Kanani grinned as she watched the forest from her still stance, her eyes set on a pair of twittering birds. The little sparrows seemed to never lose their energy as they raced through the branches of a young oak, chirping and calling to one another. 'Just as I never lose my love for adventure...' Kanani thought, turning away to glimpse the never-ending maze of trees before her. The day was still young, and she had taken the liberty of wandering off from her heard to explore. Besides, she had been in the new lands for a considerable amount of time now, and felt that she knew enough of the place to fend for herself. The help of the Cerynei Prince was always appreciated, but she had no need for his guidance now, not when she had already befriended many normal Soquili, and when she had memorized most of the herd's range.
She smiled to herself and set off, her white hooves moving gracefully across the leaf-scattered ground. Perhaps she would meet another Soquili today, or find a new place to explore. For her, the possibilities seemed to never end.

(Sorry about the wait @_@) Meanwhile, another denizen of the forest was in an energized, cheerful mood, humming a jaunty tune -- a good thing since the actual lyrics were quite vulgar at times, a drinking tune he had learned by observing some humans.
His ears swiveled to the side as he heard crunching leaves under anothers hooves, his pausing mid step, his path cut lightly across gnarled roots. Chuckling, he redirected his path towards the somewhat familiar sound. However, he didn't announce himself, instead simply walking towards the sound, humming once more and making little aborted, breathy singing noises through his teeth as he headed towards this new arrival in his usual territory.
It should prove to be entertaining.

Kanani paused in mid-stride, her muscles freezing beneath her fur. Her slightly fluffy ears snapped to the side as she heard a strange noise, not too far off. It sounded like... humming? A strange sort of humming, at that. She did not know very many Soquili who would so freely sing the songs of the two-leggers.
For a moment she considered darting off in the opposite direction, just to be safe. But her curiosity rooted her in place, and she felt a strange urge to find out what strange being could hum such a strange tune...
So, before she could stop herself, she found that her legs were taking towards the sound of the humming.

(omgosh. somehow I missed that you posted D8 *cling*)
"hmmnhmm you do with a drunken sailor.." The Cheshire Soquili hummed softly as his head bobbled slightly, then paused, ears swivling as the noise paused, then adjusted to head towards him, "..dada da early..mnh the mornin'..."
first peeking under some thick brambly bushes, Tulgey judged the quality of the land on the other side before taking a few steps back and bounding over it, trotting a few steps before flicking his tail free of the tangled vines and turning his head to look the cerynei mare that was apparently the one who had been heading his way, "...Ahoy, Luv." He grinned playfully, his brows vanishing into his thick bangs, "You're new here..."

[[Hehe, that's fine. I was on vacation anyways.]]
Kanani tensed as the other Soquili suddenly appeared before her, shaking himself free from the dense undergrowth. True, she had seen many Soquili before, and no longer held a fear of them--but this one was different. She could just tell, like the way you could tell that someone was crazy by glancing into their eyes. And this one definitely had some mischievous looking eyes...
Kanani straightened herself, allowing her muscles to relax once more, before greeting, "Hello..." Her gaze drifted to the playful grin on his face, and a slight shiver ran up her spine. But she chose to ignore it--she was just unnerved by the new scenery... yes, that was it.
"No, I've not been here before. But I'm only passing through... so if this is your territory, forgive me. I meant no trespass," she stated matter-of-factly, taking confidence in the unwavering sound of her own voice. Her eyes squinted as she studied him, and she asked, "Who exactly... are you anyway?"

Bobbling his head back and forth Merrily, Tulgey's grin grew wider, "Tulgey. Tulgey Cat. Sorry, Duck, if I startled you -- sometimes it is easier to leap then to go around certain obstacles in ones path."
He bowed deeply, eyes still up and watching with his playful grin, "I must say, I've never seen a Soquili quite of your kind. I'm a little behind in the times, so please excuse me if I question back at you. Who are you?"

Kanani watched the other's grin carefully, not knowing why such a simple gesture could make her feel so wary.
"It's alright... I suppose it's easy for me to be startled by new things..." she mumbled, her eyes tracing the strange vines that ran up and down his legs.
"I'm Kanani. I'm a Cerynei, one of the many who have traveled to the Soquili lands to seek a new home. I resemble deer, I suppose, though I am still a cousin of the Soquili." She turned her gaze back upwards, a slight frown forming on her face. "Your accent is strange... I've never heard anything like it. Are you also from a distant land?"
She wasn't quite sure what to say to this strange Soquili... but hopefully, words would hold off any unnecessary trouble.

"A... Cerynei?" He tasted the name on his lips, quickly storing it away in a sharp, if somewhat addled mind, "Ah! I suspect from the distant fires, their smoke carried on the wind from beyond Kawani lands to my home further north in the mountains..."
Tulgey's lips quirked, now more in a smirk then a grin, the slightly sharper, if useless, canines of his mouth now hidden in his lips once more, laughter bubbling under his sing song voice, "I should say, to me your accent is the strange one... But Aye, I am from the far far East. Though not as far to the east as my father was. We were born in a garden of the eastern coasts, but My brother and I followed our father.. I used to speak more like mother, but after the Jabberwock attacked My mind clicked into place to be more like father. He came from The Isles of Wonderland, from the Cheshire clan."
