After a lengthy trek through the forests surrounding the packlands, Liriel had to admit that returning home was a relief...or having a place to call 'home' was, at least. As she crossed again into the familiar territory, "gifts" to the alpha in tow, she was certain that her place would be here for quite some time. After all...she was bringing her master a new and pefectly docile slave to play with, as well as a strong-minded and silver-tongued devil behind her that she was certain would make a valuable ambassador to other packs. Yes..things seemed to be going well for her, now, and she couldn't wait to see Moghedien's surprise at her conquests.

She glanced back to Caydenn and the new slave and smiled wickedly in satisfaction as she led them into the dark court of obsidian dens or the Lords and Ladies, where undoubtedly her master was sitting, regally, at his favorite "throne" atop the main den.

Slowly she approached, her head lifted proudly as she came to sit down in the center of the court in cool silence. She dipped her head down into a courteous nod, and waited to speak until first spoken to.

((Yay irony..lol))

Chernabog knew the moment Liriel's lovely amethyst fur appeared that she was not alone, but it was not Selene nor Haemon that she returned with. His red eyes were narrowed as he watched her carefully his nose twitched beneath his mask. There was a combination of curiosity and anger in his voice, "Welcome home my lady..."

He leapt down gracefully from the great obsidian peak of the main den. His eyes flicked between the two males before settling back on Liriel. Well, well, well, what had his lovely lady gotten herself into.

Sunken pale eyes flitted about nervously, small patches of his fur twitching at random. If at all possible, Adrieal's already white face was even whiter, drawn tight in a mixture of confusion, shock, and fear of the unknown. What had happened? One moment he had been following the sprightly Viola towards his possible new home, the next there was an ambush, a strange collision of his memories as he scrabbled to escape, could not, fangs and claws reaching his legs . . . And now he had no recollection of how he had gotten there; the forest looked the same to him after a time, dark tree after gnarled pine after clumps of shadows . . .

Where was he? What could these strange wolves possibly want with him? Adrieal gulped quietly, keeping his head down and his tail tucked, as small as possible of a target. He heard a deep drawl from somewhere ahead and above but dared not raise his head, though a shiver ran down his spine. This screamed trouble, and his painted eyebrows slid down in anxiety, even though it still forced what looked like a scowl upon his face.

Caydenn watched the pretty female in front of him closely. Her attractive, dark haunches were tense as she stood before the dark dens, before the dark throne of her apparent lord. In their lengthy adventure, he hadn't ever seen her show any fear, or weakness, or hesitation. Until now. Suddenly Liriel seemed to him to be a mere servant. Odd ... He wondered what sort of creature could possibly rule over one such as her?

Chernabog looked to be a frightening sort of wolf. Powerful, large, with markings that would scare the faint of heart into silence. Caydenn did not consider himself to be faint of heart. He watched the other male carefully. His luminous eyes locked to Chernabog's red ones. His head tilted slightly, so as to best assess the tone of voice he used with Liriel. It was not kind. It was angry. A little curious, but mostly angry.

Behind him, the slave they had collected seemed to be content to stand in silence. Caydenn was glad. He didn't want to have to silence the silly creature. Shaking his large head at the slave, and his eventual fate, he went back to waiting quietly for the alpha to address him, or at least ask Liriel about him. Until then, he would wait. Then, surely, his game would begin in earnest.

Liriel's confidence waned quickly from the angry bite of her alpha's words, and she was at once glad that she could hide behind her mask in times such as these. Why such hostility, great one...? she wondered, for she had only brought him gifts to make up for the loss of their one and only slave. Surely these males would fill that gap..

"My Lord.." she began, rising to her paws and giving a slight bow before she continued, her eyes locking to his, for once in her lifetime, innocent. "In my travels, I lament that I could not find your slave..but instead I have run across the two males behind me, and I believe that they will please you.."

She turned then, and tipped her muzzle to Caydenn before looking back to Chernabog. "I present to you, Caydenn, a wordsmith and worthy diplomat if there ever was one..and.." she looked to Adriel now, with the beginnings of a smirk on her maw, " Adriel...whom I believe would be more than a suitable..replacement..for our dearest Selene..."

She chuckled evilly as she turned back to her alpha, proud, and with a glitter to her warm amber eyes. It was all coming together, it seemed. Finally she felt a sense of satisfaction that perhaps she had proven herself worthy of her rank. There she waited, confident and unafraid that her alpha would perhaps show her some kind of affection..the way he had seemed oh so fond of that little silver spider of a wolf she had come to so thoroughly dislike.

Oh how she burned for him..surely he could see it in her eyes?

Slowly the alpha relaxed and a smile began to cross his muzzle, fangs appearing below the row of sharp metal ones always present. His ruby eyes danced from Caydenn to Adrieal assessing them both. He held back a soft growl when his eyes met Caydenn's this one was bold, very bold. His eyes flicked over to Adrieal and he nodded softly before moving closer to Liriel.

"You've done well my fierce lady, Selene has obviously wormed herself away well, but this makes up for it." He tipped his head to her before glancing at Caydenn.

"Introduce me dear one, and tell me what worth you have seen in this particular male..." He ignored Adrieal for the most part, a slave was a slave and there was no need to address him just yet.

Their words confused him. Diplomat? That wolf? How in the land of Telk could they possibly thinkg he was capable of negotiating anything after that brutal ambush, the threats to stay quiet like a good little slave . . . ? Who was Selene, what happened to her, and what was he replacing her for? The strangely-adorned female smirked at him and he felt it more than saw it and shivered. Why was the so-called diplomat staying quiet if he was supposed to be a "wordsmith", whatever that meant? Didn't that mean he shoudl be talking more? Silence was creeping him out.

And then as the dark voice continued to congradulate "his fierce lady" over his capture, Adrieal fervently wished for the silence to come back. Each time he heard the alpha it made him want to just curl up in a corner and not be spoken to again for ages and ages. The dark forest seemed to enclose upon him, and he nearly swooned with the light-headedness and fear coursing through him. He knew better than to speak out at this point, even if he could - his throat felt drier than a desert and in want of water and food. Adrieal kept his head bent but now sneaked glances at the hooded, fiery-legged male as "My Lord" addressed him.

He nodded his head at Liriel's brief description of him. He looked at Chernabog, ducking his head low in respect before looking at him. "My lord, as Lady Liriel informs you, she believes I may have a purpose within your pack. As she tells you, my specialty is indeed with words. I pride myself in being able to accomplish much with only my voice. But over course, I am not without other abilities. "

His grin was wicked, colder than what it usually was. He knew he was a large wolf, by any standard. There was a power behind his body that matched up with his words, giving them even more weight. His cowl shielded his eyes, allowing him to glance over his Lady. She seemed calmer now, having been absolved of guilt over not returning with the original slave.

Liriel couldn't keep a glow from her calculating smile as her alpha moved closer, reveling in the symbolism of their proximity. Oh..if only Moghedien could see..just to see the cold hatred in her eyes...

She wanted to be envied.

She reigned in her wandering mind and nodded in agreement to Caydenn's skills, looking on with her alpha at the new male, who seemed so full of potential.

"He speaks the truth, sire, if there was ever a male that could sweet-talk the tribute out of another pack, it would be him..and make note, my Lord, that he is not merely words.."

She tipped her muzzle in Cay's direction, noting his large and muscled frame and hoping that he would take notice as well. She did not want to shower this new male with compliments..not while she so yearned for her alpha's affections. Although..she had to admit that Caydenn did deserve some compliments...

"He is a strong one, sire, he has a skill with words not unlike our clever Moghedien...yet..he also has strength and brawn to back those words..a perfect representative of our pack's strengths and skills..If I may go so far to say so.." She looked to Chernabog for his approval, for some hint of anything in those mysterious and shielded eyes. Any flicker..of anything...

Chernabog considered Liriels words carefully, he knew how badly she wanted to tip the scales in her favor. As much as Chernabog appreciated her offering she decided to see if she was willing to back herself up. She had after all wandered from Haemon, and that alone deserved his ire. Still he couldn't be angry at his vicious violet when she had brought a replacement for Selene and what could be a noble lord or warrior for the pack.

"Very well Liriel if you feel so strongly my sweet that your Caydenn is so very capable then he shall be your responsibility. You will take him on your next mission to collect tribute, if he is of aid to you then he will be promoted to Lord himself...if you both fail to collect tribute then you shall both be demoted." Chernabog nodded and turned away from her, his words had been spoken and now he turned his attentions onto the slave.

"Adriel....have you any family? friends perhaps?" He tilted his head his red eyes blazing with a cold cruel fire.

Family? He had only thought of them constantly for the past few months - of course he had family! Friends, well . . . Viola seemed like she could fit the category, and maybe that Nevermore girl possibly if it weren't for the hawk part . . . But he was daydreaming again, and that pair of malevolent red eyes was scrutinizing him to the point of feeling like worms were beneath his fur. Why would the alpha care?

"U-Um . . . Yeah. Mom w-was Tiamate, Dad was V-V-Valentin, and I-I had a bro called D-Driscoll . . ." It stung him how suddenly he had switched to the past tense rather than the present without thought. Too long had he been searchign for his family, though, with no end in sight, no word nor sight nor hair of them to be found in Telk. He was truly alone, and now in the grasp of the strange goblin-faced wolf before him. Adrieal did not lift his head up out of fear to look at any of them; would his stuttering worsen their outlook? But he was frightened more of what they would do if they thought he was withholding information, even if it was just personal details .

"U-U-Um . . . I know s-s-s-s-s-" The teen paused with a wince and tried again slower. "I know someone named Voila! if that counts . . ."

Caydenn grinned. Ah yes, this was all going according to plan. A tribute? He could talk a tribute out of a rock, and he knew it. He glanced to Liriel, wanting to see her reaction. Surely she must feel she had done well. And her rank certainly couldn't be at any risk. He held his head a little higher, and there was a renewed glitter in his eyes.

Now he turned his attention to watching the slave and the King. It was interesting, how this one with all the power managed to cow the slave. Brutal anger and truth - no finesse at all. Interesting ... He took in how Chernabog treated those he came in contact with, filed it away, for another game at a later date. Surely that game would come one day, too.

Liriel let the gravity of her alpha's words sink in, soak into her head, and gain gravity. She nodded calmly to him, and dipped her head down with one paw stretched foreward in a courteous bow. Never did she lower herself to anyone but him.

"As per your wishes, sire, so it shall be," she purred, lifting herself again to give a pointed look to Caydenn as he stood and watched, tail just barely twitching in warning.

You had best not let me down...or it will be your blood...

She eased when the alpha turned his scrutinizing eye back to the replacement slave, smirking in pleasure at the little coward's stammering. He was more than perfectly suited to be the pack's new punch-bag, that much was certain. At least she knew beyond a doubt that she had good taste in slaves...

Chernabog smirked softly and moved closer to the stammering slave. "You should know this then, you will never see them again...alive." He twisted and glanced at Liriel.

"Knock him out, leave him in the main den, the young warriors may watch him. Then go get your rest Liriel, you've done so well a pride to the court." He nodded to her and glanced at Caydenn.

"I suppose you can manage to find a den of your own?"
