The By'arre household had turned from it's regular relative-calmness to total chaos. Adhara had been ranting and raving ever since she got back from the Facility older, taller, and with child. This hadn't been expected after a doctor's appointment where she'd been told that she wasn't going to be able to keep her baby and wouldn't get the little girl back until Adhara, herself, grew once again. Unfortunately, with the new change in plans, people were running to and fro to fix up and babyproof the house and every other-such thing that needed to be done, including fixing up Adhara's room to fit a little girl in it.
At the moment, it was Aludra's responsibility to track down the little girl who was running a muck in their house. The newly-christened uncle growled irritably, diving down the hallway in an attempt to grab Adelle around her waist, but -of course- she barely slipped past his fingertips and ran on, flapping her strange-looking, fluffy little wings that very much resembled those of a plucked chicken. He shook his head and sighed tiredly, before glancing up when he heard a ring at the doorbell.
Adelle's pretty brown eyes glanced toward the door when that noise came out of nowhere; after all, that noise meant that her granddad usually went to open the door and people were there. Her left tentacle poked back through the hole that had been cut for it in the too-big shirt of her mother's while the right one snuck out from underneath it. She put one finger in her mouth and wobbled to the door, trying to reach to the doorknob. When she found that she couldn't, her eyes welled up and she sniffed softly.
"Aluuuuu~!!" she whimpered, and Aludra scrambled to his feet, reaching out to unlatch the door and pull it open, tugging his niece back a bit and blinking at the person at the door, before his eyes widened in surprise. "Vin...?!"

Vinny smiled when the door was opened. His mother had sent him with a cake and a gift for the mother and baby, after hearing from one of her friends that Adhara had given birth to a daughter. And being the good son he was, Vinny agreed to take them.
He was slightly surprised to see Aludra, but then he remembered something the boy had told him when they'd met at the park. Adhara was his older sister. "Hi 'Ludra." He said cheerfully. "Oh, is this the baby?" He knelt down, careful not to squish the cake and gift. "Hi, what's your name?" He asked.
He was used to babies, he had twin sisters, barely over two months old. Maybe that was why his mother was so eager to get Adhara something. "Here, these are for your sister." He said, offering the boxes to Aludra. "Mom said they'll make her feel better."

"'Lo, Vin. Nice to see again," he said awkwardly, making sure that his niece didn't make any dash for the door, though it was obvious that she was highly distracted by the male who'd just walked in, as she was staring up at him blankly. He stepped around his friend and pushed the door closed while the other was talking to the baby girl, sighing softly, looking about as tired as his older sister did these days.
"Aludra!! Who's down there?!" a voice called from up the stairs, a bit deeper in a strange way, but definitely still Adhara's. The boy blinked a moment, his remaining anklewing fluttering softly as he glanced back up the stairs. "Is just friend-Vin, 'Dhara," he called back, looking back toward the other male and tipping his head softly, tail flicking as he watched the interactions between the boy and his niece.
Adelle gaped up at the older male, squeaking in surprise when he suddenly got shorter. "Hiii~" she replied sweetly, fluttering her little gosling wings and smiling brightly. "My name's Ay-delle Mer-ee-en-ah Bee-arr," she said in her sweet little voice, her tentacles already stretching out toward the other curiously, wanting to touch and feel all the strange features that the other possessed.
"Ah... says thanks," Aludra said, blinking a couple times, taking both of them and chuckling weakly. He gestured toward the little girl with his tailtip. "Watch for moment. Will take," he said, then gesturing to what he held in his hands before starting up the stairs to bring the present and the cake up to his sister, who was currently in the process of carrying a crib into the baby's room. So he would wait; that was less time that he had to be chasing Adelle around, after all.

Vinny smiled at the baby. "Adelle, huh?" He asked. "That's a pretty name. Fitting for someone as pretty as you are." He got along with younger children easier than kids his age--they were less likely to compliment him. Despite being bad at recieving compliments, he was good at giving them.
He nodded at Aludra before the other boy went upstairs. "Sure, I'll watch her." He said with a nod and a smile. "Come on, Adelle. Want to show me where the couch is?" He asked. "Then I can tell you a story, or something." He was willing to do whatever the tiny girl wanted.

Adelle squealed happily at the compliment, her right tentacle raising up so that she could hide her face from the compliment, giggling cutely before peeking out from behind it with those pretty brown eyes of her's. "Fankoo, Vin~"
At the comment about the story, her entire face lit up. She loved stories!! Well, when she sat still long enough to listen to them, she liked them. Especially the ones with knights and dragons and princesses and epic battles and YAY!! He was going to tell her a story like that, right?! She bounced on her little feet before her left tentacle outstretched to grab hold of his hand and she ran over toward the couch, practically tackling it to get on top and then bouncing excitedly, clapping her hands. "Stowy, Vin, stowy!!"

"No need to thank me," Vinny said with a smile. She was so cute! He wished his sisters were as cute as this little girl was. They couldn't talk well yet, and babbled most of the time--or cried. They cried a lot.
Vinny took hold of the tentacle gently, and followed the tiny girl to the couch. "Alright, I'll tell you a story." He said. "What kind of story would you like?" He asked. He tried to think of a story his younger siblings would enjoy. Princesses. And a prince. There always had to be prince to save the day.
"Want to hear about a princess?" He asked. "Well, there once was a Princess named Adelle--but she was captured by an evil dragon named Sparx. The dragon was determined to have Adelle be his bride. That was, until.. One day, he met up with a brave prince." Vinny didn't seem to mind calling himself brave--maybe it was because he thought it was a story, and stories were meant to be untrue. "The Prince's name was Vincent--but everyone called him Vinny. He was brave, and strong. He was going to save the Princess--no matter what the dragon said." He went on to continue the story.
Eventually said Prince saved the Princess, by bravely fighting the dragon Sparx--not to the death, no good fairy tale ends that way. No, the Prince let the dragon go after making it promise never to kidnap any princesses again.

The child was practically in awe as Vincent told the story. Her tentacles clung to his arm, the girl bouncing and on her knees the entire time, squeaking and flapping her fuzzy little wings each time something exciting happened.
By the end of it, she squealed and turned, tumbling back onto Vincent's lap and wiggling a bit, grinning brightly. She giggled a bit and smiled up at the boy, tentacles outstretching for the sake of clinging to him as the rest of her practically seemed to vibrate; she never sat still, that was for sure.
"Vinny-ny tewws good stowies~" she said, squealing happily again and getting to her knees on his lap, oblivious to the fact that she was doing what was a very catlike move of accidentally digging her knees into the perfectly wrong places on his legs. "Ny-ny's a pwince and Adewwe is a pwincess~!!" she called out happily, crawling up to hug him around the waist with her tentacles and around his torso with her arms, giggling happily. "Tankoo fow da stowy, Ny-ny~"

Vinny was fascinated. He'd never met such an active baby. His sisters generally slept most of the day, but he had the feeling his one didn't. He poked her nose, as if it were a button. "I don't tell good stories." He replied. "That's my mom's job." He ignored the digging into certain wrong places--which was difficult.
"You know what? I think you'd make a good princess." He said, patting the infant on the back as he was hugged. "And--ah--You're welcome, Princess." He said. He liked that nickname. It fitted her.

Adelle giggled happily and shook her head at Vincent's response. "Nonono, Mama doesn't teww good stowies, Ny-ny tewws good stowies!!" she squeaked, somehow mistaking the word 'mom' only ever meaning her own. Her wings flapped happily as she bounced down from Vincent's lap and wriggled herself a bit, left tentacle appearing to be relieved that it was now away from the other person.
She giggled and grinned with her sharp baby teeth up at the older boy. "Finks so? Weww, weww... dat means zat Ny-ny's got'ta be da pwince. And... and... Uncy 'Luuudwa's da DWAGON!!" she squealed, tackling her uncle as soon as he made it all the way down the stairs, confusing the Greed demon greatly as he gave Vincent a wide-eyed 'WHAT DID YOU TELL HER?!' sort-of look.

Vinny shook his head. "I'm no prince." He explained. "I just tell stories." He nodded as wisely as a child his age could. He couldn't help smiling at the girl as she called Aludra a dragon.
"Hi Ludra." He said. "Your sister okay? Did she like the cake?" He asked, politely. He hoped she had--for his mother's sake. He knew Thali would ask as soon as he got home if she'd liked it or not. He liked to reassure her that everyone liked her cooking--even if that wasn't always the case.

Aludra nodded a bit, growling playfully for his niece, who then squealed in excitement and hid behind one of Vincent's legs. "'Dhara is okay. Liked cake and present, too," Aludra replied with a bit of a smile. "She says 'thanks' to Vin and Vin's mom. 'Ludra says thanks for watching 'Delle for a bit," Aludra said with a nod, smiling at the little girl who wiggling a bit behind Vinny's legs.
"Would be nice to see again," he noted, gesturing for his niece to return to him, and she scrambled without hesitating to attack her brother's arm and swing off it, obviously having fun with it. "Can come over... next week or sometime?" he asked, blinking a couple times as he lifted the little girl up to snuggle her a bit.

Vinny gave his friend a smile. "I'll be sure to tell my mom that--oh, and tell her she's welcome." He added, remembering his manners. He smiled at Adelle, and patted her head. "It was nice meeting you, Adelle. I hope we see each other soon." He said, looking to her.
"Next week sounds good, I'll ask my parents." The boy said, looking back to Aludra. 'It was nice seeing you again, Ludra."
