make the color more even I might just go over it with a light blue to fix that.
