Overview»
As a toddler, Noë is an adventurous, bright little girl. She's fascinated by people, especially those who look more like animals, and will ask endless questions of you if you let her. Energetic and playful, she is almost constantly on the move; she doesn't deliberately get into mischief, but it's so much a side effect of her persistent curiousity that Max has to keep something of a constant eye on her. She's a sweet, gentle child, quite biddable and very affectionate, and she utterly adores her Papa Max.
Powers»
Noë's empathy is strong even at this early age. She can "read" people very well and knows when someone's a good person or a bad person. And if she's upset or angry enough, she can broadcast her emotions straight through one's soul. Her knack with animals is already evident as well, often to Max's consternation.. . . Tay . . . Species» Good question. It looks like a squirrel-sized fox, mostly, with enormous ears on a squirrel-shaped head, a soft brown-striped red coat of fur and a thick white ruff around its neck and down its chest. It also has very sharp little cat-like teeth, which it will not hesitate to use. Its eyes are large and green and reflective.
Overview»
Tay is still essentially a wild creature, despite its tame behaviour around Noë. It's small and cute and furry, and tempting to pet. Please don't, unless you want to end up bitten or scratched. It's very sensitive to her state of mind and very protective of her; if it doesn't like you, it will let you know, hissing or scolding before attacking. It is small, but fierce.

Overview»
An aeronaut and engineer, Max is the very picture of a Gentleman Nerd. Or Mad Tinkerer, take your pick. A small man by anyone's reckoning, he stands around 5'7" on a "tall" day, with a slim yet wiry build, shaggy shoulder-length strawberry-blond hair and sideburns, and bright green eyes set in an almost permanently-smiling face. His fashion sense tends more toward the practical, although he's been known to dress up as a sort of steampunk Mad Hatter on occasion.
Max lives aboard his airship, the Boudicca, moored at his workshop on the outskirts of Durem, where he builds and repairs little domestic-type robots and clockworks; he also runs a small air transport service on the side. He used to work in Aekea repairing factory robots, but he got fired after making some, um, unauthorized customizations. Insatiably curious, he's one of those who takes things apart, figures out how they work, thinks of ways they could work better or differently, modifies them accordingly, then puts them back together. He's also an inventor, and regularly comes up with new and wacky creations, most of which work as he originally intended. Mostly. Sometimes his tinkerings involve the use of Significant Force beyond the simple application of a sledgehammer -- this is why his workshop is located well on the outskirts of town.
All in all, Max deeply enjoys life and what he's doing with his. He's bright and personable, relentlessly cheerful and bouncy, and as blithely amoral as a housecat (he's not above staging midnight scavenging runs in Aekea for parts for his projects). He also has the attention span of a flea and a contrary streak a mile long. Max really likes children -- in a lot of ways, he's still a big kid himself -- and has an inordinate fondness for tea. He also loves flying, and will often disengage the Boudicca's navigation computer and pilot the ship himself, just for fun.
