 One step after another, Kriggertarpok's paws padded down the dusty trail, her tail waving and wagging behind her like a little propeller. As she grew -- and she was indeed growing, almost six months old now -- she found herself straying farther and farther away from home and her sister and her parents. Why? Because she could.
Perhaps it was because she was looking for something. Always looking. She always had her eyes open, surveying the world. Perhaps she was looking for someone, a soulmate. She did believe in mates that lived past earthly bounds, even if Father had thought that was silly. She smiled as she walked, ears back in a relaxed manner.
Krigger gazed around, her blue-green eyes falling upon the tree with the most budding flowers and leaves. The first sign of spring. She wagged her tail and stretched out underneath said tree, wondering what would happen if she stayed there the entire night and didn't go home. The sun was just about to set.
Would Daddy be mad? Would Momma worry?
Would she be able to handle the spooky forest all by her lonesome?
Only time would tell.

 He had been following this pup the whole time. Every time she wandered away, the male wolf was there to make sure danger didn't befall her. So far, none had. Electric blue eyes stayed upon her puppy form as he lurked from a thick line of trees. He knew how to be stealthy, knew how to stay hidden when it counted. So far, she hadn't seen or heard him. Perhaps she felt a gaze upon her but couldn't figure out from where.
Should he make himself known to her and tell her to go back? This way was dangerous, he knew. Not far up ahead was Juniper. And he'd surely kill this puppy if she went onto his territory. Slowly he stepped from the shadows enough for his head to be seen.
"Girl, walk away from here. There's someone up there that'll kill you if you walk near him..." His voice was thick and rough, just like his fur looked. Far from clean or good looking, he knew he'd scare her. That was part of his intention, honestly. He noticed she'd gotten a lot bigger than when he first started watching this family. Her and her sister both.

Krigger was oblivious to her stalker-of-sorts. Sure, there had been that one time... When they were little and they thought they saw a monster. And Father had been watching the territory lines closely, carefully lately. Krigger figured it was something from his past. Perhaps not.
She stood and began to trot forwards again, not smelling the line of another wolf. A male. She began to hum to herself, softly, until a voice broke through. Walk...away from here? She jerked her gaze up, scanning the ground. There, in the shadows, was a brown wolf. She scanned his face quickly, seeing no hostility, but uncertain all the same.
She backed away, walking backwards, listening to him. He looked familiar...but she wasn't sure how. "Why?" she finally had the nerve to ask, speaking out.

"He's just a killer... So unless you want your sister and your parents to grieve, move from these lands and don't walk this far again. You were save near the river. There's nothing that way," he murmured, stepping out fully and onto the path she was walking on, showing just how big he was. Sway wasn't the biggest male, no, but he was slightly bigger than your average male, thinner too. As if he'd skipped a few meals. He probably had.
Sway was also very tired, not sleeping because he knew there were pup nappers lurking about everywhere. So far, it seemed only male pups were taken, but he'd protect this small family. Why? He missed his own and had no chance to have it back. So he'd make sure this family got the joys he missed out on.

Krigger frowned, taking another step back as he drew closer. He was no bigger than her father, but he was much larger than her own puppy build. "Well I'm not going home," she said, matter-of-factly. "I want to see how long I can last away from everyone. They never give me enough freedom to run..." She took a deep breath, then looked the loner in the eye. She wanted to ask him why he thought there was a killer wolf up ahead, but she wasn't one to second guess. With a small sigh, she turned and padded away, quite sure he would follow her to the river.
As the stream came into view, Krigger turned around to face him once more. "Why...do you care?" she asked softly, shyly. Her eyes softened as she searched his face. "I mean...you could've let me wander right into the killer's lair. You could've let me go..."

"And let the innocent blood of a pup spill? It'll be my fault. I'd have to report back to your father, and your father would kill me for not protecting you," he growled out, getting impatient with the puppy. He wasn't mad, but he really, really wanted to make the small one understand where he was coming from. He moved with her, indeed, sniffing along the way to make sure that no one was coming.
His blue eyes darted around, looking this way and that. Always paranoid about someone stumbling across him. Sway didn't want to be seen by anyone he didn't want to see him.

Krigger looked at his nervous movements, her own still and silent. She sat with her tail curled around her paws, looking at him as if he was a little bit insane. Not that she minded. "So...what? Are you my bodyguard or somethin? Did Dad hire you to watch after me?" He spoke as if he knew their small family... But he didn't smell of Broken Shore...

Her bodyguard, hired? No. "I watch you of my own will. I don't talk to your father or your mother or sister. I just watch your family. Protect them because I can." Because he wanted them to blossom into a beautiful flower. He wanted someone to have what he couldn't. He moved closer to Krigger, looking her straight in the eyes, staring at her before brushing past her into the shadows again.
Follow if she could, he wouldn't stop her. He was heading to the river, away from the blood crazed Juniper. As long as it got the pup away... that's all he cared about.

Krigger watched him go, plopping into a lazy sit. What did he mean? Why would he watch her on his own time? Why? She was a stranger. He was a stranger to her and her family. Why would a stranger care so much?
Perhaps if she'd been a little younger, she wouldn't have thought anything else of it... But with her new age came a little wiser thoughts. And those thoughts were curious. "W-Wait! Wait! I don't even know your name!" she yapped, galloping along behind him and skidding to a stop in front of him. "I...I'm Kriggertarpok."

The lone male blinked as the pup suddenly appeared in front of him and then sighed. Great, name swapping. He'd been hoping to avoid that, but he couldn't say no if she offered hers first. "I know your name, Kriggs. I know your nicknames too. I've watched you, remember?" He said, touching his nose to her head lightly before pulling back. Why'd he do that? Perhaps it was the longing to have pups of his own. Maybe he wanted a daughter like her.
"Swayambhu," he replied in but a whispered breath, looking to the side with a pained expression. He wanted to talk with the pup more, but he shouldn't. She'd tell her father and then Sway would be a dead wolf, that was certain. Those electric blue eyes looked towards her again, the pain still there, the longing, though he wasn't sure she knew what those looks meant.
"Follow me to the river, away from here. I don't want him to get you..."
