Boyue was...well, ecstatic, of course. A little nervous, but definitely happy. After all, his Melody was having a baby! His baby! And he was certain that Boyan would be okay about it. After all, it'd be his grandbaby! And what could make anybody happier than a baby, right?
He had decided that today he would get her a special gift. She'd been through a lot of stress with the little one lately and she deserved something nice. The problem was that he wasn't quite sure -what- to get her.
He entered the living room, trying to keep his goals secretive.
~Does Melody need anything? ~ He sent a quick question in her direction.

Melody simply wasn't used to living apart from her father; granted, she was old enough to have left the nest eons ago, but she still had to admit she enjoyed the security.
So now, in -- oh my gosh -- a place of their VERY OWN, it was actually somewhat terrifying. Or was that the hormones? Or was that her father's latest interest in drawing pokemon on the walls?
Melody...
A sigh as she stretched out on the floor. Not that she didn't like the couches, but her father did this when he needed to relax, and it seemed like something to try.
Melody would very much like an assurance that Daddy wasn't going to run off and wreak havoc again. sweatdrop She had to admit, he'd been getting worse lately. Bad enough that she didn't even know if it was wise to leave him to take care of Melody's nieces by himself.

Boyue decided to sit down next to her on the floor. Not lay- because then he couldn't get up as quickly to get her something if she needed it, but, he wanted to be -near-.
A sigh. Boyue is sorry that Melody is so worried, and wishes he could help, but he is not sure he can give that to Melody. They can go visit Boyan, though if she would like. See how he is doing?

Melody shook her head. No... he should be all right by himself.
She hoped.
"Rrrrrghhl," she finally groaned, covering her face with one hand. Besides, she REALLY didn't feel like getting up and going out.

Boyue nodded, gently threading fingers through the woman's hair. He wasn't sure how comfortable she could be there lying on the floor, but he wasn't about to tell her she ought to get up.
Perhaps some soft music? Or some tea? Tea made lots of things better, maybe it would make Melody feel better?

Melody closed her eyes, face tilting toward Boyue as she let out a quiet sigh.
No, no, no... she was fine where she was, fine where she was. Perhaps Boyue should join her; it's nice, actually, to have a solid surface to lie on sometimes.
She didn't need music, or tea, or anything. Just Boyue.

Well, that was certainly something he could do.
He lie down on the floor next to her, gently gathering her close and washing her with feelings of comfort and love and contentedness.

Melody sighed again, one arm slipping around Boyue's waist as she buried her face in his shoulder.
She was worried about her father, actually. He just... It wasn't like he wasn't acting like himself. He was just behaving so erratically, and Melody just couldn't shake the feeling that something was WRONG and...
Melody didn't know, honestly, if she could keep DOING this. (Please don't tell Daddy, she quickly added. She felt so horrible saying it!) But they were going to have a family of their own, they had a house of their own, and they would have different priorities and so much time devoted to raising their family... Would Melody even be ABLE to take care of her father, too?
What was she supposed to DO?

Melody could handle anything. But, Boyue thinks that she is right and that she will not be able to handle if Boyan keeps acting like this for very long.
Still, he is sure that Boyan will be normal again soon. And that everything will be okay. Boyue will take care of Melody. And of the baby. He will do everything to make sure all is well.
Melody is supposed to do nothing. She should do what she feels best. Boyue knows that she is very good at following her heart, and is sure that this is the right way to go about things.

While Melody was still worried, it helped to know that her husband, as they say, had her back. So for the moment, she allowed herself to relax.
It was just... so strange, she finally found herself thinking. To think of themselves as parents.
To have a son or a daughter running around, getting into things, chasing after Auntie Nusumu in cabinets and falling off the counter, trying to cook but instead causing a catastrophe (Oh, wait, Melody STILL did that), squirting out of their parents' arms after bathtime and tearing through the house stark naked in front of guests... sweatdrop
Maybe, if they were lucky, it would take more after Boyue...

Boyue is also worried about being a parent, but is sure that they will do all right as parents. If the child does decide to make messes and run around naked, it will not hurt anyone anyhow. It will be strange to have so much noise and chaos around the house, though! But, he is used to having lots of noise and chaos in Shiaree's house, so this should not be -too- different except for lots more attention paid to it.
...he secretly hopes the baby is more like Melody, as it is difficult to be so shy with so many interesting people around. Baby will have a very hard time if it is so quiet!

--Maybe, Melody thought. Though the countertop incident was a close call...
So, she supposed, all that remained was to prepare the house for the new arrival, and come up with something to call it...

To call the house or the baby? Because Boyue is not sure that houses usually have names, but thinks it might be interesting to name it. As far as the baby...well, he is not sure. He will have to look on the internets for names and see what he likes and show his findings to Melody, if she likes?

Melody was thinking... if it was a girl... she'd want to name her after her mother. Not exactly "Tsubame", but...
Maybe Tsubaki? It was a flower, as Melody understood it.
For an instant, her projections turn wistful. She wondered if her mother was all right, wherever she was. And her brother, Tsuyoshi...
She wondered if they'd be excited to hear about a grandchild or a niece or nephew or--
She quickly shook off those feelings.
Did Boyue think it was okay..?

Boyue smiled, gently squeezing Melody's arm. Tsubaki is a very pretty name. And a flower is a good thing to name a child of Melody's after. After all, how could she not be beautiful, with how lovely her mother is?
He did not give thought to her worries about her mother and uncle-- he did not want to highlight those thoughts but instead help her relax and not to concern herself with them. They would be fine.
Melody should focus on making sure that she is healthy both emotionally and physically. Then she will have an easier time of being a mother, probably.
