A slick news studio appears on your tv with an actiony theme in the background. Lana Lang's smiling face greets you as she begins to read the news you need to know.

Good evening, it's May 7th and this is Kapow Action News. All Nexus news, all the time.

Our top story tonight is the continuing recovery that is underway in the Nexus from the reign of Lex Luthor and his cohorts which was quickly followed by the appearance of the Emerald Empress.

More than a month after Luthor and his minions raged unchecked through the Nexus, the buildings and businesses here have made a full recovery thanks to Christopher Alice Powell. After he saved the Nexus with the help of Brainiac 5, Mr Powell recovered reparations from Injustice International. He distributed the funds to those people who were ravaged by the attacks.

Less than a month later, the Nexus was under siege by the Emerald Empress. Her weapon, the Eye of Ekron, had turned several of our residents and heroes evil until she was brought down by a group including Rex Mason, Talia Wagner, Gothic Lolita, and Wormwood.

In other news, The Pit and Pendulum is now open for business and bringing an adult flavor to the Nexus. In the upcoming days, we will have an interview with the owner, Wormwood, and see where he pictures his business going in the Nexus.

On a lighter note, there was a strange incident in the Bistro last night involving Snow White and Bigby Wolf. Due to the raciness involved, we can not go into detail at this time but needless to say, many witnesses report being "grossed out."

In sports news, the Bistro Boppers beat the Injustice Wolves in extra innings 10-9. Wally West cleared the bases with a triple in the bottom of the tenth for the win.

And finally, the Rumorang has been searching for gossip of our local citizens. If you hear any interesting gossip that the Rumorang could use please PM Ms Lana Lang here at Kapow Action News.

Thank you and have a good night. And remember, if it matters to you then it matters to us.

The music starts and an actiony theme kicks in.

Welcome to Kapow Action News with your anchor, Lana Lang, and ace reporter, Lois Lane.

Good evening, it's May 8th and this is Kapow Action News. All Nexus news, all the time.

Tonight's lead story is the further fallout from the Emerald Empress Incident. Last night in the Bayou Bistro the Emerald Empress herself appeared in the company of several of the Pit and the Pendulum's servers. Witnesses report that the Empress called herself Sarya and seemed to be in a slight daze. She handed a few fliers out and then left, prompting the citizens of the Nexus to wonder if she had given up her evil ways. Very soon our own Lois Lane will sit down with the owner of the P&P, Wormwood, and find out exactly his involvement with the Emerald Empress.

Speaking of Lois Lane, our intrepid reporter has been on site at a special Bistro event that will last throughout the weekend. What do you have for us Lois?
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 7:37 pm

Thank you, Lana.

This weekend, Friday through Sunday the Bistro is playing host to a pool party. This bash is being thrown by none other than Snow (White) Wolf. Many denizens of the Nexus were not even aware the Bistro even had a pool. This intrepid reporter has learned that the pool was installed by Supergirl for a previous party.

Mrs. Wolf would like to encourage everyone to bring their swimsuits and drop by for a great time. She has also assured this reporter that at this party there will not be a repeat of the "great furry incident" that occurred in the Bistro not more than two days ago. Refreshments as well as an outdoor bonfire will be available and I have been assured that there will be plenty of opportunity for exclusive interviews. Ms. Lang and I will keep you updated this weekend as events progress.

Back to you, Lana

Thanks Lois...try not to fall into the pool.

In other news, Christopher Powell seems to be the subject of an upcoming lawsuit for breach of contract. MKUII claims that he submitted an order of 100,000 copies of their upcoming Wave 1 comic book release and now has canceled the contract. MKUII claims that no one can legally cancel a contract without their say so and are suing for one hundred million dollars. We could not reach Mr. Powell for comment but a spokesperson for MKUII had this to say...

Quote:
rofl rofl rofl twisted twisted twisted

Earlier today there was an ugly incident involving Teddy Altman and Norman Osborn. Mr. Osborn made several prejudiced remarks about Skrulls and threatened Mr Altman before leaving in peace. We'll keep an eye on this and let you know if any further developments occur.

In sports, the Injustice Wolves were dealt another blow today when the Nexus Baseball League handed down a 50 day suspension to their star first baseman, Bane. A test of Bane's blood was found saturated with performance enhancing drugs and the league took immediate action. The Wolves plan to appeal the ban sometime tomorrow.

And finally, the Rumorang has reported that a certain married vigilante has been seen galavanting around town with Nick Fury. Dinah Lance was seen canoodling with Fury in several locations sans wedding ring. What does this mean for her marriage to Oliver Queen? Time will tell.

That's all for tonight. This is Lana Lang for Kapow Action News signing off.
Remember....if it matters to you, it matters to us.

The Kapow Action News kicks in.

Welcome to Kapow Action News with your anchor, Lana Lang, and ace reporter, Lois Lane.

Good evening, it's May 9th and this is Kapow Action News. All Nexus news, all the time.

The top story night is the continuing pool party in the Bayou Bistro hosted by Snow White. Spirits have high and good times have been had by all even though some hitches have occurred. Irwin Schwab performed a high dive cannonball which emptied the pool of most of it's water but this was quickly taken care of by Rex Mason. In the commotion, Snow White lost her top was quickly rushed out. Chris Powell is providing live entertainment and Ms White is providing the food.

Our own Lois Lane was at the party and managed to catch up with owner and operator of the Pit and the Pendulum, Wormwood, for a brief chat. What did you find out Lois?

Thank you, Lana.

Recently, a new extablishment has opened in the Nexus. Many citizens may be
wondering what sort of place this is and who is behind it.
Today I interviewed Mr. Wormwood, the owner of the Pit and Pendulum.

Thank you, Mr. Wormwood.
Would you please tell us a little about yourself and your background?

Who, me? Oh, I'm just a worm out to enjoy himself. One
of a thousand kids, you learn to fend for yourself. It's the usual story, I suppose, went to school, struck out on me
own, been wandering ever since. I've done a lot of travelling over the millenia, but it's been nice lately to settle down on Earth.
Lovely planet. Been in a lot of wars, almost always on the losing side, somehow. Nowadays I spend most of my time in strip clubs.
It's been a relatively quiet few decades.

What made you decide to come here to the Nexus?
Oh, well actually it was the Bistro that brought me here. Word of mouth gets around about what might
be the finest Stout in creation, well, a man gets curious. Mr. Morningstar's beers are undoubtedly fine, but I think the Stout still was a
little better in Leprechaunia. Anyhow, it's still a damn fine brew, so I decided to stick around for a while and enjoy it.

I understand you are the proprietor of the Pit and the Pendulum. Tell me about this establishment.
Ah! Well, we're a new business, but I'm confident we'll soon become a Nexus mainstay. icon_mrgreen.gif We
offer a fine selection of drinks, especially beer, along with stunning dancers and waitstaff. We also sponsor pit-fighting in our very professional ampitheatre. Normally we do lepper fights, er, that's leprechauns, fights where we can let the little beasts go to the death, but I'm looking to expand and have a sort of brawling tournament. I believe an official place for people to swing their fists at one another
might be very therapeutic around here, don't you think?

This brings me to my next few questions.
Given the number of children that have reported to have been seen in the Nexus, is such an establishment appropriate?

Actually, that's part of the reason I founded the Pit and the Pendulum. The Bayou Bistro is the most family friendly bar that I've ever seen. There's cubs and young ones in here all the time. That's all well and good, but a man likes to be able to cuss, talk about women, and do some ogling while he's having a pint. The Bistro was no sort of place for that.
So I founded the Pendulum. The Pit I tacked on for good measure, and because there seemed to be a market for it. At the Pendulum one is entirely free to be as adult as they like without fear of scarring the kiddies. It's all safely contained within the building. The girls and I are here just because they wanted to try swimming.

Yes, I'm sure you have safeguards to keep children out.

I also understand that you were involved in defeating the Emerald Empress. According to our information, she is currently residing and working at your establishment. Is she still a threat to the Nexus? Are you endangering the lives of the Nexus citizens by having such a person work at your place of business?

Sarya? Oh, no, I imagine not. She's a much calmer person without that Eye of Ekron or whatever it was called. Without it she's just a normal human being; an intelligent, aesthetically pleasing one. I've got her working for me until she's recovered. The girls have quite taken to her. As for safety, well, Mr. Mason has assured me that the Eye is very ably removed from the picture. And if it looks to become a problem again.. *shrugs* It'd be simple enough to remove her from the picture. Seems a waste, though.

Remove her from the picture? In what way? I am to understand that this "eye of Ekron" is weak against Kryptonite. Are you currently or do you plan to keep any of that substance in or around your establishment?

I'm looking into acquiring some, yes. It'll have to be stored carefully, what with the radioactivity and its lethality to certain Nexus goers, but it looks like it's become something of a necessary precaution.
I have other safeguards in place, but frankly, spreading them about will do no good for Sarya's reputation or feelings; besides which, some of them are contingent on surprise, and there's nothing like a news report to the entire Nexus to make everyone over-informed, eh? *grins, eyeing her meaningfully*

Kryptonite can be quite dangerous. Especially to certain people. What are these safegaurds? What if it should fall into the wrong hands? It could be used against the Nexus.

Miss Lane, I only intend for it to be in my hands. I've dealt with radioactive materials before, I'm quite aware of how to shield it. I'm hardly going to make a bloody tiara and earrings of kryptonite and proclaim myself Queen of England. stare

Besides, there are far more worrisome holders of the stuff than I. I just want to sit back and drink a pint in peace. Norman Osborn is running his mechanical body armor off of the stuff. xp

Make sure that you do, Mr. Wormwood. I think that is all the questions I have for you today. Thank you for your time.

There you have it folks. An adult only establishment where you can see scantily clad woman, drink, see violent pit fights and perhaps soon, be irradiated by Kryptonite.

We will continue to follow this story for you.
Back to you, Lana

Thank you, Lois.

In entertainment news, the reviews are pouring in over the new Star Trek film and the citizens of the Nexus are giving it two thumbs up. The casting and acting were praised and it was rated as an excellent popcorn flick. One person who won't be seeing the film is Guy Gardner who was overheard saying this....

Quote:
"Bah...no Shia so I won't watch it. I'm waiting for Transformers 2 so I can see some LeBeoufcake!"

In the world of sports, the Bayou Boppers were beaten 4-2 by the New York Avengers. Clint Barton picked up the win with Donald Blake goin 3 for 4 with a home run.

That's it for this edition of Kapow Action News. This is Lana Lang signing off. And remember...if it matters to you then it matters to us.

The Kapow Action News theme kicks in.

Welcome to Kapow Action News with your anchor, Lana Lang, and ace reporter, Lois Lane.

Good evening, it's May 10th and this is Kapow Action News. All Nexus news, all the time.

Tonight is the final day of Snow White's pool party and most citizens proclaim it a hit. Small grumbles could be heard from corners of the Nexus, the most notable being from Courtney Flynn. Still, the complaints would not bring down the good cheer of the partygoers.

Kapow Action News has been asking for a comment from Christopher Powell or his attorney, Tenzil Kem, on the MKUII lawsuit. Mr Kem has disappeared and we've been unable to contact him while Mr Powell just ignores all queries. Comments from the plaintiff, MKUII, continue to pour in with poor grammar and excess of emoticons.

The citizens of the Nexus helped make Star Trek the number one film in it's opening weekend. The sci fi film raked in approximately 76.5 dollars since it's debut.

In sports, Bane's suspension has been put on hold pending a hearing with the Nexus Baseball League. Bane will be allowed to play while the appeal is underway but the suspension will begin immediately if he loses his appeal.

That's all for Kapow Action News. This is Lana Lang signing off. And remember...if it matters to you then it matters to us.

The Kapow Action News theme kicks in.

Welcome to Kapow Action News with your anchor, Lana Lang, and ace reporter, Lois Lane.

Good evening, it's May 12th and this is Kapow Action News. All Nexus news, all the time.

Our lead story tonight may turn out to be an embarrassing blemish here in the Nexus. Word has gotten Kapow action news that certain citizens are enslaving species they consider beneath them. Specifically using them to fight in an arena for entertainment. Kapow Action News will keep on top of this story as it develops.

Ace reporter Lois Lane ran into the manager of Lantern's Books tonight and asked for a comment on the MKUII lawsuit. Mr Powell had no desire to talk to Ms Lane and rudely brushed her aside with a loud no comment and directed Kapow Action News to his attorney. We have been unable to locate the attorney in question, Tensil Kem, for a statement. We'll monitor this situation for further developments.

Next, Lois Lane continues her Profiles series with an interview of Nathaniel Essex. Lois, what did you learn?

Thank you, Lana.

Tonight, I was able to sit down with Doctor Nathaniel Essex. We had an enlightening conversation.

You seem to be an.. interesting presence in the Nexus. Would mind starting off by telling me a little about yourself?

"But of course. My name is Nathaniel Essex, world renowned geneticist. Almost all of the technology used in genetic research in my own universe is based off my designs. I mostly excel in the study of cloning. My unique appearance is because I am a member of the species Homo Superior, a mutant if you will.

What brings you here to the Nexus? What are your impressions of this place so far?
Mostly research for a new project. Also to keep myself busy. When I don't have work to do I often find myself far to bored to try anything new in my studies. The busier I am the better. Wormwood has seen to that, as I provide him with lovely female specimens for his establishment."

"Hm, I find this place rather interesting, really. I hoped there would be more entertainment from the people around here, though. It seems quiet and far to docile now

You created the girls for the Pit and the Pendulum? What about the ethical issues? What is this new project?
If I were to still worry about the ethical issues I wouldn't have advanced the scientific field as far as I have to this date. Yes, Mr. Wormwood gave me specifics and I was happy to oblige in their creation. I'm rather proud of how they turned out. Simple forms grown and incubated in a few hours and ready for him in no time. Not busy work but satisfying."

"To reveal my new project here would bring some intervention from the more stalwart and heroic members of the community here. But I do assure you it is one of my most ambitious projects to date

Should the citizens of the Nexus be worried about their safety regarding this project?
Oh, heavens no. Simply a case of those ethical issues that you brought up prior. I truth there is little I could possibly do here to endanger the safety of this place. Well, that would be a lie, but it still stands. I simply wish to work and be entertained here. To endanger this place would in no way match my desires

I see.

How much are you involved in the Pit and the Pendulum? Are you merely providing the girls or is there something more?

Well 'monsters' if you will for Wormwood's pit fights but other than that I enjoy the establishment. I'm happy to provide him with what I can.

What of these "creations". Are they kept in proper and humane conditions?
Oh course. I take the best of care with my creations. Wormwood assured me of the quarters used to house the girls and I inspected them myself. I pride myself in my creations from writing their first lines of gene sequence to their entire life span. My facilities are equipped with proper housing for what I currently have there. I am no monster, Lois

Of course not, Mr Essex. To conclude the interview, is there anything else you'd like the public to know about you?
Oh, I am currently looking for an assistant. Other than that, nothing more. Thank you

I'd like to thank Mr. Essex for taking the time to speak with us. What is this mysterious project he speaks of?
Only time will tell. Be sure to stay tuned to Kapow Action News for the latest developments.

Back to you, Lana.
