So, tell me: what are you working on now? What's the plot? Any cool characters? What about vampires, do you have any of them? Ninjas? Pirates? Teh gay? Is it going well or are you having troubles? How long will it be? Fanfic or original?

This is a thread where we can all discuss our current works and stroke our own egos. Unless you're one of those people who are cautious and afraid of having their ideas stolen. If that's the case, please don't post here telling us so. It's off topic and kind of annoying, not to mention pointless.

Well, you know me--I can't settle on one project for long. I really need to get something sent off to see if I can get in a magazine, so I'm doing some light revision on a story I wrote a while back. I'm also trying to put together a portfolio of mainstream fiction, which isn't going very quickly. sweatdrop

Here in the next week or so I've got to get to work on my project paper. It's this new thing that's replaced a thesis--I take an extra 3-credit class, and my paper is about half as long as a thesis. I'd like to get it done by Christmas, so that I don't have to worry about trying to teach in the spring AND get my project paper done. Fortunately I'm working from a paper I wrote last semester (Joe Christmas from Faulkner's Light in August as a Romantic hero) so I've actually got about half of a first draft already done. whee

Actually, I'm working on several projects right now. The only two that I'll talk about in detail are the Vampire parody that I'm working on. It's going to be short, nearly microfiction short. I'm considering using first person to relate the tale of a now deceased vampire. I hope that it'll be funny, I'm not sure when I'll have it finished though, some of my other projects are taking precedent.

I'm also writing a short story for ~Seishin~'s "Origins Of" contest. It's about the Origin's of a certain shoebox used for a certain gerbil. It should be done any day now. It's pretty funny. To me at least.

Hm... Well, I'm taking a Creative Writing course this summer and the teacher is, to put it lightly, excellent. The only real creative piece I'm working on at the moment is the manga I've been poking for the past half a year and finally started to draw two days ago (I don't need a tablet, really). All the same, all the poems our teacher forces out of us every day are kind of fun and I think I've improved by leaps and bounds.

So, current projects? That scifi/humor/drama story I never finished but got over fifty pages into (Times New Roman 10 single spaced, thank you--double space is the devil!) and abandoned last summer and the collection of playing-with-fantasy-cliches "Hero Short Stories" I've been spitting out every three months or so.

I'm working on a novel that has four main characters, Aliens that are evolved from ocean life and a cocky 18 year old pilot.

I'm still in the rough draft stage of it (300 pages of it all badly written just to get the basic idea down)

I'm also working on several fanfics and a few ost of them will probably never see the light of day. I'm just picky like that.

If I ever post anything I'm working on in here, I hope you guys tear it apart. I can handle anything dished out (Which is scarey)

I'm not actually writing anything at the moment, but I am very much in the research/story-building phase for two distinctly different project. One is sci-fi and deals with moon colonization (I swear, I had the idea before our dear President started making predictions we'd be living there by the year 2020). The other is also sci-fi, but it tends more toward the space opera, as it's set at least 500 years farther into the future and all. whee

Oh, and I have some weird idea floating around in my head that involves my assassin character, Garrett Thompson. But that one is mostly just off in the ether at this point. stare

EDIT: I forgot my short story, which is also a sci-fi (see a trend, here?) that involves this guy and these robot-clone-thingymajiggers (haven't decided exactly what they are yet). It's set not too far in the future... fifty years at most... And the working title is 'Pleasure Palace', although it's a tad bit misleading. On purpose. whee

I'm working on a ton of stuff, because I have a short attention span. I have this story where God reveals that the entire creation of humanity was a joke, and he's going to kill us off unless we redeem ourselves.

I have another story about a group of captured soldiers. Its just going to be a series of vignettes about each captive's lives, as they reflect on their lives before they die.

And... I'm working on a collaborative webcomic. But all we know is that its going to be about drugs and raves and mechas and fighting. biggrin

I'm currently fiddling around with my attempt at somewhat less-than-linear prose without making it seem too pretentious. For me, this takes doing.

My big project right now, though, involves a fairly epic re-telling of my recent holiday at the request of a friend.

In other words, I'm kind of at loose ends right now.

I may as well post what I'm working on too.

As most already know, I'm working on a parody soap opera with Bane which involves most of the WF regs. I haven't even started the next chapter, mostly because I'm not feeling motivated and because of one of my other projects has gotten in the way.

My other project is the Badger Brigade which is mostly for fun and to vent frustration over Mary Sues and the severe shafting the Hufflepuff house gets from the fandom. Most people seem to think it's full of happy idiots.

My other project is a movie, which has eaten most of my time lately. We've only filmed a few scenes and I don't even know when we'll be done. It's a Macbeth parody!

Whew, that was fun. Who's next?

An anime parody called "Dot Farf". It's set in an OMGCYBERPUNK world where stuff happens! There's a giant robot named Neopolitan, a cute little beaver named Popohauen (Or Popo-chan) and invaders from POLAND.

Yeah, I'm actually doing it. So shhh.

Plus, the soap opera that I'm doing with Hemp.

I'm writing a screenplay with a friend from work. The planning stage is finally out of the way, and we are slowly ( ninja ) slowly typing it out.

In the mean time, I'm supposedly working on my first novel (I lost the notebook I had all the planning work in, and with it, all my motivation for writing it sweatdrop ). That project is code named "Archetypes" at the moment, and works under the assumption that reality believes all the silly things that we as a society believe.

Phrases like "the clothes make the man" take on a literal effect: a guy wearing a business suit will make money more quickly, or have money spontaneously appear in his bank account. I may not use this example, but that's the general idea of it.

I'm *cough* "researching" and "developing characters." That translates into: I'm slacking off and not writing. I actually do have a story in mind, but I have a lot of things in mind/ in progress and none of them are really going anywhere.

I know exactly what you mean ... aside from the screenplay, I'm not being very productive either. I just console myself by telling that the character work I was working on before I lost my note book was actually important.

And, whee those new buttons sure are dangerous. sweatdrop I have to watch everywhere I click now. eek
